I can’t find anything to replace the stun breaker on Cleansing Fire. I play PvE with my staff ele, and run her with my husband’s necro. They make a pretty good pair; not our best, but she is half-way decent.
But Cleansing Fire is key to her build. With the Cantrip trait, it gives her 3 stacks of Might. It does decent AoE buring. It removes 3 conditions. And it broke Stun. This was her only stun removal.
To keep the 3 stacks of Might, I would have to use a different Cantrip, but I don’t see any as good as Cleansing Fire, with or without Break Stun. And if I change to a Glyph, I don’t get the Might from Cantrips.
As some have said in this thread, I guess I’ll run without a stun breaker. Pretty sure that ’s not gonna be pretty.
I could live with reducing the number of conditions it removes easier than taking away the Break Stun.
Try Arcane Shield (now a stun breaker) + Ether Renewal? Gets you the same effect as the old Cleansing Fire along with brief invulnerability, though without the AoE burn.
Yes, I do use Ether Renewal. Which is why I could live with Cleansing Fire having less conditional removal, as opposed to losing the Break Stun. But changing to Arcane Shield, I lose the 3 stacks of Might from the Spell Slinger trait (Cantrip trait).
can someone tell me what is GoEP?
:P

yeah this is awesome – hard enough to be a challenge, short enough to not take all night. I thought it was really good fun
Need more like this that cant be farmed / facerolled
Well, then, I wonder if these posts in chat were serious?
Yes, there is a chest on the boat. Loot wasn’t great (for me), but there was loot in it.
A little ways into your Personal Story quests, you will be asked to make a decision that will open up one more armor and weapon vendor to you. I don’t want to put a spoiler here, so if you want more info, you can PM me. You need gold to buy from them.
When you are out doing hearts, many Karma vendors offer certain armor types or weapons. Always preview any weapons /armor a Karma vendor has to offer, even if it is below your level or stats. But make sure if you like it that you purchase the right one; heavy, medium, or light. You can’t undo the purchase.
(Many times an NPC involved in an event will turn into a vendor at the end of the event. I have seen some of them offer rings or necklace. )
There are cultural weapon and armor vendors for each race; you will find them in the main cities. They are marked on the map. The weapon skins may not be unique, and might be found in the Trading Post. Weapon vendors takes Karma. The armor vendors has unique armor you won’t find anywhere else, and they sell for gold. (You cannot buy from another race’s vendor.)
There are other weapon vendors about. Lion’s Arch has Karma weapon vendors that sell Lion Guard styled weapons. There is a level 30 zone that has a special weapon vendor as well. I won’t name it here, but you can PM me if you want to know it.
There are special skins in Orr later on, if you do map completion of an Orr zone. These can be sold, and you can find them on the Trading Post. Some weapon skins from special events could be sold, and you might find those on the TP too. You can preview on the TP.
Oh, and as for ascended gear, I don’t support it. I don’t agree with it, and I won’t spend my time on it. I would rather buy the little dog pet with my laurels (which is what I am saving for now), than to support ascended gear. I’ll support the gem store, the living story content…almost anything besides ascended gear.
Nice post though on how to attain it, for those that do want it.
The concept of farming is lost on most of the GW2 community, I think. I have farmed some in every other game.
Take Sunday morning, before the server gets busy, and go fishing. Use the fish oil or fishes for potions or sell them for a little profit. Fishing was relaxing.
Maybe do some mining. Always could use ore, or could sell it. And one could never have enough spider silk.
As for GW2…well, there’s no fishing. I know where there is ore and gardens to pick. But they are pretty far apart from each other, and the cost to portal there would most likely not make it worthwhile with the cross-server TP. The deal with other games is find out what is not being farmed much on your server, or crafted much, and fill a need. Not much need to fill with normal farming in GW2 as far as I have been able to make out.
Doesn’t mean I don’t make any money on TP from drops. Mostly from low level mats/items when I am down-leveled. But it is inconsistent, and I wouldn’t call it farming.
I go to Orr now and again. I do temples. I have seen event chains succeed and fail. Either way, I’m usually not all that excited about the drops. I get more excited finding Orch or trees. I’m lucky to get two Orch ores out of salvaging items that won’t sell on TP. Mostly I do Orr because it’s something different to do, and I feel like I’m helping out when we turn a Temple.
I would only consider doing dungeons on a regular basis if they dropped something special like skins or stats. But that requires a setup of a certain boss always has a chance to drop something. And that would require that we have a costume slot. So yeah, there’s that.
As for the suggestion of helping out in lower levels, I do, when I am there. I don’t leave people hanging. But, I miss being able to help lower levels run dungeons. Being lowered down means hubby and I can’t run across a newbie or two and run them. That’s a part of community that I miss. I don’t need anything out of the dungeons. I don’t need money from dungeons, but it was fun to help new persons learn a dungeon or get a cool drop they could use. We help out with events, but it’s not quite the same. Not really in a party. Not really talking. Not really getting to know anyone, or share in the experience with them.
So, yes, I understand where the OP is coming from. It’s different here. Some of it very good. Some things I miss.
I always tip the Mesmer. I don’t care for JP, because I’m not good at them. I will only do them with my Engineer and trusty rifle. The only one I actually like is the pirate one in LA. I do some easy ones now and again. A hard one if I have to. But a portal saves me aggravation and time.
I tip 40s. I’ve had 50s returned as too much, but 40s has not been returned, so I stick with that. It’s totally worth it to me.
Let’s try a different analogy.
I am a trainer at my company, teaching about 10 different topics. I am one of the “older” trainers, having been at my company 8 years. There are other trainers; some of the newest ones with only 1 – 2 years.
I would strive to be called an “expert” or “leader” on my topics. So would the new trainers. It is an achievement to them to work on expertise on their subject, some of which would be the same as my subjects. This doesn’t have as much to do with how long they have been teaching it, as it does with mastery. Like killing 500 centaurs gives you an achievement for slaying centaurs, regardless of whether you did that in 2 weeks or 2 months or 8 months.
Should this take away from my longevity? No. My company gives out rewards for years worked at certain milestones. They also give more vacation at certain milestones. I would not expect that someone who has only been there 2 years would have the same rewards or vacation time given that I have. However, the newer persons can aslo reach those milestones if they choose to stay.
To me, mixing mastery and longevity is like comparing apples to oranges. The achievement (mastery) points should be capped for mastery type achievements, imo. However, there could be rewards for time played too, whether or not it is tied to the leaderboard. Even if it is tied, it is something that could be accomplished by others if they played long enough, but would not interfere with reaching the cap on daily/monthy.
Personally, I don’t care all that much about PvE leaderboards. It’s too much like, “who’s got the best gear score.” Don’t know; don’t care. But I do think it’s unfair for persons who do care that new persons would be handicapped trying to get higher.

I would like it more if it were a little more specific in the clues. For example, “Gnarls attacked me and stole this item.” Fine, I’ll go look in every gnarl cave I can find in Shiverpeaks! Love to kill me some gnarl.
Just wandering around looking for items lost in the snow is tedious. It leads people to just asking in chat, wait for someone else to find it and announce the location in chat, or looking it up on websites.
And if said clues actually came from the refugees themselves. Go talk to the refugees. Find out what they lost and hear their story.
I agree that the WoW phasing had it’s drawbacks. TESO has said they will have phasing, but that you will be able to choose the phase you want to play in at any time. That would be awesome.
I wish that Orr would phase. Once you complete the personal story up to the point that Treheane cleanses Orr, I wish that Orr would actually get cleansed gradually. There could still be things to do; we could have “hearts” to do instead of the pact events. Would be best to be able to pick the phase though, so if you wanted to help with the pact, you could still go back and do that. That’s my daydream…
I enjoy playing GW2. But, I MISS my mounts. I love looking at them. I love riding them. I love seeing other people riding them. I just miss them. Still, after all these months. I have tried to not miss them, but I do. I even miss seeing mount vendors with all the different colored ponies, birds, camels, whatever, for sale.
I understand on a technical level that I don’t NEED one, as I have waypoints. But on an emotional / enjoyment / immersion level they are dearly missed.
So, yes, I think putting a riding costume in the gem store is throwing it in my face. It is ME doing /facedesk. Colin is probably laughing.
What good is a riding outfit without a crop?
What good is a crop, if there is no mount to use it on…
The pirate costume in beta was cute! The one in the gem store now; for me, not so much. And yes, it is sad that we can only use them out of combat.
Extreme example: In Rift we had weddings, and you could buy a wedding dress. I did. You could use said costume anywhere. I put it on my rouge and took her into PvP battleground. It looked ridiculous! Made me laugh. Ok, I didn’t try that again, but I did often have her display different styles.
I want my characters to wear different looks on different days, or even just different settings on the same day. Different colors are cool! But part of the fun is changing out looks too. I’m all for more choices in or out of the gem store. I am willing to pay for them!
Go outside BlackCitadel to Disseau Plateau. You will find broken road signs to fix. Just follow them. There are no “given” quests. You just go out and start!
PvP: I have 6/6 Superior Rune of the Undead.
PvE: I just slotted 1 Superior Rune of the Undead.
Tooltip now states in both PvP and PvE that I have 7/6 slotted.
It looks like this might just be a tooltip error? I don’t think I’m wasting the one I have slotted in PvE?

This story line is VERY picky. I on purpose have not chosen this path after completing it once. And that once took me three tries.
The first time: The cannons on the risen ship side of the boat did not appear. It is possible that I took too long to clear the slime and plug the holes below. It also took me some time to figure out I could use the shields on the cannons on the shore side to damage the risen ships, so they never got enough damage to sink.
Second time: Had cannons on both sides, got ships sunk. I did not talk to Zott in the water to get him to follow. When I realized he wasn’t following, I went back to get him, and our ship was under attack. There were more slime in the hold. NPCs on the ship were dead. Zott followed, but would not revive Elli.
Third time: Plugged holes, sunk ships, then WAITED for mobs to appear on the SHIP. Cleared all mobs on the ship BEFORE talking to Zott in the water. Zott followed and revived Elli.
PS: You can revive the Warmaster (has a rez symbol), and after Elli, you can revive a couple of others if you have signet with rez skill equipped (necro one for me).

The other player “on the necro’s back” may not have been a threat at the moment. If the necro threw down some marks or wells, the other player may have been crippled, feared, etc. for a few seconds. Giving the necro time to focus on you.
I often ignore a player on my necro when I am focused on a certain objective…break down a door, run to a point, killing someone/something else. Just lay down marks or wells, or sic pet on them to buy me some time.
This seems relevant here as well:
Since this thread is being read ive got some suggestions regarding the solo Q debate.
One of the primary concerns about it , is that it would divide the community. It’s obviously linked to what the OP is talking about here, as funnelling hotjoin players into proper matchs is really important. And for new players like that a solo Q might be very important.
For people to learn the game, and for it to be an esport people have to learn , at least a little, the meta and how the game is really played. Not like what you have with the come and go almost deathmatch experience of hotjoin. That way they will know enough to want to watch what better players are doing.
To wit.
Solo Q , should really be solo or duo. That way its not entirely 1 or 5 only.
And to help out with the ‘wait time’ on real teams quing for ranked matchs, here are some incentives ideas that would be easy on the development time.
1. Unique titles for winning ranked team games. and winning X number of them with certain classes. Somewhat like how we have tourny titles now.
2. A tiny cash prize for ranked team games, like 10 silver a win. That way someone can make gold in spvp. ( why not, this would be trivial compared the money people make in pve, and might drag players into doing team games).
3. As a consideration, consider the 1vs1 tourny implentation with ticket cost and 5 man team requirement? The pops that where happening where still fast. Teams will definately Q.
4. By allowing solo/duo Q, the only groups left out will be groups of 3. As a 4 man group can either, easily grab a fifth from map chat. Or split into two duo teams of 2 till they have more log on.
I myself am not dying for a solo q. But the community is, and these are i think good ways to help it happen that would invovle very little investment of dev time relative to other suggestions.
Solo Q: I would dearly love to be able to go into a pvp match with my hubby. I have played some by myself (was Rank 11), but he usually won’t go with me, as the party won’t hold together most of the time, or we get split onto separate teams.
I have learned a lot from pvp matches, and had fun. I don’t farm glory (obviously), but actually try to help the team. I’ve learned that my necro can beat a thief and a ranger, but I better watch out for that other necro with five pets. Still trying to learn not to panic when a Guardian chains me down. lol.
We have played pvp in other MMOs, and I wish we could return to doing it here in GW2. I don’t even have to work on getting pvp gear! Or that we are both in the same level range! And yet…we don’t play it together.
BTW, I never used hot join. I always pick a map by looking at the list and choosing a map.
I think they hate us. The devs…not the Krait. The Krait have always hated us. Now the devs just have the Krait doing their dirty work for them…killing us.
I have always found the Krait to be one of the hardest mob types to fight. They are mean-spirited things. Not looking forward to that being even worse now.
Hubby and I log in after dinner most every weeknight. Decide which of our five characters each to play. Might depend on who is ready for the next step of personal story. Might depend on where we are going to do the daily. Might not have time to do both story and daily in the 2ish hours we play. Will be glad when we can pick daily tasks.
We are doing the daily (and the monthly for the first time) because we need karma like crazy to buy level 80 gear. Only 1 character each so far in 80 exotic, although I crafted some exotic for another character, but it’s not complete yet.
We just started doing dungeons, so no dungeon tokens yet. But if we like them well enough, might do some (excluding FoTM) on the weekends for dungeon gear.
We gather/mine as much as possible because of crafting. Only sell lvl 1 mats right now. I use laurels to buy gear to salvage (if I don’t actually need it) to get ecto, and trade laurel for high level mats. Would like to craft more 80 gear. And 80 exotic jewelry someday! Buy a few yellow rares on TP each day (if price is good) to salvage for ecto. I have only ever gotten two rare drops for lvl 80. Both were rings, so I could use them both.
We do most dynamic events when we run across them, but if we are on a mission (must…reach…story…waypoint…) we’ll pass them by. Sometimes we try jumping puzzles. Do Champions/World bosses for the challenge sometimes, but not for the drops. We play anywhere from Queensdale to Orr, but pretty much consider Lion’s Arch as home base now.
If I am playing alone, I’ll do sPvP with my Necro (rank 11). One in a great while WvW.
Although the devs have said dueling is on the list, it is a low priority. I would pay money to get dueling implemented! And not because I want to duel for rank or even fun, although I have done duels for fun in other MMOs.
I want to duel to learn more about my skills and utilities, how they are countered, and how I can counter other professions. I can’t learn this against a practice dummy. And I can’t learn it well in sPvP, because I don’t get to engage in much 1v1, and I only use my Necro in sPvP.
The devs keep saying “learn to play.” I would love to. Give me dueling and I’ll be happy to study how to play better.
I will say I learned a ton with my 80 Guardian last week soloing the ghosts in AC. Basically, I was dueling against different ghost classes. lol. They weren’t stong enough to kill me quickly, and I wasn’t strong to kill them quickly, so the fights lasted long enough for me to practice different strategies against them.
I was excited at first about the practice NPCs they put up in The Mist, but I didn’t find them overly useful after trying them.
Was ready to do Arah story last night for the first time! Lucked out that the waypoint was open when I logged in. But couldn’t get a group on Tarnished Coast, because everyone said it was getting stuck. I agreed that it was not a good idea to try. Sigh…
Hubby and I are looking for a Guild on Tarnished Coast. Our mains are Warrior/Guardian. Both turned 80 with Power/Toughness/Vitality Exotic equipped. Looking to start doing dungeons (have not done any yet). Also interested in the upcoming Guild Missions. And of course, events/dungeon in Orr.
We play evenings, East Coast time, from 7:30 – 8ish to 10 pm. Weekends anytime.
We would also do a little WvW, but not our main focus right now. I do some sPvP with my Necro. We both have 4 alts, so still doing PvE and personal story with them. Happy to help others as well.
The only other Guild we belong to is our own (just us).
Another player and I got been stuck “in combat” in Orr, when no mob was apparent. I wanted to go to a waypoint, but couldn’t because “we were in combat”. We tried doing an emote (/sit) and it worked! It took us out of combat, one at a time, as we each “sat down.”
Not sure that kind of thing would work in a dungeon, but might be worth a try.
As far as using a waypoint upon death, I have seen it done where you could use the nearest “waypoint”/rez spot, go get repaired, switch weapons, whatever you wanted to do, but you could not return to the dungeon until the group was out of combat. Since waypoints are in dungeons here, I think the timer idea makes sense, especially if you die out of reach of other players. I have been known to fall through holes in a floor or not be able to cross a chain. Not sure if my character died from the fall or from embarassament. lol
Eir for female. I am female, and she was my wallpaper all through beta.
As for the guys, what girl wouldn’t join the Order of Whispers after having Agent Ihan whisper to you…
It also does not stop conditions from being put on you. So condition removal is still important.
This, my friends, is an epic World Event.
loneknight: Thanks for the “Grinch” twist. Awesome.
Stonghold of Ebonhawke, Eve of Wintersday
Captain Samuelsson approaches the Desert Gate and orders it open. The guards are surprised, as they have not been asked to open the gate for years.
They are even more astonished when an Order of Whispers Agent suddenly materializes, and releases an army of tiny Toy Soldiers.
The Toy Soldiers march silently through the gate, and Captain Samuelsson orders it closed behind them…
My husband and I have been fighting the grouping/party battle since beta as well. I understand that you don’t “need” a group to get credit for kills etc. But that does not negate the fact that people “want” to group.
I would like to see my being able to party and have that hold, no matter what we decide to do. I don’t so much mind the holiday stuff, except for Toycop, which I won’t do without us in party together. But it woud be MORE FUN to do the Snowball in party.
I would like for groups to be able to do sPvP without workarounds. And in PvE and WvW, to be able to merge my group with a bigger one, and unmerge it again when finished. It’s much easier to adjust what you are doing to help the group if you can see their Name, Level, and dot on the map. This is done in other games; just doesn’t seem to be a priority here. Or the technology is not in place, but that has not been said, I don’t think.
Like the OP, we stick to PvE due to the non-grouping in sPvP. I do sPvP on own, but hubby doesn’t play it at all for now.
It’s better than it was in beta as far a PvE. But it’s STILL an issue for us.

Nicely done, Indeed! Congratulations!
Report to Steward Gixx, Durmand Priory
As you requested, Sir, Magister Sieran and I investigated the airship belonging to Tixx to determine the type of magick being used in the manufacture of the Wintersday toys. We made some rather alarming discoveries.
The engines used to run the manufactory leak oil at an alarming rate. Magister Sieran found this to be especially troubling as the effect it could have on the environment of Tyria.
There are Skritt running about everywhere, and many of them seem intent on stealing, and several of them were hostile toward us. We are not sure how they came to be aboard the vessel, but most likely they have found an Azuran portal. Possibly watching for how the krewe board and disembark, and taking advantage of times the portal is open.
As for the magick being used, we could not determine the source or type of magick, but it appears to used somewhat haphazardly and without caution. During our visit, the Princess Dolls, Plush Griffins, Toy Soldier, well in fact all manner of the toys turned hostile and either attacked each other, or us!
Finally, a mighty golem went haywire, and started rampaging about. We were forced to inactivate it before it destroyed the ship and caused the whole thing to come crashing down out of the sky!
In conclusion, it appears that the manufactory is being run in an unsafe manner, the magick being used is unstable, and there does not appear to be any oversite of the operation by Mr. Tixx whatsoever.
Please let me know if I can be of any further service in this manner (as long as it does not involve those horrid dolls!).

There is a separate NPC for each of the other 3 activities; Snowball PvP game, musical bell game, and the jumping puzzle. They are in Lion’s Arch around the Mystic Forge. Each one is standing on top of a barrel, and there is a symbol of some sort over their head. Have fun!
I did not play GW1, except to check it out for week while doing beta for GW2, just to check it out. However, I did play WoW over 3 years, and Rift for about a year.
I applaud GW2 for making no grind to play sPvP. That was a big draw, but now I’m waiting for the balancing, traits, and all the other Pvp issues to be fine tuned. Plenty of work there yet to done, which has been acknowledged. (Not going to talk about the whole Ascended/Agony thing, as I have done that enough.)
What I miss the most is being able to get “things” as a casual player. I want to get titles. I got a title during the Halloween event, but I can’t display it. IT’S IMPORTANT. I did one of the legendary quests in Rift with two characters, which rewards a crocodile mount. I don’t even like the crocodile mount. BUT, I did like the feeling of acheivement in working through the quests and getting (finally!) done, and having the Title. I need to be able to display them!!!
I want to earn or make pretty/suitable clothes. I have gotten some cultural, some order, some personal quest. I’ve made some. But Town Clothes are not wardrobe. I could use more choices.
What matters to the casual player is different that what matters to the hard core. I need a Mace for my guardian that looks like it belongs on a female model. I need a shield that doesn’t clip my hair and looks like it belongs on a female model. And I don’t want my character to look like she’s standing on a street corner trying to earn money if she is just standing on a street corner.
I will do hard activities, or spend karma, or in-game coin for a mini-pet or mount or SOMETHING besides gear with more stats. But, that being said, what is required for things like Legendary weapons is purely grind for a casual player. Maybe I would have worked on it, maybe not. I hate the MF anyways.
Did I spend RL money in the gem store. Yes, a lot. But I won’t for now, until the game shows it is serious about keeping the casual player and giving me achievements I care about, and can actually achieve and have something to show for it.
I think that a high number of mats being required for some items is due to wanting make the process take more time to complete. I get that.
But I wonder why the mechanic of cooldowns is not used instead? Having certain professions being able to transmute or create high level mats on a cooldown seems to accomplish the “take more time” goal.
And it gives the professions a boost, in that one can make some money by selling the items. Actually, I would prefer just making the item for someone if they have the mats and just getting a tip. But with no person-to-person trading system, that won’t work here.
But if you do craft, you can just make the item for yourself, but only one per week, for example. And surely guilds have crafters of every variety?
You don’t see the mini pets trailing behind very often because they disappear whenever you go through a portal! So it is a hassle constantly bringing them back out.
Also, they are account bound, but you don’t get one for each account. You only get one. So you either keep it in the collection page and forget about it, or you put it in one characters bag, and the others don’t get to use it. In other games I have played, account bound meant all my characters got it.
I agree; I see no reason to get more at this point.
There is a zone in Rift that spawned Rifts of an elite level that dropped lots of mats that everyone needed. You could not take on these rifts with only 1 or 2 people, and since they were elites, usually even 5 was not enough.
The community solution was to form farming parties. You would see it come in guild chat or world chat that a party was forming in ****, whatever the name of the place was. So it worked out pretty well. You could be sure that if you spent even just an hour there, you would get lots of mats. Usually there would be about 20 people show up, but sometimes more.
Does GW2 have a general/world chat? Map chat might not be good enough, unless you wanted to portal around to different maps and announce it.
Just FYI. Transmutation stones only work on the same types of armor. Light to Light. Medium to Medium. You can’t transmute a Heavy armor look onto Light armor.
Maybe it was stupidity on their part like you suggested. Perhaps it was just office politics. Like you said, its over. It’s time to either accept it or leave. However, Tachenon was right. Claiming that they didn’t stray from their manifesto and break their promises is another slap in the face. It happened. (a two year old could figure that out.)
No.
The strayed from YOUR interpretation of THEIR manifesto.
That is a big difference people don’t seem quite to be getting.
It wasn’t just his interpretation. It was the interpretation of many people. The evidence of that is on display here on the forums and by the questions asked in the AMA. What is worse, Anet was apparently aware of this (mis?)interpretation and let it propagate. Why else would they have anticipated a backlash?
The Manifesto was only the start of the Blogs that Anet did. This one by Colin Johanson specifically talks about gear progression.
Is it Fun? Colin Johanson on How ArenaNet Measures Success
By Colin Johanson June 19th, 2012
It’s easy to tell if a subscription-based game is hitting its metric of success, you simply look at the number of subscriptions; fun is much harder to define. To accomplish this, we’ve had to fundamentally redefine our development process of content in Guild Wars 2 around this concept of fun, and it starts with asking a very simple question that surprisingly isn’t asked that often in game development: “Are you having fun?”
This metric of success impacted a lot of our early content-related design decisions for Guild Wars 2. Some examples include:
•Fun impacts loot collection. The rarest items in the game are not more powerful than other items, so you don’t need them to be the best. The rarest items have unique looks to help your character feel that sense of accomplishment, but it’s not required to play the game. We don’t need to make mandatory gear treadmills, we make all of it optional, so those who find it fun to chase this prestigious gear can do so, but those who don’t are just as powerful and get to have fun too.
•Fun impacts decisions. Every time you finish a dungeon you get tokens you can trade in for reward items that you want, rather than having a small chance of getting it as a drop, because it’s more fun to always get rewarded for finishing with something you want to have!
Now, would someone like to tell me how I misinterpreted that to mean something other than no vertical gear progression? Would someone like to explain to me how vertical gear progression was always a part of the plan? I read everything that came out from Anet prior to purchase, including this. It’s still on the Blog site.
There is nothing to justify a second chance. They haven’t recanted their motive to move forward with the gear treadmill.
Their motive appears to be to ‘make everyone happy.’ But I don’t see how that’s possible.
I do appreciate Anet taking the time to open up the AMA. I found it interesting that more than once it was stated that “with the support of the community, we can accomplish…”.
Since the community is fractured at this point, not sure which community is meant. And if “support” means buying gems with RL money, then, no.
I have already put enough RL money in gems to pay for another 3 months of subscription in comparison. I won’t put any more money in the game until I see if they can straighten out the current mess they’ve made, and starting making improvements.

I have five characters. I level them through the map, events, personal story, and I do try to fit in the daily achievement for the karma.
Crafting will level you quite nicely, if you have the mats or money to put into it.
I also do some sPvP, but that does not level you. Have done a little WvWvW, and that does give experience.
I’d sacrifice all existing in-game assets, including existing characters and their names, to see an announcment that Ascended gear and ALL legendaries “in the works” were being scrapped.
It’s a bit drastic, but in thinking about it, I wouldn’t be against it either. Let’s go back to beta and try again!
