Yes we already know how bias you are on the matter, you have already said so 4 or 5 times in different threads. You also have said dd cele is fine and burning is fine.

You might have noticed the scorched earth from torch.
If you stand close to Mesmer the shatter will reveal him, same as for thief.

Nope not acceptable at all mesmer has easier access to stealth and therefore should not be able to have spam it indefinitely. There is some counter play to Cnd and Bp, though some would already say there isn’t enough. This class already has many different forms of dmg mitigation giving more stealth is silly.
I not saying that mesmers are going to just stay in stealth and spam phantasms 24/7 but the ability to do it isn’t right. There will def be situations whereit will be beneficial. Its already hard enough to pin down a mesmer the ability to perma disengage or reset fights at any time is just stupid.
Still doesn’t change the fact that the mesmer can still summon multiple phantasms and do a lot of dmg with out breaking stealth. Before mesmers used to use stealth strategically it give it some breathing room and set up there burst now mesmer are a total joke, takes no skill land there attacks. If you fail stealth and retry over and over.
Cele engi is far from dead its still very good.
While it’s stealthed it’s not doing damage. So I don’t care.
I just want their access to invulnerability and blocks to be shaved. Was fighting a Mesmer today who was using Vamp runes, was traited for reflects and was Distorting multiple times while I was fighting him. On top of Blinds and Blurred Frenzy… Either he was invuln or I was blinded like 80% of the time I was fighting him. That sh_t needs to not be a thing. Guardians can do the same but at least they can’t stealth and run away if they fail.
Your forgetting they can summon phantasms which can do lots of dmg and doesnt break there stealth.
Yes cele necro can easily go toe to toe with ele thats true. The thing is they don’t bring the support that an ele can and they are no where near as mobile.

every 1 know engi is bottom of the food chain now.
1.engi have stealth but compare to memser its laughable
2. Engi mao is aoe but transform duration is short. previously memser mao is balance cause cd is long but now u can use it 2 x in a row
3. People will have to accept currently new memser spec is 2 strong

It was always a kind of a waste to run into healing power. Since healing power scales horribly you might aswell just of ran a celestial set instead and have heals and dmg at the same time.
The main benefit of healing bombs was it allowed engi to attack and heal at the same time, honestly that was really good. Also combined with the fact the damage output was lower b4 patch and engi could take back pac regen, elixir s, HB, evasive powder keg(also proc HB) with and energy sig(more EPK=more HB) made an engi with really good sustain. IP used to be better and would be easily proc when you healing being defensive and attack at the same time. Sigh I miss the good old days

Nothing hardcounter ele but cele necro is a soft counter. Does everything in the game need a hardcounter?
Viable? yea kinda. Optimal? Nope!
The Op main Ele and is prob scarded about all the negative attention they have been receiving.
Op is prob an Ele or Mesmer main trying to shift some attention away from those two classes. Everyone know engi is worse off since patch hit.

Build:
FIREARMS--Chemical rounds--Pinpoint Distribution--Incendiary Powder
ALCHEMY--Protection Injection--Self Regulating Defences--HGH
Toosl-Reactive Lenses--Streamlined Kits--Adrenal Implant
(I take tools over inventions mainly because Mechanized Deployment is just really a powerful trait in this build).
Runes: Baltharaz
Sigils: Energy--optional Doom, Torment or Battle.
Amulet-Celestial you will constantly have stacks of might up and with have over 1k condi dmg which is enough. You can go Rabid but I find that the extra defense from cele really helps and when you have a couple stacks of might FT can do some ok dmg.
Also I have been facing alot of ele that run diamond skin and when I had the rabid ammy on it was driving me nuts that I could do nothing to them.
If enemy teams and multiple stealth classes I modify the build.
Alternate runes: Traveler and in traits take Analyze as Steamlined Kits is no longer needed.
Imo Traveler runes and quite decent 10% condi duration to all condi 15% boon duration and 25% movement it can really work well.
Weaps; PP, Utility Elixir S, FT, EG or Elixir U. Elite is Elixir X.

Yes because the game is totally balanced around 1v1 duels by two people.
Ist if you running a condition build you should try and fit as much burning on it as possible because its so strong atm.
That said its not really any competition between the two runes Balthazar win hands down. You will gain a significant in dps output and while only losing a tiny bit of toughness.

Okay, but thieves could do that for how long now? Ah yes, since the beginning.
Its a combination of things. Thief is much easier to predict and the burst isn’t as high(yes there is some set up to mes shatter). Thiefs have to get with in melee range to do any really dmg and it leaves vulnerable which isn’t the case with mesmers. Mesmers can get there interupts off from range and they have easier access to stealth with decoy and torch, its easier to interupt a hs+bp combo.
Also all the clones can clutter up the screen causing it to take a sec or 2 longer to actually spot and target the actually mesmer and with the current pace of the game every second counts big time.

Op I agree with you, I said same thing after playing the patch for couple hours. Other classes just doing things better then engi now. Necros also hard counter engi much than pre-patch.
Been running a hybrid tanky type build in pvp will upload vids soon.
Eh buringing isn’t to bad you have necros and diamond skin ele that can totally shut down condi builds. Other classes have stealth, ports and invulnerable skills that can deal with all types of dmg. Raw dps is far superior to burning/condi dmg.
I think just lowering the base dmg of burning just by a little would be enough. Alternatively you could have a cap on the stacks of burning.
Its a great idea and would def see alot more use if it was implemented.
They just need to allow for diversity by allowing us to substitute higher tiered triats for lower ones.

Nope in pvp they are uderpowered apart from burning. You don’t even have time to really apply condis because raw dps is so high you can be blown up in seconds.

Exactly this, I would be much happier if they allowed us to this for the game. I think it would makes this more interesting and help build more variety.

Diversity is worse because the new system is so constricting. Would allowing as to substitute higher teir traits for lower ones make balancing that much harder?
Burning isn’t that bad, condi builds aren’t as powerful as raw dmg builds atm.
I think like always condi is the best way to deal with mesmers. If they are in inspiration they have some counter to it but i doubt most mesmers are currently doing that.
Ehh not really, currently mesmers well most defintly blow up any almost any condi spec b4 that have a chance to stack condis. Mesmers with interrupts, stealth, ports and insane burst are kinda God mode atm.
Burning is kinda fine the way it is, maybe it could be toned down just a touch. In general condition builds and dmg pales in comparison to raw dps. You dont really even have much time to stack condis because have you go from 100-0 in seconds.
Wasn’t as bad as b4 the patch now they are getting out of hand.
Please allow us to at lest substitute the lower tier traits for highers one. A lot of the option for the grandmaster traits are just horrible. In so many cases I would rather take a master trait.
Power shoes is gone, cloaking device is gone. I have go to into the whole tools line just for speedy kits.
The trait the reduced both flamethrower and eg is gone. Alot of the Master traits are better than the grandmaster traits and now you cant take them instead. I could go on on but whatever.
Build variety also to a big hit meh..

I know its still very early but some many combo of traits and don’t seem to have as much synergy as b4. Now we have to take a who trait line when we just want want thing from it.
Lots of good traits got gutted, just feel like things build were better before the update.
I really like the idea about getting an overhaul, and I’m excited to get the specializations.
But.
I’m kind of bummed that all my work to get skill scrolls and buy skills for my low level characters will go to the trash bin.
In the new mastery system, only two things give you back your skills (which are wiped away with the update), level and skill challenges.
I know people say “this just gives you incentive to go level them up”, but this game shouldn’t be just about getting to level 80, or at least shouldn’t force you to do so to enjoy it how you have enjoyed it up until a certain point.
People are going to point out to me, that when we got the new player experience, this put a burden on other people who decided to have an under-level character. My take on that was that it wasn’t too bad, and if you got your level 30 elite equipped you could hold onto it without having to get to level 31. Yes the skill points at that time hurt, but we accepted them, used more skill scrolls / did more work to get our low level characters the right skills.
Now, there is NO way for you to get your low level character the right skills unless you go out and get more skill-points, which may inadvertently level your low level character. All your hard work is wiped clean, and there is nothing you can do about it.
Yes, many of my low level characters did do skill challenges – but I don’t think it will be enough, I’ll have to re-skill up my 30+ low level characters (held at a very specific level) to once again have the right skills to do what I enjoy.
I know I’ll have to do a bit of hard work to get all the skills I want, and I’m ok with that.
But.
There is a part of me who wishes that we didn’t get all of our skills reset for this reason. And another part of me who now thinks that low level characters really get hit hard by this skill – mastery change.
Huh what? can you link the source that says our scrolls with become useless? Also is there info about what will happen to tombs of knowledge?
Just log in and try it for yourself op. Try every thing out pvp, wvw, and pve and see if any of them peek your interest. Also try different profs because depend on which prof you play can have a big impact on you gaming experience.
Op I absolutely disagree, you got what you payed for. It doesn’t affect you if newbies get the core game for free. Actually its better for the game to attract new players.

Common really $50 aint that much, its kinda standard. How much do most of us spend on a night out or other forms of entertainment. This game is the basically the best value for money you can get.
That said, I think adding an extra character slot in the basic xpac would be nice.
Yea engi got lots of changes which will really only give them more diversity. It won’t not make them the strongest prof once all changes are implemented.
Engi probably won’t be in a better spot within the new meta than they are right now. I would bet thief and mesmers are going be stronger and much more complained about than any other class.

^ the reason condi rangers are so strong against engies is that we can dodge and evade many of engie’s condis. that and a properly timed entangle is basically gg. when the engie uses his healing turret, I know I’ve already won.

If thats what you are on about then there is no issue. If someone else gets a better deal good for them. New players coming to the game is great for the community.
The real issue to discuss is the $50 dollar price tag, I think an extra character slot would make most people happy.
