Guild Leader of Chariot of Fire [FIRE] – http://christianfire.enjin.com
Proud Community Member of Northern Shiverpeaks – http://northernshiverpeaks.org
Bumping up for all the right reasons. We are looking to grow a fellowship of well-rounded players. Those that are new to and wish to learn WvW but feel insecure with a competative environment are welcome! Faith-based, family-friendly, community-driven!
Very glad to see another Christian community out there. You guys have my support!
http://christianfire.enjin.com
Chariot of Fire [FIRE] is a Christ-centered, family-friendly PvX fellowship that is located on the Northern Shiverpeaks server in Guild Wars 2. Originally created in 2007 in the first Guild Wars, the [FIRE] guild has a rich history within the Guild Wars community. Our members share a common goal: to enjoy the game in a God-honoring, family-friendly gaming environment. Our guild is based upon four major tenants that define us:
- GUILD FOCUS -
Christ-Centered
The very essence of our guild is a relationship with Jesus Christ. It is our goal to be a Christ-Centered community and we desire to honor God in all that we do. It is our belief that our faith is primary and our gaming is secondary, and we have a strong hope that others we interact with see Christ shining through us.
Family-Friendly
Our goal is for every member to play in a comfortable environment where they are in control of the conduct they absorb. By maintaining a family-friendly environment, our gaming fellowship is safe for gamers of all ages. We have established a Biblically-based Standards of Conduct that aids in maintaining our family-friendly environment.
Fellowship-Oriented
Fellowship is what drives us to play with each other. We are more than an in-game character, but a real person that lives on past the log-in screen. We encourage fully immersing into the social experience that comes with our fellowship, which includes in-game collaboration, website communication, and Teamspeak communication.
Community-Minded
Jesus met with people where they were at, and He built relationships with those people, regardless of stature. We are not an exclusive guild that wishes to hide away. We wish to build relationships with those in the community around us, and use our Godly example of Christ to positively influence them for Jesus. We regularly interact with others in our server community, and we hope to continue to be highly regarded as a friendly and helpful community.
- GUILD ACTIVITIES -
[FIRE] members engage in group activities in all areas of Guild Wars 2. Our guild has a active footprint in WvW and are steadily working to improve our effectiveness on the battlefield. In addition to WvW, we have a healthy level of casual weekly PvE activities that we engage in. Our desire is to have a healthy balance between WvW raiding and PvE activities. We will accept new members from ANY server, but those that wish to participate in our growing WvW sector will need to be on Northern Shiverpeaks or be willing to transfer to NSP from their current server.

Reading this thread and seeing the responses from these casual SoR players that are now stepping up to the plate on SoR for WvW is seriously frustrating. Most of these people have zero clue about the hard efforts that many went through to revitalize WvW after Java chips left until October. KOGS, RA, FIRE, IQ, EG, MEGA, RISE, and more. All guilds that were born and bred on SoR, some of us, like FIRE, from day 1. These guilds pushed to the limits to build up the SoR community and improve our WvW capabilities, many if us doing so as PvX guilds that just cared just a little too much. But, all these harsh words from those that did not see the strong, positive efforts of those that strove hard to improve SoR and keep our remnants together as we fell and stabilized. Few of these saw the relentless efforts to recruit other guilds.
Sure, we all ended up leaving…for different reasons. But that does not diminish the fact that SoR had a core of guilds that were actively doing exactly the things suggested in this thread… For about a 7 month tenure. So, to see the goodbye, good riddance bugs me. I know of a lot of good people that invested in SoR, that started on SoR from day one, that were finally driven off the server by the if-you-like-organized-wvw-then-you-are-too-elite-for-us group. Maybe this group of people needs to rewind a few months. Not everyone that left SoR had anything to do with T1 elite WvW isolationism. Many of us left because we wanted a strong community that had some semblance of organization, communication, and unity within WvW, and SoR was building that, but eventually just fizzled. Give some consideration to the middle group. Not the elite, not the casual, but the workhorses that cared too much…to a fault.

Been doing a bunch of training, as well as leveling alts within the guild. Restructuring and revamping our team after our move to NSP has been allowing us to finesse some of our overarching strategy in our raids. We are one of the few if not the only Christian guilds that do coordinated WvW on a regular basis. However, we still get our PvE fixes in as well. Contact us with any questions or concerns!
NSP has plenty of space for a SEA guild as this is our weakest time zone on the server. Being a server that has just risen into T3, it can be assured that there is plenty of room for fights without an oversaturation of other friendly SEA guilds on the server. I am not necessarily a server “leader”, but if interested, PM me on here, and I will forward you to those that handle much of the server coordination on NSP!
Still looking to bolster our numbers with some strong, community-minded Christians! Experience level doesn’t matter. We do organized WvW and PvE, and we will teach and train those that are inexperienced!
Haha, good stuff, Karaoke. I feel touched; someone wrote us a poem. See, you MUST come to NSP now. Breaking up is hard to do!
I think the intent was to not allow WvW access til level 18, but failed to realize the portal travel allowed the access still. I think this classifies as a “bug”.
Two strong raids against CD and DR! Still could use some skilled players or players willing to learn. We will train!
Also, we are not WvW exclusive, just WvW-centric. Meaning, we still do PvE in our off times and during specific prime time days. PvE players are welcome as well!
I think many people are still missing this key point:
ANY LEVEL CAN DO WVW; YOU ACCESS THE BATTLEGROUNDS THROUGH A PORTAL IN LA.
When you talk about elitists, are you talking about the organized guilds that brought the server all the way up to T1 (moving up the ladder at the same time as BG) or the ones I never heard of that poped up after SoR’s fall from T1? (after every single WvWer jumped ship for very valid internal issues. (which is well represented by your observation of SoR becoming a PvE exclusive server)
The latter – they’re the ones that represented SoR while I was dealing with them. And they were all “Proud to have been on SoR from the very start…” et cetera.
Thanks for the honest answers to you and Sirbeaumerdier. If I can sum up what happened to SoR for the downfall, it was PvE guilds hostility towards the main WvW guilds though with a heavy reliance on us keeping SoR as a performing server. Without getting much more into the details, there is a reason the server is now 99.9% PvE
Agreed. Rimmy doesn’t know jack squat about what has happened on SoR. He is on the outside looking in, and it is a distorted glass window he is peering through.
Fact of the matter is, after the T1 bandwagon moved on, a bunch of us got together to build the community back up. We had a bunch of success. But, towards the end of the summer, we started having internal struggles. One guild had a major split and 100 WvW players moved off the server. Then other guilds that had animosity toward each other started spilling that animosity out publicly and it became very volatile. Then…competition hit, and the SoR community found that with the season, we did not have the resilience that we thought we had. Fingers started pointing at each other for the reason why we lost the first week, a lot of yelling, complaining, etc. Guilds stopped showing up on the battlefield. Fairweathers stopped showing up because we weren’t winning any more. In the end, after the tournament, some major guilds threw in the towel and moved on to other servers. Random players started bleeding to every server BUT SoR. Some smaller guilds trudged on, hoping this would just pass, but after 2-3 weeks of torture on the battlefield of being the only forces, our guilds started bleeding players that were unhappy.
At the end of the day, guilds will play for their guild over their server. And if their guild is losing members or their guild is unanimously unhappy, then change must happen. The remaining (small) guilds that were left on the battlefield decided to move on.
Thing is, even if a guild is a PvX guild but has a large contingent of WvW players that comprises more than half of the guild’s activity, those people are not going to want to stay in a barren wasteland of a battlefield. If a guild is primarily PvE with a very casual mentality to WvW, then there is no reason to go anywhere.
At the very, very end, the PvE-centric guilds, which were now the majority, started severely talking down on those that still enjoyed somewhat competative WvW on the server. These were some of the same people that gave many long hours for a long period of time to try and rebuild the SoR community after the T1 bandwagon off the server. This is why they were still here and didn’t transfer off yet. These few remaining WvW-centric players were backed into a corner and chastised for enjoying WvW and being upset that SoR fell apart in WvW. The PvE players all rose up out of no where; players that have never been active in the community before, all now had something to say when they were the majority, and it became apparent that all SoR wanted to do now was do PvE. In their server meeting and in the forums, their answer to revitalizing WvW on the server was to do community dungeons, community dragon hunts, and EOTM. Naturally, those that enjoy WvW are going to be unhappy and move on. So, those remaining few have….or will be.

@Shadowfurr: We’re in your tier, because we’re still clawing up from T8 and 24th place. We’re trying and it sucks for you guys who are in this matchup facing a server that has a higher population and better coverage than you do. We don’t like it any more than you do, because we’ve been there for a very long time. We know how it feels. Oh, and we are not a band-wagon server.
ET has primarily been populated in the past by the same never-say-die defenders that we always have. We’re a tenacious lot that just never gave up despite all the MONTHS of being the lowest-ranked server. Many people have come and gone from ET. We had guilds who transferred in, poached our players, then left back to the tiers they came from. We’ve had guilds that transferred in, couldn’t face the adversity, so they left for greener pastures. We’ve also had guilds who formed, wanted a different gaming experience, and left to find it elsewhere.
Through all that, a core group of us stuck it out. We weathered the storm. We built a foundation that (I hope) is friendly to new people coming to join us. We built and fine-tuned a server-wide TeamSpeak, website, and public community-guild. We’ve invested “blood, sweat, and tears” into this Community.
Now we are on a bit of a winning streak. That foundation that a lot of us built is helping to draw in new players and new guilds, and yes the occasional fairweather. Our population is growing and it has directly resulted in winning matchups. My hope is that we’ll continue to be a positive place and we’ll continue to have a great community as we grow. As long as we can keep doing the things that have always made us great, I feel like the word will spread and new people will show up to become part of our family. Word of mouth is a powerful thing. We’ve already seen people join ET and then “advertise” to bring in other new people form other servers. Evidently, they liked what they saw and thought others could enjoy ET as well.
Make no mistake though, we’re in an uphill battle. We’ve faced lots of adversity and that same core of us isn’t scared of facing more of it. We’ll be here if we’re at the top. We’ll be here if we’re at the bottom. We’re the epitome of that frog that’s grasping the crane by the neck, never letting go, even while being devoured.
Some folks can’t take the heat. Some folks lose for a few weeks, a month, maybe two. They flee because it’s no longer easy.
That’s not us. We’ve fought tooth and nail and we’ll always keep fighting.
Finally, a HUGE thanks to those veteran ET’ers. The ones that stuck through the thick and the thin and never quit. Another HUGE thanks to those who have recently joined us, the folks we now call brother and sister, and fight alongside every day. I hope that we can continue to grow as a community, be unified, and fight well together.
This is a good post. Props to you guys at ET. I wish you all the best on your journey up. Good luck in your T5 matchup!
SoR was going downhill well before FIRE left. We just stuck it out longer because we were very invested into the community. It was hard for us to leave, but our guild was being hurt staying there. It is unfortunate, because we still had a few friends there. But alas, most of our friends were already long gone, to many other servers… SoR was bleeding players for weeks prior to us leaving.
So, a tough decision was made. More transfers. If a guild enjoys WvW as a group, a barren wasteland of a battlefield isn’t going to be a place they would enjoy it. If a guild enjoys an interactive and team-based community, and they don’t have that, then they will go where they will find it.
This is funny coming from the guy who gave my guild kitten for leaving SoR back then for the exact same reason he is transferring off right now. The irony.
Lack of activity from others on the server? Being the only force on the map? Barren wasteland of WvW maps? You left for those three reasons?
Bumping up for good measure. Been having some great fights with IoJ lately!
20 players is not a zerg. It does not even cause orange swords. I wouldn’t consider anything smaller than 35-40 to be a zerg. Really, a zerg in top tiers is 60+.
Well, T3 minus DB. DB should probably be in T2 and swap with FA. Just my 2 cents anyway.
ET is far from a good server. They just happen to be the better where they are at. Granted, they have gained a lot of fairweather activity (and maybe some resurgence of WvW in PvX guilds) since the tournament, which is outstanding for them. But, they won’t get too far.
SoR just had their 2nd implosion this year. Back in January and trickling into a couple months after, every WvW guild on SoR transferred off, mostly to bandwagon TC, two to SoS, one to FA, one to JQ, one to CD/SBI, etc. This left SoR with ZERO WvW community. Since then, we worked hard to establish a community for WvW on the server. A couple of in-house WvW guilds were made, a couple small transfers came in, and a LOT of PvX growth from within to the battlefield. We did a lot of training with some of our former T1 players that knew a lot about WvW and stuck it out. That helped a lot.
A month ago, SoR imploded again. The season destroyed morale, built up agression between guilds started coming out, finger pointing and blaming happened, and finally, guilds started leaving. After 2 guilds left, we started bleeding key players left and right. SoR did not have a large variety of people that did WvW; we had a lot of the same people that did a lot of the activity. Once players/commanders started bleeding out, other guilds realized the true state of SoR. A few of us stuck it out further for a couple weeks, but it didn’t take long to see that we were literally the only ones out here (FIRE/VEX) except for GSCH (who would never leave SoR due to the server being named after one of their own).
So, a tough decision was made. More transfers. If a guild enjoys WvW as a group, a barren wasteland of a battlefield isn’t going to be a place they would enjoy it. If a guild enjoys an interactive and team-based community, and they don’t have that, then they will go where they will find it.
And before anyone says “well..why don’t you just start one then?” If anyone knows who I am, then they will know that I spent 9 months already doing that. It failed.
R.I.P. SoR. I miss what we were. I hate what you became.
NOTE: I really do wish ET the best. If they rise up, then props to them. It would be great to see them overcome the slump they were in. But when we were fighting them, they had one “zerg-busting guild” that was mediocre at best, and they ran map pug blobs that were easily defeated with half the size of them. Problem is, we stopped even being able to get enough people to be even have half their size on SoR anymore….

Good raid last night. Had an awesome time going face to face with DUI from GoM and MEAN from DH all night! FIRE did an awesome job!
I may not be in DH, but as a member of FIRE on SoR, I have had my share of fights against MEAN. They have proven to be quite the resilient group. They can bring a good fight! If you are on DH, I would strongly consider checking them out! I would consider them to be top-tier for WvW-focused guilds on DH!
We have one NA Prime EBG Guild from a higher ranking server looking at SoR now. The tide can flip either way for this guild. SoR has a lot of room for growth and a lot of room for new guilds to make an impact, both in our community, and on the battlefield. Message me to see if your guild can be an essential part of the SoR community!
Still growing! 68 members, and two pending applications! And, our members are QUALITY members! We have a selective recruitment process that has afforded a 0.01% turnover rate for FIRE. When members join, they stay here! This is what we love…dedication to the guild and to each other. Our members are COMMUNITY BUILDERS!
FIRE had an awesome time coordinating with VEX last night in EBG. VEX is definitely a small powerhouse. I can only imagine how damaging they would be if they brought larger numbers. I would definitely recommend VEX to ANY serious WvW player to consider if they want a guild looking to bolster their fights capability with dedication and persistance.
And we are back to GoM vs DH vs SoR. I think we have a fairly balanced matchup, and it can still flip either way here. I love these matchups!
RA has really been stepping up to the plate. They have proven to be a great offensive force in enemy BL’s while operating as a Home BL Response force to help defend on an as-needed basis. Their members have proven to be adaptable when the strategy calls for it. Love working with RA on the battlefield! Some epic SMC caps with them!
Won yet another Commander of the week. New siege in my inbox! Love the community on SoR, and love how we are willing to reward those that participate in our WvW community.
Another solid start to the week, and once again, FIRE had a great time working with VEX! Great to see guilds work together for a common goal!
Bumping to bring exposure to a great server with a lot of potential! Help us build a stronger community!
Nice to see you out as often as we do, WF! Did you guys bolster your numbers? Seems like there are more of you now!
And a solid start to the week! Still too close to call it!
Star, already talked to you! Glad to have you as a new member of our guild now. Sors, I have not gotten the opportunity to speak with you yet. Contact me in-game at xivor.8754, or you can PM me on here!
67 members and growing! Fielding 15-20 per raid now from FIRE. We are truly making an imprint on SoR! If you are looking for a Christian guild or a Christ-centered, family-friendly guild, check us out!
http://christianfire.enjin.com.
We may have what you are looking for!
67 members now, and fielding 15-20 members per WvW raid right now! Having a blast, and definitely making an imprint in the server! Once the tournament ends, we will balance out with other PvE activities once again. Looking for all types of Christian players or those desiring a Christ-centered, family-friendly guild!
I rather like this pack. The metabolic and utility boosters are real helpful with those expensive foods (Pots of Lemongrass Poultry, anyone?). I may not like everything in it, but its a good start, honestly.
SoR is still in search of some dedicated WvW guilds or some PvX guilds with a strong WvW footprint. We want guilds that want to grow a community, not guilds that are self-righteous elitists. Specifically, we have a need for guilds to be a primary defense force in the SEA time period and a primary attack force in EBG for NA prime. Message me if you feel your guild may have what we are searching for!
Remember, community above all!
