Are you aware you can complete your daily within 15 min or less in pvp?
There are those of us who do NOT want to do PvP.-
then it is only those people’s choice to limit their options
there is 12 dailies total and you need to do only 3 of them, if you narrow your options only to one tab (no matter which) you have no right to complain because you CHOSE not to participate or try other things
Meaningful choice is only choice among options I want to do – and IMO PvP/WvW and PvE are different to a degree that one shouldn’t assume if you like the one you’ll like the other as well.
It would be equally silly to claim I haven’t the right to complain about the current status of a profession because there are seven others I can choose from.
It’s a game, it’s supposed to be fun for the player – and if ANet decides SD should be a location for a Daily event and then you get there and see people venting their frustration in map chat (and honestly, in my experience that only happens in SD but reliably every time) then they should fix it, otherwise their game has failed its purpose in that instance.
absolutely not, you bought the game with pve, pvp and wvw in one box, if you don’t want to participate in any of those it is only your choice, yet the choice is still there; and even within pve dailies you have 4 options so you can complete another one if you want to stay “pure”
and again – they should make it region specific, we had this before and ppl were cool with it
Are you aware you can complete your daily within 15 min or less in pvp?

You are incorrect. The right to complain is gated by ownership of an account, not by some arbitrary requirement that you come up with.
For those who prefer PvP or WvW, the daily 10 AP became a process in which they do not have to leave their preferred game mode to complete. This is very much a positive change. For those who prefer PvE, the opposite is sometimes true. And why? Because ANet cannot make those modes appeal to such players any other way? Why should a system favor the exclusionary preferences of two demographics while a third demographic gets told not to be exclusionary? Is that because you prefer PvP or WvW?
However, this thread is about 1/4th of the PvE dailies, the events. Are you really defending this task? Is this really good, engaging game-play? Or did ANet turn the PvE dailies from an organic reward to the kind of dull, boring task that dailies are in that other game while turning low level events into something that bears no resemblance to anything fun beyond just finishing the task.
The level of acceptance of current daillies is individually dependend so you can’t mathematically prove that dailies 1-3 are “natural way of gameplay” while others are not because everyone plays different.
And my point stands. Just because some ppl refuse to try/complete other dailies doesn’t mean those options are not there. This is self limiting choice those ppl did and it’s their fault. WvW, PvP, PvE, dungeons/fractals – those are all parts of the same game and those players can explore them equally. They chose not to. Why should anyone care?
However I agree that map specific dailies should be region specific.

LIKE WE HAD BEFORE
reinventing the wheel ever 12-15 months is hurting this game a lot
I have a better idea. Make all dungeon armors upgradable to ascended level through mystic forge or crafting with new visual effects on them.
Nobody chooses a trait line for the minors though.. least not to my knowledge
they have always seemed like bonus traits to me.. a little something extra to enjoy..
its the major traits people care about
Do some research mate.
I always walk by dead ppl in this game, why should I waste my time for them. That being said experience is not the factor pushing ppl to res each other.
No SAB anymore, but i’m still stacking 6stack of baubles, and assume its rather low stacking compared to some player
And they have to make SAB back one day … and probably make it permanant.
I have 3 baubles. And my fiance has 0. That’s low.
It’s a currency, thats why.
It’s not a currency if you can’t buy anything with it.
This topic will be useful only if they announce return of SAB. Probably never.
Why do you need wallet for baubles? There is no SAB anymore.
There is an expansion in the work, who knows how much armor it will bring to the table
Check how many armor sets they gave us as in game rewards for 3 years.
Now I’m prepared to be disappointed.
My endgame is waiting for content. My whole guild stopped playing in last 2 months. This is depressing.
It’s awful.
It’s outfit.
No money.
Would be nice to see a red post about this whip.
I bought it and I feel cheated. It’s nowhere near the picture.
I wish a fix for this skin.
while this post sounds good at first glance, when you think about how much content we got last 3 years and how many armors were added at this time this is very depressing news for us
To put it into another perspective, single player games range from $50-60 and usually yield 30-60 hours worth of gameplay. GW2 being $50 initially with no other costs, means after 30-60 hours the initial cost of the game is irrelevant.
I detest this argument, and want to throw up every time I see it.
According to this, F2P games are the best thing ever, and can only be beaten by if you are a QA tester, and you even get paid for playing. Right….
If you really want to measure the “worth” of a game, please insert stuff like “level of enjoyment”, “saturation”, “personal gain” etc..
As much as you may detest the argument, it doesn’t take away from the fact that B2P revenue stream is primarily based off of Cash shop and not initial purchase, in the way F2Ps are. If not then Anet might as well made a SP game and avoided paying server costs and devs. The measure is cost comparison, since saturation and enjoyment are subjective.
worked for gw1 so could have worked for gw2 possible, we will never know
your opinion about b2p and f2p comparison has nothing to do with the case – this game is b2p and saying otherwise is a plain lie
for a b2p game I would expect less cash shop focus and more content focus – especially paid content; I am not surprised with the OP. The gem store focus is out of proportion for last months. We know they’re working on expansion however some people are not happy with gem store focus and the amount of content added to gem store was bigger than real, meaningful content to play.
And no, living story 2 is not content but just a personal story extension with no real gameplay into it.
So please take into consideration people want to pay for content, not just skins and even worse – outfits.
I’m playing mostly PvE and some sPvP. I find engineer to be the most fun and guardian to be the most efficient. I was maining mesmer originally but this profession is subpar in everything to guardian which makes me wonder why to almost exact profession exist where one is definately just a poor brother of another.
while i do dislike outfits u have no right to bash them for releasing too many cosmetic overrides, this is free to play, u know what u signed up for. and ur like 2 months away frm an expansion or something arnt u? they are not going to make new content before HOT comes out
this is not f2p game
kkthxbye
About money – who’s gonna pay me for beta testing their game? kitten , every time I report a bug I should be paid for doing their job. And I am totally serious at this point. You defend their rights to be paid so what about me?
And stronghold beta was made 24h and I saw no dev asking on forums for donations.
Stop treating this company like a child. They are paid with our money for keeping us entertained.
During one of the interviews after hot-hype ceremony Colin stated they’re not working on build templates and we will not see them with HoT release.
So yeah, keep your expectations low.
I think the biggest problem with many of the names suggested are that they are too defensive. The plot right now is about going to get Mordremoth where he lives and the spec is supposed to give guardians a more offensive option. Can we think of anything more aggressively named while honoring the rangery feel of the spec? I don’t think Dragonhunter is too bad but maybe Dragonslayer, Dragonbane, or Dragoon? Executioner, Scourge, or Wrath sound cool but might be a little too dark for a guardian. Banisher?
Zealot? Avenger?
Warden
Warden is already taken by a race in Cantha, they probably wanted to avoid that association.
Grove police is called Wardens. How does it connect to Cantha, mister?
As someone who mains a Guard (two of them actually), gotta say I’m pretty underwhelmed at this. I may have to retire Guardian as my main. I have zero interest in traps. If I wanted to place traps I would play a ranger or thief type character as that would be appropriate. But traps as main utility for a plate wearing holy warrior? What?
Sucks that the class I love most will have a specialization making it basically a class I love least. If they were looking to do a complete 180 on the class, they certainly succeeded.
You are aware that you are in no way or form required to use the Elite Specialization, right? You can still keep playing the Guardian as it is now.
I guess people aware enough to post here know this fact. However when I’m going to buy an expansion I expect something new for my profession. In this case I see a legit reason why many guardians can feel bad, me included. And I strongly believe there are people that want expac only for specs which is a sellpoint to them (for me the sellpoint is revenant).
Liked Sentinel and Warden so far. And Seraph makes sense with the wing and bow things.
Maybe the hate that Dragonhunter is getting is partially because, like, there are no real dragons to fight in this game and people do not really care about dragons? The dragons (and their champions) in GW2 are some unseen giant chunks of plants, iceblobs and crystals (AFKing while being zerged), and not some real threats from flesh and blood that people can perceive as real threats worth hating and fighting against.
For me the most problem is that dragons have 0 personality and I actually don’t care in the least about them. This being said dragonhunter makes no sense for guardian which is a profession based on team support and defense or zealot burning agression, not about traps or tracking. I don’t mind bow but the name… I mean it hurts me physically.
I think most will agree with me that the name Dragonhunter kind of sucks. Let’s throw some ideas for a better name at ANet and hope they’ll consider changing it.
I think most of the vocal minority would agree. The majority of people couldn’t care less. I for one love it
Even if majority is silent you have no instruments to prove your statement. In this case, even if only a minority is vocal it’s like election – lazy people don’t go voting so who cares about their opinions? Here it’s the same, those who choose not to take part in discusscussion won’t be heard, therefore you can’t cater to opinion that is not voiced. It’s their loss.
Ontopic about names: Herald, Valiant, Warden, Warder (with traps changed to wards with unique mechanics), Protector, Watcher, Sentinel, Zealot, Justicar.
My NO to: paladins, (arch)angels, healbows, bards or cupids
I think this topic should be merged with other already existing topics about the matter.
Zealot, Herald, Warden, Legolas… so many better names than… this.
I’d like to know who is personally responsible for choosing this name.
Necro will get weapon buffing, ritualist style. Why? Because Belinda.
I’m still shocked at how upset people get over a name and appearances. It’s like being mad that you get a red car for a present and you wanted a blue car instead. Its a free car?!?! Who cares what color it is?
The name has no impact on how the class works and plays….form before function for some I guess?
Both yes and no. The game is not only about optimal mechanics but also about immersion, fancy graphics, magnificent music, roleplaying etc. Then you get such a silly spec as dragonhunter I am not surprised there’s a roar. This spec feels totally disconnected (with its theme) from original guardian as it can be. Again, warrior or ranger as dragon hunter feel okay, but guardian? seriously?
Both dragonbane and dragonhunter (or every other lizardslayer) are good candidates for titles, not for specs. I’m facepalming for 2 hours now, my face hurts.
I get the idea that Paragons are tight to Elona. However dragonhunter is so cliche I’ve never expected to see such a name in GW2. Herald, Warden, come on, there are infinite better ideas than this.
I guess we are just called Heroes?
According to LS2 we’re only “the Boss”
How does Guardian DPS with 20%+ extra damage compare to a staff Ele though? Mace2->WW->Leap->Binding ->SoW vs Eruption->Glyph->Lavafont->Meteor (or even… Hammer1->Hammer1->Hammer1->Hammer1…)
I figure at worst its’ a small dps loss for a HUGE defensive gain, so maybe just a casual run setup, not ideal, but stupid easy and nearly as good.
Maybe Guard dps will be close to Ele though I can’t see Guard > Ele. Also nice that another class will be braindead ( if the meta will be hammer 1).
Nah, if you take the honor line you can have pretty much constant light fields with GS+ mace so I don’t see hammer happening for max dps (at least I hope not).
Wait, did I miss something? Since when are light fields good for DPS?
Is this a new trait or something?
I think he talks about new trait granting guardian a dps buff when in symbol
Why specify Warrior as Warrior when every one of our characters are warriors?
Keep your logic to yourself!
Don’t get baited by lordkrall. Just calmly ignore and report.
ontopic: I find this spec name so random. It doesn’t fit guardian, it’s so cliche… just come on! You can do better anet. I hope.
This spec feels so random. I mean what does the guardian have to do with hunting. It’s a guardian, a knight, a protector, not a ranger with shiny arrows. And those wings. They connect to actually nothing with the current state of the profession. Seriously I’m disppointed.
Game is for a year now in mega server mode in PvE which is nice worlds substitute for server merging. This means people from every server are all together in PvE maps so if you don’t play WvW changing servers is pointless.
Whats the problem with a physical note pad and a pen to write down your build specs and have close at hand? kitten todays people are so lazy
Feature was already in first game so it’s logic to demand same feature in this game. Especially when you can change builds between fights.
I really like the sounds of this specialization, but it does raise one question in my mind. With the benefits of the elite spec being so strong, will anyone ever create a build without it? Of course when other elite specs come along that might change, but it seems too strong to only use core specs. But maybe that’s the plan?
Of course it’s a plan. Base professions are being toned down to make specs look OP so people will be more happy to buy an expansion. And after a year we will see massive nerfs and the outcry will be delicious. I dunno how anyone can expect anything better from any company on the market.
nah, the old profs will still be probably the same power level wise, they will just be a lot more boring
However the usefulnes of some professions has nothing to do with power level but with execution and ease of use of similar features between them. This is why I feel like specs will be a must-go solution for everybody. And I’m not giving anet any benefit of the doubt, after last 3 years they succesfuly burnt all my hype.
#yawn
seriously it looks as boring as normal mesmer
I am almost certain this professions finally reaches necro tier of being useless as other professions will get much more important specs
There will always be problems with people. You need to answer the question if it is better to prevent progress loss for party leader or to pretend that people are honest and are not abusing the current Looking For Griefers.
Build saving is more a case for PvP especially that they’re introducing “new” “game” “mode” into the same queue that other “game” “modes” are running which makes it ridiculous to change whole build during preparation phase (especially that you have no idea which mode you’re going to play). PvE can be played with no build so who cares.
The problem is we are not going to get build templates with HoT which from my point of view is a crime against logic and common sense. It was a basic feature of GW1 and we can’t have it in GW2 after 3 years.
After 3 years of no content I’d welcome a fast released expansion.
On the other hand I don’t like trait changes, outfits and obnoxious bugs that are popping up from nowhere or returning (inventory bug) so I’m not going to buy it most probably.
Creating attacks which make your skills useles is dumb in the very core of the idea.
Why do we have 10-skill bar, when some bosses just ignore our skills?
This is why more and more dungeons become just mashing dps instead of thinking.
The autowin is given only when you use Volunteer button before autobalance.
Did pvp daily winner today and got my reward from autobalance
As I stated before, I’ve never chosen my traits looking at stats but only at trait effects.
Well since you’re not everyone I don’t really see your point. I was talking about general usage of traits. And my example came from my own experience traiting for my thief. So in my case this change is going to give me a lot more diversity in PvP that my little thief didn’t have before.
You can’t inspect any player in game so you have no idea which traits are used and which don’t either.
Lol is this some sort of endless loop? “You can’t know” is my entire point. Everyone needs to save their complaints until they have enough info to know what they’lre complaining about.
And thanks to communicating with other human beings, which doesn’t require the ingame UI, I actually CAN have an idea about what traits people are generally using and how they are using them. Communication ftw.
In the same manner I can generally have an idea of what’s going to change after reading the blog post. See?
Elementalist is strong itself, there is a difference between overpowered and strong my friend. Elementalist is an excellent class with or without Cele.
Yup; It’s other subpar professions that should be buffed to elementalist level of performance, not the other way around
As I stated before, I’ve never chosen my traits looking at stats but only at trait effects.

Please don’t forget some skips are intended.
E.G. cof p1 bridge or AC p1 a tunnel after second scepter collection
Those places are designed as “trap rooms” with mobs to run past them, the true encounters are bosses. The worst things in dungeons are time gated events, like ac burrows or grenth at arah p4. Skipping is a challenge of it’s own kind.
The new system is MUCH different from the current system and we haven’t gotten a chance to feel it out and see how it will end up.
All the OP’s examples are centered around the way the current system and traits work, but the new systems function and trait details are getting totally overhauled.
You can’t make a valid arguement against apples by complaining about oranges.
No, you are wrong mister.
The new system is totally based on current system. There is a change, some tweaks and merges but this is still trait system of 5 lines with multiple traits. The difference is at the end the range of choice is going to be much lower. The big factor is the separation of attributes from trait lines. This alone will give diversity a huge boost and will completely change up trait usage.
With the current system, you have to balance what traits you want with what attribute bonuses you also need to make your build viable. With the new system the choices are separate. Meaning, for instance, a thief who wants to spec for high critical hit won’t have to choose to use the traits that are currently in the precision line and can instead choose freely from all the other options without messing with their critical hit %.
As I stated before, I’ve never chosen my traits looking at stats but only at trait effects.
Dear Arenanet, We’ve been playing the hundred some hours of end-game content you provided us for thousands upon thousands of hours. We understand our builds better than you do, don’t treat us like children and take away our options because they might be ‘too confusing for us’
+1
