I ask myself the same question when i look at the rewards after a fractal 50 run.
Folks today is April Fools Day and I know its a time to get silly. But I couldn’t help but feel like ANet took things a step too far today. The grainy filter is fine and the old timey music is actually rather charming. What I am of course referring to is the fact that your character runs around pretending they are an airplane. Now normally this wouldn’t be a big deal but I feel like the statement that ANet is making about airplanes is both insensitive and callous. As you know doubt have guessed, I am talking about the lack of jet planes.
You see, your character runs around with their arms stretched at almost perfect 90 degree angles. However, as I am an aviation expert as well as a game designer (and an astronaut) it seems to me that the are only representing biplanes. Clearly, jet planes are being under represented or, dare I say, discriminated against. As an aviation expert who has helped design all jet planes in the world I feel very offended by this. The characters should put their hands at a slight angle behind their back and make sounds similar to BRRRRROOOOOSH and FWHOOOSH in order to simulate the thrusters of a jet plane.
I sincerely hope that ANet will do the right thing by adding jet planes to the game.
Hey there guys!
I decided to have a go at redesigning the Equipment tab on the Hero panel. This is because I think that the current design is a little confusing, and also because I think that there’s other character information that ought to be shown too: such as your Order, your crafting levels, world completion etc.
I’ve attached an image!
As you can see, on the left is your character and equipment slots (all of them), and on the right is a tabbed panel. The tabs are General, Equipment, Wardrobe, and Dyes
I also wrote a pretty lengthly reddit post on r/GuildWars2 going into a lot more detail about it, which you can see here.

Dont you have any sense of humor? Its Anets way to give us a laugh! The ridiculous new player experience was dumbed down to such a level so it can firmly express the level of lack of effort new games require to play!
Good job Anet, we (I) had a great laugh at the NPE changes. I do hope you do have a sense of humor and dont extend your jokes till theyre embarrassing to listen to.
Despite me trying to be positive these past days, this slightly depressed me:

Stomping in DS has not the effect I would’ve liked to see… Foot in the Grave is not worth it now…
Lost? Confused? [TCS] – A guild for every state of body and mind
dude, nobody cares about your post either
I can prove that by a simple thought experiment:
Thesis: Necros are good.
- People say eles are bad.
- Anet buffs eles.
- Ele is good now.
- People say necros are bad.
- Anet doesn’t buff necros.
- Necro must be good already.
Q.E.D.
Shoutout to the Devs and especially Jon ‘5 signets’ Peters who graced us with this wonderfully balanced game.
Its not a proper record as condi is still faster. But I wanted to get a relatively smooth berserker kill before the patch (ignore me tanking a kick like a scrub). Sub 8 minutes is possible but sadly I wont have time before the patch to redo it. Enjoy.
I will probably get round to beating the condi necro record at some point after the patch, although dont hold your breath. Condi necro bores me to death.
See you in linksville! :<

Hi.
I’m a casual player.
Events like Tequatl are completely inaccessible to a person like me.
Since the living story content seems to be following the same design principles (i.e., events that not even an entire server can hope to beat despite trying multiple times), I was wondering if there’s going to be any content that would appeal to players like me in the future, or whether this is all we have to look forward to?
Thanks.
good general ideas destroyed by zero forethought and the worst execution imaginable. poor communication (the quality, not necessarily the quantity). a whole lot of bark, very little bite. what was an extremely promising game at launch has devolved into just the typical bland MMO experience. grind grind farm grind. if you like MMO, there’s a chance you’ll like gw2. if you hate MMOs, avoid gw2 like it’s the plague. neglect of the stable playerbases in favor of throwing all resources at glorified tourism, while having no problem flat out insulting and alienating their most loyal players. a giant list of major bugs and exploits that have been around since the betas. hacks and other forms of cheating going completely unchecked, unless it means a dime less profit for them. it could have been the wave of the future, but if i was on the development team i would be humiliated by the entire past year.
amazingly good art and graphics though.
Cant really ruin necros much more in pve anyway.
Based on " ’Twas the Night Before Christmas" (Necro style)
’Twas the night before Wintersday, when all through the morgue
Not a creature was stirring, not even a warg;
The corpses were packed into the coffins with care,
In hopes that Ol’ Grenth soon would be here;
The minions were nestled all snug in their graves,
Dreaming visions of enemies impaled upon staves;
And mamma in her spikes, and I in my scales,
Had just settled down on our long bed of nails,
When out on the swamp there arose such a clatter,
I lumbered from bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew in a burst,
(just kidding, we’re necros; for speed we’re the worst,)
The moon on the spine of the sickly, dying trees
Was so lovely and pale it made me weak in the knees,
When, what to my slow-focusing eyes should emerge,
But a ghastly hearse, and eight Bone Fiends humming a dirge,
With a dire dark driver, the embodiment of death,
I knew in a moment it must be Ol’ Grenth.
More slowly than slugs his coursers they came,
And he whispered, and rasped, and called them by name;
“Now, Fetid! now, Foul! now, Rotten and Reeking!
On, Pox! on Pestilence! on, Putrid and Stinking!
To the top of the ruins! to the top of the wall!
Now scuttle away! scuttle away! scuttle away all!"
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky,
So up to the crypt-top the coursers they crawled,
Dragging the hearse upon which Ol’ Grenth sprawled.
Up on the roof, on spindly legs they came creeping
As eight pair of pincers searched for souls to be reaping.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the chimney Ol’ Grenth came with a bound.
He was dressed all in black, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot;
Carrying a sack of coal so large and so grand,
Judgement had come with my fate in his hand.
His eye sockets — how they glowed! With menace and dread!
His cheekbones so sharp, I thought, “Now I’m dead”!
From his bony jaw appeared a grin of delight,
My heart skipped a beat, I was so full of fright;
His chill stole away all my warmth like a thief,
Until presently I heard the chatter of my teeth;
He had a skeletal face and was thin as a rail,
But the terror he exuded caused me to quail.
He was gaunt yet imposing, a right ominous old deity,
And I trembled when I saw him, in spite of my fealty;
A wave of his hand and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had everything to dread;
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
Ripping away all my skills and traits with a jerk,
Then pointing his finger, all crooked and bent,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he went;
He drifted to his hearse, to his team gave a wail,
And away they all glid like a dark ship under sail.
But I heard him exclaim, as he drove through the pall,
“NERF AWAY, NERF AWAY, NERF AWAY ALL!”

Who the hell is resing all of these kitten posts lol
I walked into the tower around 2 a.m. I work night shift so most days I can’t play with my friends. I slowly made my way up the tower. Mine hurt but once I learned that, 1st lvl was easy. Then lvl 2, fighting my way up still….some idiot runs and gives me 3 vets while I’m fighting one. It seems to be the pattern with this tower. You can’t do it alone. You need a group that can kill things quickly before a patrol gives you more things to fight, kill a champion event that blocks you way (group event).
You cannot solo your way up. Ive seen 5 vets in one area. How am I suppose to solo that. I have troubles doing this tower, minus instances, because its horrific. And if that isn’t enough, people only run though because that is the only way to SOLO the tower. I wanna know how they get past the champ events and the 5 vets.
I feel scorn as a solo player. I have made it to the top twice since it released. And I’m frustrated.
please please please let us have access to ascalonian armour and caudecus’s manor shoes in some other way than r50-60. just think how many ascalonian mesmers you’d make happy! (tbh even if you just send me the sets ^^ screw the other humans)
Wow, here I thought Lion’s Arch used Asuran/Charr hybrid technology to create a humanoid buoy!
I swam by you, sorry, I would have brought over some food.
There is a spot in the middle of the Lion’s Arch harbor where a rock lies submerged just below the surface. This is a hazard to navigation, and there is no warning buoy. I am doing my job as a concerned citizen, standing out there waving off ships until the city engineers can either remove the rock or put up a warning.
In the meanwhile, it is getting dark. Could someone please bring out a light, and perhaps a sandwich as well?
Set a man on fire, and he’ll be warm the rest of his life.

Necromancer:
For the necromancer, we felt that a few traits and skills were too powerful, while others were lacking in efficacy. We brought down some of the raw DPS conditions that necromancer enjoys, while also maintaining their pressure and sustain elements. The necromancer’s mobility will remain where it is currently, as we want the Necromancers to be focused on sustaining themselves through death shroud, siphoning health, and slowing down their opponent’s ability to act.
Hmmm…
They want us to sustain ourselves through Death Shroud and siphoning health? Really?
Who could forget this zinger from the July 23rd, 2013 patch:
- Damage taken while in death shroud will now overflow to the necromancer’s health pool if the damage taken is greater than the remaining life force. (nope, haven’t forgotten; nope, not gonna let it go)
Or these gems from the October 15th, 2013 patch
- Bloodthirst: This trait now grants 20% bonus siphoning, down from 50% more effectiveness (which results in no change when combined with the change to other siphoning traits). <== Their words, not mine.
- Vampiric, Vampiric Precision, Vampiric Rituals, and other life siphon skills: Increased the base siphoning by 20%. (which resulted in a net increase of a whopping two – yes, you read that right – two additional points of life siphoning when combined with the nerfed Bloodthirst)
And now – just for kittens and giggles – the upcoming December 10th patch:
- Soul Reaping II. Vital Persistence: Increased reduction of life force drain from 25% to 50%. (A little tip: our sustain issues have nothing to do with how fast or how slow Life Force degens while in Death Shroud; nada, zero, zilch, zip.)
But to be fair, they didn’t say, “…we want the Necromancers to sustain themselves through death shroud, siphoning health…”.
What they actually said was, “…we want the Necromancers to be focused on sustaining themselves through death shroud, siphoning health…”
Ok, fair enough. I’m focusing. I’m focusing real, reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal hard.
Hmmm…
My sustain doesn’t seem to be any better than what it was before.
Here’s a crazy idea:
Maybe it’s not the necro community that needs to do the focusing. Perhaps the focus needs to come from somebody else and directed at listening to what the community is telling you, rather than balancing off of a database of metrics or around the least played game mode (sPvP/tPvP).
And for the love of Grenth, could we PLEAAAAAAAAAAASE get someone on the balance team who actually plays necro as a main and knows the class.
Mark of Blood. Removed 1 bleed in PvP only. – i think its realy good change
Signet of Spite: Removed one bleed. – i think its ok but i am not sure if that was the problem of this utility
Spite 15 – Death into Life. Increased conversion from 5% to 7% – small buff to our sustain :P
Spite X – Chill of Death. Increased trigger threshold from 25% to 50%. – realy nice change that will give us more sustain vs mele
Curses IV – Weakening Shroud. Increase recharge from 15 to 25. – that is huge nerf for necro , that trait was the best defensive trait and u should think about it more
Curses VIII – Banshee’s Wail. Increase cooldown reduction from 15% to 20%. – its ok
Death 5 – Reanimator. Decreased cooldown from 30s to 15s. – that might be funny , but still this trait is usless
Death VIII – Reaper’s Protection. Decreased the cooldown from 90s to 60s. – i love this trait so i am glad to see that buff
Death 25 – Deadly Strength. Increased conversion from 5% to 10%. – power necro hmm i hope some day…
Blood Magic 25 – Blood to Power. Decreased health threshold from 90% to 75%. Increase Power from 90 to 120. – power necro hmm i hope some day…
Soul Reaping II. Vital Persistence. Increased reduction of life force drain from 25% to 50%. – that might be nice change we gonna see
Spite X – Chill of Death. Increased trigger threshold from 25% to 50% – AWESOME change, but i hope that its actual 50, not 20% like right now despite tooltip saying 25%
Curses VIII – Banshee’s Wail. Increase cooldown reduction from 15% to 20%. – Very much needed.
Death 5 – Reanimator. Decreased cooldown from 30s to 15s. – Please just fuse it with Protection of the Horde and make it at Major Trait, no matter how much you improve it its still blocking the entry into DM line for a lot of players that dont want to have sodding rats running around with them, still ok change/direction, but a better would have been, can proc up to 3 times within 30 seconds, no cooldown between procs, thus allowing for a spike of minions for MM builds on fights with adds.
Soul Reaping II. Vital Persistence. Increased reduction of life force drain from 25% to 50% – Making it kinda efficient, but its still not a good trait plain because of how the 3 main necro setups use DS, Power builds got enough LF generation that sticking in DS isnt a problem (and dagger is a stronger dps tool either way), for conditions its a one off and defensive tool thus only needing 10-30% LF and kinda only being able to generate that much and minion masters in best case use it as a heal for minions.
The degeneration isnt a problem its the difference in how easy, fast and reliably different setups can generate life force (from the fast D/WH, the burst A/F or the reliable n safe Staff with soul marks or worthless/almost non existent on S/D since Scepter 3 isnt a appealing skill to condis).
Things that really need change/fix is Putrid mark (being a 3 cleanse and not cleansing teammates), staff weapon swap/interrupt mark cd, buggy nature of Trident 1 (doesnt hit stuff right infront of you underwater but still can go trough some walls).
Personal wishes are a 1 second boost to Foot in the grave (or making it the SR GM minor) and changes to spite 10 major traits (especially Spiteful Spirit trait not worth it for the slot, but a lot of builds dont have a better option and it kinda is a major blasphemy of the once dear Elite).
Ok, sorry for the lame title, but I cannot think of something else that’s still polite.
So, Anet, I think you misunderstood the community. When we said “Living Story should add new permanent content to the game”, it was not a way to say “The old content sucks, nuke it and do something else”. And you know why ? Because you’re not adding content to the game this way !
You removed a path to add another one. There is still 3 path in Twilight Arbor, the exact same number than a year ago.
Twilight Arbor Forward/Up was an ok path with a kinda difficult and bugged final boss. Just put a cap to the number of spiders and make them despawn on wipe (that was the original state of the encounter btw), and done. You’ve got an ok path with a kinda difficult final boss. And no more whining about TA Fw/Up.
I don’t care about how longer, better, more fun, more interesting, more rewarding the new path is. I simply don’t care. You are removing core content from the game. And the pseudo lore justification I’ve read somewhere, just stop. You can’t put Scarlet and lore in the same sentence, that doesn’t work.
<personal rant – don’t pay attention>
And btw, I really hope you’re not going to slap Scarlet everywhere from now on, because she’s not a good character. She has no charisma and her dialogue is cheesy as hell. If you want to write a “I’m evil because I’m mad” character, take a look at Suikoden 2 or Final Fantasy 6, not some Scooby-Doo cartoon.
I already foresee Arah p5 with Scarlet riding a Robot Zhaitan and summoning more undead dredges and Etherblades, because you know, everyone loves dredge.
</personal rant>
I was really hyped for this patch, I was like “Ok, they are going the fix the issues in TA Fw/Up, maybe upgrade the 2 other paths, and add a new path ! Great !” but after watching the live stream, I’m really really disappointed.
I was kinda happy with the direction taken by the Living Story with the last few patches, but maybe I was too optimistic. This is not the good direction for the game. It has been a year, and I’m really tired.
That’s bring me back to my first question, why ?
PS : I’m sorry for any mistakes I’ve made, English is not my native language.
Ok, i am sorry but i was just curious what previous experience this “top necro” has? I am all for helping the forums and tutorial videos being posted, but after watching a few feel like they should be questioned? I am not trying to come off as a troll/kitten either. Just curious
