I noticed you did not do too much damage just a ton of cloak and dagger, the only time you did any real damage was on a crit. Oh the better half would like to know how bruised your ego is when you got taken down by an Asuran engie! She hopes that you filmed it up to that part and do not edit it out.

Well in the end it was a necro, engi and npc that got me. Dying is not a big deal and most of time I learn alot more when I am killed than when I win.

I think lots of players are getting used to the runes now and they are not as strong as when they first came out. They can be easily countered by stability, invun, and condition removal. Also with classes and builds like stun/lock cc wars, phant mesmer, necros, bm regen rangers and perma stealth thiefs these runes aren’t really op at all. It take some skill to land interups and it punish button mashers I think they are a nice addition to the game.

Its also very nice to see gc thiefs hs spam themself to dealth

I have made this suggestion in a few post already but maybe Anet could keep the new ascended gear a pvE thing only and upon entering WvW the gear would be scaled down to exotic stats. I know that lots of wvwers current builds are based on using ascended trinkets so that would remain the same.

Go test your skills in wvw and if you dont like to run with the zerg run in a 5-10 man group or even go solo if you really wanna test you skills.

I dont think new ascended gear will be an issue in pve but wvw now thats a different story. Lots of WvWers dislike pve and would rather avoid it. WvW can get quite competitive and no one wants to be at a disadvantage. WvWers will be forced to grind to get the gear ito remain on equal footing, its worse for those who have alts with a couple of different sets for each toon.

Some peope will do the grind but I think this matter will cause some people to move onto a different game. It’s asymmetrical and ugly;

A PvE player will get the gear, and can go into WvW if they choose

A WvW player must go into PvE to obtain a complete set of gear

How in the hell does that fit in with Arenanet’s supposed “play how YOU want” partyline?

Ok so most of us know that the new ascended gear(weaps and armor) will be introduced by the end of the year. I personally am not a fan of pvE and I dont want to have to grind for my gear again. I also have several alts who have several different set each because we all know playing the same build for awhile gets boring. If the current system on acquiring ascended items is anything to go by(daily, Fractals, guild missions) I am not optimistic that it’s going to be any easier to get the new gear.

What does the rest of the WvW community think about this issue?

Been seeing alot of warriors roaming about lately who can easily gtfo when ever they like. Warriors currently have the advantage over a thief in a 1v1. The are better in small roaming groups (eg tanky hammer war) and better in zerg battles aswell.

Lot of Aussies here on Isle of Janthir (me and my mates WA) come and join us. Suppression is an active Aus guild you could join if interested.

OP fyi its more powerful on mesmer than on a thief.

Running runes of perplexity has its pros and cons but can work pretty well will be posting some vids soon.

Just curious when you say power 2850+, did you mean Attack instead? Even going full zerker armor, orbs, full zerker ascended trinkets, full deadly arts, both power consumables, the build calculator is only giving 2600+ Power

But anyway, its great that someone is championing P/P. The whole gunslinger thing is what drew me to thief in the first place..

So with this build you can pretty much take all classes. The damage is decent and you have good survivablity. Phant mesmer and stun lock wars can be tough you really have to make good uses of you blinds and evades.

Most of the damage output will come from unload and sneak attack. I generally like to start off with unload followed by sneak attack(steal on steal). This gives time for your initiative to regenerate and if you alternate between the two you can keep up you intiative.

Shadow Refuge is a situational skill sometimes I will use it to burst or sometimes I will use it to hide. You can get 2 sneak attacks out of shadow refuge and you can sneak unload then sneak attack again timing is key. Also last refuge will save your but alot with this build

The build has decent condition removal via shadows embrace, shadow step, and Shadow Return.

Sword/dagger: This set is really good for mobility and hitting multiple enemies it also address a big weakness of p/p which is high retaliation builds.

Something I try to do if I am facing a good opponent is mix things up. For example I’ll start of with sd Infiltrators strike to the enenmy get a few hits in cnd then shadow return switch to pistol then sneak basically just try to keep them guessing.

Dual pistol is one of the thiefs weaker sets but its lots of fun and you can still do well if you play right. Enjoy if you have any question just ask :]

Ok so I have been getting a lot of requests for the build. The build is basically a balanced build you wont be seeing massive number but you will focus more on kiting and doing sustain dmg.

Also I would recommend you carry s/d as you 2nd weapon set for add mobility, easier access to stealth, and boon stripping to deal with high retaliation builds.

Something to note is when you are standing in blackpowder the war 100b can still hit you with several hard hits as the blinds cannot be applied fast enough.

Most of the people that fight for IoJ every week are pugs in CORE and HARD’s eyes. It’s frustrating to get yelled at for "pugs not listening" in map chat when I’m the only one on the map on the commander, including all the CORE and HARD people that have run off to pvdoor. I respect your guilds’ contributions to wvw, but our server is mostly pugs, whereas we’re fighting servers with very established wvw guilds. You have to respect the fact that most of us pugs that play lots of wvw contribute way more to wvw than all the CORE people that have spent all week in the pve world getting those achievement points. Honestly, where did CORE go this week? I haven’t seen a CORE commander all day.

I respect HARD. Your guild is great, and you do great things for IoJ. But give credit where it’s due. TEST, PNOY, TRIBO, AR contribute almost as much to our server as you guys, even if you guys like to claim all the credit here on the forums.

I am sorry if I offended anyone who considers them self a pug . I know pugs are the back bone force of ioj and one of the main reasons we do well each week. In my statement I didn’t exactly mean pugs but noobs that don’t have a clue what they are doing and don’t follow orders. That being said there is nothing wrong with being new everyone was a noob at some point and we all have to start somewhere.

Yea that was me you were being annoying lol and as you said you did laugh at me. You guys heavily outmanned us for most of the night we won all of the even fights(I think) and most the outmanned ones aswell. You do realize you team was tower and keep hugging so much tonight even when you guys outmanned us they still ran.

Fyi i was fraps most of the night and on several occassion I was 1v5ing. The only times I ran is when that phantasm mesmer had multiple iduelist up and there were still 4+ of you guys left over. A phantasm mesmer on his own is enough trouble. Did you really expect me to stay and fight all of you alone? I really like keeping my stacks ;0

hahah its not coz its gonna be ultra powerful its coz its gonna be fun ofc a normal zerg would flatten a zerg of thiefs . A zerg of guards would be so much stonger and prob unstoppable if play right and tbh you dont have to play well with a guard and you can stil make a big impact. Alsocan u imagine a zerg of Mesmers holy f that would be so confusioning for both sides.

Well had a great time in Dr bl tonight with my 5 man group so much no stop action. It was very enjoyable taking on groups 2-3x our size and winning . Thank you for all the loot bags dr. Oh and the 3way at Greenlake tower was intense. Watch out for the FT tag this week Dr there will be a few of us roaming around in your bl for the remainder of the week

Turn I had a bugged weapon anything like this happen to anyone else?

Yes ty I just switched my pistol and it works as normal but when i put my other pistol on it doesn’t work. I have a bugged pistol that causes iduelist projectile finisher to not proc so wierd. Thanks again for the reply was having a bit of a freak out thinking mesmers got nerfed again

Ok so I took a break from my mesmer for just over a month and I went on tonight for a bit of a play and to my horror I find iduelist has been nerf. It not longer applies reliable stacks of confusion when firing from an ethereal field. I had quick look over the patch notes and there is no mention of this being changed. Jeez! this is so annoying when did this happen?

Well with the current meta of high lvl tpvp the thief class as a whole need some addressing. On its own yes pp has a few weakness but if you mix it up with sd its a really powerful set. You have all the mobility and escapes you will need and one of the highest ranged dps. It addition with sd you will be able to deal with high retaliation build.

Oh and yes I do realize this is def not viable for high lvl tpvp
