You know, we’d love to join your NAs for some good fights. I’m sure there’s lots we can learn. Frankly, we did our best to get as many on at reset as we possibly can, but you know how enthusiastic everyone is on reset. I myself queued for total of 4 hours, mostly because I DCed a couple of times after getting in, and unfortunately, by then it was probably past NA prime. Keeping fingers crossed for next week though, so bring it on!

Still, Slasher, I wouldn’t say we had twice your numbers. Meow had 15 and WM brought 8-10 to KBL, thats 23-25 total. Doing the maths, you’re saying you only had 12? Not calling you a liar, I blame culling, since now not only do you not see half the enemy, you also don’t see half your friendlies. Where did the commander go? Oh, culled. I think numbers were evenly matched last night, and we had a swell time trying out different tactics.

They are doing well and certainly have proven at the very least they are suited for T2. The rest of the week will tell if they are T1! All the other stuff you’re talking about isn’t really wvw, its forum trash.

You tell them! Great match up here, hope this goes on though-out the week. Lots of action, zerg on zerg, solo, ninja parties, really, no regrets coming to T2. Also its great how despite how intense the action is, people are still very much decent. I got killed in a water fight against some BGs, it was a pretty tough fight, still they bowed afterwards. Imagine that, I fully expected my corpse to be danced on after giving them a hard time. Thanks for the great fights and the civility guys. What would it take to get permanent residence here?

Hi guys as the title states, I’d like to suggest making available a commander icon that is only visible to members of the same guild. This icon should also be of a different color from the regular blue commander icon, preferably the same gold/yellow as used for guild chat.
The argument for this is that there are some guilds/teams that would be tasked with roles suitable for well-knitted teams, where the addition of players briefed on the task at hand would not only not contribute but at times detract from the intended objectives. Examples of said roles would be ninja/guerrilla squads where map stealth is important and where stragglers could give away positions.
Such an icon would also be useful in dividing manpower where 2/3 different guilds cover different areas of the map in conjunction with a regular commander commanding the regular zerg. There have been frequent times when a commander, already running with his guild, is unnecessarily joined by a multitude of other players. At the same time however, another commander, who is much in need of manpower, is often times neglected.
There are of course various other details to work out, but this is the idea in brief. Any thoughts?

Firstly, in the first sentence it would be best to use a comma after ‘No’, otherwise it would come to be ‘No trying’, in which case you are stating that you are not trying to figure out what he just said. In the second sentence, we see what is seemingly a typo, as it should properly say ‘an English’ and not ‘a English’. Next we see that it would be best to put a period (alias a fullstop), but a comma can suffice as well. Alternatively, you can choose to put ‘and’ instead, making it ‘… website and if …’ The second part of that sentence we see some more common mistakes once again involving a comma – ‘… trying to say, am I …’ Also we see confusion in using tenses, where present tense suppose should properly be supposed. Moving on to the next sentence, we see And is out of place at the start of the sentence, removing it and adding a few more corrections, we should get ‘Seriously, are you posting in a thread on the internet to “win arguments”?’ Please do not forget that sentences should be ended with the proper punctuation marks in this case a question mark. Taking that as the end of the sentence, we see the following sentence correctly starts with an uppercase (capital) letter, however we see that we need to do some slight adjustments to the rest of the sentence. My suggestion is to adjust the sentence to become – ’That was so silly that you made my dog jump because I snorted so loudly after reading that.

Give it a rest already~ useless boring video. They don’t play solo 1v1 scramblers. This video actually shows (look at each player and follow one) … that they are following in a less than coordinated way (but far more coordinated that other guilds). Bots move like >> – >> not >> – ^> … in every battle they are moving a little off.

Looks identical to many EU guilds, in fact some EU move even better ~ you know ones that kick the living crap outta NA guilds in open field combat. Because they move as a solid unit, buff the hell out of each other always. Going to hate on them too? …or you have something against WM because they are better at movement than most of us. the video shows more real player movement than anything else imho.

regardless of whether or not they’re bots, their playstyle is easily countered. it’s not effective against (groups) of players that are good at pvp.

Lol, good luck with that. Guardians bring up stability for everyone, so you cannot knock them down at all. AOE heals are casted by the elementalist for full health at all times. And to top it off, 100% critical chance builds with food buff to steal life on critical for even higher chance at 100% health. Hammer warriors at front lines to knock your entire zerg on their butts while the rest of the warriors and AOE kitten your zerg.

That is just the icing on the cake btw. More tactics….much more tactics….

Look up the guild Red Guard while you sit there. Watch their 15 man zerg wipe 30+ man zergs.

You’re missing the point that these guys DO NOT REACT. We can’t take them head on, obviously, but a flank or any sort of moving to the side and they just run back and forth auto attacking ahead. This is not zerg busting.

Actually they do react, but seemingly not all the time. We found out when we went up against them in lower tiers. Initially we were being wiped so we took a couple of days analyzing their movements, buffs, researching about their commander etc. We learned a lot. We then tried flanking tactics and managed to wipe out the zerg. They came back and we wiped them again. It was after this that they took us seriously and we started seeing variations in maneuvers and tighter coordination, and most interestingly, the zerg started to react to our movements.
Its interesting to watch them play, and I am still sometimes puzzled at the way they do thing.

Also one thing that would be nice to see is maybe a ball vs ball of AoN vs WM? I think that would be quite entertaining as well as educational.

I noticed something very odd about the WM zerg in EBG last night. There was a thief infront of the zerg and the whole group of 40+ WM players followed his moves exactly. And I mean exactly. He did the little jump puzzle to get the vista at the Magumma Vally Keep and then fell off the wall next to it. The entire zerg, every single one of them, jumped up to the vista, jumped over to the wall, and fell off in the same spot he did. Just makes you look twice when you see that. It looked strange.

30 minutes after that, we were in SM, wiped by WM and I stayed down in the castle just because it was so interesting watching their zerg. When our group was wiped, the WM zerg went to the supply depot and repaired a reinforced gate from zero to full in about 10 seconds, moving all in one big ball no bigger than a combo field, all 40 of them. I have never seen that. No one jumping, no one dodge rolling, no one out of formation, no individual movements at all, no one lagging behind, literally perfect.

Call it what you want, I don’t know what they are doing.. But it is definitely interesting, and makes you look twice. I just have to laugh it is so odd.

It is interesting and actually takes a lot of training. Two big reasons why you need to stack into a ball are that firstly enemy aoes are limited to 5 targets. Secondly friendly buffs are also limited.
Being in a ball means auto-revive, as soon as a friendly sees the revive option and do not forget the benefits of chained-regen. The need to keep stacked tightly however does restrict movement. Also, the usual solo build would not work quite well in group movements, so it requires some willingness on part of the single player to sacrifice solo ability. Furthermore, many skills are reserved for group use, usually called by the commander, or party leader for instance portals, TW, buffs, aoes, reflect walls, etc.
What I’m trying to say is, group battle would be different from large scale chaotic skirmishes, which are just large numbers of solo players battling it out. Also most groups would not share critical information such as set builds, choice of combos, group composition, set maneuvers etc, keeping most other people in the dark, partially explaining why it seems so interesting.

I can understand this frustration from Mag and DB (mostly Mag). You’re saying that if it was Kain NA vs Mag NA vs DB NA, things would be very much different. This could be very true, unfortunately we will never know with our current match-up.
Also, on another note, I finally saw DER|P yesterday, and I take it you mostly do small team tactics? Anyway, good efforts defending, seemed like you were everywhere. Also a shout out to your mesmers, wow, you guys take hiding in keeps to another level.

I think it really depends on how your guild rolls. If its just a mass of people bunching up initially, only later to break formation and do skirmishes, solo builds will probably be preferred. So you would see D/D thieves, D/D eles, hunters, warriors, guards, etc built more for solo and small team play, only they move in zergs. If on the other hand its for a 20-30 organized zerg, then definitely you want guardians and support ele to keep the team alive. You then add warriors and rangers for dps. Mesmer for mobility. Also people in larger zergs will have to forgo solo builds since they don’t do much for the group as a whole. Necros and engies can be very useful, but only if your group strategy calls for them.

It should be fairly even actually. Most Asians and Oceanics are at work right now, so probably the only ones online are the permanent resident ones. Of course, servers dependant on their NA presence will feel the effects later on at oceanic prime.

What time does kitten play? There’s seems to be a lot of posts from kitten but not many from guilds like AoN. I stayed up, saw AoN and I was impressed, but I haven’t seen kitten yet. I’d rather not rely on gossip and rumors, hence why I’d prefer seeing them in action myself.

Still, I think there is some misinformation going on. My theory is that probably people who have never trained and such get frustrated after they get wiped a few times, then head straight to the forums with the sole purpose of discrediting the other guy, who cares about the truth. Really, I think Kain and CD should be married in some way since that’s what you do when you’re married – fight. Week’s coming to an end, and it’ll be sad to part, but if I ever have to transfer, I want to be on a server fighting CD. Thanks guys for being good sports.

The squishy pugs of Kaineng need all the experience they can get before their server heads on to higher tiers. Not to mention the huge contrast of fighting t4 servers to t2/t1-worthy servers might give them a bit of a shock.

This is a valid argument, and I would have to agree that pugs need as much training as they can possibly get to prepare for the upper tiers. On another note, guilds and not pugs have been the engine of kain’s rise. We need to see whether some of these guilds are ready to once again play in tiers they were in before.

In most sports, there are teams that train and play together. For me in GW2 that team is my guild, so I’d say guild pride yes, server pride, maybe not. From a different angle, server means little more to me than some name in a game. For me, in real life, very few people that I know have heard about GW2 (if any), let alone the different servers. This is very different from say a football team, which probably almost everyone has heard of. On the other hand, I do sometimes tell my wife about the great guys in my guild.

What gets my goat is when people tell us what the deal is on our server, when they are not our server, seen what is going on behind the scenes, or talked to any of the transfers.

Do doubt there are “band wagoners” present, but that hardly makes us a “band wagon server”. We will see. I don’t have a crystal ball like some, but I do have personal experience with the WvW population on my own server.

As Special K has progressed and crushed each tier they have taken guilds with it. CD alone had 200+ and even 500+ people guilds jump to it in the last week. It certainly isn’t full of bandwagon jumpers but it still has a lot of them.

How much you wanna bet most of them will jump ship if you take a horrible beating in T2?

Thing is, anyone losing to Kaineng will most probably call Kaineng the Band Wagon Server, so just have to take that in stride, as it’s pointless arguing otherwise. As for jumping ship, well, one big reason of the sudden increase of influx (and exodus) is of course the Jan 28 deadline. Many guilds were already considering transferring, but the sudden deadline forced them to commit to a choice. Its possibly true some transferred because they wanted to be on the winning side. Still, most saw Jan-28 as the deadline to seriously pick a long-term server, with a good community. The ‘actual’ servers should start after this deadline.

I like the idea that all servers will eventually go up against each other. Still, rather than close down servers, lets just add 1 extra server making a season last 12 match-ups.

The concept is solid, but maths is a bit off. Saving 5g a day, you’ll have 200G in exactly 40 days.

Yeah, like Waraxx, I’m not ‘wealthy’ either but I know TP well enough to consider it like a small piggy bank of pocket money. If I need 3-45g in say an hour, I know i can easily get that with 1G in hand, in fact you can do it even if you only have 50s. You just need to figure out the rate of returns on your investment. OP, since you’re an economics major, you’re probably very familiar with compounding. Using ‘easy’ markets, you can easily make 10G per day, with around 10-20 minutes of effort. Having utilized these, that’s when you start to have to find ‘bigger’ markets. Unfortunately they also seem to turn gold much slower.
For me, a week is more or less the amount of time related risk I’m willing to take. However, I don’t do much plain speculation like what most people seem to do (buy x amount of Y, wait for price to go up). Rather I prefer flipping items with good spread and solid ‘real’ demand.
So I guess the question you’re really asking is are investments geared solely towards long term? I guess the answer, for me that is, would be to create a diversified portfolio. Imagine TP related activities like salvaging, crafting, farming, flipping, long-term speculation as industries. I’d spread my activities over a broad spectrum to minimize risk pertaining to single industries. Personally for me, I’d saturate crafting fast items and salvaging markets first since they give more or less guaranteed returns. Next I’d craft items that might take up to a week to to sell. Any surplus goes to flipping exotics, sometimes rares, and finally a small portion of whats left into something i think has a good chance of price appreciation. Once in a while I’d dabble with the mystic forge, and depending on the market for raws, sometimes even bags.

Really Anet should concentrate more on these issues. Ever since I got the game, I’ve been to dungeons only once. Completing that dungeon was a horrible experience, and well, I’d rather play a different game than have to go to a dungeon again. Like other posters in this thread, I tend to avoid cramped up spaces, which unfortunately, you tend to encounter a lot throughout the game. I’m posting right now mostly because I just did a story bit which was inside a very cramped space. My head is still throbbing, 10 minutes after completing that bit, and it feels downright awful. Not to whine, but I’d really like to know if anything can be done about it, and whether anything will actually be done about it. Give us some hope Anet!
Also what the poster above me said. Making things transparent has worked really well elsewhere, why not give that a try here? No-one’s being critical in how you design your games, but really please give this a thought.

Hey there StormWolf, so you survived a trip to NSP with your sanity intact? Congratulations and greetings from NSP and meow. I actually spent a lot of time reading from post #1, so much so, that I don’t really know what to write other than its been a good fight so far. Enjoyed seeing tactics of WM and SoS, also see KAIN now and then. For our part, we’re taking this chance to up our own capabilities, let whiners whines I say, that’s what they do. We’re achievers, so, yeah.
