Vote for the Profession Collaborative Development
1. Ranger
I don’t have a strong opinion on the other professions as I mostly play my Guardian now and don’t have any complaints there. Ranger needs a whole lot of TLC though that goes far beyond the pet AI. We offer little team support in PVE unless we go melee, select from the 3 or so pets that buff allies, and/or run a build that uses Spotter and Frost Spirit. It’s not just the profession that needs retooling, but the concept of ranged fighting and whether that can be made to enhance a team instead of being viewed as a liability.

1) Elementalist – survibility vs damage is terrible
2) Ranger – unless they spec gs/condition spec theyre just thief/warrior fodder.
3) Necros – They need more mobility skills.
(warriors need toning down…)

1. Necro
So many bugs. Few viable builds. Just terribad in PVE. pretty bad trait lines.
2. Ranger
So bad in W3 it is literally mocked
3. engi/thief: Basically all the medium armor classes just don’t have the utility for good team play.
1. Engineer
2. Elementalist
3. Thief
Which need help? Well from a WvW perspective.
1.) Elementalist (Overnerfed.)
2.) Ranger (Only one viable spec)
3.) Guardian (Can’t roam well, disadvantaged in every 1v1)
I don’t know why necromancers are asking for help.. They’re the strongest 1v1 class right now, they have tons of utility in a Zerg, in a skill group. I’d say necros are more than fine..
Engineers are also in good shape. If these two classes get any buffs, they should be accompanied by nerfs as well.

1) Rangers- Their trait lines are messed up big time
2) Necro- Need a raw power boost
3) Ele- You nerfed them into the ground

(I have never really played ranger, otherwise I suspect it might have made my list)
1. Necromancer
2. Ranger
3. Engineer
Need buffs in all aspects of the game:
1. Thief
2. Ranger
3. Elementalist
Needs nerfs in all aspects of the game:
1. Warrior
2. Guardian
3. Mesmer
1.) Ranger (Could use some rework and something it brings to the table for both PVE and PvP.)
2.) Engineer (Could use a bit of help in PVE. I rarely see an engineer here)
3.) Elementalist (I personally don’t own an elementalist character…however from everything I heard outside of conjured weapons abuse there lacking in definition in PVE)
1. Mesmer only because we have the most bugs of any profession. Many of the bugs have existed since game launch. Over 3/4 of the bugs impact our dps.
FIX the bugs. I do not care about rework, I only would like to have a profession that isn’t so crippled by the bugs.
These suggestions are purely from a PvE standpoint:
1. Ranger: I find that the traits for Rangers are in such a bad spot, a huge rework is needed in my opinion.
2. Necromancer: Necromancers are severely lacking in straight up damage. They excel in conditions, but are quite sub par at raw power.
3. Engineer: I find PvE wise Engineers are quite lacking other than running bomb kit and grenade kit. They feel very lacking in that aspect.
srsly? u gotta ask?^^
1. RANGER!

3. I dont care^^ just work on ranger and i am happy(((o(???)o)))

Edit: Changed 3) from warrior to necromancer, after seeing that we are asked to list classes that need buffs.
(edited by Ignavia.7420)
1. Elementalist – Weak in roaming, weak in pvp, strong in zergs.
2. Warrior – Too strong in every part of the game, needs some drawbacks.
3. Ranger – Everything a Ranger does, another profession does better.
Gunnar’s Hold
mesmer bugs are terrible and cripple every build. too much ai.ai is buggy and we are an ai class now after all the nerfs. so at least fix the bugs or rework the entire class and make us a REAL light armor class that has aoe that is not ai dependent.1. Mesmer only because we have the most bugs of any profession. Many of the bugs have existed since game launch. Over 3/4 of the bugs impact our dps.

If this is about making it better (aka stronger?) then:
1. Ranger (needs more support, other than spirits!)
2. Engineer (tooltips! so many lying tooltips! we need consistency.)
3. Elementalist (PvP) [or Necromancer (PvE)… hard choice but I main an Ele, so I’m biased towards that]
Warrior goes on the list to be weakened. And it’s at the top there.

1. Guardians – not really balance per se but remake and refining of a lot traits and trait-lines, they range from “why would I ever take this” to “eh, I’ll take it because there’s nothing else better to take.”
2. Warrior – not enough sacrifice for builds. Also why doesn’t adrenaline bar empty when you miss?
3. Ranger – needs less dependency on pet AI,

2. Elementalist

1 rangers needs work done
2 fix bugs in the necro (it’s skills for the most part are fine)
3 warrior could use some improvements to some skills. (warrior shouldn’t be a major issue but idk of a third one good one at least so to fill it up place holder)
final thrust is poor requires a lot for it to work and with too little reward. hits as hard as eviscerate if your opponent is at half hp but is MUCH harder to land due to the cast time and animations and range i’ts a horrible skill atm.
by comparision ele has fire grab which hits much harder and is a lot easier to land and easier to burn someone then to get them to half health.
that’s just one example.

1. Necromancer
Cripplingly weak by comparison to other classes in PvE, and overpowering in condition spam in PvP. The Necromancer also suffers from being pigeonholed into builds because all others are ineffective, has an overabundance of blatantly worthless traits, and entire traitlines that are unbalanced so far as to be completely useless. Furthermore, the back-and-forth balancing being done to handle Dhuumfire is only hurting the class as a whole more and more the longer it goes on.
2. Elementalist
Very diverse and effective in PvE, but lacks real options in PvP formats. I think this could use a bit of work, and a few otherwise totally silly utility skills could use some complete revamps. I think this is a strong candidate for a major rebalancing, just not as much as the Necromancer currently.
3. Ranger
Pet AI is abysmal and has been a problem since forever. As far as balancing, I think spirits take the Ranger’s playstyle in bad directions and reinforce passive play with less action, whereas they could do so much more. I also think that there are an abundance of very ineffective weapon sets on the Ranger that need work for all formats, and pets in general need a major rebalancing to really justify their inclusion as a means of class architecture in any format. These are a good candidate for a major rebalancing as well.
1) Ranger
2) Necromancer
3) Engineer
all of them need more group utility and power-based dmg buffs.

Alot of stuff that i think can be done, and mostly all of the other players have said it, like grandmaster traiting, AI for pets, and i miss the ability for pets to ’’evolve’’ like in Guildwars. but that’s ahole other story.
But what i really want to is getting out of the dirt, i love my ranger but i am tired of getting called stuff/kicked from groups/getting told to reroll my main cuz ranger aint worth anything to most classes (pve) we are looked down upon, and it actually makes me sad. And don’t get me started on wvw, i don’t play it since rangers don’t like thiefs ^^
Something that hasen’t come up is that i think a boost to condi fields would do good. The SB nerf was a low blow to me, as a condi ranger. I really hope to see some nice changes in the future.

Something needs to change about the AI. The pet positioning itself behind the mob was a good start and the toughness boost certainly helps, but as it is now, there’s little synchronicity between the ranger and his/her pet. It’s incredibly frustrating to be in the middle of a fight and you try activating F2 only to get no response – or worse, F2 goes on cooldown without doing anything.
Improvement to trait lines might be a way to get people to use spirits in PvE because as it is right now, that’s an element of the class that has little to no utilization outside of sPvP. (I’m not counting frost spirit which is utilized for the one single build that everyone runs around with.
I watched Isaiah Cartwright’s video on the ranger hoping to see some suggestions on how to best use the class…only to watch the same build that brazil from DnT has made popular.
Another blast finisher would be most welcome. GS Maul could be a possibility.
