I think tornado needs to be a skill where you cant be damaged. Conditions can still be applied. It is useless in the state its in currently. I use GOE as well and use it when I need the distraction.
Just kite and dodge. I wiped out groups of the gravelings just by kiting and mashing the 1 key. Its that easy.
I use the rifle when players try to run or kite. Using GS or duel axes for melee. I don’t even use the trait list for bow and not interested in shout healing vs DPS. I just found the bow to be slow and unreliable. However I was using it when not traited for it. So 900 range isn’t all that great.

I do 28-38-40. The problem with 48 is time and group. Im the only person in my clan who is 20+ fractals. So I must group with pugs and I have seen so many fails at 44+ that it isn’t worth the trouble.
I just want one fractal skin. At this point I don’t care what it is.
I don’t agree that longbow is better. When traited, rifle shots can pierce through a group and crit everything. With the shorter cooldown I never have a problem. Switching from Axe/axe or GS when in range. I just find that the bow seems slow and with all the condition removal out there in wvw it doesn’t matter that you burn. Typically you start against a zerg and find yourself up against a 1v1 fairly quickly. I prefer the direct shot over the slower bow shot.
You guys do realize that the skins are just cosmetic and don’t do anything to affect gameplay, right? That’s why they’re such rare drops. If everyone had easy access to them, they wouldn’t be special.
So why make them difficult to get? or for that matter, totally random.
At final boss on path 3, near the back I ran up the stairs and found a secret entrance behind some vines. Im sure its common knowledge but I was wondering if it is incomplete. I can’t seem to figure out where to go and I went onto all possible plateaus searching.
Played all paths last night. The burrows are not difficult if 4 members target together while the 5th member kites baddies off of the npc. As for the ghosts, provided you target them in order, that being necro, mage, w/e, you won’t have a problem. I was the only heavy and 3 of the players were below 80. Our biggest challenge was getting the final boss in the right place before he drops the ceiling on you.
As a warrior I find most bosses in fractals target me. I have come to accept it because it means the rest of my team will survive.Not saying I don’t get downed. As I climb the levels Im getting really good at kiting. On those times where Im not the target I end up spending a lot of time rezing instead of fighting. If anything, being the target is a big responsibility. Most players give props when you can kite mossman and not get downed.
I have 12 fractal skins, 5 of which are axes. And none of which I use.
I’d even welcome a new mystic forge recipe, 4 fractal weps = random fractal wep.
That would be a bad recipe. Dropping 4 skins which took some time to get. Just for a random skin? What if you get one of the skins you just dropped into the forge? Now your out 3 skins. We can mull around with ideas but in the end Anet needs to figure this out or at least respond. TBH, at this point I don’t see them making any changes to fractals until the adventure box is done.

I quickly scanned the first page to see if anyone has posted on this yet. The Alyssa event is stuck on repairing the cannon. The NPC is not fixing it. I have only done this event a few times but Im sure that is how it works. I believe the area is in SoD.
I also have this problem. I think its related to the Fun box area. My zoom works before I enter and at some point stops working while in there. Once outside the Fun box the zoom still does not work. I have to log out and back in for it to fix.
I did a bunch of runs over the past few days…… Still no skin drops. I haven’t even seen a ring in two weeks. Lots of relics however.
See I agree with working towards getting the skins but after 400+ runs, 300 after lvl 26. I haven’t received a skin. Why should my grind be different then others? I put in a lot of time and have not received what others get doing half the work.
I see your point Dusk. MHO, I don’t care what others think of me. I’m not playing this game for respect. I play it because its fun. I just don’t want to have to grind fractals constantly. It’s very time consuming. I guess it boils down to personal preference.

Having a SAB skin puts money in your pocket. While FotM skins are pure luck. I don’t see how you can hold them to such a prestige. I could have twice the skins as you and do half the runs. Does that make me better then you? Good thing this is just your opinion. I can sell my 2 GS skins from SAB for 30G each. What can you sell the FotM skins for?….

Already scored 2 skins from the fun box but still nothing from fractals. I can see from other posts, those that get them are fine with the drop rate. I don’t get them so Im not fine with the drop rate. I do enjoy fractals so I continue to do them with hopes that one will drop. As you will notice with the fun box forums, very little complaining. There is a reason for that…..
I also do daily runs and after 400 I still do not have a skin.
Skins should not be random drops in daily chests. It causes a negative reaction when players who score one on the first try vs those who grind for them. Even precursors can be purchased, so why hold these skins on a higher plateau? They have no value and only dress up your weapon? I think its because Anet wants players to put an effort into the fractals. They push you to go to the higher lvls for a better chance for a drop and make it so you can’t run the areas like you can in dungeons.

Anet should set it up so a player must complete fractals up to the cap with the same chance to get a skin as now. Then add an achievement for reaching the cap which allows you to then purchase the skin you want with a certain amount of relics. This way Anet gets the full use out of the fractals from each person who really wants to push for the skins they want and grinding for extra relics after the fact is then a moot point since the player has already reached the achievement lvl. Just a thought.

Since I switched from staff to D/D my character has been unstoppable. Thanks for sharing your build and style of game play. It has come in handy.

What is stupid about the skins is that someone who has already done 400 fractals on the “fractal frequenter” achievement still has not received a skin but some noob on his first lvl 26 run gets one. Fair?……I THINK NOT!

I have posted about this several times already but after doing another 3 days of fractals and coming up short on drops I’m very frustrated. Up to 62 relics and not a skin to show for it.
3 guardians a thief and a warrior walk into the dredge fractal. They make it to the final boss and decide they no longer know how to play. Warrior spends his time either rezing or running from boss to reset. The thief then has the nerve to say that the warrior doesn’t do enough damage and thats why they cannot complete the fractal…..RAGE QUIT! Im sorry but if you are playing a guardian and you cant survive longer then a warrior, L2P plz.
This game requires you to move. Don’t be planted in one spot while in melee range. Even with a ranged weapon you should still move to kite the enemies. Try not to agro too many enemies at once. Learn to dodge and keep the fight within a small space this way you won’t agro others while fighting. Get an understanding of your abilities. Signets at lower lvls are great for those just starting. They give passive abilities when not used which benefits new players who may not always use skills when they should be used. Upgrade weapons and armor often either through crafting, purchasing or finding. Don’t be afraid to ask for help from players in area by using the chat box under “say” or “map”. Players will come to your aid and more so if an event just popped. To add to all of this, the best way to play this game is with other players. Find a guild who is looking for new members. Get a headset with a mic and join them in the 3rd party program they use to chat, TS or Vent…. That way your questions are answered quickly and the enjoyment of this game is much better.
Some of the stuff I read its like players think we all use the same brain.
Unfortunately there isn’t just one build. You have to either sacrifice DPS or toughness/survivability. Personally, I went from a condition build to DPS and provided you equip the right armor and weapons you can somewhat balance out your lack of toughness. A lot of times players will re-trait before entering a dungeon or fractals simply from experience. All that being said, I suggest you go with a toughness/survivability build until you get comfortable with the dungeons and fractals. Then go for DPS.
I go with the rifle because I’m traited for it. With piercing shots you can hit multiple worms with one shot and its usually for big damage. At max range you can run and gun once the shield drops. I strafe back and forth to avoid arrow from the boss. When mates get downed I switch to duel axe and take out as many worms as possible so they can rally.
The best strat for dealing with the harpies is obviously reflect abilities. As a warrior, I find that I can simply strafe on a platform back and forth. For some reason the harpies cannot lock onto you and they miss with 80% of the shots. This includes the knockback. The closer you get the less you can avoid. Try and stay max range. I hardly get knocked down.
Easiest fractal to do but that can only be said after multiple failures.
To me it seems that fractals are incomplete. I think the maps are fine but the problems with skins, pristine relics and rings in general need to be addressed.
If your still wanting to do bleed just find a sigil that gives a chance to bleed on crit. Then it doesn’t matter what skill you use.
Doing dungeons for the sake of doing dungeons? My response is an add on to the question that was already answered by Laharl. It gives direction or purpose. You will also find that almost every dungeon requires a trait tweak. Having just one build is not effective. Sorry I couldn’t be any help.
Unless your seeking the dungeon master title or farming for cash/loot, your best bet is to visit the merchants in Lions Arch that sell armor and weapons from dungeons. You can use the tokens you receive from doing dungeon paths to purchase items. This at least will give you something to look forward to. I have several sets of armor for my warrior and the rune sets can be changes to whatever you traited for.
Daily chests drop on even numbers only. You can only get 1 daily chest per every ten lvls per character.
This is a horrible rant. Its a game, your group needs to relax. Must be like walking on egg shells in your TS or vent. Nobody should justify the play style they choose to anyone. OHH NOO! It took 5 minutes longer to kill this boss because that warrior was using a rifle. So he avoided getting downed for your benefit. Your the type of person I block. When playing any game it won’t be fun if others cannot adjust to different play styles.
If there was another way of getting skins nobody would bother with the higher lvl of fractals. IMO the only reason to go into the 30-40 range is so that you have more opportunity to get daily chests i.e. 26-30-40. I currently sit at lvl 32 with 46 pristine relics and no skins to show for it.
Knockback is useful when teammates are trying to rez and you want to keep the mob off them or on grawl when they are trying to reach the cliff to throw humans over the edge for a sacrifice on the shaman map for fractals. Using immobilize in that instance makes the grawl run instead of walk. In general, knockbacks with a group is bad. everyone is lining up the targets and your knocking all over the map!
I do believe rifle attack 1 is quicker then long bow attack 1. At least it seems that way when using them.
The stats matter that are on your offhand weapon and some sigils on the offhand weapon still run even if your only hitting with main hand.
At lvl 80 there are better options then signets. The shouts and stances are better you just have to figure out which ones suit your play style best. Healing surge for instance grants alot more healing then the signet. FGJ and OMM shouts are fantastic insti-casts to buff you. I still use sig of rage for more crit chance and might but it is easily swapped out for the banner when its needed. Ifyour rolling the 40+ for each unused sig you can still get good return running only 2-3 sigs.
ppl shouldn’t even enter fractals with pugs if they don’t plan on being online for longer then 1 hour. It’s no guarantee that the pugs will know what to do or if they will rage quit like the OP does. I understand, you can do what you want and your easily replaced, however, opting out of doing dredge is like throwing away gold. I always get something valuable from this fractal. Having to kill more adds …….plz, bring it on!
