I was also trying to pay attention to the red range indicator on the skill itself. If you notice it turns on and off in random areas/terrain even before it’s dropped and when it is dropped and ready to cast. I am not sure why this is.
If we are using it wrong then the description should be more informative but as it stands it’s a broken and potentially game changing skill if it actually worked.
So I’ve played teef since beta and I’ve toyed around with shadow trap off and on but it just is so buggy half the time that it is unreliable. It seems like mesmer portal always works why doesn’t shadowtrap work as reliably.?
I am not sure if it is because of where it’s placed or where I cast the skill but half the time it ports me partially towards the trap but can stop at a wall. This really just makes things worse if I am using it to get out of trouble and I’m still there.
People won’t regularly report offenders. Maybe a thumbs down button at least let them get a karma rating or something.
I’ll agree with firebread here. Cele is a bit op and a good team should have at least a few running them which then tends to widdle down build and comp evolutions. Maybe reducing the stats than just throwing them out? Meh I dunno.

I really like the changes from the last patch. And it’s all just an evolution. I will say the leaderboards are better as well as the balance in matches.
I do notice however that the top players will more than likely not be the best ones but the ones that are slightly above average and play many many matches. It’s not perfect but its better and a step in the right direction.
It’s a pain for a whole team to get screwed over by one person. I just had a match that was tied and a player SYPHA.9283 raged and said he was going afk. Ruins a match for everyone. And he didn’t get kicked for afk but he did stay in the starting area. Probably just running against a wall. And he wont receive dishonor and we all lose points in a ranked match.
I think it would be great if each team in GvG and only in Sanctum could have a “lord” or someone marked that has to get taken down by the opposing team. This mark will be seen by the opposing team so they know who to target. This might be a fun concept.
I don’t have alot of GvG experience and perhaps this is the wrong thread. But I thought it would be great and simple to implement this.
Thank you. These upcoming changes sound great and really help when it comes to building a stronger pvp community. I would like to add a few more suggestions ankitten ot sure where to submit them.
One huge suggestion would be to make a better friends list. One big thing harming me when forming teams is that I cant keep track of friends character names and account names and on top of that what classes I think they are strongest at. I know there is nicknames but that isn’t enough.
Friends List Suggestions
- Add option to create groups of friends
- Let me know what class each player is using currently in a column (not just hover)
- It would be great to see what class each person has used the most in tpvp
- Ranks ingame on friends list instead of outside on the website
These may not sound important but even applying one of these changes would be huge to helping form a team and remembering who each person is and what their strengths are.

I thought a simple add on that could add some depth would be to add this function of allowing teams to stay together and go into teamque after a solo/hotjoin match perhaps. This way if you like a team you can continue on. I think it’s simple and could add depth.
This feature will fill up tpvp a bit more and could help make new teams instead of playing once and never seeing that team again. It might help with making more pvp friends at your level. Or the simple option to add some teammates as a friend.

Yeah. It doesn’t make much sense and could be more intuitive and easier to organize. A simple fix that could make a big difference.
How do you do that? Also wont that erase their account name?
I think a simple update to the friends list would be amazing and probably not to tough to implement. Mostly I SPvP and do some WvW. I’ve come across many great people who I want to tpvp/group with. I however do not remember all their names or account names or main class etc.
Right now it’s just a list of people, many of which I don’t remember why I added them. If I could make named folders for say tpvp and maybe even below that class folders that would be awesome!
Please fix/add this!
Boo hooo. This is so bad compared to how we got nothing before.
Just came to say this. I have had issues with the trading panel for a long time now. I would sometimes switch zones and it would work but now that doesn’t help. It seems to be getting worse.
Some of it may be a catch-22 but I believe before any further howls for balancing etc, SPvP needs to bring in revenue.
Revenue = Increased Attention/Fixes/Updates
Jeff Strain, and Patrick Wyatt both left the company back in the GW1 days, they both work at Undead Labs. Mike O’Brien is the current head honcho at Anet.

SPvP needs to make money to survive and flourish. If there is no money to be made there will be little investment into fixing anything, which is what we are going through right now. I want ANET to make tons of money from spvp, they will be happy and the community will have a better product.

GW2 tried to make money through paid arenas. Which is a great idea. Except for arenas have horrible options and are hard to customize with that options we do have. If the process was easier, and more modes and simple options were added that would make a huge impact, and a good start to a bit more revenue.
I believe if ANET wants to make big time money. They need to pump some resources into SPvP and market it to the millions of people that play LOL and DOTA etc. Many people just aren’t MMO fans and they see the GW2 as MMO with pvp attached. I see it as an awesome pvp game and do very little pve. There are many people in this boat, and I don’t believe the top brass at ANET understand this. I feel for the Devs at anet. They are taking all of our forum kitten talk and from what I gather they are doing the best they can with the resources they have. If the top executives don’t realize how much potential there is to profit from spvp, they need to take a vacation and let some forward thinkers take the reigns for a bit.

Nurture that kitten! You have no idea. The only reason people still play spvp is because the mechanic is good but the implementation is horrible. Easy fix!
Tell your boss. Stand up to them. Look at LOL DOTA etc. They are dancing around spvp in gw2 because they know they have something and how to work it. Meanwhile you invested time and effort to make a kitten game and you are seriously kittenting the bed with what you have created.
You know its a good update when after playing internally, you go home to play the ‘older’ game on live and wish you were back at the office.
With this quote I can say this is the first time since launch that I actually can believe something exciting might come. If it does disappoint the thread for which I am still hanging on to GW2 will be no more.
I spend more time scoping the forums for a glimmer of a brighter future than I do playing pvp anymore……

So I see a dev checked this out over a year ago. Can we please fix this? This is a dead rune in spvp. Not sure if it is broken in the real game as well. This would be an excellent rune if it actually worked.
So far for it to work in pvp I have to un-equip and re-equip 3 pieces of armor in the 10 seconds you have right as the match starts. If you die the effect no longer procs on heal.
I’m just glad you’re stepping in where anet wont. Worth a shot.

You guys should start a thread with software requirements, and workflow (from queueing to getting into a match), that you feel are ideal.

This is how it usually is. You want input from us and suggestions and good ideas. But its a one way street. How can we have discussions if there isn’t a lot of back and forth and openness about what going on.
Just frustrating that the gameplay is awesome but the implementation is crap and the community is dwindling.

Counter stealth 101
Black powder field
Thieves use heartseeker out of it to gain stealth. AOE that kitten. Swing/attack around that kitten without stepping into it.
Stealth heal.
AOE that kitten. Swing/attack the area. He is already low on health or wants to escape when it’s used. Be aggressive.
Shadow Refuge.
Push/Fear the thief out of that kitten. Swing/attack/aoe the area.
Instant Stealth Abilities/Traits
CC the area AOE that kitten, swing etc.
If there is a thief on the other team and you are getting focused, keep an eye on him. If you get to about half health thats when we love to strike. Just have what you can ready to defend or get out of a surprise backstab.
Don’t forget. You cannot cap/hold points with stealth. You have very few seconds to really stay in stealth unless you use blind powder perma steath in which case AOE that kitten. Especially if you see it against a wall they are there spamming 2.
I wrote this quick so it’s not in detail but it’s simple. I just see people crying about it. If anything thieves would probably have the most to cry about against other thieves and stealth. As its pretty much whoever gets the jump on the other that usually wins in a 1v1 with glassy thief.
More kids? Where are the kids now? PvP isn’t pulling in alot of numbers.
I believe there is plenty to counter stealth.
There are only a few ways to really play stealth and if you understand the mechanic you can counter it pretty well.
BLU’s doing a kitten good job. No one’s perfect but I believe BLU is getting better at his craft. Give em some constructive criticism or go make a shoutcast to rival his if you want something different.
I do agree with some of what ahuba and xoom pointed out, but I still believe that the gameplay is strong and there is a market out there that hasn’t had access to it and wont if they have to buy the mmo as a whole.
I believe more people may bring trolls but it will also bring more competition. More diversity.
all F2P MMOs make their money by selling you useful or cosmetic ingame items,
and pvp has practically neither, ergo they wouldn’t have a reason to offer pvp for free :P
If spvp was f2p I would probably end up either buying the game or purchase skins. It’s a great draw to bring in more customers to GW2 as a whole and give a jolt to spvp which sees a rise in players with every spvp focused update then seems to quickly fade. So it seems like a reasonable solution or option to boost spvp participation.
Wait, so you’re suggesting that people should be able to play the game’s tpvp mode without purchasing the game itself?
Yes. Just access to the mists and pvp matches. Rewards and achievements for a fee perhaps. To promote and influx of new players eager for pvp but not so much pve.
Stop trying to make spvp happen. It’s not gonna happen in the current state.
Open the heart of the mists up F2P and charge for access to cosmetic gear/gem store etc. This will give a boost to GW2 sales overall and spvp as well.
I had a solo pvp match that took 9 minutes to que and thankfully it actually was a full 5v5. But our team had a lvl 1 and a 9 mixed in with lvl 40-60.

I think he is hinting without saying that luck will matter some point soon. He probably cannot say anything about it just yet.
A skilled player with the sword will still be able to strip 2 boons consistently which is too much and I agreed with the change to one boon stripped. But I do like the idea of losing ini for missing.
Larcenous Strike – Increased boonsteal from 1 to 2. Decreased damage by 10%. Increased cost from 2 to 4 initiative. This ability now restores 2 initiative upon hitting a target.

I do however believe it is still gives sword dagger a bit too much power. The Lace strike doesn’t really matter in damage as much as the utility it has, and to give 2 ini back on success? Pretty powerful stuff.
The scorpion wire and other additions are great. I like the idea of some adding passive bonus. I will say ambush trab is already pretty balanced. Etc etc. Ill keep looking at these suggestions thanks for posting.

Well I will say that I have tons of luck already. And I personally feel more of a drive to get high level weapons and the tokens from salvaging those weapons from the mystic coffers.
As a pvp I don’t care much for luck either but if there is a future where drops happen during matches that would be interesting. I wouldn’t want to waste time picking up bags though. Hope it’s automatic on kills. But even that will have people like guards out of luck if they hold a pt. And have everyone making sure they get a hit on a person in a match moreso than winning the actual game.
I still say get rid of the tourney chests and make it mystic coffers or the ability to trade them in for glory.
If the setup was trusted I would get in on it.
