New game.
Clever. Any other brilliant features you’d like to see?
Glad that you’re sticking around?
As am I!
However, I will be subbing to WildStar. I thoroughly enjoyed the beta weekends I’ve done so far.
The best part is that GW2 is free, so I don’t have to quit to keep my wallet in tact whilst also playing a P2P game.
I wouldn’t mind being able to duel as long as, like you said, there is a toggle for it.
Nothing more annoying than being bombarded by duel requests from everyone and their dog.
New zones!
I would love to see more of this blurred out world map fleshed out.
If you think the gold spam is bad in this game, you will have a really bad time playing any MMORPG.
…We just had a major patch that actually mattered. I think I can say I’m done with the forums. All we have here is whining about the content or the lack of it, occasionally both at the same time.
The patch was great for some stuff, although traits got sort of kittened; I think 90% of the people on the forums agree on that. If you have a problem with other people having problems with the game, then I’m really sorry! If all you claim to see is people whining about the problems with the game, then… does that tell you anything? Maybe there really are some problems with the game.
I’m getting tired of people complaining about people complaining.
That doesn’t indicate that there are any problems with the game.
That indicates that you cannot cater to everyone.
The whining and complaining is, in about 90% of all these threads, absolutely ridiculous.
About 10% of the threads actually have any sort of constructive criticism.
If people knew how to be constructive with their feedback, we wouldn’t be so annoyed by all the whining and complaining.
Edit: Don’t get me wrong, the game isn’t perfect, but it sure is nowhere near as bad as the forums would lead you to believe. Trust me, I have plenty of gripes, but if I were to vocalize them, I would be constructive.
“We really like where the player base is right now, it actually hasnt dropped a significant amount and as of today it is very healthy” -Anet lead designers
ME: yea thats why you put the mega server cause there is just sooooo many ppl
Or maybe the way the servers used to work just split the players up too much?
Can you prove that they have lost as many players as the forums would lead you to believe? Or do you believe it because that’s the mentality on the forums, and no other reason at all?
(edited by viralthefrog.6130)
More gem shop content.
Well, they have to make money to keep the game running somehow, don’t they?
Don’t like it, don’t buy it. It’s not P2W, so you’ll be fine without it.
Hilarious. This thread appears, and in a very few minutes is filled with more staunch advocates of “anything they do is right” than all of the other megaserver threads, one after another.
Really guys..sad that you apparently need to make this kind of effort
That works both ways, friend.
Sad that apparently so many people need to make this kind of effort to complain.
I would reckon could go down in history as the worst update in MMO history.
As someone who played SWG for years prior to the NGE, and a month or so afterwards, I would bet a fair bit of money that you’re wrong on this one.
My experience has drastically improved. I no longer have to call out champs in /map and hope people show up for it.
In fact, I’ve only had to call out one champ since the megaserver hit, and there were people there within seconds.
I wasn’t a fan of how dead all the zones seemed, and now they’re just right for me.
If there’s better things to do than play a game that isn’t fun anymore, you would think there would also be better things to do other than complain about a game you don’t think is fun anymore.
It’s really not worth it unless you like grindy, zergy, shallow and ultimately unrewarding content that strongly nudges you towards spending real money on gems to convert to gold.
They even put a “buy now” button on the new wardrobe, because you need to buy charges in order to change the look of your gear.
There are more than enough ways to get charges to reskin your gear.
I got 4 last night and they didn’t cost me a dime.
If Tengu was an option, I would reroll all my current non-Charr characters.
Then I would go the half Tengu, half Charr route for all of my characters.
If Skritt were an option, I would highly considering adding one into the mix of Tengu/Charr lovin’.
My character select screen would be beastly.
^ I entered ten puns into a contest to see if any would win.
No pun in ten did.
There are vendors in Heart of the Mists area that sell white quality gear for every slot/weapon type.
I bought those and reskinned them with level 80 gear skins to my liking.
As for the transmutation charges… I don’t quite get what you mean.
If you have charges, you don’t have to pay to use them. You will gain more transmutation charges through the different PvP “paths” system that they’ve added to the game. There are also other methods for obtaining them, but it sounds like you probably wouldn’t be too up for them, as you prefer sPvP.
For your missing skins, I’m not sure how to correct that. I remember reading something related to missing skins, but I don’t remember where. :/
I’ve been having no problem with leveling.
Of course, I’m a Guardian at the moment so my survivability is pretty stellar.
I planned to do a Mesmer next up, so we’ll see how my experience changes then.
Don’t listen to the guy above me. Play it if you really want. Play hot-join until you get a hold of the class enough to try tPvP.
There are various builds you can use but the most popular for DPS are meditation builds. Here’s an example:
http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?fUAQRAsd7flYgSDHHyKEm4Eh1DCGQ/hVAjXPgYEbIA;TwAA2CnoqxUjoGbNuak1soYQxmgJBAYou could switch out Stand Your Ground for Contemplation of Purity if you want more condition removal. It kind of varies at this point.
As for bunkers, you won’t have as much tankiness as warriors or engineers but you provide good supporting boons and control. This is one of the standard bunker builds:
http://intothemists.com/guides/2221-kensudas_bunkersupport
You can switch out weapons and try different things but the traits, runes, and amulets are generally the same. But yea, google is your friend
.
At the time of posting, I was only able to locate pre-feature patch Guardian builds.
Wasn’t sure how drastically the feature patch changed said builds.
Thank you very much for your reply! I’m excited to give this DPS build a go when I get home tonight!
As for the naysayer, I never listen when someone tells me not to play what class I thoroughly enjoy playing. :P
I don’t see a problem with it.
Gives me a chance to unlock my 2 and 3 before I go into the beginning zones.
:P
Ok, so am wanting to create a new alt to try out the new trait system, megaserver, etc……wanting to experience leveling from 0-80 after the new patch.
I have several 80s, and several alts…..have been playing the game since 2 months after it was released…..am wanting to try something different/weird…..
My choices are either a warrior or a thief, neither of which I have played much at all.
I want something that will be helpful and somewhat desired in a group, and will be, eventually, good in either WvW and/or PvP, although most of my time leveling will be spent in PvE.
So am thinking maybe a sylvari warrior(nothing like a plant warrior to inspire fear….lol)
Or maybe a tiny asura thief.
I would like some suggestions for some odd/different character for either a thief or warrior. Feel free to suggest other races.
Please don’t post if you don’t have a valid suggestion…….am looking for suggestions from those of you who enjoy the game, and have good experience with these two professions.
Thanks!
Thief was my favorite class to play. I rerolled to play with RL friends ankitten ow rocking a Guardian.
With my newfound love of sPvP, and the fact that you can now level in sPvP, I am highly considering swapping back to a thief.
My thief is a Charr (best race, IMO, although I love my Sylvari guard).
I made mine with the skinniest build, and colored him as a tiger, complete with tiger stripes. :P
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/pvp/Appropriate-Pairing
In other words …..They change it so ppl cant complain about it anymore so they dont have to fix it.
Plus, so we cant see their (anet ppl) rank and see how low it is (how low their investment in it is), showing just how much they care about pvp.
Where’s your proof that Anet tags put little to no time or effort into the PvP?
Please and thanks.
How would a good employee do that without being told if the expectation was never established?
Your logic is flawed.“Do you guys mind not going home with 3 at the start of the game? We get outnumbered in the middle if you do that”
Silence + continues capping with 3
“Guys please help middle we are outnumbered here”
Ye ye quit your whining, you use your strategy and we use ours ok? Everyone has their own way to play the game. That doesnt mean that yours is the best
Moral of the story. Everyone including people during their first few games in spvp think they are experts. Its totally useless to try and mentor since not a single person listen even if you ask them really nice.
Try it out and youll see.
I dunno where I was whining. LOL
I would try giving people advice in sPvP, but if you read, you would know that I am new to sPvP and that would probably not be a good idea.
I mean, if you want, I’ll give it a shot. Hopefully nobody listens to me, because I would be giving them advice with no prior knowledge.
:P
The problem with telling people what to do is that you are telling them what to do.
There’s a saying I picked up as my last job as a QA.
“A manager tells people what to do. A leader tells them how to do it.”
Instead of saying, “do this.”
Try, “this is the goal, and this is how you obtain it.”and a good employee does it without being told.
We can go round and round

Yeah ok, you try to stay calm when losing a game because two people in your team insist on double stomping, double capping, double dying.
People get so upset when they lose, it’s hilarious.
You’re not going to win any more by getting upset. It gets very tedious when you start getting a losing streak because of it. I mean sure I can take a few losses now and then but if it’s every single time because people are clueless on rotations or not to double cap … Wouldn’t you start getting annoyed after a couple of games?
There is only so many times you can explain what to do
I probably wouldn’t get annoyed.
In fact, I have yet to see anyone try to explain how it works before blowing up.
Sure, it would get repetetive to keep explaining the same thing to new players every time. But how else would you expect them to learn better practices?
Like now I know, don’t double cap.
I still have yet to have anyone explain the rotations, and am still clueless to that.
Now imagine me going with a support build non berserk in one of your hardcore pve run/high lvl fractal. What will happen? … ya exactly. The same apply to tpvp.
I don’t do hardcore PvE runs nor high level fractals. Or dungeons of any kind.
Or champ trains, etc., etc.
:-)
I just rerolled on a new server. Have yet to hit max level, but I’ve been playing since launch.
I don’t get mad over trivial things like video games.
I get mad over politics, inhumane practices, suffering, starvation, and the mistreatment of the poor and underprivelaged.
You know, important things.
they still don’t realize that four capping one point doesn’t make it cap faster
Wow, I didn’t realize! Thanks for that tidbit of information!
Dear lord. I’m not surprised people are angry.
So maybe instead of being crybabies they should inform people of such things?
How do you just expect someone to know that?
You play most any other game with point caps, and the number of players will decrease the time it takes to cap. So it doesn’t seem like it would be an uncommon mistake for new players to make.

As an old player who is new to PvP (even with past MMO’s I was a carebear), I have noticed a lot of hostility from both new and old players.
I myself ignore old players spouting off their “learn2play, noob, idiot, blah” crap. I also ignore whatever hostile comments new players make as well.
I find it funny that some experienced players get mad and tell new players to l2p. Isn’t that the point of why the new players are playing sPvP? To l2p? :P

I’m fairly new to the Guardian class (level 21).
And extremely new to PvP. I had done maybe 12 matches (sPvP) prior to this as an Engineer shortly after launch.
I have a pretty vast amount of past MMO experience, but was never into PvP, so I have no past PvP experience to fall back on.
I have been loving playing sPvP and now fear (term used loosely :P) I may never reach 80, because all I want to do now is play sPvP.
That being said, as I am new to PvP in general, I’m not quite sure what build to run, and what weapon combos work best.
I would love to go pure offensive, but I’ve also heard something of a “bunker” Guardian, and was also somewhat interested in that.
So what do ya’ll recommend for traits, sigils, runes, and weapon combos?
And what skills would ya’ll recommend to have on my bars to be most efficient?
Thanks in advance, everyone!
woops wrong thread -_-
I would imagine that Anet is planning to work on the scaling. They probably needed to get the megaserver process started to see exactly how they should scale everything.
You don’t just bump up the difficulty without having any test data first. Otherwise, you may overdo it, and then you’ll have people complain about the game being too hard.
You may want to go pick up a Chinese version of GW2 when available.
Given their government, I would imagine you could get in some deep kitten if you were not playing by their rules.
Afterall, none of these ingredients grow in the wild
Wait, what?
You really think that these things don’t grow in the wild?
I love when people complain about businesses fishing for money.
How do you run a business? By making money.
How does a business fail? By not making money.
So, it makes sense, that a business would be looking to increase the money they make at any given opportunity.
GW2 is not pay to win, yet everyone complains about the gem shop like it IS pay to win.
Good laughs.
Zerker is not any less viable now than it was before.
So I don’t see your point.
Don’t go for toughness, maybe?
Viral, now there’ll always be at least a dozen other players trying to beat you to that mob. gl, hf
I don’t go looking for them. I couldn’t tell you where most champions spawn.
I go for them as they spawn, if I’m near enough to see their event indicator pop on my UI, or if someone calls out and links a WP in /map.
So if I get it, cool! If not, then not a big deal.
Thanks for the well wishing regarding my luck with champ spawns, and I most definitely WILL have fun.
Edit: I will also be playing WildStar. I played the beta and thoroughly enjoyed what I was able to play.
I will not quit GW2 for WildStar, because GW2 has no impact on my wallet.
Same reason I don’t quit playing any F2P game for any P2P game.
(edited by viralthefrog.6130)
Same as I have been playing.
I’m very limited on when I can play, so I take my opportunity to play anytime I can.
I love the new features they added, and I find people crying about champ train nerfs to be hilarious.
Yeah, I participated in killing some champs “out of turn” in Queensdale, and got blown up every time. I never even knew what a “champ train” was until this happened, and it did nothing for me but make me hate the champ train.
Completely childish and immature.
And now with all the champ trainers rage quitting, I can enjoy killing whatever mobs I want, whenever I want, without being blown up by mindless dolts.
I don’t feel like leveling is a grind.
I never look at my XP bar and generally don’t know my level until I log in the next day.
I often forget to spend skill points for days at a time.
I don’t get why people make work from a game. Isn’t the point of playing a game to relax and enjoy yourself?
I enjoy having levels, and even when I get to cap, I will still enjoy the game. I play for fun gameplay, not to add work-induced stress to my life. Why do you enjoy levels? You yourself just said you never look at them, you dont even know when you do or what level you are. You dont even spend the points when you get them.
So the only reason i can see is that you like seeing a number that goes up giving you a sense of progression, because your own statements seem ti imply that leveling affects nothing in your game play at all. Which in itself i would think would be an arguement for removing levels.
But mostly that is why leveling is there. Because people like to feel like they are going somewhere. Even when they aren’t.
If there were no levels, I would not be inclined to go out and actually explore the zones.
I would probably end up sitting in one part of the game (WvW or sPvP) and not get the full experience.
Although I don’t care what level I am, or about SP or experience in general, it does motivate me on a subconscious level to do more exploration.
I don’t feel like leveling is a grind.

If they participated in WvW on the old server, they will have to wait 2 weeks before being able to WvW on their new server. (Don’t remember the source for this, sorry!)
I just rerolled a little over a week ago and am unable to play WvW. Really disappointing.
I just started playing PvP for the first time really last night as a Guardian.
I had a blast!
Although new to the PvP scene, I was able to stand my ground and defend points like a boss.
I was also easily able to assist my teams in changing the tides of battle while capping point. Although I lost 3 of the 6 games I played, I would definitely say I will continue to play and love my Guardian in PvP.
Last night I had 6 out of 10 options that were all PvE.
I only had 4 out of 10 that were WvW or PvP.
So, if anything, they should add another 2 for WvW/PvP to make the daily total 12.
That way, nobody is forced to go out of whatever they prefer.
But really, if you absolutely prefer WvW or PvP, it would probably take you a very minute amount of time away from what you like to do to get that last one.
(edited by viralthefrog.6130)
Okay, now I’m seeing the side of your arguments more clearly. It makes perfect sense to me.
I have a different playstyle myself. I’m the kind of person who never looks at my XP bar, and only ever notice what level I am when I log in the next day.
In fact, I used to forget to apply traits, and would usually have 3-5 points available to use when I finally realized it.
:P
So a difference of playstyles, completely understandable.
I prefer to take it easy and enjoy the scenery, kill everything I see, and harvest everything I find. I find that if I worry about xp/level/traits, I get burnt out easily.
I just rerolled and have a level 18 guardian.
I have noticed absolutely no difference in gameplay after that patch.
I don’t down/die more frequently.
I don’t take any longer to kill mobs.
I still take on giant groups of mobs at a time just fine.
I don’t suffer in any way.
It may seem bad at first, but there really isn’t a drawback that I’ve found.
1 point now is the equivelant of 5 in the past.
Just enjoy the scenery, check out the maps for exploration XP, and have fun!
As for it being slower to level: Not true. I have noticed absolutely 0% change in the time it takes me to level. I’m still sitting at my average of 1.5 hours per level. Sometimes faster, sometimes slower. Depends on what I’m doing at the time.
I know a lot of people are upset with some of the changes, but try and understand the reasons from the developer point of view and allow for some things to be readjusted as necessary.
some of the changes that people aren’t liking will possibly be further tweaked with hotfixes, just give it time.
The best you all can do is provide calm and detailed feedback like some have already been doing. It is possible that they had overlooked some things and all of you will do a better job at finding the issues than a small team would be able to.
Feedback:
Anet nerfed my characters into the dirt today by taking away almost all Traits my characters had earned. I am not a good enough Player to reach level 80. That’s right, I am not good enough at this game… but I love parts of GW2 enough that I had kept the game installed so I could return one day.
Well today I log in and my highest character, lvl 51 ELE has four traits out of the over 15 he used to have. FOUR. I was having a hard enough time as it is.Anet doesn’t want People like me playing their MMO. Anet must want the Players that can breeze through leveling content to 80, which I admit I have had a hard time doing. Without those traits, and the benefits I each of my characters got from them, the game is now beyond my abilities.
These changes were great for the gazillion lvl 80s, but not good for Players that have a hard time with this game. Anet decided whom their preferred customers are and I am not on the list.
I am not rage quitting, I just realize I don’t belong here and there is no sense in holding out hope I might play GW2 again.
Feedback Given. Resigned from Guild. All Characters deleted. Game Uninstalled
You must not have actually applied those trait points.
1 point now = 5 points in the past.
I have noticed that:
I do not have a harder time killing mobs.
I do not go down or die anymore than previously.
I do not suffer in any way.
I do not have traits at the moment… and that’s fine because of every other reason I just listed.
Maybe instead of rage quitting, you should have actually tried using your 4 trait points.
Megaservers have been added to the Heart of the Mist and nothing else so far.
Wrong. Nice try, though.
TL;DR
“I didn’t read patch notes. QQ”
Wouldn’t want any nasty remnants of roleplaying in our game, wouldn’t we? Now that we finally found a way to kill off RP in this game by removing their favorite toy, the townclothing system.
Probably a bug on both things.
So yeah, no.
A slightly more difficult open world content? Outrageous. ;D
OMG it might be a good idea to actually wear…toughness gear…or…Vitality…. The Six Forbid.
Or you know, not be forced to wear gear that doesn’t fit how you’re building yourself? Hmmmm… I wondeeerrr.. I thought ANET said “Play the game how you want”. Not “Play the game how WE want or anyone ELSE wants”.
You’re really going to complain about adding 1 or 2 pieces of gear to help yourself survive?
They also said the enemies would be EASIER to deal with.. as in, not take as long to kill… stated on the forums by a Dev… I love how you’re basically telling me I should give up how I wish to play my character, and ignoring the fact that we were told one thing, and now, they just stopped caring or telling the truth.
That’s a pretty overly dramatic way to twist what I just said.
Maybe it’s a bug?
Seriously, it’s a new patch on day 1.
Quit complaining about insignifcant crap. They have a thread you can post feedback and suggestions in. I suggest actually making it constructive, instead of just a rant.
Instead of having a fit, maybe try posting there for some help?
Just my two cents.
Can’t tell if sarcasm or desperate singles looking for love.
