As stated above. You can still save pvp. The combat is really great, the best one I’ve ever met in mmorpgs. In my opinion it pushes WoW’s pvp to the 10km deep hole, but You’re still wasting it…
The essence of waste is in organisation – You must rethink it. The combat solely is a very good thing. Adding conquest to it can spice it up, but can’t make something better – this could be an additional mode or so…
The DEEP POTENTIAL lies in 1v1. I see it there. People don’t build glass-cannons, because they’re countered with balanced builds. Same do the bunkers – they’re useless – no damage, what’s the point to fight?
Even small arena brackets could make it up. But why don’t try having a 1v1? 1v1 esports also exist. For example Starcraft. And 1v1 isn’t a problem in finding players to play against, even with this playerbase we have now. However it is only Your decision – just giving and idea here. Obviously the 2v2/3v3 arenas would be a cool towel put on a scar.
The balance that is there now isn’t good for 5n5 conquest at all, but is doing quite well in 1v1s.

Mentioned on the forums many times during the peak-cry-time. Of course no response from ANet in these threads, so don’t think they will respond in this one ;p
One of the devs said that the modes won’t currently be under development, sigh. Other major features are. Still, I hope it won’t take them years to implement them.
Not a bad idea, for sure it’d make the game not so mainstreamlike. But the balance is the other thing.

The game will simply be dead until they remove the ticket system and implement arenas. This game has such a potential in combat that it doesn’t need any crappy conquest to make it a game, but to spice it up once upon a time, not everyday. Too much spice can make your stomach hurt, ANet.
I just got 3-shotted from a thief. A TRUE GLASS-CANON THIEF, so my teammate killed him afterwards easily. That’s what it is supposed to be – can do GREAT damage, but also takes hard punches straightly in the face.
Imho thieves balanced well for now, gj ANet, at least with this :P
Nhemin, no one can bypass the tank/healer/dps. What do the teams now consist of? Bunkers/support(mostly ele for much healing/condition removal)/glass cannon bursters.
But the problem is that this is an imbalanced trinity…. You can make a guardian an unkillable unless 1v3-ing, a thief oneshotting others and an ele with great survivability and support… But you can’t make them balanced, sadly. The tank/healer/dps guaranteed it better. Why not use something that works well, just to be different? That was the very bad choice of Yours, ANet.
Agreed so hardly. I also won’t pay my life(school, friends, family, sleep) to play for 4-5 hours every day… That’s just impossible and it throws away competitive players with life(yes ANet, those really exist!).

I and the majority of PvP players for sure are frustrated that this time was spent on another conquest map than just giving us an arena / deathmatch that we’d be very happy to play.
Especially enjoying though fights versus VS. Today’s fights on Blacktide border’s hills were just wonderful! Looking forward to seeing more of these guys
This EU/US isn’t split just “because”, but to not experience the constant delay which is caused by being distant from the server location.

And the communication that was between the dev groups and the players was a way better just after the launch. If we get one whole answer to a single topic in SPvP it’s a day to celebrate.

I’ve played with my friends just for fun as 2 support staff eles + 2 bunker guardians + backtab glass-cannon thief.

No one could die here, and if there was a bunker v two from the opposing team, our thief simply went to help and one-shotted one of the enemies. Simple.
This is not any kind of flaming or smth, just saying that bunkers must be nerfed and the glass cannon builds can’t be left as they are.
Fully agree. However I have no idea if 2v2 would go right in this case. Probably as a test it can go on. But 3v3 should be the major bracket. And just limit it to not have 2 or more same classes in a team, no bunkers(can’t enter with toughness / health > x or something like that – hope ANet has better ideas, or rather would have) and no bursters. I have some ideas how this could be solved, but they’re so stupid and hard to invent that I think it’ll be better if I won’t tell You about them…
I completely agree with the topic. The main issue for me is that the teams actually are 5-man squads. It’s really hard to have 5 guys playing at the same times for more than 2-3 times a week(assuming that they also have something called real life) for ~3hours. Tho we don’t always get in the time when the paid tourneys are being played. It would be incredibly good if there was something done with the free tourneys along with paids, that you are able to queue as follows:
1 or 2 man group – Gets along with 1/1/1 or 1/2 teams, so you sum up
2 men(your group) + 1 man(solo queuer) + 2 men(another group) and you get a full 5man group. At this point, it would be very cool if ANet added an ingame voicecom, as it would not be disadvantaging so much, that you don’t have the device the other team has and can’t contact them so frequently and efficiently in-game. I think that device would need to be a very good one – obviously not something like an external program like teamspeak or so – but something that you can hear with are people saying(personally was playing dota2 and hon and can’t understand much of what they say – the quality’s so bad, especially in hon). And there it’s also needed to implement a rating – like LoL has it’s ELO, it would be nice to have it diminished into Solo queue(1man or 2men queue) and team queue(5men).
This and the other ideas people post would really help the game. But ANet, You must do that quickly. Personally, I and my friends quit playing PvP because we couldn’t have 5 of us online so frequently to have matches. There always were 2-even 4 of us, but if we took a fifth one, we didn’t really want to play a paid tourney, because he didn’t know ours strats and didn’t play much with us to be oriented in our playstyle.

I’m giving up on pvp. The reason is simple – I can’t find 4 very good, experienced people. Many people that play GW2 pvp(or stopped it) are former WoW players, and are used to 2v2 / 3v3 arenas. That mode was a way easier to find teammates for. What about WoW’s 5n5? It was a dead bracket. It’s going in the same direction in GW2. Sadly, there’s no other bracket…
If there was a 3v3 arena(which would be the best – rather balanced, with not many people needed to play) for sure PvP would be better.
But that’s just a planning failure. There was a hope for pvp to be something exciting as a new thing. Well, playing as bunkers isn’t exciting. Standing on the point for whole games. Sometimes, it’s better to take advice from someone’s instance. You’ve created something new, good. It was fine for some weeks, because it was NEW. Now it isn’t anything new, and, sadly, it became a boring game type.
Of course not everyone must agree with me. I’m sorry for the criticism in the post, but I(and not only me)‘d love to have another game mode… just typical arena battles. The “just-fight” system is allright there – very dynamic, and You don’t have just one viable build for a class. That’s a big, BIG plus. Just the game modes are boring and there aren’t enough interested-in-pvp people to form teams.
It didn’t count the clocktower and pumpkin carvings for me. No idea whether they should be counted or not.

Indeed, we most badly need ladder now. That should be the major focus after giving us paid tournaments.
The main problem is that people don’t know how to play direct damage necromancer. Personally, played both the builds, and I find direct damage more interesting and fungiving. Also it’s more supportive for the team(when you build him right obviously
).
Referring to pvp atm, just to mention.
Both the specs have pros and cons.
As a pvp hc player I don’t think direct damage necro needs any kind of buff for now. He’s doing well. But shatterer mesm nerf would be nice = D

Hello. As I’ve been playing tPvP I’ve always been noticing the small necromancer’s survivability in the beginning. Obviously it’s caused by 0% life force. Yeah, I agree it shall reset upon the beginning of each match, so that everyone has the same amount of life force, but we should not be unable to use Death Shroud in the beginning of the game. Imho that’s a bit little unfair. I suggest setting the starting life force pool to a constant one >=50%, or a respawn(including the match beginning) life force pool >=35%.
It’s the major issue of necro in tournaments.
