I am yes. Not macros, but custom keys. Running shatter mes now and having a LOT more success in WVW roam and group. After dueling last night with a thief that just made me look silly, I feel like stealth is very important = cant hit what you cant see, but also knowing the game…. he knew exactly when to strike because he was monitoring when I used up my dodges + skills
Gosh I’m struggling like crazy to get better with thief. Used to be 0-F1-5-1 = death to squishies. Now I literally cannot beat anyone in a 1v1. My attacks seem to do no damage to anyone and I feel like I get one-shotted by most classes. In fact I think the ele can actually 1-shot me.
This cant be normal? I dont have the best connection, perhaps lag/choppyness causes me to miss my opponent?
Also discovered action camera and thought it might be a good idea. Seemingly it isnt…
Would just appreciate some advice as to which thief builds are most competitive currently in WvW and PvP game modes?
Used to run D/D but I see that no-longer really viable? Why is D/P seemingly so good? I’m familiar only with the powder/heartseeker/backstab combo. What other builds are worthwhile?

I just came back to GW after 3 years trying to find a suitable MMO replacement. You can only image the items I had waiting on the broker! I’ve noticed without HoT my game is severely limited (I do have the paid original however). Is there any speculation on when the price may come down? I would love the deluxe ver. for extra slots + diamonds but the price is crazy. Essentially the price of 3 PC games as one expansion. Good grief. Diamonds vs cost of black lion items are also incredibly expensive. I guess I’m just used to paying for cosmetics only.

Noob question here: Spidy and GWT both list items trending up and items trending down. I unfortunately find no indication of when I should be buying or selling these items from the values given. IE buy now because the price is dropping? Or buy now because the the price is increasing dramatically? I should perhaps add that I never have any of these items at any given time and plan to flip or hold for a while. But I don’t enjoy holding.
well if you read my thread you will see that, via logic, dungeon weapons don’t work. i’m still waiting on an answer on it though. And you can toss in dungeon gs exotics, but i wouldn’t try buying off TP…
Thanks for this (OP)! I made 3.5g in under 2 hours which isn’t bad. I have spent some time with lodes and it really doesn’t seem viable to me… the price of lodes fluctuates madly and by the time you’ve made yours it is often selling at 1g less than when you viewed it. Also the cost of El wine negates the upgrading of cheaper lodestones, along with munching your skill points. The fees on high price lodes are of course high, so, if you want to make a very risky 8-20s per combine then good for you. In my opinion OPs method was the most successful – I only wish I had gotten to it sooner.
Please stay on topic, my Q had nothing to do with RNG merely the process I am using to attempt a prec and whether or not it is incorrect based on logic. Also I thank you for concern, but like Oreoz ‘sort of’ mentioned I am not just flinging random exotics into the forge willy nilly. Let me give you an example (but not my only source):
Many people are currently running COF and AC for tokens. Which they then use to buy exotics, and toss in the forge. While these weaps have runes, the forge result never does. HOWEVER precursors do in fact have a rune inside (because noone would put a superior rune of air in a prec). SO… what’s the deal?
Ideally I’d like to hear from someone that has received a precursor.
Ok so I’ve started lobbing rares and exotics into the forge in search of a precursor. Iv noticed that every return be it weapon or armor has no sigil/rune inside whereas precursors in fact do. So I’m just wondering if I am perhaps doing something wrong?
Done here as well. Really dissapointed because faptals were reasonably fun and a good way to grab loot. Now its just… horror. Did lv 17 four times before completed on the fifth try. Now at 19 I can’t seem to do it with a pug. Did a 10 daily last night… complete abortion. Swamp, cliffside (um yea…) our gaurdi DC’d and we ACTUALLY passed as a bunch of squishies with brocken armor only to enter grawl… I quit then. For a long long time.

The end of the year will be a busy time for those of us that, you know, have lives. And we would like to plan those lives accordingly. From what I saw wintersday starts on the 14th. I will be leaving for holidays the 17th, so I’m hoping to at least catch some of what is going to be happening. I think many players will be away at this time of year – why not create some vids/pics (rather vids) of the festive goings on? Let us that missed it at least see what went down :-) Personally I would still love to see the king thorn battle and him getting his butt kicked…
Errr ok, I haven’t beat this dude in a party since around 14. Now, at 19, I’m still having nightmares. I’ve scoured the net for help, but there really is no easy way to do this. I survive just fine and do my share of damage (necro) but the squishies always drop when the adds arise and from there its a wipe in 10-100 seconds.
I always used to beat him via nuke and ignore adds but no-one seems to share those sentiments anymore… so we hit adds… and sometimes kill them, sometimes we just die. If we kill them they just respawn again.

Q: Can lodestones be sold, successfully, at lowest sale price (undercut 1c or w/e) rather than instantly to highest offer? I have a few lodestones I think 7 or 8 and I would like to sell at optimum price, but do want to have to re-post expensive items and I thnk perhaps these kinds of items work differently.

I heard it is only recently like that. That they should stop spawning and/or the gap between waves becomes longer. I ventured into SE for the first time last night. Started up P1 with 2 guildies and 2 pugs of which only one kitten pug had done it before…. and wow… just wow anet… the bugs… the horrorrr… 3 and a half hours and probably 1g later w finished. Would have gone smoother with a better group, but still. We will never do it again.
I have what I believe to be a very valid question for those new to the ways of the BLTP. I’ve been fiddling for a few days now – sigils, crafts, ingrediants, forging and so on. Iv made a little bit and lost practically nothing, though I have misplaced around 20g on taking spidy too literally and posting slow moving, high priced weapons at too high a price. While the money isn’t gone, it isn’t actually made yet and may never be due to all the undercuts. I may have to resell and make a loss… due to the substantial listing fee on 5g items. I’m not particularly put out, I’m gaining an absolute WEALTH of information – if that costs me a few G its perfectly understandable. My goal really is learning what I need to make money with minimal cost.
But enough rambling.
My question is this: How does one even begin to identify possible trends for items to increase or decrease in price? I don’t want any of your secrets and such, just a kickstart into the logic of where to start my thought process… The fact that you just dreamt up ‘Oh, well, chocolate and christmas go together… lets buy choc coz ppl will be using it!’ seems a bit odd to me. Hell I can’t speak for others but where I’m from chocolate has nothing to do with Xmas. Easter yes…. Currently I have absolutely no idea if vials of mystic goats cheese are going to go up, or down. If purple smurf berries are currently high – and set to continue upward – or shoot down.

Thanks, you saved me having to make a topic similar on this. I can use skill points in such a fashion that i can make just under 1g for 3 1/2 SP. No I’m not going to tell you what the methods are but suffice to say I’ve spent very little time on it – and believe there are far better ways anyway. I pitch the question: If you can in fact make money off skill points (and other mats ofc) is it cheating to ‘farm’ skill points IE new characters collect a few, then recreate. I wouldn’t want to use SP of any of my ‘real’ characters because they will need a bloodstone shard.
Another question would be: Wasn’t it announced that there would be a minimal chance that these miniatures would drop in the world over the weekend?
Have you heard from people that got their mini that way?
With the occuring bug (obviously it has to be a bug) that loot got worse after the patch, I am wondering if there is anyone out there who just found the mini ingame from an enemy…

Good post mate, you beat me to it. Necro is my main. I was planning on dinging the other characters and then creating a “necros rock and I know better so shuttup” post. I feel you need to put some serious man hours into each char to truly be able to compare effectiveness. nobodies really interested in whether a necro beats a thief at 40 or not. I must confess this weekend I leveled a gaurdian and he is… wow. Can start to understand where people get ‘kitteny necro’ ideas from. Irritates me though coz people playing the gaurdian with pretty much any choice of skills works well and their 7 braincells have discovered virtues should be activated when you’re about to get downed or w/e and suddenly you think you’re a skilled GW vet, its time to rag on other players and classes. Get a necro/ele and player properly
Odd that people are forever moaning the necros suck. I’ve always found him to be just fine (ok not wow) at pretty much everything. My mainly condition-built necro is fine at wvw. He can take on most players 1v1 even 2v1 with his two health bars and some actual skill and quick reflexes. I hardly ever die in wvw and with spec walk you can change that to never. Necro bleed is strong but for goodness sake it’s not his staple skill or anything like that. He’s never going to one shot another player, barring the odd unsuspecting ele, but your thief will never dish out the AOE condition madness he does. And, better yet, he will never be a necromancer ;-D

10% would just make the average joes a few extra bob and the intelligent nobs like me rich. Having recently come into some gold (i play casually) i bought up 1k gems when i believed them to be relatively cheap thinking they would go up with lost shores and, even if they dropped like a rock, id just use the gems to upgr which i had to anyway. I noticed immediately that u couldn’t imediately exchange straight back for the same amount of gold and this made perfect sense.
Gems have now gone up almost 100% from when I bought – and the price i bought them for has only just equalized to that which i am able to sell them. Which MEANS i should soon be able to sell them off for a very small profit (in 2-3 days) unless of course it starts dropping. All of this MEANS you need to be vigilant and rub those two braincells of yours together a little harder to make a profit. Don’t expect to spend 10g. Wait. And make 20g. Be realistic. But you can make a profit.
That also sounds a bit odd, especially if it’s listed say 12 times at different prices.
I sold the items yesterday undercut 2c from the LOWEST SELLER. It sold instantly. As in under 5 min. Now i feel like I lost out and should of put it up for more. Odd there’s no help on this topic. Either nobody wants to share, or everybody is indignant.
thanks for the response. TBH so far I’ve sold all items so far (50s-1.2g) for the lowest sell offer already there. Never heard about undercutting till recently. And they’ve always sold. Sometimes it just takes a few days. So by my reasoning i can offer a more average price…. only if im wrong the listing fee becomes a pain

Hi all. I need advice from someone relitively savvy in the BLTC and, since I haven’t been able to find that someone, I’ve come here.
My Q basically is what to sell the more expensive items for? I have a few exotics worth 2-4 gold (some are 2g some are 3g some are 4g) as the lowest asking fee out there indicates. However they run all the way up into 10+ gold in set selling price as well. So am I dipping out selling at 2g? Will it never sell for 10g? What about 5g? Anyway I’m sure many would like to know how to sell their exotics at top dolla ^^
Sort of related – I have a scepter with a sigil of bloodlust and the sigil is selling for more than the scepter (even the exact scepter and sigil). Should i black lion salvage it and sell the the sigil rather? Maybe even keep it… stacking power on deaths with an AOE character sounds tasty.
