Nice, thanks for tips. I may try maxing out Critical Strikes.. more damage is always good
Would Deadly Arts give a similar return in straight up damage? Also, do the Cluster Bomb ticks get a chance to crit on their own or is it just the initial hit?
I’m really enjoying using the short bow in WvW and was wondering how I can make it more effective. Right now I’m traited all in Acrobatics and Trickery (not quite 80) and I’m finding I’ve got good decent damage and great survivability but would like to eek a little bit more out of it… especially more damange
Any suggestions?
I’ve been noticing this as well… so +1 to the fire.
Is there a difference between the caltrops utility skill and the traited ability in the Trickery line?
bleh… I suspected as much, ah well…
I had a lot of fun hassling enemy groups with the shortbow the other night in WvW and was wondering if anybody has used Power Shots from the Shadow Arts tree?
I’ve come up with something like this:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fYUQFAFoI4Uk0j6f4r6C6ecVrqVA
but it hardly seems worth it to take Power Shots. I’m going to re-trait soon, and haven’t been a big fan of the Shadow Arts tree.
So, is it worth it… or am I wasting my time?
Cool build. Looks like you could put down some serious hassling given optimal conditions. Don’t think I could live without a few o-kitty-utility skills though.
Spend your 9 points on something, anything… right now you’re kittening yourself. Also, HS is a finisher not an opener you’re wasting initiative. IMHO, I’d try to open with CnD or maybe LDB, but never ever HS.
The reason I took Infiltrator’s Signet over Roll for Initiative is because it is a passive ability, and maybe it’s just me, but I’ve found that RfI puts me too far away and I have to run back anyway. I don’t use the Shadowstep on Infiltrator’s often, but it can be useful when Steal isn’t up.
Signet of Shadows, I do hem and haw over this one and occasionally drop in Assassin Signet, however, this build is all about being mobile and I find the speed increase to help, the blind on activation isn’t bad either.
I’ve been using P/D in WvW as I’m not 80 yet and prefer to harass. For PvP D/D is better IMHO.
SB on second, always. Actually now that I think about it trolling the zerg with SoM and clusterbombing would be fun. Traited right, one could cause some mayhem
I think what people forget about these builds is that we can still backstab when running D/D.
My rotation given optimal conditions:
Dodge > Steal > Backstab > Release Stolen > Dodge > LDB > CnD > Pause > Dodge > Backstab >>
… and you should know how the fight is going from there… more of the same or HS to get it over with.. or your dead.
Since we’re playing the build game, here’s my iteration…
High initiative generation and stealth abilities. I’ve been running this with D/D, but have been trying P/D as well. SB as my second.
Can you post your build please?

Great build, tagging this thread…
Also, Zunhar… RE Shadow’s Embrace, wouldn’t that only remove 1 condition (or 2?) given that we’re only in stealth for 3s, or are you chaining stealths together for maximum impact?
The nerf is coming regardless. Let’s get some more viability for sword and pistol builds.
DD is about CnD, then backstabs and finishing with HS. LDB for adds. I have the trait to drop caltrops on dodge, so that and LDB pretty much handle anything for me.
And yeah… you’ll need a few levels/traits before stuff really comes together. Try different builds too. I thought I’d like pistols and swords… but nah…
Wait… haven’t had a chance to test… but I thought stealth got applied on the short cooldown if you were out of range, but had a target…
hrm…
Not a bug… follow the wiki:

then
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Steal
“Note that using Steal without a target in range will still put the ability on a 5 second cooldown, while gaining any traited bonuses.”
The better thief would win.
The link isn’t broken, the redirector guidwars2.com uses is. Copy and paste it.
(Nice PP build btw!)
I’ve been thinking about a build like this as well, but running S/P instead of D/D. Getting positioning for the backstab is a pain in PvP or WvW.
How viable have others found a build like this? Does it do better in PvE, PvP, WvW?

I’ve had auto-attack trigger even with it disabled with a main-hand melee weapon when stealing. Not using Mug or anything, just normal F1.
