Krytan Explorer Stuck 174/175

I know there was one weird spot in Brisban Wildlands for me, near a lab or one of the far corners I think. It also happened that, after I had 100%’d that area, magically a new POI was needed (even though it still said 100%) and it happened to be in that area.

Try googling “GW2 krytan explorer common miss”.

Make sure it’s not something super obvious by checking all your areas in your mainmap. Even if it says 100%, it might have a new POI from an update that overrides an old one. This was true for me in Lion’s Arch. This affected the actual POI counts and while I don’t believe it affects KE, it’s possible.

Also: jumping puzzles. If you haven’t done 100% of them. 2 billion times. Like I have. Ahem.

Best of luck :)

Thank you to everyone whom has contacted me.

I believe at this point I have found a good fit.

I’ll bump this back up if that changes.

Thanks!

Hello!

I’m in search of a very friendly and active guild that is extremely casual. I’m not super competitive and at this point am only interested in PvE activities. I’m returning after a long hiatus – due to my guild becoming inactive and RL getting busier I stopped logging in around Halloween/Christmas of last year. An active forum is a bonus, as HEDO’s forum was never super busy. LGBTQA/alphabetsoup friendly is a must.

I’m not hardcore and like messing around in the game more than taking things seriously. I enjoy jumping puzzles, dancing around, playing the ingame flute, and pretending I know what I’m doing. So an expert dungeon crawler I am not – but if you’re cool with someone patient enough to sit around for hours helping you get that last jumping puzzle that you can’t quite figure out (or just porting you), or someone to help out lower level toons and newer players, to play stealth res when everyone is dying, or to just run events/guild events/kill stuff with/finish personal story stuff, I’m your gal. (Although, again, since I haven’t been around in months I can’t advise on current goings-on and am still getting used to recent changes.) I only really play my 80 thief, although I do have a 65 Mesmer that I have no clue how to properly use, AKA porting alt.

I live in EST, have a full time job, play mostly after 5pm – midnight and on weekends, and am willing to switch servers for the right group (although I’ll be guesting at first to ensure it’s worth the investment).

Have a great weekend everyone!

What I’m working on is finishing up any sections I hadn’t gotten to – I’m just coming back from a many months away from the game. I just port everywhere, I’ve got plenty of money to (I went from level 57, I think, to 75 in a few hours after work every day and, honestly, almost all of my weekend – and once I started getting rares and an occasional exotic, my moneys shot up exponentially).

Now, while working on new sections, I find a single corner and just do them one section at a time. If I get bored of doing the hearts I’ll just run the waypoints and POIs and maybe the vistas. The heart events are repetitive but I play a thief so spamming attacks is a bit fun for me.

I’m just over 50% myself and I’m done most of the lower-level areas, though up to 50 is still low-level for me now. Hoping to hit 80 tonight or tomorrow night, just got home from work. I can probably do a single area in 2-3 hours, less if it’s low level, obviously more for the higher level areas.

I like the suggestion for turning on a TV show or movie in the background for the uber repetitive stuff, though. I do have netflix. Hmm.

Best of luck!

Firstly, this is not bashing. I’m not bashing the people who bash thieves, I’m not bashing anyone. I really don’t want anyone to come in here and bash anyone else for any reason at all. I’m just a bit disappointed and maybe a little sad.

It seems any time I come on these forums, I constantly see people posting how certain thief builds are OP – and why anet should nerf this and that. I’m not going to go into all the builds or how there are only a couple or what not.

It just disappoints me a bit because Thief has been nerfed already, quite a bit. Then again, so has a lot of things since the game went out. I was one of the earliest people playing the game after the betas, took a few months off when I got bored, made a friend try it and now I’m back into it.

Now, I’m a casual player. I have, at this point in time, zero interest in WvW and PvP, nor have I ever cared to play either – and this may change once I actually try it and figure out what the heck I’m doing with it, I know. I’m actually not a hugely social person, and I don’t really play multiplayer games. I’m a huge gamer out of GW and even on the rest of my games, I don’t play with other people. Heck, I don’t think I’m even in any real, active guilds (I made one just to throw friends into, but shortly realized I have no friends and just kinda left it at that). This is why I like GW2 so much – I can solo everything, but people are still everywhere, which means for huge meta events or even small daily events if I’m finding it a bit tricky I can just wait for more people to show up, or come back later, or heck – if I’m feeling particularly extroverted, I can even pop a waypoint on the chat and say “Champ up” or what have you and get at least a couple strangers to help me. And right now I’m having tons of fun at the Crown Pavilion. No one really cares that I play a thief because it doesn’t effect them – but a lot of these nerfs have effected my thief, made her so this or that was a bit trickier to do. The only problem I have (right now, as I may want to try PVP at some point) is when I want to do dungeons. It’s a group event, I’m not a group sort of person normally, so finding out how many people are basically just “thanks but no thanks” because I play a thief, regardless of my playstyle (which admittedly is far from the “ideal”, I’d imagine – I’m only just shy of 70 right now, hoping to hit 80 by next weekend since I work m-f 9-6+2 hours commute total. I run Superior Mad King because it amuses me to no end to see birds mauling my enemy every time I pop Thieves Guild, even though I know Zerk is considered “ideal”). It sure doesn’t help my social anxiety.

Then again, I’m playing for fun, not dos loot. It seems that most people doing dungeons and all that these days are running and farming them – which I get. Doubtless I’ll be doing the same soon enough. Maybe. If I can find anyone to run with that understands no, I don’t have any clue what I’m doing because no, I haven’t done this before because no, people don’t like partying with thieves (even though it’s so much easier to rez as a thief – pop a TG, especially effective with full Mad Gear set birds elite, or Ambush to draw aggro and if you need it, Shadow Refuge and/or Blinding Powder).

Oh well. People will always complain about something after all, and while the majority of the Thief complaints are PvP, some of it extends into survivability and thus dungeons (at least in my experience). But I love my thief, and I have no plans to stop using her.

TL;DR lots of thief hate, mostly pvp stuff that I don’t play probably because of thief hate but mostly social anxiety, but what if I want to do a dungeon, huh? A lot has been nerfed but that’s what things do, they get nerfed. It’s just that some of the thief nerf has made certain thief playstyles less effective compared to others for us introverts who have to gather up ten minutes of courage to even consider asking to maybe possibly join a dungeon run and how dare we not run zerker gear to make up for our squishy lil selves! The scandal!

I know not everyone is all about the fastest CoF1 run possible, or whatever people are doing these days. The first time I did ask a group running the first game dungeon on story mode, I did go with them – but I felt way less effective compared to the rest of them. They were all really nice. But that doesn’t seem very common, sadly. Maybe it’s my server? I’m on Kaineng, because that’s which server a friend was on who doesn’t even play anymore. But sometimes it sure feels like “dos loot asap” is what most people are all about these days.

Aaanyway. Just a random opinion from a random nobody who needed to vent a touch. Have a nice day.

Relatively trivial; funny arm glitch and missing word

Probably has already been noted, but “Ebonhawk Ceasefire Agreement”, in the flavor text:

“This is a copy of the delcaration of ceasefire between humans and charr, putting a pause a war that has lasted for generations.” should be “This is a copy of the delcaration of ceasefire between humans and charr, putting a pause to a war that has lasted for generations.” (and I won’t question the writer’s choice of wording – “pause” instead of “stop” or “end” because hey, who knows.)

Also, a weird arm glitch I noticed, as depicted. I had fallen and revived with “4”, which happens, but this little glitch hasn’t happened to be before. My chest armor was broken and I think by that point everything else was damaged, but I can’t be sure. Anyway, when I got up my character’s arm was stuck in that reaching-out angle. She was holding her weapon and everything, but she stayed stuck as I rolled, jumped, and ran around. It ceased once I did my basic “1” attack but I thought it was pretty funny for her to be running around reaching out in grope-mode.

As far as the annoying sound issue goes, it seems very similar to the issue a lot of people were having in Godslost Swamp (I think that’s what it’s called), which I’ve personally experienced: while fighting the shadow behemoth, there was a really annoying, loud sound that would come up and the only way people seemed to be able to fix it was to reclient their game. Fixed it for me, though I didn’t think about adjusting the sound quality.

I think the issue in Godslost was fixed, so undoubtedly the fix for this issue would be the same, if it’s similar on the technical/code side. Like as not it is.

How can I determine the visual style?

Each armor type (light/medium/heavy) have a different set look depending upon level. I believe GW2w has each level set in an image, but I haven’t checked lately and, as posted above, it changes every 80 levels or so.

If you like the look of one particular armor, get transmutation stones (by completing a map area). It allows you to keep facets of certain armors by combining the two items – say you have one item with great stats, and another that looks cool and has a good rune/sigil/whatever, but doesn’t have good stats. You can use a transmutation stone to keep the appearance and rune of the second while transmuting over the stats of the first. I use mine up pretty often.

Sylvari thief. Cycle of night, white stag, just joined the Order of Whispers. Currently level 36 or 37.

I’ve had a few quests start doing this recently – I don’t think it started until after the story quest where you play a little golem bomber dude – it may have been before or after entering Orr to rescue Tegwen (Tegwin? idr), can’t be sure. Usually it’s the Pale Tree that doesn’t get voice acted right, but sometimes it’s the other NPCs – and often now it’s the first lines. I think Caithe and Trahearne have failed to speak but I’m not sure if any of the order leaders failed. I know some didn’t have moving lips, but I think I remember once or twice they did? That I can’t be sure of.

Still has the subtitles so it’s really just odd, not annoying or gamebreaking. It’s only in the cutscenes for me.

Third party gold marketing Vs Black Lion Trading Co

in Black Lion Trading Co

Gold selling is, obviously, not allowed – and buying gold from them is a bannable offense. Also to note that most of these sellers are just trying to get you to pay to give them your password, so that they can turn your account into another spam account. That aside, however, and completely ignoring the fact that you’re an idiot if you buy from them because no, you won’t see that gold…

Most of these gold sellers are offering gold at a cheaper rate than ANET.

Right now, for example, you can buy 800 gems for 2g62s, or 32.75c per gem. However, selling gems back for gold is only equal to ~13.5c per gem. (I’m pretty sure I did that math right, anyway lol) Obviously, the ratio is far from even. Now if we’re comparing that to what anet sells gems for:

800 gems for $10, or 1g8s when you trade gems for gold.

Say a gold seller advertises 1g for $5 USD. I see advertising for less, but let’s say that. That’s automatically about half the price approximately for that gold. Now since it costs more to trade for gems than the other way around, you wouldn’t get 800 gems for it – however, in the end, it would still cost about $10 for the same amount of gems if you’re trading gold for gems, if not a little more – 800 gems is just shy of 3g, which would be closer to $15 from a gem seller.

So it depends entirely how you’re looking at it (and also relies on my early AM math being accurate, which someone correct my math if it’s not lol). If gold selling happened to be a legit business and you were looking for just copious amounts of gold and NOT gems, a gold seller would, in theory, be the better bet. However, if you’re looking for gold to make into gems, buying right from ANET would be the better bet. There are also gem sellers, though not as common, but I’m sure the math evens out approximately the same. Again, if my math holds up.

(I did the prices yesterday so they may be a touch inaccurate this morning.)

Is there some way to get Trading Post prices....

The market will eventually even out. Give it a month or two – so many people are in the earlier areas that a lot of the mats, drops, and such items are just really common.

Anyway, it’s a free market. It would be ridiculous and stupid to put imposing limits on things. After all, some items are far more rare than others regardless of levels, and some don’t even have levels. Your suggestion wouldn’t work at all.

I do, however, think that people shouldn’t be able to post offers for items below the vendor price. If people want to be stupid enough to sell for 1c over vendor just to think they’re making profit, that’s their own stupidity and fault. I personally just sell all my extra stuff in TP instead of vendor, though, and salvage what I don’t sell. I’ll take it out after a week or two and recheck prices – usually I’ll salvage that stuff as well.

If it was permanent, even with a cooldown timer, I’d get one. But since there’s a limit and it includes offline time as well – well, it’s a complete waste.

A cooldown timer would make sense (such as 1 hour per 24 hours of use, or so).

Killing 1c undercutting

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: starii.3865

starii.3865

^ car dealerships don’t work like that anyway lol. It’s called negotiations. Plus, that’s EXACTLY what competition is. I work in electronic retail sales and people will come in and decide to buy across the street for $5 less when the item is like, $140. That’s just the way people are – they want a good deal, and less always looks better to them.

Regardless, undercutting is just how the world works, so it makes sense to happen in a game. That’s just how it is, you’ll have to deal with it. Plus, the faster that 1c undercutter sells their items, the faster the next buyer will see the next in line. For certain items it does matter, but usually not.

Take crafting components, for example. Let’s say small scales. They’re currently going for around 2s in the TP last I checked. Say I post 20 of them, that’s 40s. Say I post them for 1.9s instead. Does it make a big financial difference to me? 20c is hardly worth complaining over. Does it get bought any faster? A little, but not really, considering there are far more orders than supply right now, and usually only one or two sellers have any available at any given time (I’m one of them). How does it benefit me? I’m impatient, and that’s about it. But on regular items such as drops, I match lowest.

Now would I get annoyed if I were trying to sell a 10g+ item, which isn’t bought anywhere near as often as mats? Sure, maybe. But that’s entirely different. Items like that people aren’t trying to sell as fast as possible – they’re just trying to sell them right now, since not that many people are running that much money yet.

I don’t believe that that’s accurate, since crafting legendary items is done via the mystic forge. You need items that may or may not be easier to acquire with certain disciplines, but that also depends on what legends you’re looking to make.

8 proffesions in 1 character, or 2 per character...?

in Crafting

Posted by: starii.3865

starii.3865

There may or may not be an achievement for having all 8 crafts on the same character – currently known. Other than that, no advantage. The only disadvantage would be that if you need something crafted and you have it on a different character, you have to wait for a couple of loading screens – and the cost to change professions outweighs my impatience, so I chose to have it on my alt characters.

As far as spreading it out goes, it seems far more advantageous to me. In the earlier levels you can throw all of the refinements onto alts, giving a lot of early EXP, which helps. Additionally, you can craft 8+ slot bags (depending on if you have the runes) and use the alts to store their own components instead of your bank, and just use the bank for components relevant to your main and that are used on multiple crafts (such as runes/etc).

Some items are soulbound, but most stuff doesn’t seem to be (unless you put a rune on it, which is silly since found items with runes can be sold, but not items you’ve put a rune on yourself). I, personally, have a thief, necro, and elementalist so far – thief makes med armor for self and weapons for everyone else, and necro does tailor for self and ele, as well as artificing. Ele I’m going to have cook and jewel. Eventually I’ll also make a ranger – huntsman and maybe armor just to craft it, since I can already make the med armor with my thief). I don’t know when I’ll actually play those characters, since thief is my main atm, but by covering armor and weapons it means I can always be self-dependent with crafting.

It’s free to switch to a new profession, but to switch back to an existing profession it’s 10c per level; thus, 40s at level 400. Which really isn’t a lot, but close to half a gold – so I prefer to just switch characters.

Bone Shard - Where can I find it?

I find a lot of risen in swamp areas, some in 15-25, but you’d probably find more bone shards in 25-35 areas. They respawn relatively quickly in some areas, but if you can find any undead/risen dynamic event areas that go relatively frequently (if you’ve ever done the risen DE in Morgan’s Spiral in the Sylvari 1-15 area, you’ll know what I mean), then that’d be the place to go.

Good luck! I need to farm some of these myself.

Pay more attention to your minimap – it’s hard to go anywhere without seeing one or two that lead to one or two more, in my experience. Keep in mind you can come back and harvest them later – it’s all about remembering where they are (especially rich veins for mining!). Each is on a different timer, so once you get a feel for their timers you’ll know when to come back.

You’ll get better nodes when you get into higher level areas, too. I DO wish, however, we could view found nodes on our full map – not just the minimap. That would make it a lot easier to return to lower level maps for nodes (and have them gray out once we’ve harvested them, until they’ve refreshed). How helpful that would be. Oh well.

Anyway, if you’re not exploring a lot then that’s why you’re not finding them. You have to explore more – you can’t just go from point A to point B and expect to find a ton of nodes.

Also, if you’re having problems finding leather, you’re not salvaging enough. Salvage absolutely everything – unless it sells for so much that it would financially impair you NOT to sell it. I’m at about 3g right now and I only sell items worth 1-2s+ but when I was in the 1g range I’d sell anything ~50c+ All depends on your funds.

I also keep 1 extra of each harvesting tool on me at all times, and 1 set of the previous (so 2 sets of iron, 1 copper currently, soon to change), and 2 crude salvage kits (for salvage trophies) and 2 basic (for gear/weapons). This way I also never run out of inventory space, so long as I can take a few minutes to salvage and sell the good stuff on the TP.

Hey, being a crafter sucks! But we can fix it!

in Crafting

Posted by: starii.3865

starii.3865

Most posts I see on “why crafting is broken” are people whining about stupid things, trying to get their way, and mostly because they want to make higher-end gear faster and cheaper because they don’t want to farm like the rest of us.

This, however, I find completely accurate and every idea is appealing. Also, a proper trading system – every single game I’ve ever played has one. The trading post is always bugged out and not a viable option for more expensive items, especially considering we don’t get our listing fees back. One way to fix that, though, would be the ability to edit an existing posting or “Relist”, allowing us to adjust the price, without any further listing fees. Take people selling exotics and legendary items right now – some 50g+. The listing fee on that is quite a lot, so having to relist and pay the fees twice? Not helpful, anet.

I’m pretty sour about not having a proper trade-between-players option. Also, yes on making upgraded items not account-bound. That’s just ridiculous.

You can transmute with stones, as far as appearance goes – so you can craft an item and use the appearance of another item, if you really want. That’s usually what I do. I just wish I could choose the appearance of the items I craft – especially armor. There are multiple types of medium armor. Most of the crafted ones? Not as appealing.

I haven’t read anyone asking about this before, I don’t think, nor have I read anywhere that this is an exploit. I know transferring servers is supposed to cost so if it’s free, maybe that’s bugged? If it is, then it’d be an exploit – and if it’s free for now until they get guest servering up, then I don’t think it would be considered an exploit. You still have to spent a lot of time actually finding and farming the items, so it’s still work.

Regardless, I’d like to see an official post to be sure. There are certain farms I like that I’d like to get to on a less crowded server sometimes.

I’m pretty sure they’re trying to address the guilds that have disappeared completely first. It has been acknowledged in that thread that these issues are occurring, but unfortunately they haven’t addressed it yet. I’m sure they’re looking at it to try to see what happened – it is GUILD wars, after all. What is the game without working guilds? And it seems that more guilds are bugged right now than not. I know the one I made recently is – same issues you’re addressing. I’m gaining influence from activities but I’m not going to risk trying to upgrade/build or use items, and like most people the fact that I’m in a guild is being ignored by the appropriate NPCs.

The fact is they probably find guilds that are disappearing a more pressing issue than the ones that are just bugged. They have tons and tons of bugs to work on – like how most of Orr is bugged. It’s unfortunately, but that seems to be their take on it.

Good luck, hopefully this gets fixed soon. I want to set up my /dance guild lol. (Yeah we’re lame. OH WELL.)

Regardless, considering there are far more pressing things to worry about (half of Orr being bugged, tons of skill point, gameplay, and story bugs, etc), this is so far off the radar that anet probably couldn’t be paid to care right now.

I do like my character better without, but seeing as how it doesn’t hurt anything I don’t really care.

Necro minions aren’t really made to last forever – if you’re resummoning somewhat regularly you’re doing it right, especially if it coincides approximately with cooldown. And all pets/summons agro – Thieves Guild and trap thief summons always agro everything around. I don’t know if hunter pets do or don’t, I haven’t used any.

If they aren’t surviving long enough, try taking on smaller mobs. You’ll also understand the profession better the more you use it and experiment with traits, which will help, and you’ll have much tougher pets later on. They’re SUPPOSED to be temporary. “It started out as a corpse, and now it’s a corpse again” after all. You’re only level 15, give it a bit more time.

A word of advice: keep an extra of each gathering item on you, including those from one level/tier down (I always have a copper/iron set on me, and an extra set of what I’m gathering the most – at this rate iron, but that’s about to change). That’ll be easier to do once you craft 8slot bags (and higher, later on). And if you’re in a higher level area and find the lower tier node, switch really quick to save a bit of coin. You’ve probably read about “Deposit all collectables”, and never forget to use that to your advantage. Also, I recommend always keeping salvage kits on hand – I personally just use crude for salvage junk and basic for all the armor/weapons/etc.

As far as what to sell – at your level you’ll want to gain gold, too. Don’t sell any crafting materials, since you’ll probably use them later. Now as far as actual items go, it depends on your level. Up until very recently I’d only sell items if I could put them on the TP for around 50copper or more – for you, you might want to start at about 30 copper items until you have a bit more flexibility with money. Once you’ve got ~20-30 silver you can raise that, and keep raising it as you gather more. I’m lingering at ~2g and change right now, and I only sell if it’s worth ~2silver+. Anything not in that value range, salvage. I salvaged pretty much everything I couldn’t use very early on since before I started the game I read an excellent crafting guide, and it helped once I started crafting – which I did as soon as I found the crafting stations, which was ~ level 5-6.

However, I would not hold off to start crafting. You should start right away to take advantage of the levels you can gain. Start with just refining everything (it’s not advised to take on an armor and a weapon craft at once since they use the same FCMs, but that’s what I do and I just manage what I’m using – something like cook or jeweler, which uses entirely different stuff, is usually more recommended). You’ll gain easy EXP, and if you’ve been reading the forums then you should known how to do discoveries best. Those couple of extra levels for your character from crafting will definitely help make the early game a bit easier (especially if you like to do what I do: stupidly run into higher level areas just to map waypoints for nodes and easier travel later lol).

Good luck! Also, later on it’ll be good to be familiar with which nodes require which types of tools. You can type /wiki in the game to look that stuff up – that way you’re never wasting more expensive tools on lesser nodes.

What's the reasoning for paying to switch crafts?

It’s a money sink, as stated above, and not a huge one anyway. It’s pretty cheap to switch between disciplines – and as stated above, you could just start a couple alts and use them for other crafting disciplines, which is what I do.

If it’s between a bit of money and having all my levels or switching around free and loosing that, I’d pay. But since I have alts I don’t bother doing anything else on each character. Also, it would be far too easy and cheap to max out every discipline if you could do so on a single character, therefore making legendary crafting and higher-tier crafting that much more accessible, therefor those items would become worth less.

Unless you’re specifically leveling crafting a lot, your level, your crafting level, and the amount needed to switch disciplines should balance out. And you don’t need to pay to switch to a new one – you only pay to switch back to one you’ve already leveled before.

Discoveries

in Crafting

It depends on what disciplines you have.

Weaponsmith, for example: in each level range you have 3 or 4 new inscriptions – you want to use the highest level inscriptions possible. Then, depending on your level, you’ll have type (bronze, iron, etc) for all your components. You can technically make 1 of each item with 1 of each inscription (say you had 10 weapons you could make and 8 total inscriptions – that’s 80 possible combinations). However, you’ll get the most EXP from using your highest-tier inscriptions with your highest-tier components sets (the 2 items for making a weapon).

So if you have 4 inscriptions in your current tier (they’re usually gold on your list the entirety of that level range), craft each one and then craft 4 of a weapon set to correspond: for example, 4 dagger blades and 4 dagger hilts. Then use discovery to make 1 of each combination – 4 in total. Then repeat that for every weapon.

The same applies to the other main crafts using FCM usually. Artificer and Jeweler are a bit different, and cooking is an entirely different beast altogether. You also have to make sure to pull crafting materials from your collection into your inventory if you want to try to craft new items using your base stuff. Personally, I get a ton of EXP just from making 1 of each combination of each weapon until I reach the next level range and the next set of inscriptions. Also, you can make items on your recipe list that are listed in gold for a decent amount of EXP, but it won’t be anything like discoveries. That’s why I usually make the components first, before discovery, while they’re still gold and give more exp instead of like, none. Unlike inscriptions, they tend to make no exp very quickly, whereas that tier of inscriptions usually stay gold for me until the next tier.

Think I'm doing it wrong

Yeah, crafting is entirely about discovery really, and as the above post said: every recipe in a given tier.

Say weaponsmith, for example. You have inscriptions and lots of weapons. Get the materials you’d need to make 1 of each inscription and craft those from recipe. Then, go make the pieces from a weapon – dagger, for example. You should usually have 4 inscriptions per tier and which they are vary. So make 4 dagger sets to correspond – then go to discovery and make one of each inscription/dagger set. Now go back and do this for each weapon, until you reach your next tier/level range. You’ll get the most EXP from discovering sets from inscriptions that are gold in your recipe list and from the best base components you can make (iron over bronze, for example), since those will craft higher-level stuff. And then you can use those weapons if they’re good enough, or sell them – or, if you want, throw all 4 of those same weapons (the 4 daggers, for example, even with different inscriptions) into the mystic forge to get an even better, cooler dagger (usually) – applies for all types of weapons/items. The same tactic applies for leatherworking: make one of each insignia and that many armor sets per insignia.

So say you have the mats to make 4 armor types (helm, chest, leggings, books), and your highest tier has 3 insignias available. That’s 12 discoveries, which equals a lot of EXP. That’s usually enough to bump you close to the next tier, and even then there are usually other recipes you can discovery outside of just the “base components + craftspecific attachment (insig/inscript/etc)”. Also note that while discovery gives the most EXP, any item on your recipe list that is in gold will give a decent amount of EXP.

I do both weaponsmith and leatherworking on my main character – which, yes, is probably not the best move, since they use the same FCM. I don’t focus much on crafting, however, but I make sure to gather absolutely everything I can while I’m out and about and rarely ever have to go looking for materials (once in awhile I’ll buy a couple if they’re cheap in the TP, as some are a bit trickier to find than others). I level weaponsmith a whole lot faster – logical, since it has far more sets available to make per tier of inscriptions.

If you want to “do it right” and drop one, you can switch out leatherworking (I find weaponsmith my favorite, it’s just so valuable) – and you can always come back to it later. You won’t loose your exp in that craft, but you’ll have to pay for what you’ve already done to switch back. Cooking can be really cheap, easy to do, and a lot of fun if you know where to get what you need, and doesn’t use ANY FCM. Jeweler and artificer similarly.

You can also take up other crafting disciplines on other characters.

We need Outward Scaling, not just Upward.

Great idea. Just basically giving the game a little more AI.

The difficult part of this is that there are just so many DEs. You could, in theory, start by simply giving more kiting and movement to enemies, and bringing in more ranged enemies. You could have enemies try to run off with goods in collection quests, too, or have enemies make traps, whatever. It would take a large amount of time to rework dynamic events this way. However, I personally think it would be very, very worth it. Start with the largest, most grandiose events, and work down from there.

Would take some time, but very worth it.

You could do cooking again on the second character since it’s cheap, and just blow it out for the levels. Anything that uses a lot of fine crafting materials gets expensive if you don’t plan to actually get them yourself – not farming, necessarily, but completion (killing everything you see, gathering every node and going back to rich veins regularly, salvaging everything that isn’t worthwhile to sell depending on your current money range, doing all events, etc).

I like weaponsmith because I craft 1 of each new inscription when I learn the new sets – per weapon (dagger, sword, greatsword, etc.). Then I just discover all possible combinations, though I do one or two at a time because often I’ll level out of the good exp from those sets by the time I finish. You do that and you’ll usually have 4 of the same general type of item – sometimes good to sell, sometimes not. If not, mystic forge them for a nicer item to use or to sell.

If you didn’t use up too many FCM on your first character, you should have enough to get you started. Too bad you sold your excess – artificing uses a few cooking ingredients. Basically just see what you have stored up (if you do have any stored) and see what uses that stuff. You’ll probably also run across the higher level stuff on your first character that you can use on your second if you level in crafting faster than you level your character for higher tier FCM.

Why I think that crafting is broken

If you really want higher level gear from crafting, craft 4 of the same item (like 4 daggers, for example; I use different inscriptions on each since I discover one of each per weapon) and throw them in the mystic forge. I always get good stuff, either to sell or to use. I don’t really farm for materials and rarely buy any, maybe 1 or 2 FCM just to complete a set within that level range, and I’m normally crafting (and then usually forging for) gear appropriately leveled. And I’m doing it the stupid way – leather and weapon smithing. I just salvage anything that I can’t sell for ~50c+ in the TO, and once I level more that’ll go up. I’m only in my late 30-somethings level wise, and I haven’t thrown very much time at all into crafting. I think I’ll be getting my armor to 100 soon, and my weapon to 150 soon.

I don’t really focus on it much, I just craft after I’ve completed an area (while collecting all nodes and fighting all mobs I cross and participating in any event I come upon, of course) and with no effort and solely discovery, I keep my crafting leveled around what level gear I’m running.

Skillbar not sortable?!

Which skills are you talking about specifically?

The weapon skills on the left don’t change position – they stay in the order the unlock tree is in. The utility/skill point skills on the right you should be able to change simply by clicking the little arrow above the skill box (while not in combat), and selecting which skill you want in that slot (or from hero – skill menu). Elite skills are like weapons skills – stays static on the far right.

If you’re not able to change your utility skills around, that would be a bug. If you just want to move the skills around on the bar outside of the specifics above, well I’m pretty sure you can’t – not a bug.

You CAN, however, go to your optionus (f1 or esc-options) and change which numbers on your keyboard correspond to which skills – say you want weapon skill 3 on key 2, since you use it more than weapon skill 2. You can definitely do that – but it won’t change where the icons are on the screen/skillbar.

"Your message has been suppressed due to excessive messaging"

I get this sometimes, too, mostly in areas where I and a bunch of people are randomly /dance’ing. For me it usually happens when I repeat the same message a few times (such as "WHOO or “OH YEAH” lol), and it happens after a few of the same message – but even fifteen, twenty, thirty minutes later, it still won’t let me post that message. Now what’s odd is I didn’t experience that at first on my sylvari in Divinity’s Reach, but a couple of days later I was getting it on my new human character. I was only using /say, and not /map, so I don’t know if it would do the same thing with /map.

It’s really annoying when you’re trying to actually say something to someone – and if it does have to do with typing speed than that’s just BS. I understand wanting to find ways to block spammers, especially those “GOLD FOR USD” people that are running rampant especially right now, but if it is typing speed than that is simply unjust. I mean, I type ~100wpm+, I can pop out short few word messages faster than some people can copy/paste.

I don’t think it’s a bug, probably, but I do think the criteria for message blocking should be readdressed.
