BGDM is kinda an excuse for elitist to kick people out because they did not perform to the maximum efficiency in order to save their “precious time”.
Aside from elitist raiders, general player-base usually don’t bother using a program like that honestly. They would probably learn the rotation from reddit/ youtube and try to perfect that rotation , but not many of them will actually open a dps meter to check how everyone else perform unless they do raids on a daily base.
The only community that’d probably disappoint about this is the elite raider guilds and gvg community, which are honestly quite a small community in GW2 tbh.
Actually most who kick people due to low dps numbers aren’t the ones in the elite groups. lol Normally it’s the people in the 60-80% range. The top players generally either A: don’t pug and run with their guilds only, or B: are more chill in pugs. The people who kick for not putting up numbers are the same people who used to kick in dungeons if you were a certain class. At the very least now it’s partially performance based rather than pure bias. I agree that the people who really “need” a dps meter if quite small, but it can be extremely helpful to those people. Also the people who put youtube guide videos use them to vet their builds/rotations for others to use, which is something quite a few people seem to forget.
One of the problems is condition duration, it should be removed and condition durations on skills should be adjused. Also, crit damage should be 200% by default (like in most other MMOs), instead of 150%, that would help power builds.
That would just bring things back to the “zerker or gtfo” meta. The difference between condi and power isn’t that huge except for a few builds. (Reaper/revenant) Smaller adjustments would work just fine to make power more desirable.
Losing BGDM will make GW2 less fun to play for me sadly. It was the most accurate DPS meter and had more functionality than Arc does.
Does Anet plan on implementing visible health bars? This feature was very useful for healing roles and has been asked for on both these forums and Reddit previously.
Will Anet develop a tool so players can track boon uptime? Again another very useful tool that was used in raids, fractals, and dungeons.
Without considering the politics surrounding BGDM and its creator, GW2 players just lost a very useful tool that added to our playing experience. I would like to know if Anet has any interest or plan to add the lost features into the game. Having an accurate dps meter gave those of us who wished to improve a tool to measure performance, and the features of float bars and boon up time will also very much be missed. I hope that these are added back into the game since it was something that the player base knows is possible and would like to have to option to toggle on and play with. Please give players that want to get better the ability to gather the data in order to do so.
Thanks,
Nah, even though they gave the okay for dps meters I don’t see them ever developing one. Honestly I kinda Arc is the better dps meter, but BGDM felt a bit prettier and user friendly. (Although I admit my use of them is still somewhat limited as I just started playing again). The user seems to have been prodding the lion for a while now keeping the illegal version on his website though so I’m not really shocked at what happened. I think if GW2 gave them an API to work off of specifically to feed dps meters information, and only the information ANet was okay with, then it’d probably simplify things. My understanding is that really hasn’t happened yet which I think would be more in-line with what Anet could provide assuming they have the staff to spare doing it.
“Yobculture.5786. – it’s just that we need reliable metrics to be able to do raids properly and monitor what is going right/wrong in a particular raid group.”
I left work at work. I’m home and want to play.
Then play? You shouldn’t feel obligated to run raids at all, and if you do, then run it with people who are cool doing just a casual run. You have every right to want to run raids how you want to, however that applies to anyone else. That means if someone wants a speed run with a good dps that’s their right. They have no more obligation to carry you than you do treating GW2 like a job..
Honestly I’m not expecting anything for mesmer. Some bug fixes and that’s about it. I have no real reason behind it, it’s just a feeling I have. Maybe some nerfs on a couple cooldowns and that’s it.
Every now and then I still come back to see what’s up on the mesmer forums, and I see topics like this…
Lol nothing ever changes.
Random moron: “Nerf Mesmers”
Everyone: “Dude…”
Random Moron: “No for real”
Pyro: “Yur dumb, numbers+reasons”
Random Moron: “No you”
Thread derails into discussion by community of better ways to nerf mesmer so it will get stop getting nerfed. The mesmer forum really is a special place.
Edit: Also the dude talking about defensive stats not being used in roaming and glass being standard made me check the date on the post, thought it was from a year ago or something.
Yep, I’ve noticed this myself. The mesmer forum seems to be an interesting mix of kitten thieves, intelligent veteran mesmers, newer self-hating mesmers and random people who see all this and troll for lulz. It’s good for entertainment, if nothing else.
Yeah, pve wise the only place necros seem to fall behind is trying to set world record speed runs. Assuming you don’t plan to try that you’ll be fine as a necromancer.
It’s possible chronomancer is overtuned but let’s give it time before we spout "nerf’ on the forums. Give everyone time to learn how to use chronomancer and fight chronomancer, that way the feedback given can be done in a way they end up balanced rather than nerfing the wrong things and either keeping it too powerful, or making it useless. Understanding can go a long way.
Also I might want to point out to those bashing Yeti that it’s hard to take someone seriously one day into an expansion when they go to the forum crying nerf. No one fully understands the upsides and limits on a class that is still fairly new to most people.
Edit: Also keep in mind there have been calls of Dragonhunter and scrapper to be nerfed too, the whole knee jerk reaction seems to be a little strong, that’s why in many ways I’m glad Anet is a tad slow on balance passes. People tend to react rather than learn.

Tetsuji apparently you don’t know how to actually play the game and want every class you have problems with brought to your level of play where they don’t hinder you.
I’m glad the Devs look at stats of the game and take all the QQ posts made with a grain of salt.
Again an attack/ evade with mediocre dps and causes the mesmer to be stationary and rooted that is easily avoided if you played using the already provided counters and mechanics in the game called dodge, or even simpler moving out of the way, and the whole burst to take time to setup and is not in the least instant setup up.
But no you want classes nerfed, for no other reason than you needing to l2p, every gripe you have made is easily countered or avoided. Yes Burn is borderline but still handled relatively easily.
Alright man 1v1 me Why dont you actually just add me pal. use your main too. Lets see If i dont know how to play.
Just an FYI since you keep mentioning it, the game isn’t really balanced around 1v1s, it’s balanced around spvp as a whole. If you keep saying ‘this class is OPed because it’s good 1v1’ you’re just asking to be ignored by devs and made fun of on the forums.
Also saying ‘all pvpers agree’ in a topic with many pvper disagreeing makes it look pretty bad in general. For the record I really don’t see mesmer as being ridiculously OPed as you do either, if they were, you’d see every team stacking them like d/d cele ele, but you really don’t.
1st Topic:
Honestly? I think it’d be pretty kitten hard to make this game more casual than it already is, on top of that keep in mind once you make your legendary there is no need to replace it at all. This isn’t WoW or swotr where you have new gears sets with new raids, so overall you really won’t spend much time gearing characters.
2nd Topic:
I could see this being added, as long as it’s mostly cosmetic I don’t really have an issue with it at all, personally I’d probably still mostly use waypoints, but I’d rather them make money off something mostly if not completely cosmetic than anywhere else.
3rd Topic:
I think they’ve already largely made their stance clear here, they never intend to support third party software, but in general if it’s convenience rather than something that gives an advantage they don’t seem intent on going after you. Although if you break your game with it, that’s on you.
4th Topic:
The game is built around having a soft trinity of dps, support and healing, to add a WoW trinity would be to completely change how the game works, and aside from the headache of them doing it, would tick quite a few off, I don’t see it happening.
Honorable mention:
If mesmer is so OP, why are there so few on the ESL level?
Pvp will probably never be balanced, in any game ever although it’s something to stride for.
I’m okay with raid exclusives as long as it’s cosmetic. Meaning skins, this game isn’t built around a gear treadmill, that’s something you’ll need to accept. Unless they drastically change direction that will always be the case.
I’m not opposed to new items being added to the gem store, if people want to drop some money on them hopefully it’d help the game.
If you’re uncertain I’d just suggest waiting. Unless you have a burning desire to run fractals, I’d just save them since rerolling stats will take money and spirit shards. No need to rush things.
I’m so optimistic I’m leveling other classes fully expecting a heavy nerf due to QQ.
If they are selectively punishing people then how are they targeting them? Forum posts?
I got forum infraction once because I say not nice thing about arena net. It seem like all I get for few week was junk drop. This of course was RNG work not conspiracy. Just thought funny.
I once trolled on a forum post and accidentally re-rolled ranger. =/ The curse is real.
Maybe they’ll just decide not to add druid and delete ranger from the game
…..I’d laugh but….well I wouldn’t be shocked. >.>
Maybe scrapper is named that because they’re scrapping ranger? …… I’m sorry that was terrible…
Anet doesn’t balance around WvW roaming, sorry.
This. Why would they take it into consideration anyway? If WvW roaming is what you enjoy knock yourselves out, but in the end the devs aren’t going to balance around a style that wasn’t really a focus of WvW, let alone the game as a whole.
My wish: A blowout extravaganza
Everything that they’ve ever had in the gemstore brought back for 24hours and some of these, at least, at discounted prices.
My expectation:
fun boxes. Reduced by 50 gems. One per account.
One free instant repair canister per account.
Sadly this seems likely… I’ve been disappointed with the sale in general. I’d like to see the harvesting tools discounted and bunny ears myself for what it’s worth…
Okay I am going to get so much hate for this but I am still going to say this between all the salty-ness out here:
I love the tempest.
I’ve been doing nothing else but playing it this weekend in PvP and I’ve had great success! Made myself a fresh air tempest build. It offer the same, if not more, damage and burst with much more team based utility and personal survivability!
Now do not get me wrong, it needs polishing. Some traits feel out of place, some things just feel a bit too weak. But overall I love the feeling of it, the playstyle and the results are good. I finally feel elementalist has something new to offer instead of playing mindlessly D/D and kite around.
Anyway, just my compliments to the designer team of this specialisation from me. I like it.
I don’t think most would have an issue with you LIKING the class, that is after all your opinion. What people seem to get angry about is someone posting about balance and someone popping into the thread and saying ‘I like it so it’s fine’. In the end liking a class is all subjective.
Anyway, while tempest need some tweaks at least to be more useful I for one am glad you enjoy the class.
What Anet should have done is added keep your character progression to the Ultimate Edition to give it added value.
Because that wouldn’t have caused a fan base uproar. Nothing that gives someone an advantage in game should be included in packages like that. I know you want an advantage, but that doesn’t mean Anet should provide one.
Exactly, that is the essence of p2w, and poor form that very few, even among those who pre-ordered the ultimate addition would want. You got your gems, goodies and ability to try out the game before those who didn’t pre-order, that was your prize for buying it.
The number of maps isn’t the single biggest issue for me, it’s what new content in general will be added. Things I can do such as ‘challenging group content’ that will be what I’ll decide on purchasing the HoT expansion on. Content, not number of maps. If I think it’s too little I’ll wait till it goes on sale, if it’s enough I’ll shell out the 50 dollars for it, it really that simple.

You guys should compare WoW expansion reveal to HoT, or even ff14 heavensward. Most of MMORPG are vague about their expansion too, there are no weekly live stream about the content neither weekly detailed blog post. Just check wow MoP reveal page, all they did are listed features and a very short portion of the reveal video and that’s pretty much it. How much more do you guys want? Anet won’t tell you every detail neither but that’s the same with every game expansion ever. People are having ridiculous expectations and it bothers me.
Well I won’t pretend to speak to everyone, but simply saying how many new maps and new dungeons/fractals there will be for me would do quite a bit to ease my mind, and I just mean bare-bones info really. I don’t need to know every single detail about the expansion. If it seems to have enough content from that, even without details I’d probably pre-purchase the expansion. I don’t think I’m wanting too much personally. However perhaps you disagree. XD
you are being ignored. this is the same stuff they always say. “we read your thoughts”.
and now? do you think they will change anything? they wont, because money is all they care about.how many times have they talked about communicating with their players? how many times have they said they will improve it? and how many times did they actually improve it?
In the end I’m as cynical as you are. Only time will tell if they’re listening or not though. We shall see. I think the backlash is worse than what they thought it’d be honestly, so that may change things. It’ll depend on the pre-purchase numbers as well. If they’re coming in fast enough that they feel confident in meeting whatever arbitrary projections they had for the expansion they’ll probably do little, if it looks like sells will fall short, or future player retention will be adversely effected they may do something, who knows?
The marketing team lead said that the 50$ with core-game is to make it easier for new players to transition into. Just as I outlined.
PSA: someone messaged me in-game calling me names and stuff and the person didn’t even comment on anything I posted so I want to say I hope I am not offending anyone, even though I don’t really know where I could have. Probably don’t need to apologize.
It’s the internet, you can bake a cake and someone will be offended at you.
Oh I see you used WHITE icing. Racist.
Seriously though, I think, the issue is that what has been revealed to most doesn’t make 50 dollars for the expansion look like a good deal. You may say ’You’ve gotten thousands of hours for free, don’t be selfish’ but people aren’t paying 50 dollars, or 45 Euros for the time they spent before. Even those who’ve never never spent a dime on this game beyond buying it have probably spent gold on gems to buy char slots/whatever else they need from those who’ve spent actual money on it, which is still a ‘service’ of a sort for those who’d rather spend money than grind gold, therefor keeping ‘whales’ in the game dropping cash. If you think chasing off these players is good for this game, you’re sadly mistaken. (This is addressed at the general population of people calling others entitled, not any one person)
As for me, I plan to wait a bit, see what else is revealed. If it doesn’t appear to be worth it, I simply won’t buy it. It really is that simple. I understand people venting here, but that is the one thing that they will really notice. Numbers coming up short of projections. For the record I hope they do in fact show that the expansion is larger than I’m expecting, I like the game and wouldn’t mind personally sinking in 50-100 dollars if the expansion is something I feel I can sink my teeth into.
Its a much bigger expansion then we expected.
Veteran players do not typically get “discounts” or “rewards” for expansions.
People had no problem paying extra for Alphas and Betas prepurchase packages in other games IE Archeage (which were much more expensive.) Diablo makes you buy both the core and expansion seperately.
The sad part is the only “mistake” Anet made is allowing new players to have the core game for free. By the reasoning on these threads, they should of charged seperately for the core game, as they did in GW1. Everything was seperate.
I want the Devs and people who work on this game to know, I am sorry that people feel entitled. They can’t appreciate this game as truly free to play. Your expansion is actually bigger then I expected, and I am blown away by what you are doing with guild halls.
Its beautiful, thank you for putting such passion into it.
Funny thing, you call the players complaining ‘entitled’ I’m sure more than one of them will call your post ‘white knighting’. Can we just admit that some of have different opinion? Comparing what many of us, myself included, consider a bit too high of a price point to a cash-grab that most players regret doing such as an Archeage pre-order is just silly in my opinion. Saying that something people think is poor marketing isn’t bad because something else was worse does little good, how about instead of lowering standards we raise them? In the end until we know what kind of content will be released we don’t know if the 45 Euros or 50 dollars will be worth it to each of us, that’s why I’m waiting to see what else they reveal before I decide if I’m spending the money, and on which pack.
