Really Like My PU mesmer the most. No I may not beat most in a fight. BUT, I dont have to worry to much about getting ganked either. I just get in trouble, stealth out, and I am gone.

I am NOT gonna roam with her. She will run with the zerg, I will use her for zerg support.

Seems like in WvW, Rangers and Theifs and Conditons are the biggest fight. Like my mesmer, Its not so much building her to duel, its getting her happy behind out of a jam.

OMG……..I just had a thought……..I think I am gonna practice your rotation, I will use my dagger, Focus til I get to the zerg, then once I am running with them, I will switch to my staff. That just kinda came to me……sorry.

Can not tell you how much I appreciate your help asterix. Please dont shoot me sir, I may of not explained it right. I will be using staff in WvW. Dagger Focus Is something I will use in PvE.
The Rotation you suggested, is that for the Staff? and if its not, could you PLEASE give me a decent rotation for the staff?? I have NO clue how to add you to my friends list in game, if I did, I sure would, have you school me how to play her.

For now just using bathazar runes. Just starting to get a feel for it. So far, its different, and I like it. Just dealing with one element at a time, figuring out button combo’s, bla bla bla.

Still not sure on the food. The lemongrass poultry I saw suggested seems a bit expensive, BUT wvw is known for freaking conditions.

I just built my first ellie, I mostly play WvW and I am clueless. I will run dagger dagger, and staff. I pretty much run with the zerg. I am in a T2 server, so roaming, not a good idea.

I am 99 percent sure I will run a condition build. Now for the questions. What Armor do I wanna run, What runes and sigils do I need??? Not even sure what Skills I should use the most, and How I should trait her out….

I know thats allot of questions, so ANY input would be so greatly appreciated. I am so clueless…….Thanks

I am for sure gonna hold off. See if they drop the price. My biggest complaint is ANET is not real great at dealing with in game issues. Especially WvW. If the price does not drop well I will take that money and buy the new Bat man game coming out.

I am not sure why, but seems like YB is back in the game now and logging in. I think its great. We had our keep taken, and stuff in our bl taken.

Nice to see you guys back, I have not seen the hacker around either. Hope they got banned.

Exploits@arena.net is the best place to report these things. Yes, it is used to report in-game exploits, but it can also handle reports like this. Moving forward, it’s probably best that reports go there instead of on the forums.

I think that that time everyone complained about the thief that was hacking, and did so in this forum has allot of people hoping for the same results with new hackers.

Not only did Anet step and say yep, he was hacking, he gave us a youtube link of him getting banned.

With thief’s, I have started using a different approach. After they hit me once and disappear, I simply stand still, and wait. I will get null field ready, the second they come out of stealth, I throw null field on top of us both, they disappear, I get blink ready, second they come out, I blink out of it, then I start using my stealth, rinse and repeat.

What really makes me mad, not only is this guy cheating, and making us look bad on FA, I am smart enough to see what we on FA have in store.
YB is gonna be MAD, and we are gonna pay for it dearly. Not only will they golem rush all out stuff, they are gonna camp and defend it. Would not surprise me to see yb get a way point in our eb keep.

Its gonna be a tough couple of weeks.

hmm … the 3rd screenshot is impossible. cant jump that high without hax. characters cant jump over about the level of the vista map icon thing. either he jumped off the lighthouse top, which is hax, or he jumped higher than normal or flew, which is hax.

Yea, I been thinking of switching to gs and staff. So I am forsure gonna change that. Just not sure how to get rid of stupid “conditions”, other than “null field”. Portal bombs are nice, just getting commanders to use them is tuff. Blink is something else I really rely on allot.

Did see you use a skill I never tried before, looks like a monkey patting his head. Gonna play with that instead of using decoy. I appreciate all the input. Thank you so very much.

That just took me to a page with a bunch of video’s that really don’t seems to offer any input on my desire to change things up a bit. I do how ever appreciate the effort.

I am on a t2 server. Pretty much run with the zerg. I am running zerker armor with travelers.

Using 4 4 6 for traits and use great sword and sword/torch off hand.

Getting kinda bored with this set up, been running it forever, any other ideas or imput???

It will end the same way it always ends. FA will stomp YB and SOS into the dirt. Its just what they do.

Never pick a server that is dominating the points. Things always change. I am on a t2 server. and imho, go with a tier 4 server, get a commander tag, This will give you both the options of roaming around solo, or picking up a small group and going after things. I myself am giving serious thoughts to dropping to a t4 server. T2 or above your simply looking at blob fights.

Well, FA was the big dog. Now it appears that is no longer true. YB has stopped turtiling, and there numbers and simply HUGE.

They are now gonna be the big dog in t2. Props to em. Im on FA, and not ashamed to admit it, yb is just owning us all over the map.

Most look at the use of siege as a lack of fighting skills. If the blob is so big you think you have to have it to beat them, chances are the siege is a waste cause they will simply steam roll you and take it out first.

So for the siege and turtle servers. Your simply looked at as a joke in open field fighting.

Yea, not a fan of this. So I will avoid WvW for today, pick it back up tomorrow.

While I am on t2. From my experience. If you do go t3, take a hard look at sbi. Man that server is not afraid to fight the t2 blobs in open field, and I am not kidding, this sever has some great fighters. They owned us more than once. (I am on FA).

They put up a much better fight than some of the t2 severs and can really hold there own. If they had the numbers, they would own t2 no problem.

Yea, every time we go to take something, my first thought is hello ac shower. I about joined that server, but na, I like open field fights.

LOL, Thought the same thing. Have fought lots of servers, never seen one so bad about hiding behind ac and siege.

What makes it worse is when the score starts to blow out, the pve players either show up in force for map completion, or stop playing because they are getting owned.

FA faced a T1 server, Oh did we get spanked bad. To Bad SBI does not have the players, when we faced them, they sure could fight well. Did not matter what the odds were, they had no problem facing us in open field battle, and doing well.

Now we face another week of Arrow cart showers, and tons of siege. Takes forever to get them to come out of hiding and fight.

The only thing the t3 guys can really do is double team the other server. Normally, Not of a fan of that kind of game play, but what other options do you have???

When a server is placed in a tier they don’t belong, it makes the game simply no fun for any one. I feel so bad for t3 server. When it is that lopsided, all the pve players jump in the mix for map completion. That just adds insult to injury. The one server that would do somewhat ok if they went up a tier is yb. They turtle so bad, and find great enjoyment hiding behind TONS of siege and especially Arrow carts.

We call them the arrow cart server.

Balance issues will never be fixed. Using my server as a example. If we are winning and doing well, the PvE players all come out to play for map completion or in search of a karma train.

Another fact, Yea, My server is top dog in t2 at THIS moment. So we get lots of people transferring. We are simply the flavor of the month.

In time, we could implode, start loosing bad. If and when that happens, the PvE players will stay away, and people will transfer to the new flavor of the moth server.

Last but least, With the expansion coming, who knows how many will continue to play WvW or find the new PvE stuff more enjoyable. You also have to consider, the Game is getting old. People have had there fun, and moving on to other games. Thats just my 2 cents.

Oops forgot. Having commanders on map really makes a difference. Again, we are Winning, Everyone wants to tag up. We are loosing, Good luck finding anyone to tag up.

I was on FA when we faced a T1 server. Think it was JQ. WOW. They owned us hard. I agree it seems like I am seeing more people move to t2 for the fights, and the fun. May be wrong, but if you love wvw, T2 seems to be the sweet spot.

I see lots of people moving to FA. My guess they see us at the top of the heap at the moment, so go there. Could be FA keeps getting players, they may make us fight a T1 server. FA will get owned kitten T1.

Yea, thats the whole thing with mesmers, they are SO slow with out the travelers, and on T2 anyway, you dont keep up your gonna get ganked, and that is frustrating when your commander is on the other side of the map, you get close, only to have a small group gank you.

While I so appreciate every one’s input, and I do have a extra set of zerker armor, I am gonna wait for this expansion to hit. See what weapons we get, let all the changes happen, the nurfing, the buffing. While I could carry focus for the speed, I just so like the torch and that stack of invisibility has gotten me out of trouble lots of times.

I am still working on getting better with the pu mesmer, using my stacks of invisibility and blink to get me out of trouble, and staying back line for support, I just think taking away the travelers would be a big mistake.

Been using travelers on my mesmer, but wondering if superior rune of the pack would be a better choice??? I mostly play WvW and really don’t roam much, pretty much run with the zerg. Just seems like my mesmer simply does not hit hard. Using zerker gear. Just wondering if switching runes is gonna make me run super slow……..Appreciate any and all imput. I think this new expansion is really gonna change things for awhile. Myself, I am gonna wait and see how it goes. Of course with the new class the starter areas will be filled with them. It will take time to get it sorted out. Anet will have to buff this, nurf that. People will throw fits.

With new open areas of the map, it will be interesting to see how it affects WvW. Could be a game changer, who knows.

I manly play WvW. I run zerkers with travelers. My build is based off the same build one of the best mesmers I have EVER seen. In fact he schooled me but good. In WvW, you are not gonna run across a fair fight. Gank Squads are just waiting for ya. Invisibility Is the key to helping the mesmer survive in WvW. I can stack about 15 seconds with a extended blink trait that can get me out of any thing.

Null field is your best friend. I spent a day in pvp with a friend that was a necro. I let him hit me with all his conditions. It took him forever to kill me, and in open world, I would of been LONG gone. Decoy is another must have trait. Fought a Dragon, he threw fear, I threw decoy, and I went no where. Blink is the third must have. You can really move around, even bound, and that gets you out of the kill zone.

I look at my mesmer as support for the group. I play the tiny race, and I am the mesmer that helps the zerg retake major objectives. If we are gonna loose the hills, or keep, or bay, well I am gonna do my best to hide so we can get it back asap. Still finding nice little hiding spots. My success rate is pretty good.

The key to a great mesmer is practice. Try different spots above and across to see if blink will work. Look around and think out side of the box for hiding spots. You would be amazed at all the spots normal sweeps always miss. Will it work every time, NO, but it will work lots of times and is a hoot when you get away with it.

Arkane thievery, is simply a waste, I run gs, for back line zerg fights, Throw null field on my team to remove conditions, Have a sword if a thief thinks he is gonna gank me, and my torch to go invisible. (the cleansing torch trait, not real great.). I run a 4 4 6. They cant hit you with conditons if they cant see you. Oh, one last thing. I can solo orr no issues. GS for range, and nice sword skills for the ones that are dumb enough to get in my face.

Coming from a T2 we HATE fighting t3. Just no fun for anyone. We steam roll em. Last month we have come in first place, buy quite a bit, and the still throw us on T3. Makes no sense.

I play my Mesmer with WvW in mind. Hate pvp. My goal is to simply help the group take, or retake a objective, I am the Mesmer that hides in SMC, or Hills or Bay or Garry, or even keep. I use stealth as my main weapon. Once inside an objective, if it looks like we may loose that fight, I stealth, go hide.

Imho, I disagree. I play LOTS of wvw and have filled out and farmed orr solo using that build. I have even roamed around solo in wvw and did fine. I use Great Sword and Sword Torch off hand, and it has served me well. I use beserker armor.

Any build is viable, just depends on your play style and how well it works for you. I like the playing in the back and helping the zerg, but if some thief decides he wants to gank me……well he is in for a bit of a surprise.

T1 is pretty much blob on blob. T3 has to face a t2 server so they they get steam rolled all the time. Go either T2 which still has blobs, but at times of the day its pretty quiet and you can roam or do some havoc. T4 has some good fights. Much smaller blobs.

IMHO don’t try and pick the server based on the wins. One server may be the power house, and a month later, they are dead last. Myself I like T2. can find people around most the time.

If you like to command, that is a big plus!!! Maps always need commanders.

On my server FA, we tend to get into some LONG fights. Just last week spent close to 2 hours just trying to take a bay. We got it finally, but it was a heck of a fight, and one LONG fight.

I am giving serious thoughts to transferring, one of the T2 servers is just is just good at taking something in the enemy’s bl, then defending it. They use that sneak attack. The server I am on, won’t do that.

Just not sure how to build for WvW. Mostly run with the zerg. When there is one. More or less have to run by myself.

Survivabilty if my main key. I am old and can be slow on the buttons. Not even sure which race to go with. Little guys look fun.

When you see there zerg, throw a couple of arrow carts behind you, then bait them into the siege. You may still die, bit get a tiny bit of satisfaction. Also, pull a yb, take something in there bl, Like the hills or bay. Siege to the hilt, camp, and wait for the zerg. YB is destroying us on FA with that little trick. Commanders will throw zerg after zerg at all that seige, the bags and fun you guys will have will help moral.

I am from FA. I agree. There is no WAY sos should be fighting on T3. I also HATE the idea of double teaming a server, but in this case, its the only way you guys have of standing a chance against SOS, and I am sure SOS is not happy either. Everyone wants fights, No one wants a steam roll.

It does concern me that next week you guys will be facing us in FA. On a personal level, all I can say, if I see you guys trying to take something of ours, I sure won’t say a word to anyone. I HATE the idea my server will steam roll and farm you guys. Chances are, I won’t even play much at all that week. Maybe just roam solo and hope I run across a couple of you guys, feel free to gank my toon, dance on my dead corpse, and get a tiny bit of satisfaction.

We have all complained about balance issues. So Anet is trying some rule changes to see if that helps the Balance issue.
Figures people would complain about there attempt to try and help. No wonder they ignore the WvW crowd. No matter what they do, people complain.

Few questions with buying outfits. Are they account bound or soul bound? Do I need to get the toon to 80 before I use the new outfit?

I gave some thought to what you guys had to say. You were right, I think my armor is fine, and my weapons are ok. I just need to adjust my play style. I use her more for sniping from the back of the zerg, and if some thief wants to play, I simply switch to my great sword and open fire.

WOW!! thank you guys SO very much for all the input. I know the travelers Sigil’s really dont help much, especially if you use “rage as one”. Its kinda why I am here to talk to you guys about it. Could be my computer, but the build editors you guys are linking are not showing me the information I am looking for.

What Armor, What is the Name of the Weapons you use, What are you using for Sigil’s and Rune’s. Always get them mixed up.

With Pets, I do like the wolf for “fear”. Does help. Before I rebuild, I gotta find a way to get them Travler’s Runes Out out of my gear. I hate to loose em. They were expensive.

You all make think I am nuts, probably am, Just ready to rebuild her, get different Armor, New Runes and Sigils, and While I am not sure it will help me much, Can’t hurt to try, been playing her this way for a Long time.

Thank you for you input fluffball. I am starting to think maybe it is time to change professions. I do have a 80 warrior that I have not had out in a very long time. Think I will dust him off, and see if I can solo a camp by myself. Seems like that may be the best way to see what works and what dosent for my play style.

Oh I forgot to add, I am using Knight Armor.

I love my ranger, but is sure seems squishy. I am getting owned hard even in one on ones.
I use Long Bow/Great Sword Build. I know many will ask what build do I wanna go with. I have NO clue. I always play WvW. Pretty much run with the zerg, its rare I roam, because lets face it, I roam, I get owned hard.

My globe only shows 16,700. Have seen video’s of rangers with much higher globes of 20 or even more.

The Runes I use are Travlers, and my weapons have Sigil of Torment, Sigil of Air, and Sigil of Fire.

I wanna tear this ranger Down, and Start from the ground up, and HOPE you guys can help me. I know there is no perfect build. There has to be a build that can survive a bit better, and do some damage in wvw. I appreciate any and all imput. Thank you and have a nice day…….
