+1
I also turn the RETREEEEEEEEAT dialogue volume FOR GREAT JUSTICE down sometimes because having SHAKE IT OFF these random catchphrases and ALL THINGS HAVE A RIGHT TO GROW npc’s yelling stuff at me all day is quite annoying.
When I noticed I couldn’t skip the new cut scenes I decided I may as well pay attention to it, but couldn’t hear it anyway. I went into options and turned the dialogue volume to full but it was still very quiet compared to the other game sounds. Subs would have been a good idea.
Not a hater here, I loved the first Halloween, Wintersday, Dragon Bash, Bazaar, Crown Pavillion etc updates. I thought they were all interesting and/or fun to play. Always used to irritate me how many people would complain they were disappointed in the updates.
But this one has left me disappointed. I log in, port to Kessex, am placed in a very very dull looking instance – can’t wait to get out of it and see what the actual content is. Have to kill these enemies first… zz. It’s interesting to see changes and things happening on familiar maps, but the whole area now looks so drab and depressing. It’s a big wet land of minimal colour and constant drizzle. Like going to Wales in March.
Aesthetics aside, what do we do? We open the map, waypoint to where an event is, try to get a hit on some mobs, for what? Give these drops to an npc for an “achievement” or collect probably ten hundred million of them for a mediocre-looking weapon which we’ll most likely need to use transmutation crytals on? I should probably research these things properly before commenting on them, lol, maybe I am wrong but it doesn’t change the fact that I did 3-4 of the events then logged right back out to play something else.
Oh well. Only have to wait 2 weeks for the next one, maybe that will be better.
Play whatever class you want – it doesn’t take years to hit max level and it’s easy to get the top gear. It’s also very cheap to reset your stats so don’t worry too much about choosing the “wrong” ones. I usually start a character by stacking into power/precision/crit damage, and then tweak based on what I need/how often I’m dying etc.
I know which one is more fun, for me, and that’s definitely the Warrior. My preconceptions were that a Guardian is just a wimpy version of the Warrior, and I was right. Why serve in Heaven when you can rule in Hell etc.
Warrior:
-amazing traits
-fun skills
-awesome elites
-good mobility
-all weapons are fun
Guardian:
-depressingly dull traits
-slow skills
-useless elites
-poor mobility
-all weapons are tedious and boring
Oh it’s not so bad, either farming a bit of gold for the crystals or buying some gems, so you can use the armour you want. I do agree it’s a bit of a sly tactic (if they have deliberately made the Ascended armour ugly) but it’s not the end of the world.
I have noticed though (and haven’t seen it mentioned anywhere ont he forums yet) that the ~79 trans stones are now blue instead of green, and the crystals are now green instead of yellow. Does this mean a new stone will be introduced to transmute Ascended?
This has probably been discussed already but I’m not a regular reader here.
1. more controls with the bank. why is there no ‘compact’ or ‘sort’ in the bag/bank?? Hundreds of items and absolutely 0 way of sorting them. Absolute madness. Never know where anything is, things don’t stack onto existing piles when you switch them to/from bank…
2. revamp of the party system. The person who starts the party should be the only one able to invite/kick other people. It shouldn’t matter who enters the dungeon first – if someone gets kicked then only THEY are booted from the dungeon. Get rid of needing to complete story mode to do explore, or make story mode dungeons a part of the personal storyline (essential)
3. Heavy armours are lacking in creativity. The karma exotic mask from Orr is cool but I really have a hard time finding anything I like for my Warrior.
4. Expansion. Not really sure what I’d like to see in it but new areas to explore would be great, with mobs we haven’t seen before.
5. A point to it all. As great as the game is, I feel it’s really lacking something, like a reason for any of it. It’s a dangerous line though, but I think it’s related to the lack of open world pvp, or guilds actually fighting each other for things. I’m not saying I want open world pvp, and I say it’s dangerous because I hate games where one super massive guild has a monopoly on everything, but there needs to be something worth fighting for, but it has to be done well to avoid the monopoly. Currently we pve so we can pve so we can pve and pve and pve even harder. What’s the point?
It would be great if we had more events, like in the beta where the branded were taking over or something and players had to corrupt other players by killing them. Things like that, or pvp event type things in the open world, that give unique rewards for use in the normal world.
Being an Elementalist.
I wonder which celebrities play GW2, if any.
Well this is my actual name, lol. Quite annoying really as I’m sure it wasn’t mentioned to me on registering that the name I picked would be on display everywhere in game and on the forums. But oh well.
It would be great. I think it would really bring guilds closer together as well. Guild missions are good for that but everything else – dungeons etc – are only 6 people.
I’d also like to play chess in a minigame that you access in your friends list. the pieces could be characters from the game.
Perhaps people prefer to…
…hmm, better not make that joke.
Not much. I do the dailies then farm a bit in Frostgorge until I get bored. There’s not really much point to any of it. Gold is pretty much worthless in this game – there’s nothing to work for or spend it on. Legendary weapons are silly things for attention seekers I’m not interested in those. So besides that, I can play the game just as comfortably with 5g as I can with 100,000g.
After a year+ of doing the world bosses, I’ve gotten slightly bored of them. Also because they’ve buffed them recently with no better reward. We’ve been spoiled recently with 24/7 farm (queen’s pavillion, invasions etc) and now that’s been taken away we’re back to the old content which is now more difficult but less rewarding. Even though it’s more difficult, it’s still basically the same – stand around waiting, zerg it, move on. Add in a few more dodges and resses, use stability a bit more.
That is most likely a limitation put by ANET so ppl that havn’t done story mode gain easy access to exp mode by getting someone that has done story mode and then kicking him to get another party member and by that having a full party of ppl that havn’t done story mode but still doing exp mode
I don’t understand why it’s essential to do story mode in the first place. I think it should be abolished completely and just let everyone run explorable, but if it must be this way, then make it so you can’t enter at all unless you’ve done story mode. But to say “You can enter and play this content on the condition that whoever started the dungeon doesn’t rage quit or disconnect” is pretty silly. Don’t you agree?
Most likely there is a reason for that.
Most dungeons(except for the event ones and fotm) require the leader to have done story mode in order to access exp mode.
For the above reason, that is most likely why this dysfunctional system is still here.
However a simple solution to that is for the game to automatically assign a new leader that has done story mode for that dungeon and only when no one is eligible for doing exp mode(i.e no one has done story mode except for the leader that left) the party should be kicked out of the dungeon.
Still an absolutely terrible system. If you are allowed into the dungeon in the first place, there is absolutely NO reason why you should be ejected from it because of someone quitting or disconnecting. It’s ridiculous.
I think everyone should still be kicked if noone else has completed story. If someone else has though, then they should be cycled to leader.
Why should you have done story mode to not get kicked from the dungeon you entered? You should either be allowed in the dungeon or not, and if it is, for some absurd reason, absolutely essential that you have to have story mode, then the story mode dungeons should be essential to the personal story, like Arah is.
For over a year now many people have been frustrated with and had their evenings completely wasted by this mechanic. I thought the idea of this game was to work together with people we see outside of our comfort zones, or guilds. You know, to res people, to buff them with our out-of-party fields and regens and whatnot. But all this makes me do, is pull away from, and utterly despise having anything to do with anyone who isn’t in my guild.
LFG tool? Great, now it’s even easier to waste my time being kicked from dungeons after randomidiot.7645 decides he can’t be bothered to play anymore. Because of this mechanic, I have not and will not ever use the LFG tool, nor will I pug a dungeon.
You can guest and be just as much a part of the community as people who’s main server is there. Like I said earlier, I pretty much permanently guest because my main server lacks a community. It’s new content, of course there will be queues. If you chose a good server, good for you, but you really aren’t any more entitled to be playing on it than anyone else.
I don’t really agree with this. I was once also on a server I wasn’t satisfied with… I saved up as much gold as I needed to transfer and then did it, taking my gold right down to zero, after selling most of my mats and waiting about 2 weeks for my desired server to actually become available (TC, full population).
I think there is a big difference between flocking to a high pop server to kill a boss, and saving up/waiting for weeks to transfer there. I am not completely against your post though. We have all paid for the game, so we should all be allowed access to the content. It is quite insulting to go to an event only to be put in an overflow where the event isn’t even happening. I’ve never played a game of this size before but in my last mmo, there was no such thing as overflow. There were 2 worlds and you were stuck on the one you chose. Big events lagged, it was your choice whether to put up with it or not. Settings can be turned down low for a reason.
I know I’m probably saying this without really thinking about it, but, if the servers can’t handle so many people in the same place at once, close them, or stop selling the game. It’s quite unfair to sell a game and be denied access to the public content.
Though I guess Tequatl would drop in 15 seconds from the thousands of people hitting it and the game would never receive any updates because there were no copies being sold, or something.
I don’t know, lol. Save up and transfer. If you have 10 hours a day to waste on the game trying to do Tequatl, you can waste 10 hours a day farming for a transfer.
(Apologies if the servers are perma full these days, and for the long post!)
Thanks for your reply. I hope it gets fixed soon because there’s only so much I can bite my tongue before I tear this person a new one. lol.
Hello,
I am trying to block a player but I can still see what they’re saying. They are on my blocked list and if I right click their name next to their messages it will give me the option to unblock them. They are in my guild. Is this the reason I can’t block them?
Just revert to the old, more quicker loot icons. The newer, slower scrolling ones were a terrible idea. Not only does it get in the way of the leave instance button but you can’t keep track of how many ectos you’re getting, unless you wait ages after each salvage.
Awfully tedious.
Every day I find myself looking through my mess of a bag for items. Search doesn’t cut it, it’s not practical or efficient.
Instead of “compact” why not have “sort” where it puts all the fashions next to each other, armors next to each other, boosters, tonics, mats etc. Then when the bag inevitably gets messy again you just press the sort button and pewpew it’s done again.
Same for bank. What a mess that thing is. Never know where anything is. Would also be great if things I double click into there from my bag would go onto piles of the same already in the bank. Eg: I have 100 mystic coins in my bank and 2 in my bag. I double click the 2, I now have 102 in my bank, in the same pile.
Genius.
I tried Tarnished Coast and Anvil Rock, both bugged, unable to get 100% :/
lol yay I will log in and accept either tonight or tomorrow and if you’re around give you an awkward brofist and we shall never talk of this moment again. :p
We’d have an ultra intense long distance relationship with wild plans and tonnes of loves and romanticisms then my depression would bore away at your soul and we’d fight and slam doors (log out of skype) at each other and I’d probably cry and wish yet again I was someone else and you’d feel resentment and guilt for all the pain you put me through after you saw what a mess I’d become and if I’m still alive after 2 months we’ll be friends on facebook and like each other’s statuses more than once a year but definitely less than once a month.
Where do I apply?
Edit: oh you’re a dude.
(edited by tomlin.8204)
Thank you, shame I am on a different server – I have moved so many times usually following friends who then later quit, and I spent my last gold transferring here vowing to never switch again. Well, I will bare you in mind if I ever do. Thank you again.
Hi there!
I finally moved to TC and joined a guild but it’s not very active. The 2 most important things I’m looking for is activity and friendliness. I would also like to meet people I can relate to, connect with, get to know better etc. I like to make jokes and be involved in guild things, I don’t cause drama but I can be rude and sarcastic, at the right times! (really, I know when to be serious and when not to be serious).
So um yeah hi! I’d love to see what’s available. Generally it makes me cringe a bit when guilds take themselves so seriously like some kind of reversed job application to stack shelves or flip burgers, yet you still have to use the horrid buzzwords and cliche’s to try and sell yourself. Well, I actually do work well in a team or alone. So hire me to your super serious guild that has a common goal to collect gold and do stuff, and has been together since 1908!
I just want some friends lol. Be my friend :/
I think that is quite a bizarre attitude.
Personally I find it rather sluggish, annoying and tedious. Unless I’m under a speed buff and not being attacked by anything, it usually feels like my character is trying to run through cement. This is tru in PvE also, of course, but it is infinitely more frustrating in a more stressful situation such as PvP.
Probably my mediocre internet doesn’t help, but the skills are also too slow, either actual cast times, general lag, the time it can take to go from one to another, and the long cooldowns. The downed state is just horrifically sluggy, trying to select the right target to knock down, and it being so slow and laggy, killing you.
I think PvP is a good place to really learn your chacter inside out, and train your reaction times, but I just find it a bit too annoying to bother with.
Seems the same as it always was to me. Maybe very slightly worse, but still acceptable. The chance to get Rares in the first place though, well we all know about that.
Well it’s under the idea of not making things pointlessly obstructive – a bit like how your country will say “math” instead of “maths”, or even mathematics. Would be a shame for people to use longer words or punctuate their sentences.
Honestly I think the whole world should just use 1 time and if it means 8am is when it starts getting dark in one part of the world then so be it, I can adjust to that as long as I know exactly when events in my online games start.
Shame, I was trying to get to TC last night but it was full so I went elsewhere. This guild sounds so right for me, so I’ll keep an eye on the server status. I really respect the manifesto of this guild btw. You are good people
Hello, I recently transfered to Piken Square and I’m looking for an active guild with nice people in it of any/all ages, skills etc. I enjoy all areas of the game and love to help out/do group activities.
Thank you
I dced in the middle of the event and didn’t get mailed a chest, and I’m pretty annoyed that i didn’t get a chest while people who did the event over 4 times and looted got a chest in the mail.
They’ve already stated that if you didn’t get a chest (and were deserving of one), to contact support today.
We don’t really need another thread on this.
They really need to make a sticky with the post in it. No one wants to read through many pages of complaints to find it. I saw one official post about it and it didn’t say to contact support.
attended/no loot/no mail
I’m hoping they are getting to it, maybe doing it one server at a time or something. I really don’t want to have to chase this up. It’s great they are doing it though.
I just want to shout “Yarr!”
Very nice, good work.
They’re great, I love the atmosphere in them.
I really like Mount Maelstrom. It’s got so much variety, in terrain and creatures. So many different types of mob there, and it’s a beautiful area. Underwater lava <3
The issue with your viewpoint is we are’nt given instruction as to what we need to survive. The game just throws you in at full speed and you just have to figure it all out. Which I guess is fun for some, but I think the majority of people would prefer a ramped difficulty, where at least for the first 30 or so levels it’s a decent amount easier, so you can actually figure stuff, gear, stats.. what this does, that does without having to die over and over and ultimately get frustrated and quite possibly quit.
The game is too hard for low level, it’s too hard for solo.. if you expect a level 10 to understand about toughness and all that, then I think you’re being a tad bit silly.. crap, I still don’t really understand all that, and am just now, getting a smidgen of an idea about it.
Add animations that are easily sightable and recognizable at least 1-3 seconds before mob casts uber spell, give more time of red circle before dropping the spell.. there’s a bunch of issues with this, that if they fixed them the game would be so much more pleasing. For me, most definetely, but I don’t think I’m the only one.
If this game is meant for the hardcore of hardcore then fine, i’ll leave now, because that’s not what I want out of my mmo’s.
Anyone with a basic grasp of the English language should be able to figure out what Toughness does – it makes you tougher. Things like Power, Defense and Toughness are pretty self-explanatory, things like Precision may need some explaining but all you have to do is hover your cursor over it in the Character window and it tells you. Do we really need a “Push W to walk forward” tutorial, or do we just need to use our brains/common sense.
In my experience with mmo’s this game does actually teach you a lot more than others do, with in-game WvW tutorials, PvP tutorials, Scout NPC’s… there’s a lot of help here, plus the official GW2 wiki.
Which level 14 quest are you getting 1 shot in? I’ve never been 1 shot in any story quest. As for Champions and bosses, well, I like the idea that some of them will 1 shot you. As Robby mentioned though, those Hyleks are horrific.
For general leveling there’s just no need. This is my own baggage here but personally I find it irritating having to consider someone else when I’m trying to level, for example wondering whether to say “just popping up to that waypoint!” or just going there and then wondering if they’ve noticed that I went up there and if they’re going to follow me or ask me why I’m up there, making me stop whatever it is I’m doing to type a response to them. Then I feel trapped and unable to leave the party. Do I have to say “ty for pt” before I leave it? Do I wait for a reply once I’ve said it, then leave? I usually say thanks and just leave it but it still feels awkward to me. What if I suddenly get bored of 100%ing the zone we’re in and want to do soemthing else? I hate to feel burdened with other people. The fact this random person that I don’t know can see my account name doesn’t sit too well with me, either.
Hate to say this but Given ANet’s service records, they probably aren’t going to be ‘mailing’ precursors to people as they were not guaranteed rewards.
“Sorry, you dc, you lose.” – ANetps. I got dc’d as well
It does make me wonder how they could deal with this mess.
A GM mails someone a precursor = favouritism
No one gets mailed a precursor = unfair
Mail us lotto boxes? A token of some kind? Would both require coding/work. I don’t see how they could do it, besides individually checking every person’s account to see if they were actually there at all, or even trying to log in at the time, and sending them “random” items from the boss’ drop table.
You don’t need a red post, they put it on the kitten website (if only people could read):
An Epic One-Time Event
This is it: the final battle against the fierce Ancient Karka on the brand-new Southsun Cove map. Only the combined might of the heroes of Tyria has any hope against a creature this powerful, which means we need you! This once-in-a-lifetime event takes place only on November 18—don’t miss it.https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/november-2012/
You forgot to include the bit where it says where it starts.
I held off from dungeons until I was level 80 with full Exotics, so I’ve always been allowed to join the self-proclaimed elite parties. In my experience, the elite parties are far far worse than random groups of mixed level players. They rage if one person dies, try and kick each other, curse like there’s no tomorrow, rage quit, and are usually the ones making the most mistakes. Anyone labeling themselves as elite, and any party asking for Exotics, and in some cases level 80’s only, are actually doing you a huge favour – you know exactly who to avoid.
I only switched to Evasive Arcana recently, and don’t really see a difference. Could someone please explain to me what the difference in damage/conditions is now? For example I see people complaining about the Fire damage on the dodge roll. How much damage was the Fire blast finisher doing before this patch? Was the cooldown on the effects always 10 seconds, or was it different before?
There’s still much at work here I’m not aware of, for example I get the impression we’re limited on a weekly or monthly basis in terms of DR, or rather how long we’re allowed to stay in the “magic zone”.
For example, my first level 80 character gets to Orr, equips a MF set, gets 20+ Rares in a day. DR kicks in and I’m getting 1 Rare every 4 hours. No matter what I do, this doesn’t seem to improve. I can go to another area and kill things that aren’t Risen, I can PvP, WvW, even log off for 24 hours, but whenever I come back to Orr it’s the same. I hear people saying doing something else for an hour resets it, but it doesn’t.
My second level 80 gets to Orr, equips a MF set, and the fun begins again, only to fall into the exact same pattern. I get the occasional bout of picking up Rares, but it’s still amongst tonnes of Porous Bones, and this is with mostly full MF set with Superior Sigil of Luck and Omnom food, sometimes even cash shop boost.
It seems to reset sometimes, but I can’t figure out when or why. Is there any official word on this that I haven’t seen?
Much better recently on Seafarer’s Rest. Saw a few pop up at Penitent recently but they might have moved/been banned already, not sure. They weren’t doing very well though, lol, dying pretty much every wave.
Are they colours that can only be obtained from these packs, or are they the same colours we always had available?
