Luckily, since launch, reset has been at midnight UTC, and always will be. We can figure it out…lol.
Exactly… I think some people are confused about what DST is for or something… the servers are set to a standard time zone that doesn’t change, for individual players their point of reference changes based on the time zone the individual is in. DST just means that their individual point of reference changes twice a year, shifting forward and backward. It doesn’t actually change anything, the sun still rises when it’s supposed to rise and sets when it’s supposed to set, the only thing that changes is the numbers on the clock.
These things only cause confusion when a player thinks that the servers are synchronized to his particular time zone when they are not. It’s why people keep getting confused when the monthly resets – in the USA server reset happens in early evening several hours before the end of the last day of the month. To those players, it seems like the month ended early – but they forget that it also began several hours early.
The servers are set to a particular time zone that doesn’t change. Every other time zone will be earlier or later than that zone depending on how far away you are. Without that, the servers would reset every hour which would just mean that no one would know how long you have to do the dailies/monthlies before reset.
I don’t know, does it matter? I just meant it’s technically feasible to program such a thing, not that it would be feasible in this particular situation. I’m not looking for an argument here.
It’s not technically feasible.
What happens is that the servers reset every 24 hours, regardless of what the clock on the player’s desk says. For every player, in every country, the servers reset at the same instant.
What you’re talking about, the servers would reset at different times throughout the night, depending on where the player is located. But each time zone doesn’t have its own server, there’s only one set of servers that resets a half dozen times each night. Why? So I would still be working on my Dailies for Saturday while someone else has already finished his Dailies for Sunday. It doesn’t work like that.
The server resets when it resets. It doesn’t care what your clock says.

it is completely unreasonable to expect someone else to do this just because you do.
It’s reasonable to expect a person to act in a reasonable manner. However, given your choice of username and the nature of the Internet in general, I won’t hold you to a standard of reasonable behavior.
Thanks for the heads up. Can’t say I’m getting why it would change the time in some areas though. I guess the servers don’t give a crap about daylight savings?
The reset happens every 24 hours, regardless of DST. That means that the reset happens tonight at 8 PM in the Eastern US, and tomorrow night at 7 PM, which is exactly 24 hours later.
I actually do agree with you, it’s just the thought that my life is kitten and every MMO (except WoW, but stop it before and because of MoP) I played has been an unrewarding experience in terms of drops and etc. It’s nice to have some part of your life that does well,(i.e a game that you play) be a little more successful and motivate you to be happier.
I have a bitter taste in my mouth, but at least now I feel slightly progressed and able to enjoy other things in the game, since I was turning really obsessive over acquiring a legendary.
It is helpful to keep in mind a variation of the MST3K Mantra:
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MST3KMantra
“It’s just a game; I should really just relax.”
Games are supposed to be entertaining. If you find yourself taking things that happen in the game too seriously, or if it encourages unhealthy behavior, do something else. No matter how much time, effort, money and/or emotion you invest in this game, eventually you will move on to other interests and all the “stuff” you accumulated within the game will be left behind. It’s just pixels.
Precursor crafting was talked about in 2012, nothing changed.
The game was released in August 2012. An alternate method of obtaining a precursor was first mentioned in early 2013, an official announcement regarding it was made mid-2013, we were warned that it wouldn’t be introduced before the end of the year in late 2013 and as of March 2014 it was announced that they were rethinking aspects of the proposed system because of upcoming changes to the game (particularly the wardrobe, which increased demand for Legendaries considerably).
It’s a delicate issue that needs to be done correctly or not at all. The system represents only a handful of items but they are some of the biggest long-term goals and anything that affects Legendaries and their components affects the game as a whole. The devs remain aware that this is a concern for many veteran players but they have to think of the entire game and all the players, not just the few who complain about it on the forums.
Why is everyone overreacting? o.o
I thought daylight saving time was something that happens every year
If you want to see overreacting wait until tomorrow night. OMG why did my dailies reset early? I demand CS give me my laurel!
Still undecided, if I want the Lady or the Tiger, both have pros and cons.
The Tiger is much less dangerous.
Besides, it’s been a while since I read the story, but isn’t the point of it that the doors are not labeled? You don’t know which one you get until you make the choice.
So what happens if she doesn’t get an answer? Or if someone higher in the chain of command says “we’re not talking about that yet.” If there is no answer to report, of if she is forbidden to talk about it, there’s nothing to say.
when you post in a thread, do you continue to follow the thread every time you see a new post in it? for every thread you ever post in?
didnt think so.
You thought wrong, then. Personally, I look for the “arrow” icon that shows I have posted in the thread, and when I see an updated thread with an arrow I always look to see what the new post is. Even if it’s a necro’d thread from last year.
Now, with regards to Gaile, she can’t post in every thread every day “no news to report today,” nor can she hunt down those involved and torture them until she gets an answer. So if there’s nothing to report, she’s not going to report that there’s nothing to report.
Is this about the hair clipping issues? There have been clipping issues since the game’s release, and they are not going to be fixed. It happens at the most basic level: items in the game do not interact with each other as solid objects, so the fancier they get with bits that project out into other objects, the two different pieces each act as if the other does not exist. This is why people have a problem with charr tails and asura feet, for example, the body parts act as if the clothing isn’t there and protrude right through them.
The only solution is to replace the item with something/nothing, such as when a hat makes your hair disappear. This is not a satisfactory solution either, as the tail/foot/armor piece/etc. you wanted to show off simply disappears. They cannot remove part of the object, it’s all or nothing.
And they don’t have the time or resources allotted to design separate item models for every race, they adapt human male/female models to other races as best they can. Every change that makes it into the game has been approved by someone at a management level, so don’t blame the devs and artists for this, they are simply working with what tools they have within the time allowed, they do the best they can and management says “it’s finished, now put it into the game.” Similarly, the same management is not likely to allow them to go back to redo the models because a few players don’t like the way they look on different races. They need those resources focused on creating new content, not polishing old content.
These issues cannot be solved without a ground-up rewrite of the game code and significant changes to the way these objects are created, such as tracking each individual hair and armor decoration as a separate object. Imagine doing that for hundreds of characters at once and you can see that it is simply impossible to do given the technology available today.
This issue is not going to be fixed, and Anet generally does not issue refunds for buyer remorse. I would suggest you stop supporting a game you apparently dislike (based on numerous complaint posts in your history) and spend your money on something you actually enjoy.

The article sets off my BS detector: the guy interviewed claims to have invented the MUD pretty much by itself, but fails to mention that the earliest MUDs were computer emulations of Dungeons and Dragons. D&D was developed a few years before he claims to have invented MUDs in the USA and is responsible for many aspects he claims to have invented, including the themes of exploration and killing enemies, experience, levels and classes, and even the “Dungeons” the genre was named for.
He didn’t invent any of these things, they were borrowed from existing games. The whole claim that he envisioned them as some kind of idealized society and a political protest is just BS.
I think raising a child would be a better example. Parents have different perspective than children. If you give in to every demand you end up with a child who eats nothing but cake and candy, stays up until midnight every night, never goes to school or takes a bath, etc. The child doesn’t understand the importance of a balanced diet, proper hygiene and getting rest and education, he is focused only on what he wants now and does not appreciate the big picture.
Likewise, if Anet gives players what they want right now they will quickly become bored with what they have and want more. So devs will need to either introduce a gear treadmill to keep players distracted by the new shiny or see the game population dwindle because they already have all the shinies.
This is why your position on the topic is considered to be a joke.
No, jokes are funny. This is like the hum of a fluorescent light bulb – an annoying side effect.
you missed his point. This idea isnt so much about the tokens themselves, as much as giving rewards for doin different tasks based on how commonly they are done. Essentially discouraging repetitive play and having people going everywhere looking at the things most ignore.
Im guessing he would link the random item vendor to these type of tokens
MMO devs often try to do this, and mostly fail. Because if there are two or more ways to get something, a lot of players will choose the easiest/fastest way and keep doing it until they get what they want.
This is the main complaint/problem behind rewards, especially items like precursors. You can get them doing almost any activity, but the easiest route is to buy it from the TP, so to many players it is the only way. It’s irrelevant that the more fun way is to play the game as you normally would and not worry about it so much, they want a precursor, want it now and consider the fastest or easiest way to get it to be the only way.
there’s no point worrying/wondering. they won’t get anymore specific than “we’re working on it, and will let you know our plans when things become closer to implementation”.
they won’t ever give you a specific “we’re going to do it” or “we scrapped it”.
best to assume it isn’t going to happen. if it ever does….yippy. :/
Policy is set by management above the employees who interact on the forums. When your boss tells you not to talk about that, you don’t talk about that. If you do, then you get fired and your replacement doesn’t talk about that.
The devs don’t take orders from forum posters.
Yeah, some Wanze was fortunate enough to get his answer, sometime, somewhere. Who knows where, who knows when. I assume that was about first future pack. Precursor scavenger hunt was announced in official blog post. I hope there’s no need to elaborate further.
Publicly announced, March 2014. I saw the announcement too. Just because you didn’t see it doesn’t meant that they aren’t communicating. Or do you expect the devs to show up at your house, log onto the website, and read the announcement out loud to you?
Only thing i have to say about this is. Whats’s wrong with telling your plans to community and then if something’s not coming and not working, to just come forward and say, look, it’s not coming in near future, there’re multiple complications, we can’t make it for now, it will be done some time later etc. and etc. or not done at all for whatever reason.
Mark Katzbach posted this in March:
We want to let you know that the ability to build your precursor will not be in our upcoming Feature Pack. The way progression and rewards work in Guild Wars 2 have changed quite a bit since we initially talked about that feature, and our main horizontal progression systems are about to get some additional updates in the upcoming feature pack. Because of that, we are looking into several ways to integrate building your precursor into our new updated reward and progression systems we’re working on, which is requiring additional development time and iteration. As always, we’ll share details on this system once it’s far enough along in production we’re ready to discuss it.
Yeah, they refuse to say anything at all about the issue… not a single comment to say “we’re still working on it but it’s been delayed because…”
How much more hypocrite things can get really.
Don’t hold your breath.
And why only world bosses? Hand out tokens for doing events which haven’t been done for a while, hand out tokens for players who play different jumping puzzles or explore the map.
This idea reappears every once in a while on these forums, and I love the it.
This already exists. Dungeon-specific tokens, laurels, karma, game-mode tokens like badges. Tokens are not unanimously appreciated, however, and a lot of players prefer a universal token system (gold) because you can get it almost anywhere and trade it for almost anything. Didn’t they remove a token system from PVP (glory) in favor of more gold a while back? Not sure because I don’t PVP but that was the impression I got. They wouldn’t have done that, and would be adding more items to karma and dungeon vendors if token systems were popular with the player base in general.
Also, tying new rewards to tokens like karma or laurels is problematic. Players who already have a quantity of these tokens stockpiled get a head start towards obtaining the new rewards, and players who don’t have a lot of these tokens or who just spent them on something else (buying gear for alts, for example) feel bad because they have to work that much harder to get the things other players already have.
Introducing a new token for each reward is also problematic. Tying laurels to Dailies and Monthlies led to complaints of time-gating, because players were limited to buying one item every X days. Tying new tokens to specific activities leads to complaints of “more grind” in a game that wasn’t supposed to be grindy, because players who focus on obtaining those rewards will do that content over and over until they get what they want.
There are already token systems in the game. If they were utilized more by the player base, they would be expanded upon, but they are not. In fact many players care about the tokens only to the extent that they can be converted to gold (using karma and skill points to produce items to sell on the TP, for example, and forging/salvaging equipment bought with dungeon tokens), so there is not much incentive to create new tokens that will just be converted to gold.
Patience.
It takes time to process the support tickets. Only file one ticket, multiple tickets just mean you will be waiting longer and hold up other people while different CS agents try to fix the mess.
They will lock your account so that no one can access it, then return the account to the rightful owner. Then when the account is secure again, they can “roll back” the account and return it to a time before it was stolen. You will get your stuff back.
Posting about it here will not have any effect on this process. If you are kept waiting more than three days without a response, post the ticket number in the stickied thread for ticket reviews. Until then, the only thing you can do is wait.
This is a great example of how they can’t win.
If they add something that is generally disliked and does not remove it despite people clearly disliking it people complain about how they never listen to the community.
If they do remove something after people show their dislike it is just damage control.
Yep.
There are anywhere from a few hundred thousand to several million active accounts worldwide. Almost every account belongs to a different person, who wants different things from the game, likes and dislikes different things, has different expectations, and different amounts of patience.
Pretty much by definition any change – or any refusal to make a change – is going to upset someone. Those who are upset are more likely to publicly declare that they are upset. And when a handful of them are saying the same things, suddenly they become “everyone.”
But, on the other hand, any change – or any refusal to make a change – is going to please someone. Those people are less likely to shout “I like this!” from the rooftops, but what does happen is that they log in and play the game, and buy gems, and do stuff. Anet can measure this and when the number of people actually playing the game drops sharply, they’ll know they did something wrong.
100,000 players stop logging in after a patch, there’s a problem. Twelve people yelling about something on the forums, not so much.
This is not an account issue.
It had been softening slowly for a month before the patch though so there’s some other effect taking place as well, though.
Changes to the TP interface may turn away a lot of casual players, who simply avoid using the TP instead of spending their limited in-game time relearning how to use it.
The info you’re mentioning only tells about the specific 3 days. It is not automatically valid for the rest of the game’s 2+ years.
The data was simply grabbed at the time of posting, it wasn’t cherry-picked and there is no reason to think that it was not a typical example of TP transactions.
I have two hands, and the majority of people I’ve met have two hands. I haven’t met all seven billion or so humans on the planet, but from my experience it’s reasonable to conclude that the majority of people have two hands. Exceptions exist, but when I meet a person with one hand I don’t conclude that everyone I haven’t met yet has only one hand.
(edited by tolunart.2095)
The nature of random distribution doesn’t work that way.
The system functions on those who are lucky, and average. The losers are not a part of supply. You got lucky, I can tell you most people haven’t got a precursor in two years from a monster. There is no guarantee except the market.
That’s why precursors are tradeable instead of account bound. In practice, it’s not the best way to handle things, but that’s what they designed before the game launched and they’re stuck with it now.
There’s nothing special about my account. It has already been demonstrated by JS that Dusk sells at a rate of about one per hour, and nearly every sale within the 60-hour period he posted is a different seller and a different buyer. Every day, hundreds of accounts get lucky drops/forges and hundreds of accounts have accumulated enough gold to buy precursors from the lucky players. I believe mine sold in less than a day, probably a few hours.
By design, obtaining a Legendary weapon is a lengthy and expensive process. As a singular event that is critical to obtaining that Legendary (as opposed to an incremental requirement like 100% map completion or collecting stacks of materials), the precursor is also a lengthy and expensive process. Dedicated players are naturally going to seek the path of least resistance, and if it’s too easy to obtain the pieces they need, the game will be flooded with Legendaries and that is a situation the devs do not want.
So, in your search for a precursor, persistence, patience, and luck are rewarded. Crying “it’s not fair!” on the forums is not rewarded, nor should it be. Any additional routes to obtaining the precursor need to respect existing methods, if it is much harder then the devs work will be ignored, and if it is much easier then alters the game in ways they don’t want.
During the life of this thread, hundreds, if not thousands, of players have “gotten lucky” and obtained a precursor of some sort. Thousands more have saved up gold and exchanged their riches with some of those players to obtain the precursors they want. If an individual is not among them, he should examine the way he is playing and whether he is actually moving towards his goal, or if the Legendary really is his goal at all. Demanding the devs bend the game to his liking is simply not going to lead to a Legendary. Playing the game and working towards that goal will eventually lead to it.
the quote of the dev was talking about players paying a fair price because they think that it is worth it not to do it themselves. This only applies when there is not an extremely limited supply, and when players can obtain the item by other means.
There are three methods to obtaining a precursor: random drops, the Mystic Forge, and buying it from the TP. I’ve gotten one through a random drop, if you are patient any player can get one just by playing the game. If you want to focus on it as a goal you can throw the appropriate type/level rares/exotics into the MF until you get it, the prices on the TP reflect the typical cost of the MF fuel, but you can reduce the cost by playing the game and collecting materials or tokens.
It has been demonstrated that Dusk sells on the TP at a rate of about once an hour, with mostly unique buyers and sellers. This means that there is a supply of Dusks coming from somewhere, and for the most part it is not just one or a handful of players controlling the market. Hundreds of players every week produce their own Dusks (not all of them sold, many are probably kept for personal use) and across all precursors there are thousands of new items generated every week.
The devs have access to a vast amount of information about the game, and can easily determine how many precursors are created, sold on the TP, forged into Legendaries, accumulated by speculators for future use, salvaged by players who don’t realize what they represent, etc.
If there truly was a problem with the process, it would be pretty obvious when the number of people forging/selling/buying precursors drops off sharply as people give up on the process because it’s too hard or unreliable.
Actually the best ways to get the precursor you want is to either throw rare/exotic weapons into the MF until you get it, or pay someone else to do it for you. Since most players don’t intentionally lose money, they probably spent less money forging it than they are willing to sell it for. If you farm materials/gold/dungeon tokens to fuel the Mystic Forging you have a good chance to get the precursor for less than the current market value.
As for the topic, it is literally true because he does not distinguish between precursors in general and the precursor that you want. But if you think it’s breaking any rules, report the first post and let the moderators investigate. I’m guessing this has already happened, and since the thread has not been closed, he’s not breaking any rules.
It doesn’t necessarily lead to inflation, but it is a major input of liquid currency into the economy.
For the record, this is exactly why I dislike it. It becomes just another facet in “it’s always more worth it to farm gold and buy what you want than to get the item itself”. Imagine if, instead of gold, dungeons rewarded 3 T6 every time you completed a path instead? I think that’d be much cooler (as a player).
Although that’s not a question, so I don’t expect a response. :P
Many players do not enjoy “playing” the TP, and do not seek to get the most value out of their loot, if they sell through the TP at all. This would likely increase the perception of such items as “vendor trash” among those who aren’t interested in crafting, and lead to more players selling mats to vendors and/or buy orders.
They are also likely to buy from sell orders more often, I did in the beginning when leveling several toons through crafting. So this may have the unintended effect of putting cheaper mats into the hands of flippers through buy orders who sell them to other players through sell orders, increasing the margins between the two and thus making more money for flippers and less for dungeon runners.
Also, as JS said this is an important faucet for introducing gold into the economy. Without enough faucets, gold sinks like the TP could do their job too well and reduce the amount of gold in circulation to the point where the average player cannot earn enough gold to use the TP to buy the things he needs and wants. Giving us things to sell needs to be balanced by giving us the money to buy them with.
The RNG acts very strangely with me and seems anything but random (Which I have reported to ANet couple times). Just can’t do it. I know people who have thrown in over 1000g worth of stuff to get nothing, while I know others who have gotten multiple pre drops with little effort from the forge.
This is the definition of “random.”
First, the preview is a view of ideal lighting while actual lighting conditions vary a lot. Also, the radiant armor pieces are designed to actually glow while other skins are just shiny reflective metal. The real view doesn’t look bad, but realize that unless they make other glowing white armor skins that’s the closest match you’re going to get.
I thought it was impossible for Anet to change a guild name.
Apparently that’s no longer so – at least with the NAME. Tag might still be out of bounds though.
Perhaps that’s why the tag was left alone, as an alternative to disbanding the guild. With a lot of recent changes to the game that CS tools haven’t caught up with yet, all CS agents may not be on the same page when it comes to situations like this.
Also, to an outsider, “Potentially Offensive” can imply that you are aware of the offensive interpretation of “poof,” and at least one player was in fact offended by it. It doesn’t matter how long the name has been in place, and CS is not the same as the devs or marketing departments. They will investigate player complaints and it’s CS who decides what action to take, not the devs. So it doesn’t matter if others at Anet weren’t offended, they were not involved in this decision.
That said, if you appeal the decision through CS they may reverse it and restore the guild name. You’re lucky though, I have seen at least one thread where a guild was disbanded because of an offensive name.
References to bodily functions are prohibited under the naming policy. “Fart” isn’t as bad as a racist comment, but it could still be considered a violation.
You beat me to it. Yeah, juvenile references to body parts and functions (the kind of things B&BH chuckle about) are against TOS and will be acted upon if reported. There have been quite a few complaints about this in the Support forum. Keep it classy.
Now if only someone would make a website where you could sell and buy items buy trading with in game mail and have a ratings system like ebay. We could cut out the TP middle man.
Similar ideas have been brought up before, but there are several problems with the idea. Some examples:
Feedback isn’t necessarily truthful – a group of players could all give each other positive feedback so they seem to be trustworthy when there weren’t any real transactions between them.
Or a player could buy/sell several small items to build up positive feedback before scamming multiple people for expensive items like precursors. It would be very easy to abandon the account and start over with another account, especially for gold sellers who have a number of stolen accounts they can use.
Similarly, an account with good feedback can be stolen by a scammer and discarded when his victims realize they’ve been scammed.
It won’t be supported by Anet (their current TP system is far more efficient and much safer), so it will create more work for CS agents who have to explain that stolen items and gold cannot be returned, and stolen accounts used for scamming would have no way to clear their reputation after being used by a scammer.
There are other reasons, but this is just a few reasons why such a system cannot work in this environment. Over the years eBay has suffered many of these as well, I haven’t been there in years so I don’t know if they have ever solved their problems.
Yeah, obviously alot more gold went into the CE then came out of it since launch. My question was, if that amount is meaningful compared to the total amount of gold generated in game. If all the gold that went into the CE since launch (minus the gold that came out of it for gems) would still be in the game economy, i would expect overall prices on the tp to be inflated to what we have now.
Your question was about what would happen if the exchange never existed, that’s more like what would happen if the exchange was removed and the gold currently in it was distributed among the population.
Now, if it never existed then gold that was farmed with the intent of trading for gems would not have been farmed in the first place and would not impact the game economy because it never existed.
Also, I would imagine that the gold and tradeable items (including crafting mats, unbound rares, exotics, precursors and other goodies) held within dormant accounts would have more of an impact, collectively, than the gold temporarily set aside in the exchange. “Dormant accounts” being those of players who haven’t logged in since, say, mid-May or earlier, a month after the April patch that changed a lot of things in the game.
It’s easier to do this because there is a total fee of 15% per transaction. If a sales order had a sales fee of 10% and filling a buy order was 15% people would be confused and every few days there would be someone on the forums ranting that Anet is ripping them off for filling buy orders.
The CE is really a reflection of gem value and isn’t as strongly tied to the economy as many think it is.
So as a gold sink/counter inflation measure its not very relevant?
I think the point is that the TP and gem store are two very different entities and don’t really influence each other very much.
I mean, there are players who farm for gold to exchange for gems, then spend them in the gem store, yes. But if the game launched without this exchange, they would not be farming for gold to spend in the TP nearly as long because it’s a lot easier to get the things you want from the TP and then drop out of the market, perhaps out of the game altogether because the only real long-term goal is Legendary crafting.
Likewise, a lot of people assume players are spending thousands of real dollars on gems to exchange for gold to buy Legendaries and such, but I don’t think this happens very often. More likely they use it to craft with alts for XP and to buy equipment when the player has money to spend but not a lot of time to grind. Those players are less likely to want a Legendary and are just interested in playing the game the way they want.
And movement of the currency values over time shows that many more players are converting gold to gems than the other way around. So the gem store is impacted by this far more than the TP. Without this exchange, there would be far less players farming in the game, but the impact would probably not be severe, since there would also be a lot less “flipping” and other activities. Prices would not change as quickly and some items would not move as quickly, but otherwise there would be little difference.
Hard to do that ^^ got 2 rare names I’m trying to switch
Then buy three contracts.
Rename Character A something similar but not exactly like Character B, then rename Character B to Character A’s old name. Then you only need two contracts.
Ok, what about the opposite then, what if they just dropped the T6 requirements to 100-125 each rather than 250 each? They did a similar thing with Unidentified dyes. This would mean that without raising supply any, they could reduce the demand due to Legendary crafting at roughly the same rate they increased supply of Pres.
The mats are something that can be collected over time, while the precursor is a single, major purchase. A lot of players have the mats already, and are competing with each other to buy the popular precursors or give up and buy a cheaper one instead (as per the point of the thread, you can choose a “lesser” precursor if you are impatient). Lowering the requirements by 100 each would lead to a number of players dumping their excess mats to make the money to get a precursor. It’s good for the ones who can act immediately, but soon the price of mats will crash while the increased wealth being thrown at precursors drives up their price.
So the first few to dump their mats will get their precursors, and the after the cheap ones are sold the price will rise while late comers will get less money for their mats and still won’t be able to afford the precursor.
Anet can increase precursor drops and raise the price of mats, or reduce mat requirements and raise the price of precursors… Neither solves your “problem” because no matter what they do, making a Legendary becomes more expensive. Which is why they haven’t done anything yet, it’s better to let the market determine the prices than try to manipulate the market and mess it up for everyone.
Then I suggest you stop doing the things that get you suspended. You don’t have many more chances, and “I buy gems” doesn’t give you any special privileges. I wouldn’t be surprised if your next offense gets you a permanent ban.
The company/devs will always have some influence because they created and continue to update the game. It has been explained many times what “player driven economy” means, there are simply some who refuse to accept this for whatever reasons.
Players control the demand for items because if they don’t want it, they won’t buy it. If they want it, they’ll keep paying for it until the price rises out of the range they are willing to pay. Players control supply because if an item is in high demand they will seek out opportunities to provide these items until the price drops to the point they are not motivated to seek it out any more.
Anet cannot force you to want something, or to want to provide it to others.

It violates TOS due to the drug reference. It doesn’t matter how long you’ve had the name, there is no time limit.

It would not be possible to roll-back an account for the reasons stated above. Computer security is the responsibility of the game account’s owner. Your friend will (as you posted he/she has) just need to be more careful in the future. Condolences.
That ‘Computer security is the responsibility of the owner’ thing can be said about everyone who’s ever gotten their account compromised, and I don’t think that’s stopped ANet from rolling back some accounts.
What makes this case any different? Someone else accessed an account without the owner’s permission. The only difference I can think of for this case is it was on a computer in the same network.
It has been well established that Anet will not roll back the account because “my brother/girlfriend/roomate/buddy deleted my characters.”
You can argue the point all you want, but the decision is not yours (nor ours) to make.
How many precursors have dropped in the game as loot but weren’t picked up for whatever reason?
If you are able to track such a thing…
I hope not, it’s disturbing to see grown men cry.
Maybe they thought it’s “Looking for Greatswords?”
I imagine it’s more for entertainment/see what everyone has to say than engaging in a discussion.
I would have jokingly suggested that maybe the John Smiths have a drinking game for it, and they pull up a thread and take a shot every time someone uses inflation incorrectly, but that would be impossible. Because if they did that, they would have all died of alcohol poisoning a long long time ago.
Nah, instead of drinking every time someone uses the term wrong they log into the game, buy a random precursor, and salvage it. They had to stop the game, though, they are running out of precursors.
