BTW – Great RP site/forums for the roleplay community on the servers.
It can take a little while for the mail to come through (switch zones etc helps)
It’ll be delivered to your mailbox in good time though
Bandits maybe? Events are good way of doing it with masses of mobs and AOE and just dodge (look for that “Evade” white text) as much as you can.
Warm welcome to all newcomers and looking forward to meeting you in-game and fine adventuring times ahead.
I’ll try and keep a lookout for you, Risky so can say a big Hello
Hello there
Make sure you have your keybind set for “Target Next Enemy” and “Target Nearest Enemy” – think one of them uses [TAB] by default. Then you can just press that key to target the nearest enemy to attack or cycle through the enemies with “Target next enemy”. This is great as it avoids having to click on the mobs which can be impossible in a big crowd etc.
2nd option is to make sure you have “Autotargeting” checked in the Options menu as this should select your closest enemy and target it when casting a spell etc. Problem with this is sometimes you might not want a mob selected or not that specific mob selected though this might be a more advanced tactic so having autotargeting is fine to begin with.
Hope that helps?
Happy adventuring. salutes
yes, it seems so..
at least we have the added fun of redoing those last little bits again.
sighs sadly
Diminishing returns are in-game so rushing through content, grinding mobs or events in same areas etc are all “less viable” than just adventuring, exploring and having fun.
You’re also missing out on a beautiful game, great people, scenic views and just enjoying the atmosphere of the game if you just want to rush headlong into some percieved l33t end-game.
As to specifics – perhaps someone can offer you better advice than I could to help you with what you want to do.
Oh well.. best of luck waves
Some way to learn dances ingame (and emotes too) would be a champion improvment eventually (after bug fixes/class balancing & content though)
I loved how in LotRO you had special racial dances that could be learned by the other races and perhaps we could have special seasonal dances, champion cheers, achievement emotes earned by special achievements such as Keg-Master, Brewer, Brawler and whatnot.
So much potential if they go with this… but in time… it’s still only months old and there are priorities but I do hope we see things like this eventually.
Engineer & Ranger would be the top two I consider need revision to put them on par..
Warrior, Guardian & Elementalist all seem strong in flavour, direction and ability so I’d love to see all the other classes slowly tweaked to reach a similar level of potential.
Diversity and new stuff is almost always good, imo.
I’d love to see new skills added, new weapons added and the potential for more builds.
I’d also like to see skills etc gained in different ways rather than simply accumulating skill points and spending them.. Unlocking stuff through quests, achievements, social interaction, training etc etc would perhaps add further depth to the game progression.
I have hopes we’ll see such great, new stuff added in future as it is still only months old.
:)
Hey there Olney and warm welcome to a great game
I recommend playing a few likely professions up to 10.. then to 20 and so on until you find ones that suit your playstyle, aesthetics etc and you find fun to play We have 5 character slots as default and daily achievements cross over characters so you can continue those daily gathering/kills/events to reach the achievement and get your reward
I’m pretty new (though played other MMORPG’s) and loving the game, community and the professions – found them all fun in different ways.
The stickies at top of this forum are really great – especially the OMG-If-you-only-knew.. (See signature for link to it also). Also searching youtube for GW2 vids can be a great help to give you an idea of playstyle, how to move, dodge, events etc etc.
Finally, once you find professions you like or consider liking – check out the profession forums for more in-depth answers and you’ll often see a thread on best leveling builds or how to start with that profession and those expert in the profession answer them well.
Happy adventuring and we’re here to help
Have fun!
I’m pretty new to GW2 (almost 2 months) but I’m loving it and seems busy and full on Tarnished Coast at various hours of day and night.
I prefer playing to posting though I try and browse these forums once in a while.
I avoid facebook.
I imagine there may be more players than the forums suggest but nowhere near 3 million players. I imagine some left after release, as is usual in all games but hopefully they’ll keep coming back to experience the improvements & changes as this game grows.
I think the negative tends to be more vocal than the positive so it’s easy to get a slightly skewed view of the game. IMO, personal experience through own game-play is best.
I support ANets take on this – No addons, please!
:)
Happy adventuring.
Problem with ideas like this is it tends to shift the game-play to the bars and the UI and not the actual environment & scenery we’re actually playing in.
I’d rather more “obvious” and different tells for enemy castings and skills than another bar as it’s then a steady downhill road to all of us having 100 mods for DPS Meter, Target skills, Target of Targets, Target of Targets’ Target, Cooldown meters, Next-skill-suggestion etc etc and we do indeed end up playing Addon-Wars 2 and miss the actual fun environment and game itself.
No, please.. don’t go to far down this road of extra bars & UI boxes.
:)
O/P – No,, Please, NO.. NO.. Just, No, thank you very much.
DPS Meters bring in elitist game-play, ignore those who support or revive their fellows and generally take the game in completely the wrong direction. I’m sure many of us have seen how DPS meters (and the thousands of other mods & addons) in other games changed those games and look where we are now.
We don’t need such tools to tell us how to play or whether someone is doing “enough” Damage Per Second.. This game should break away from such things and move towards the collaborative, communal & ground-breakingly creative game it has so much potential to be.
No DPS meters, please!
This has so much potential in the future to truly pave the way and lead the genre in terms of MMORPG’s.
I’d love to see the “personality” add extra quests from certain NPC’s, give us extra emotes, open up traders (perhaps after the questlines), even offer up special skills for us to use. NPC reactions, Factions and ofc our own Personal Story could all diverge depending on our personality.
Hopefully they are able to find time to be innovative and add to this in the future.
I started with a Ranger as well and had great fun (finding new “juvenile” pets to charm was extra added fun when out exploring) …
BUT, Just recently rolled a Guardian and having great fun with him as well and finding him very survivable indeed. It could be because of the extra experience I have with the world, mobs and the system etc but I’m having most fun on him.
I’d recommend perhaps having both a Ranger and Guardian as they have very different playstyles (generally) so you could play with one for a while then switch and adventure with the other for a time for extra fun.
PS. The daily gathering/events/kills achievement continues over characters so they even encourage us to switch characters it seems.
Firstly, big warm welcome to the game
Ok, let’s start with the weapon skills as they’re all you have before level 10.
Each weapon gives you different skills available in your default 1-5 slots.. so try out different weapon combinations and unlock the skills (2-5) by attacking easy to kill mobs as weapon skills need to be learned/trained by using that weapon.
.. then read the tooltips on the weapons to find what use they’ll be – some will jump you to the mob (Sword – Skill 2 I think?) or deal AOE damage or jump you back from the mob (Ranger Shortbow – skill 3), allow you to burn enemies (Torch offhand weapon) etc etc.
Once you get used to the weapons you like to use you should find things easier.
This isn’t a button-mash game like some other games but requires some timing and using the “right” skill at best time. You also want to be trying to move (strafing sideways) to avoid the enemy attacks as well as using your skills, swapping weapons (at certain level you’ll be able to have two sets of weapons equipped on your ranger or thief and swap between them in combat.. giving you twice the amount of weapon skills to use)
Then there’s your utility skills which are bought with skill points that you learn by skill challenges around the open world as well as 1pt every level after lvl 10. You get a util skill open as you level your character.
Eventually you’ll have enough skill points to buy all the skills available on a profession as you continue to get them after lvl80 and extras from out in the world so don’t worry about that. Buy the ones you think look useful.
Traits are where the builds come in and they “specialize” your character a little more but again, don’t worry to much at lower levels.. use what you think look useful. You get them reset at 40 & 60 anyways when you expand your trait options.
Dodging – key to survival against enemies (along with the sideways strafing, back-peddling and general mobility) and untraited a character can normally dodge twice in quick succession without needing to wait for the vigor to regenerate (yellow curved bar on top of red health globe). Traited you can often dodge even more.
Read a guide or two for leveling builds in the profession forum for details on best skills, weapons, traits are best while leveling or that you think might suit your playstyle best.
Hope that helps a little and really.. it’s just some practice and start slow
Happy adventuring. salutes

(edited by Alf.9137)
I like it as it is… fine, imo and there’s much bigger things to fix & add in-game than this.
It takes time to check for traps, study the locking mechanism etc and get it open, ofc.
It’s fine
Hey Rosalynde – Done!
I want to repeat everything Apolyon and others said..
I’m over 35, I prefer not to use text speak in-game when i can help it (RolePlayer so maybe that’s why) and there are different meanings for “Uber” and “Noob vs Newbie” than you had choices for.
Good survey though and good luck with your project – hope it yields results.
Hey Kae and welcome to the game
I’m an Altaholic and been doing something similar (though none of mine have reached 80 yet) ..
I have a range (50), Engineer (42), Guardian (39) and Elementalist (18) atm as my “Mains” with a Necro & Mesmer waiting in the wings ready to try out.
You could always buy an extra character slot off the gem store – they’re not very cheap but worth it for the fun and convenience of another character.
I’m loving the Guardian now and like it’s playstyle and survival though not run any dungeons yet…
Necro’s also seem to be quite fun and have more range options as does the Mesmer .. or continue your Elementalist with different weapons & build to see how that fits you?
Finally, Ranger could suit you nicely and I have fun on my ranger but in dungeons people seem to select pets with ranged attacks (Spiders etc) or those that buff characters and put them on passive so they stay with you so you don’t need to worry about their survival so much.
Character choice is such a personal thing it’s so hard to offer best advice to someone else but I do suggest keep trying out all the different weapon combos and builds as these really seem to change how a profession plays and what they can do.
Hope that helps and congrats on your 80
looks up and cheers
I came here and hope to stay to watch this game become it’s own awesome self, not a copy or clone of some other game many of us left.
As a newish player myself, loving this game just for the relaxed and casual leveling aspect.. rewarded for exploring out of the way places (with Jump Puzzles, Vistas, World treasure chests and “hidden” NPCs/beasties/events) – makes a nice change for me and loving it so far.
All classes seem fun and very viable (even the engineer is fun for me even though it perhaps has most bugs/issues)
Great community on many servers and being able to move servers for free every 7 days (right now.. paid by gems later) is a great way to test out your home server.
Still needs many improvements, bug fixes and content/systems/features added but this is still a very, very young game so I’m hoping to be here and enjoy seeing it develop and grow as years go on.
:)
Enjoy the journey and fun times ahead for you I hope.
1-15 as in for characters level 1 to 15 (Starter zones) and then the nearby zones are often 15-25.. then 25-35 etc etc.. so there’s a gentle push onwards as you level.
You get more xp and more things to do moving and exploring.. so try and fill up the hearts and do DE’s in your starter zone – you get nice xp for completing each zone map as well as rewards. You also get xp for finding new areas, vising points of interest, viewing vistas as well as killing things.
.. then move on to another area you’ve not explored so you get all those little xp’s for finding new areas, POI’s, Vistas etc while filling up the new hearts. Mouse over a heart tells you the suggested level you should be to complete the heart.
Crafting also gives xp.
:)
waves warmly at Sckolar
Hey there and welcome to the game
As mentioned Tarnished Coast (US) and Piken Square (EU) are the “unofficial” RP servers though imagine other servers might have their own groups of rp’ers too.
Guildwars2roleplay.com is a great site for all things RP on those two servers as they have guild recruitment and general discussion forums for you to find like-minded people.
This game has a great community so you could also ask in-game.. perhaps in the Lions Arch Map Chat for RP Guilds etc or make contact by forums to find people.. or PM people in here you like the sound of perhaps.
I’ve loved fun Roleplay for decades now and look forward to seeing how this game adds to our RP options & fluff in future.
Best of luck and happy adventuring.. perhaps we’ll meet upon the well trod road to greatness.
Edit: Thanks Donari

Tips & Tricks for New Players
(edited by Alf.9137)
I’d love a dwarfish race as I miss having a short but less cure race and always been a fan of Dwarves since days long past.
Looking forward to seeing what happens with game & expansions in future though I’d say no real rush on this sort of extra content yet. Fix Bugs, add more PvP & PvE options, more UI & Guild features first, imo.
This is where I hope perhaps we’ll see some form of heroic professions at max level – don’t increase levels forever but instead off horizontal progression where perhaps an Elementalist could choose a path of specialization into a Storm-Singer (Water & Air) etc etc…
Same with other classes so it would be fair, able to balance and offer all a chance to explore different specializations without messing up or over-complicating the leveling.
I’d love to see each profession expand it’s options into 3 distinct paths or specializations at max as long as those could be changed/redone as well so we’re still not permanently limited to a bad choice.
I don’t like the idea of more weapon swaps for an elementalist as that loses their flavor and the identity of what they are really.
It is very handy to be able to sell gear from anywhere in world on Trading Post though Great way to empty those bags while adventuring.
I’d rather not have the game become to easy and collections into bank from anywhere is enough (for me) in that regard.. I want to exercise some brain power
I’d like to see them add deeper horizontal Character development by adding extra skills that area learned out in the world as we level.
Perhaps …
* Special quests at skill points or on NPC’s in cities/wilds that must be completed to learn a certain skill
- Get rid of the Magic Find stat and instead add wilderness or lore skills that can be learnt (and taught to other players by players?) for these sorts of things.
- Special Dynamic events that reward a certain skill at the end.
Thus as well as normal skills, give us harder to get skills that can then be added to our pool of options for us to choose and change builds.
Even Heroic Professions at end game that allow us to change things up and give us more to think about.
I never played GW1 but I love the start of GW2 and there’s so much potential here to go away from other MMO’s and become something truly special.
Would love to see a dueling ring/arena where people can duel or fight competetively 1vs1 to 5-5 in key cities.. perhaps this might make other than LA’s a goto place for those people. Imagine if they could have spectators and some form of “betting” that couldn’t be abused.
Fight Pits
Yes, more pvp battleground options would be nice too but as i’m still low level i hope we’ll see more of this in future.
I used to have this happen in another game (Not so much atm in GW2 as I don’t take my little finger off shift so don’t go near that nasty windows key it’s deadly)
I’m not sure games have a way to really disable it (maybe as it’s part of windows really?) but there’s some keymap app that allows you to do it outside game so it’s remapped for everything I think.. just can’t remember the mapping app but maybe someone else can offer it up or a google search might help?
Hope you have success as know how you feel.. it’s a pain.
EDIT NOTE: Read these guides on GuildWars2hub.com
Woooh, just found a very useful list of guides for newcomers that should prove very, very helpful. Lists pretty much everything you need to know to really start getting to grips with the game.
Then you know what questions to ask
Hope it helps.
They should go make their own coin I prefer having all my characters separate as I like them each to have their own identity, history and situation.. having a lowbie doing well at trading and getting rich is nice and the bank deposit makes things fine if someone needs a loan from another character.
- Coming from an altaholic and Roleplayer, having everything merged would certainly diminish my fun and sense of achievement.
Very big welcome to you, Razzle.
There’s so much to offer in way of advice or tips etc but great start is reading the forums like you’re doing, browsing the necromancer forums as well for leveling tips & builds and just taking it slow and easy and you’ll learn as you go.
Some general, quick hints…
1) Explore your starter zone (you get reward for completing each map btw)
2) Hearts are like quest hubs but without NPC’s with quest icons – look out for waving people or those seeming intent on moving somewhere or doing something. They often speak to you and tell you what’s going on but it can be easier to miss than many games.
3) Explore and enjoy – Visit the Vistas for views, Jumping Puzzles often offer treasure at end, hidden areas may have a nasty beast guarding hidden stuff.
4) Dynamic Events are great and when you come across one or you’re nearby… go jump in for extra experience, fun and reward at end sometimes. These happen spontaneously or when enough people gather or have changed the world enough to start the event.. often another even follows on from the last so hang about after to see.
5) Explore new zones after a while to get more xp etc as if you stay in same area over and over you’ll suffer diminished returns on xp etc.
6) Try all weapon combos out by putting new weapons in your slots for new skills to learn and see which playstyle best fits you.
Another great way is finding a helpful, willing person on your server who you can just whisper quick questions to or a guild to do the same as this is faster & easier than on a thread like this when there’s so much to slowly pick up.
Read – https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/OMG-If-you-only-knew-this-tips-for-new-players
Great list of tips for general play.. search google for youtube GW2 beginner guide or something similar perhaps if you want to see stuff done.. lots of great (but perhaps more advanced) gameplay vids on youtube.
Let us know what server you’re on to see anyone can offer immediate answers ingame.
ALSO – Sign up on the Operation:Union project – https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/OPERATION-UNION-Bringing-Players-Together/page/29#post1190508
Great place to get help, advice and meet people ingame on any server.
Finally, Necromancer seems to be quite an advanced class as they’re light armor wearers and have summons, bleeds, condition damage etc to manage but they certainly seem to be powerful but may be tough if you get into trouble while learning game.
I’m a altaholic so only played to level 40ish right now on 4 different characters (Ranger, Guardian, Engineer & Necromancer) but all professions seem great fun to me.
Have fun and enjoy this great game.

Tips & Tricks for New Players
(edited by Alf.9137)
Perhaps they’ll add something like Champion classes or Heroic Traits llater on to better define “roles” for end-game but I don’t want the starter professions becoming classes like other games but deeper horizontal development is rarely a bad thing.
I strongly join the voices of Sinifair and others in advocating making this the best game community we can as I also lost interest in wow when the community crashed & burned and it became a simple grindfest to endgame/loot/stats – I want a game where helping others, roleplaying or socialising, exploration, lore & fluff tidbits etc etc are rewarded and warmly welcomed.
This is still a very young game so it has much room for improvement (don’t they all) but it’s also crucial we try and keep ANet focused and informed of the direction we wish to see it go and build up the community as a strong selling point.
I’m pretty new but I see the potential here for the future if we can ALL keep on track and feedback our suggestions, observations & comments in a constructive way. Trolling, bias and generally unconstructive posts just turn me off reading the rest of the post or considering that viewpoint – constructivism is always better way to go, IMO.
I hope the game will continue it’s aim to offer many things to do and alternative paths to reward without falling into that dreaded trap of gear/level grind just to reach an arbitary endgame while missing out on the journey.
I’m hoping for deeper horizontal progression, extra choices and alternate build progression, more PVE & PvP, extra RP f& lore fluff such as emotes and skills that could be learned rather than simply rewarding ever-higher tiers of loot. Also, longing for them to make more use of the Personal story and character personality we have on our hero sheets – There is indeed so much potential for a most awesome game, given time and community support.
Hey there and big welcome to the game
You CAN indeed change realms for free (every 7 days I think) that moves all your characters to that realm so that’s not a problem.. try a few out to see if you like them or check the “Operations:Union” thread for a great place to make contacts and find like-minded people to meet up with perhaps.
I’d recommend a “full” or nearly full realm for a new player as these are most populated so you’ll likely bump into more people about doing the events etc.
If you enjoy or want to try RolePlay I’d certainly receommend Tarnished Coast. I’m new as well so not met many people yet but those i have have all been friendly and helpful but I imagine this is same on most servers as GW2 seems to have a great community.
Wherever you end up, have fun and happy adventures – perhaps we’ll meet upon the road to greatness
I also wondered why it’s called Guild Wars 2 as there seems to be none of that in the story or lore except some references to 250 years past..
BUT,
Hoping in future they’ll extend the lore and add events & factions that bring this in to he game so that it will indeed be the Second Guild Wars.
I live in hope as this game is still very early stages of release so I hope they’ll add lots more relevant & deeper fun stuff in the right direction in future years.
nods
As others said – Elementalist (and Engineer) only have one weapon set available so you have to swap your weapons out of combat by putting in a new set (i.e. Dagger/Dagger to Staff or Dagger/Focus etc)
BUT…
This is because Elementalists use their atunements (Professional skills – F1-F4 by Default) like others use weapon swaps – you should swap these attunements in a fight to get different skills like others do with weapons. i.e. F1 (Fire) is for Damage spells, F2 (Water) is for Healingm F33 (Air) is for speed etc etc.
This is why Elementalist & Engineer ae considered more complex classes that some others as it takes a good while to get familiar with etc. but it’s very effective when done right.
TL:DR – They only have 1 weapon set because they have 4 spell sets which act the same so you really get double the skills/spells other professions get and can become truly awesome with practice.

Talking gore – Indeed, it’s not up there with Age of Conan’s head lobbing and other fatalities or the WoW simple mod that add blood splatters to your screen but if you look you’ll notice rather nice gore splatters of blood on armor after battles or in your personal story – perhaps most visible on heavy armors but it’s blood splatters.
OP, I must disagree as well with your views expressed.
I chose this game specifically because it was different than those other MMORPG’s we’ve all “enjoyed” in past and this is something extra.. fresh & new and I hope ARenaNet continue onwards down their own path and keep building on what they have, not going backwards and becoming just another clone.
There are roles, they’;re just not tied down to a profession but instead are expressed and delivered via builds, equipment etc and thus we get to enjoy many roles on a single character if that’s what we want.
Not having the trinity etc makes things much more dynamic and teamwork can be wonderful through using fields and finishers and boons. Great stuff.
I do hope they add more horizontal progression and deeper character development but not just by adding levels, higher level gear etc but through extra skills to obtain and learn, personal stuff etc.
Having a good keyboard layout that your hands can easily (and comfortably) work with is key to good play, I think… and it’s often different for everyone as people have different sized or shaped hands or older hands (like mine) that may not be as flexible or able to stretch over large number of keys.
Moving camera with mouse is essential for the turning speed and I also move forward with both mouse buttons pressed. I also have autorun on my mouse side button so i can use it in short doses and then turn camera or ground target with the keyboard hotkeys (thinking of keeping forward & backwards on keys also for backups but not found a good place for them, yet)
My hotkeys are different from the default as I just can’t easily reach the numbers 1-5 easily for long periods without my palm causing havoc and my hand cramping up…
What I use, instead is :-
Strafe Left (Goes on Left Shift Key) – This also keeps me more often moving which is kind’a essential in this game.
Strafe Right (Spacebar) – It’s an old keyboard and space for jump can sometimes not work and i plunge to eat dirt so having strafe right here allows my thumb to use this as well as the bottom set of keys (ALT, X, C, V)
Weapon Skills 1-5 (assigned to A-W-E-R-Q) – A as it’s not often needed to press this skill as it’s our auto-attack anyways on most skills/builds. The others are my most easily reached keys and I can move quickly between them with my Left index finger.
Heal Skill (A crucial skill so it goes on “C” where it can be pressed by my thumb easily even while strafing or attacking with my weapon skills)
Elite Skill (“X” as it’s also easily reached with thumb at any time)
Util Skills (I have these on “S”, "D, “F” so my index finger need just slip down a row for them and then back up to weapon skills without losing my position etc)
Target Nearest Enemy is on CAPS rather than the default TAB for a little easier to reach.
Look Behind & About Face are on “B” & “V” for when i’m more skilled and able to make use of these as again thumb can get them easily without having to leave my weapon skills alone.
Target Ally can go somewhere nearby when I’ve found just the right place.
TIP: Put your – Interact/Gather skill somewhere really quick and easy to reach as well as you’ll likely be needing that a lot. I have it on Shft-Q atm as it’s my most comfortable position but “T” or “G” are also possible keys for this and other general actions such as Open bags etc.
F1-F4 are used for my most common interface panels so I can just move my left hand up to them when out-of-combat (Hero Panel, Contacts, Mail, Trading Post)
This is still being tweaked for my own most personal, ease of use and as I’ve not been playing very long it’ll likely be tweaked for what skills I use most or need at same time as another skill etc.. having such skills close together etc. can be essential.
NOTE: You can still use the shift key assigned with other keys to bring things even closer together, it’s often just a matter of working out which skills use want to use while strafing or remember to strafe-right while using them)
Finally, Key-bindings can be a very personal thing sometimes so try and tweak as you go while leveling and practice to get it right so muscle memory can start taking effect. Changing after long time playing other bindings can be a real chore.
Very warm welcome to the game, Bubblerum and I hope your adventures go well and you’re getting to grips with the game and how it’s different from those other MMO’s.
BTW, I’m also new to this game as only been playing 6 weeks or so and an older player (Like Donari, also) and on Tarnished Coast server (like Donari, again) so if you fancy visiting TC server it would be great to have new friends to ocassionaly team up with, chat, gear swap or get guidance from.
Your choice of Guardian sounds a very good choice. I’m an Altaholic with 4 a Ranger, Engineer, Guardian & Elementalist between 20-40 and loving each of them for their individual style and gameplay. Guardians are certainly tough and do great in any role it seems.
Wherever you end up, best of luck and keep having such fun Must confess, never had so much fun as exploring and finding a “secret” area with a jump puzzle or a nasty beastie guarding a horde or treasure.. long may it continue.
Cheers
waves warmly
Greetings to you all – Newbie to GW2 who wouldn’t mind making friends and meeting interesting people in-game ocassionaly. An altaholic who’s been playing about a month on Yarnished Coast server. I’m from UK but my playtimes often vary or are irregular so finding people can be tricky. An older player with adequate MMO & RPG experience seeks extra fun and experiences in GW2.
Name: Alf (hoping to change this when they add a change account name option)
Main Character: Dunraven Grey (40’s), Papa Crow (30’s), Bearwolf Grey (20’s)
Current Server: Tarnished Coast
Interested Activities: Dungeons, PvE, PvP, RP, Social & Crafting, Exploring
Active: Varies but often most mornings or nights
Additional Comments: I don’t have a working soundcard or mic so no voice for me but happy to type for chat though I’m often happy to remain quiet as well.

Tips & Tricks for New Players
(edited by Alf.9137)
Welcome to the game, Gorwe and sorry to hear you’re having issues with the PVE as for some styles it works well but can take some getting used to after other games with quest hubs etc.
Some points that might help :-
1) If an NPC waves at you they often want to speak to you and may start you off on a QUEST. There are no quest icons above heads ofc so it’s often easy to miss extra quests but if you pay attention to NPC’s you meet or hang about after you help someone they may have another mission to help with etc.
2) The game seems to want to move us along so staying in same area and redoing hubs/DE’s is a bad idea due to diminished returns etc. Move on and explore the out of the way places – sometimes a hidden area may have treasure, a vet or champ (eeek) mob etc.
3) Jumping puzzles – these are anywhere and had to notice unless you’re curious but if you notice strange rock formations etc there may be a jumping puzzle to complete and a reward perhaps at it’s end.
Hey there and firstly, big welcome to a a truly fun game (IMO).
I’m also very new to the game and loving it but would love to meet a few like-minded people to team with or whatever on ocassion so if anyone fancies seeking me out, would love the company. The Operation: UNION post in this forum is very helpful for finding people on your server as well.
Never played on ED but It seems a fun and friendly server so hopefully you can find some great people there and below.
Wherever you end up, best of luck and happy adventuring
