Many Many Many people have stacks of tourney chests. Not even worth opening. On the other hand I do enjoy opening the mystic cofferes. Had a couple dragon tokens come of it.
Thoughts on adding these as rewards chests instead?
I’ve had 4 – 4v5 soloq matches today.
Other people have been complaining about a high amount of these 4v5s going on today too. Also many [Dishonorable] debuffs going on as well. 2 days without playing though? That seems a bit harsh.
Weird things a brewing.
Turns out the sigil also has bugs.
The sigil seems to pop the buff fine on the first swap. But this doesn’t work the second time.
Why so many bugs with lifeleech?
Rune of Vampirism #4
Heal skill activates steal health does not work.
Please fix!
It works in the mists but not in matches.
How do you plan to make pvp more approachable to a solo player?
Do you have plans to balance out soloq further? ie. Less of a slot machine likelyhood for a win/loss
patch ladderbards
Lemme know if anyone drops this one. I’d like a #stabatit
I’d give it a few matches. It still has it’s faults but it’s been setting up some good matches this week for me.
Yup. 64.25.38.111:0
Forest Of Niflhel – 9:50pm Central Time
Some skill lag.

Option for custom arenas to have 1 node only (middle node).
1v1 , 2v2 with leader boards
Deathmatch
King of the Hill
This isn’t exactly true. There was a point in the last match where it really could have turned around and quickly. It was fun, quick, and made us think up new strategies we had never though of before. Its great to see the community taking it upon themselves to come up with new game modes with the tools we have at our disposal instead of focusing solely on waiting for official Anet changes.
Such a great tourney and game mode! Definitely want to see more of this in the future!
Thief:
- Critical Strikes 15 – Opportunist. Increased trigger chance to 50%. Increase cooldown from 1s to 5s.
I feel this is going to be a huge factor. 1s to 5s is a huge gap. I see where you are going with initiative changes but I would say 5s is too long of a wait for that initiative return. Many thieves may not know it but this is where they can regain a ton of initiative if they keep s/b going when not in melee combat.
Please consider changing this to 2-3 seconds!
Awwwww Yisssss
Hi Errryone.
I’ve been playing GW2 as a Thief since beta with a major focus on pvp.
I’m looking for a solid tpvp team with a good attitude in and out of the game, and consistent play schedules. My hours are flexible but I can usually be found online weekday afternoons.
I recently won a thief 1v1 tourney hosted by Lux.

I like the idea but I would make the trick or treat bags an addition to current chest rewards and not in-place of.
Our team Just Leave had a great time in the tourney. I want to thank vVv for running it!
Be sure to go and add them on twitch, twitter etc.

1. Rewards and Progression aka incentive to bring more players to spvp.
2. New Game Modes
3. Accurate Leader-boards / Point Rank Structure
Thief here.
Instead of ragging on your idea to make thieves a “normal” class, I’ll just say you might want to try evolving your build to counter it instead of adjusting a class to your lack of playing ability. Not sure why I’m even wasting my time in this topic.
I played a soloq game and I only dc’d twice!
Ctrl+F “PvP” in Patch notes – 3 matches found….
I would add a timer for how long you stay in spawn area. If it’s longer than x seconds within the first part of the game they can be replaced. The person replaced can have a “Instant join” pop up so they know what they are getting into. The player that afks will get a debuff.
Can you put a chat dialogue that states who left so you can keep in mind who likes to afk or leave early?
I would ramp up the debuff overall. It needs to be more potent.
If the player-base was given a better idea of ANET’s vision for pvp we can give better advice. This can help avoid deadends before they are implemented.
Thanks for the increase in responsiveness from you guys. We appreciate it.
I’m happy to see more responsiveness from the devs today. This is a big change. I hope it lasts.
I want to ask. How do you test new ideas or maps etc? Why are they so close looped? Why aren’t more people invited to test changes? The current method which lacks communication is counterproductive. If we knew what your big plans are we can tell you way ahead of time if it’s a bad idea or how it could be better instead of quitting or raging in the forums. My guess is that the pvp side may not have as large a dev pool so why not open it to more input from the people who are still in pvp.
SPVP’s a complex objective to tackle, lets do it together.
So, you basicly say:
No offense, this sounds almost like the stuff, students tell their teachers, when they get asked what they’ve done yet for a project and they don’t even have started, yet.
I agree. I wait for the day of the patch and the notes, and that’s all I allow myself to pay attention to. Everything else is vague and the dialogue with the devs is non existent and/or holds no substance. All I every hear is what they think we want to hear to tide us over.
You did steal my ransacker from that match but I got it the next. What’s your build? Is it top secrets? S/D. Rune of the ogre… thieves guild. juat else?
tldr: Marvin’s the #realdeal
I will say it again. Forget the forums here. They are pointless. Anet doesn’t listen or respond.
TELL THE MEDIA
Go to this link and tell massively all that is wrong with pvp in gw2.
http://massively.joystiq.com/contact/tips/
If there are articles or blog posts out there about this. ANET will change their tune.
Reach out to media.
An article on the state of pvp in gw2 will definitely spur some change.
Here is the link to reach out to Massively. If you have others go ahead and post em. http://massively.joystiq.com/contact/tips/
I think the 2 people that work in pvp work as hard as they can.
This. More resources should be put into pvp. I don’t believe ANET has figured out a good way to make money off pvp so it’s on the back burner. Maybe a f2p model or some more gem store pvp specific items (none that affect balance) would be a good idea. Either way I always suggest getting to the media so that at least it isn’t contained within the forums but through media attention and embarrassment ANET may change their tune. I suggest writing to massively or any other blogs to get the word out.
You can give massively a piece of your mind here at this link. – http://massively.joystiq.com/contact/tips/
Nevir.
I agree with the Oct 15th patch projections. But I also believe that pvp is lacking in attention and resources and large changes take an extremely long time to implement. There are people exploiting the rank system and this goes unpunished but in pve they are bannable offenses that are addressed immediately. In every step the general mood in my opinion is that pvp is on the back burner aka what the devs work on when they aren’t busy with pve. I wish more resources and attention and dialogue could happen with pvp devs. I just believe they don’t have enough to meet all the needs. One guess is perhaps there isn’t enough money to be made in pvp from anets point of view.
Nevir. Where do you think pvp is lacking and could improve? All I see is defense. I love GW2 pvp. But for it to improve we need to show some critique and have more open dialogue with the devs. They make changes as they see fit with out much back and forth. The current structure for changes keeps alot of things secret and private until it’s launched for the most part. Hence we ask for more transparency as the OP suggests.
Sorry that I went off topic. I do want to say that I agree with OP. Kudos. These are valid points. The forums seem like a lost cause with little real feedback from devs. Most of it just seems like damage control.
I strongly suggest voicing your opinions outside of the forums and to media. Where I think anet will hear it more clearly if they see our concerns in an article.

In the over a year this game has been out, how many things can you think of that anet has done in response to community feedback? How many changes have been made that were the complete opposite of what the community was asking for?
Sad but true.
See list above please.
Nevir can you just go work for free at anet? They need you. If they already pay you, can you focus on some real dialogue instead of kissing anets kitten ? Some back and forth maybe?
I love back and forth. Care to respond to any of my points?

I have always thought this to be a much needed thing. Thanks for posting.
Shortbow thief does some excellent damage to multiple targets and add sigil of fire to do even more. It’s also pretty fast too. I would build 10 30 0 0 30 so that you have some condi and the extra 15% damage at full initiative. The primary attack hits hard.
As a thief I think it should stay the way it is. No cap with stealth.
Sounds like some good ideas to me.
I guess. I suppose this also makes it less likely to see it used by many people the fact that its tricky to use.
Sorry for checking forums for GW2 info.
No popup when salvaging pvp gear.
I had a great 4v5 match where all I did was salvage! Thanks Anet!
No Gov No Balance
Yeah I completely agree, but having to know the terrain and only using it in certain places makes it useless. I sort of got the hang of it for a while that you need to be in the open and or not by some walls. But also height made a difference too. It has failed me too many times to be something I can rely on. It should work within it’s range 100% of the time for it to be valuable to me. Or those are my 2 cents at least.
I was playing with shadowtrap for a while and when it worked it was really awesome, but I had to scrap it due to the % of time that it didn’t work. It would usually catch me on a wall somewhere and prove useless or get me killed when I was trying to use it as an escape.
I would love to see this fully functional. Any thoughts?
So this basically brings up that level doesn’t mean much and it should.
- Devs arn’t banning for this like they would in pve (Reflects the respect devs give to pvp)
- Also shows that rank and how it was designed actually mean nothing. (Reason? If they jump in rank in pvp they aren’t losing money. If they jump in rank in pve they could be missing out on gem purchases for boosts etc.) It’s business I get it.
Make pvp more lucrative from a business standpoint and ANET will give it more attention. Right now it is a cherry on top for them that really generates little money compared to pve. I think more media and blogs should be reached out to and shown the state of pvp. Arguing in forums hasn’t resulted in change, but if the media gets a wiff they will put more resources into pvp.

If you have other media that might hear us out please post a link.
I believe F2P will breath new life into spvp but it will require a bit more tweaking before it is even ready for that, or it will also fail. More pvp gem purchasing options that wont interfere with balance.
- More game types (deathmatch, king of the hill etc)
- Better leader-boards
- New/more incentives with rank/points
Congratulations on being a worthless imbecile!
My hopes have been dashed. Stuff like this will make the thread a magnet for whining and intensify the giant shouting match, exactly what you claimed to be against. If you really want to improve the community, you’ll step away from the thread (or more likely, it will be closed by mods).
Show me a post that has improved the community and has had a real result in change of anykind for spvp.
What is their method? Is there a test server somewhere? How many people have access to it?
This is getting more and more of the feeling of a sinking ship. The most productive thing I could see is to show how spvp could make anet money and then change will probably happen.
It’s becoming a huge circle of giving feedback seeing little to no result, angry comments, then people saying we should calm down and give productive feedback and it starts over again.
I want to be positive, but I don’t think ANET will act on anything big in pvp until it hits rock bottom. So I say we keep giving our angry feedback and throw keep speaking out till we see some action or real effort on their part equal to Tequatl and Super Adventure Box. I think it’s complement to see angry posts because it means that people love the game, and would like to see it head in the right direction.
