I already reported this bug in the bug section. This is clearly a bug as Anet stated that this mastery should work in WvW a while back when they introduced it. I posted about it yesterday in the bug section and its already page 7 so I’m sure it’s gonna take a long time before they fix it. They have such a giant stack of bugs to fix with this expansion…

Right now, or at least before the massive nerf, traps were doing heavy dps – maybe too much – making other classes complain and leading to nerfs.

I would like to point that while traps do serious damage, a Dragon Hunter is playing naked when using them. Traps provides no condi clear, no healing via traits and only 1 stunbreak. If you don’t want the DH traps and builds to be “kill your enemy instantly or you’re dead” style, then reduce the damage while providing some survability options like condi clear on some traps or healing on activating a trap via a trait.

I don’t want to play a kamikaze dragon hunter but without substain that’s the only option left to us. So I think a good trade off would be to lesser damage a little bit on trap in exchange for some survability options like condi-clear and healing.

Healing is the most important thing for a guardian/DH because of the very low HP pool the class has. It’s way of staying alive is through healing and that’s why all the builds that are were “viable” were relying on healing to some extend (meditation builds, AH builds …).

So I hope we can eventually find a trade off that in one hand doesn’t insta kill people in pvp, and in the other hand helps the DH staying alive.

I’m talking specifically about the autoloot here. I wasn’t completely sure at first if this was a bug or if it was intended this way but I finally found quote from an Anet dev explicitely mentionning the use of this mastery in WvW.

It would be nice to have a fix soon. A lot of people are grinding this mastery specifically for WvW because of the frustration of the loot raining next to your dead body in a fight and that you can never pick up if noone is able to revive you.

you can get stealth using trapper runes on a trapper guardian. 3s of stealth when laying a trap. but it doesn’t work so well as you are revealed every time someone walk into one of the traps.

This sounds like a really great idea. Please Anet add this. It’s indeed really frustrating to spend a lot of time figuring out a way to get to a HP, just to realize it’s locked.

Also as a warrior, why not using endure pain when you know you need to trigger traps to engage a Dragon Hunter ? If the DH wasted all his traps at once then he should be easy to kill.

you don’t take full damage every 0.75s. You take damage when you cross the boundary, either getting in or getting out. Let’s say you jump in the trap to contest a cap but then stay inside the circle to fight during the duration of the trap, then you will only take damage once – when you got in.

A trapper DH will also melt against any condition build… There is always gonna be some builds that hard counter some others.

As for fragment of faith there was a nerf in the last patch to add a 0.75s cooldown on the crossing damage. So basically if you trigger the trap and dodge out instantly you’re only gonna be hit once.

Can you give the details of your damage log. Having played a DH for a little, there is definitely no trap that hit a player for 2*5k.
Also keep in mind that while traps are a decent dps option for guardians, going this path make them take a huge sustain sacrifice. Guardians have a ridiculously low hp pool (the same as thieves) and their way of staying alive is through healing. And there is no healing trait for traps like there is for meditations or shouts. There is also no condition removal from traps (directly or indirectly). So sure a trapper DH will hurt you but its a suicidal build and I’m sure the people who kill you also get killed a lot.

The second thing is that traps can only be laid at your feet. There is no option to throw them and DH have limited mobility like core guardians. Of course if the DH lays 5 traps at his feet and you run into them, of course it’s gonna hurt but you need to adapt and not instantly jump on them and take full trap damage.

All this to say that dps are only one of many aspect of the game and that all aspects need to be considered together. That said, on my dragonhunter I would be fine with some damage reduction on traps in exchange for some condi clear/stun break/healing. You gotta remember that a DH playing full traps is a DH playing naked.

That’s a simple question for Anet : Is this a bug or is it really intended ?

To me it feels like it’s in WvW that this mastery would be the most useful. Not having to constantly mash the loot button during a zerg fight would be nice and that’s why I went out to grind this.

Sure it’s a Tyria Mastery but since it also work in Maguuma Jungle it’s really surprising it doesn’t simply work everywhere. I’m inclined to think it’s a bug since when I go to the settings it’s both check and grayed out with a tooltip saying that I need to unlock the mastery to get this feature – even tho I do have the mastery unlocked. But I would like to have a confirmation from a dev.

I’m not sure if it has been said already but there is a bug with the Wings of Resolve virtue for the Dragon hunter.

The first time the user tries to use this virtue after it comes out of cooldown, the ground targeting will show green even if the user is targeting something wayyyyy too far but the skill will still fail. After it has failed once, the ground targeting will then work as intended only showing green if the target is in range and red otherwise… until the user uses the virtue, puts it on cooldown and as soon as it comes out of cooldown the bug repeats.

This bug can be really annoying when the dragonhunter needs to get out of combat quickly and the ground targeting doesn’t provide accurate feedback, causing the skill to fail and quite often the dragon hunter to die =(

Originally crafting a legendary weapon meant to play both PvE and WvW, I mainly do PvE so making badges for the Gift of Battle was really hard for me, should I have complained about it? I know that making Hero Points is another matter but I don’t understand at all why the WvWers want to never do PvE…

Legendaries are just some shiny toys that noone needs. I have played this game for 5k hours and don’t have a legendary because it just isn’t possible to make this kind of gold in WvW. It’s not totally fair but ok, let’s leave legendaries to people willing to heavily farm PvE. I don’t complain too much about that.

But here we’re not talking about useless stuff, we’re talking about unlocking character mechanics, skills etc… This should not be locked behind PvE grind… This system is just horrible.

Except some people do not care about PvE but enjoy WvW.
Those people had to pay 50$ as well to get access to the new specialization and now they are told that they need to either grind PvE or wait for months until they can collect enough WvW ranks. I don’t know how many people are in this situation but I know this really upset me.
It’s not because I paid for an extension that contains some particular content that I should be forced to play all of this content to enjoy a little part of it (WvW).

It’s like if you had to level each class in the game to level 80 to unlock elite skills for any particular class. This situation would be ridiculous, just like the situation above.

They are making hero point, which have been PvE only up until now, available in WvW. The very fact they are doing that already not makes this a “kitten you” to WvW players. Thats like getting an xbox 360 and being mad because it isn’t an xbox one.

Wtf is this argument? How is it supposed to be normal that playing wvw always reward less of everything compared to pve, and on top of that wvw players should be thankful because they still get something ? We already get very little reward, at least let us level our characters decently.

It’s pretty much like saying “Work is supposed to be for men so why are women complaining about being paid less. They should be happy to get anything…”.
That’s the exact same kittened up logic that starts with a wrong statement ( here “any kind of reward is meant to be primarily PvE…”).

I mean it would have been fine if it was 2 times, or even 3 times longer in WvW. It would still provide WvW players a decent way of leveling their specialization while playing what they enjoy. After all before that people could level and gain the skill points they needed doing wvw if they wanted to. They were not forced to do pve content with each of their alts. I don’t get the “hero points are supposed to be pve” thing … The original game leveling in the original didn’t work like this and hero points are just a replacement for skill points that people would get plenty of just playing WvW.

Here unlocking the specialization while technically possible is beyong reasonnable compared to pve (probably 20 to 50 times longer). Either the person who decided to require 5WvW ranks doesn’t realize the time it takes to get those, or Anet really doesn’t expect anyone to unlock their specialization through WvW.

If I understood things correctly, fully unlocking a specialization is gonna cost 400 hero points.

- 1 hero challenge (in Maguma jungle) is gonna reward you with 10 hero points.
- In the meantime 5 WvW ranks (+150 badges) are gonna give you 10 hero points as well.

Since the later takes many hours, I am wondering : are hero challenges in HoT gonna be extremely difficult and time consuming (like hours of play) or is it just gonna be a 5 to 30s thing like before and Anet throwing yet again a big “kitten you” to WvW players ?

BWE 3 Guardian Feedback (Core/DH)

This is my first time trying the DH so I can’t compare to previous versions. But being really attached to my guardian I played thousands of hours with, I can’t help feeling really sad. I think the problems with the concept of dragonhunter go way beyond minor balance issues. I know you’re not gonna do a complete rework of the DH, and most of us guardian players are gonna have to wait for the next specialization. But maybe our feedback can help improving it a little bit…

Traps
I don’t really know what should be done here but traps really don’t seem to work well with a guardian – if they work at all. Weak damage, only soft ccs, and not really fun to use…. Maybe boosting their effects to a decent level and making them throwable would help ? but even them I don’t see much reason for a guardian to use them over shouts and meditations that are really strong and synergize well with guardian’s traits.

Longbow
This part is not entirely negative. It’s actually nice to have an option for range as a guardian

Puncture shot :
The damage is ok and the cripple ability is nice, but it seems that ennemies need to be REALLY close for the arrow to bounce, or maybe it’s just my impression. Slightly increasing this radius would be really helpful. However the most frustrating thing when using it is how slow the attack is – I’m talking about the time between each attack, the projectile velocity is fine.

True shot :
Great damage and piercing ability, but being unable to move during channeling feels horrible and adds to the already frustrating low guardian mobility. we need to have attacks we can use in movement, but in that case the cooldown could also be increased to 6 or 8s.

Deflecting shot :
I’m not too sure about this skill. The overall feeling is nice but the skill itself is too situational. I also feel like it should freeze enemies instead of blinding them which would make it really good.

Symbol of energy :
The one thing that shocked me here is the REALLY slow missile velocity. It needs to be reduced.

Hunter’s Ward :
The casting time here needs some adjustment. As it is, beeing immobilized for 3 seconds for in the end not even being able to trap ennemies – because they are long gone – isn’ t rewarding. But the concept itself is good and if the casting time was reduced to something more reasonnable – like 1.5s – this skill could become quite good.

Virtues
Overall the virtues feel nice and refreshing – except maybe Spear of Justice that is a little weird. However just like with guardian virtues there should not be cast time.

Spear of Justice :
It feels like i’ts not working half the time, and when it does work it doesnt feel really good. I’m not too sure why it feels this way or what to do to make it better. Maybe once an ennemy is trapped he should be knowcked down if he tries to get out of the range.

Wings of Resolve :
I love this one. At least something that makes you feel like a guardian and that helps a little bit with guardian lack of mobility. The heal is quite good but the range is really poor. I think the base range should be 900, and the trait “Soaring devastation” should increase it to 1200.

Shield of courage :
Quite nice and in the guardian spirit but the cooldown is way too long.
Also there seems to be something wrong with the skill Bulwark. Increasing the radius of the shield seems to make it weaker imo. It should increase the surface of the shield to protect you from a bigger angle but not increase the radius.

Traits

I’m not gonna go through all the traits in details but DH traits feel very weak .There is no really strong GM trait, and nothing that synergize well with other guardian traits. I feel like 2 important things are missing in the DH trait :
- a trait that boost damages and reduce cooldowns on the longbow
- a trait that increases movement speed. This is really important for a range class

Hunter’s fortification :
Maybe should also remove a condition to allies ? or at least several conditions to the DH. We are talking about a grand master trait here … Should also give the damage boost for a few seconds after blocking an attack as a player will never be condition free for more than a fraction of a second in a real fight.

Piercing light :
Should immobilize when triggering a trap instead of dazing.

I investigated this last night and the claims are false. I found the person that was placing siege and terminated that account.

Also, remember that false reporting can lead to a suspension or termination of your account.

Terminating accounts for trolling siege seems really extreme unless it’s massively recidivistic offender O___O

An account termination is exactly what they deserve. We are not talking about one time trolling but large scale griefing that is affecting all the wvw players on the server. People are terminated for selling gold or using macros, I dont see how this is less of an offense.

However I would be very shocked if anyone got suspended or terminated for false reporting over what happened in TC bl yesterday. I am positive that there was more than 1 person involved in the griefing and I am just one of the many witnesses.

This whole troll siege naming thing was argued to death multiple times. Rams have other uses besides being on gates. Granted placing them around a supply depot is a sign of trying to waste siege, but even this has legitimate reasons at certain times (example, when trying to remove supply from a keep before it flips, although personally I have used ballis and trebs for this)

Additionally, I rather would not like the idea of my name plastered all over siege. What if you accidentally throw siege wrong, because you were in a hurry at the time? Now, you have people yelling at you for placing it poorly, calling you a noob, telling you to learn how to throw siege properly. Or, you only had regular Arrow Carts and used them in an attempt to defend a tower, and now your server is yelling at you for not using Superior siege, even though if you had not thrown the regular that tower would be lost? These are things that ALREADY happen, and having a name on them would make it worse. If I was in there and wanted to defend, but knew people would do this, I wouldn’t bother. This would open up even more trolling, because it would give people an easy target.

btw, screenshots, etc, while it can be used to show actions going on, are not what Anet would use to ban someone. They use chat logs, and in game behavior. mumble/ts/vent are all outside of the game, and therefore outside of their jurisdiction.

There is no tactical reason for building 25 trebs in garison and almost as many rams while openly trolling in mapchat and asking people for gold so they can transfer out of the server.

This is exactly what happened : 4-5 people from that guild drained garison supply from full to zero and kept draining as yaks came in. they built as many trebs as they could and then (after hitting the map siege cap) started building rams (rams dont count towards the siege cap). There is no way to mistake this with some mistake. Its not just one ram or one treb misplaced. They were openely admitting their griefing and inviting people to report them, feeling completely invulnerable. At that point me and practically everyone else on the map did report them and messaged the GMs. Those same people kept logging in from time to time to refresh the useless siege, as everyone else was instructed to let it despawn.

A few hours after all the reports, a GM showed up in TC bl (and I am really glad that Anet starts doing that, this is a big step in the right direction) but apparently failed to catch the griefers red handed and is now accusing everyone else of false reporting which seems crazy to me and all the people who witnessed them. I totally understand that GM can’t always be there to catch all the griefers, but they should really think twice before accusing people of false reporting. To my knowledge noone has been banned for “false reporting” in this story but it’s still very hurtful when you take some of your time to report people that are purposely ruining the wvw experience of others, and you get accused in return.

I dont know how many people are in that guild and how many are griefers. All I know and reported is that 5 people were openly greifing while repping that same guild. And today 2 of them were doing the same thing again this time in EB keep, building rams everywhere to drain supply and trying to position them in the most annoying way possible (for instance right on top of cannons or mortars)…

Rapid-Fire Mousebutton, legal?

So I am gonna share my experience here:

I was using a rapid fire button too, the difference being that mine would click non stop as long as I kept the button pressed. A few months ago I spent a whole week farming magic find to get to 300, so I was buying tons of greens and blues, and then salvaging them. In this process I was using my fire button a lot to consume the magic find, but also to cancel all my buy orders on the tp before making new ones. This was saving me a huge amount of clicks (the irony is that I killed my previous mouse playing gw2 because I was clicking too much).
Anyway, 1 day after reaching my 300mf, I was suddenly banned. It took me 6 days to get unbanned and the Customer Service never wanted to tell me why I got banned in the first place despite insistence in my mails, but I strongly believe it must have been because of this fire button. I know I didn’t misbehave in chat, I didn’t use bots and I never bought gold … so that’s my personal conclusion.

It might have been because I used it on the tp tho – I could see it generating a lot of cancel requests really fast and looking suspicious – or because I used it A LOT during that week – I was using it before but not nearly as much.

So anyway, just to be safe, I would advise you to not use it.

Labyrinth and Diminishing returns ?

I would like to know other people’s experience with this.

The lab is a very nice place to farm. However the diminishing returns (DR) seem to kick in extremely fast… I usually try to farm for 1 hour straight (to maximize boosters) with 500 magic find or so. But each time, usually after 40-50 mn, I don’t seem to be able to loot anything anymore. During the first 40-50mn, Ill get more or less a ToT bag every 2 mob, a large bag for every single legendary boss… Then when the DR start I only get a bag every 20 mobs or so, and I stop receiving large bags from legendaries (most of the time)…

I talked about it to some guildies but they don’t seem to have this issue. Do other people here experience something like this. I know about diminishing returns in the game but it should not happen so fast. Not being able to farm for a full hour seem a bit ridiculous. Could it be that because I farm with a lot of magic find (and get a lot of loot really fast), I get my loots nerfed faster ?

I was thinking of something cool that could be sold in the gem store. It would work exactly like the salvage-o-matic but instead of salvaging stuff, it would instantly sell the item on the trading post at higher buyer price for a couple coppers per use.

Alternatively it could “tag” the items you select in your bag and then allow you to sell them in one click from the tp (after seeing a listing of all the items tagged with the current price on the tp). This way would allow us to have an idea of the price we are selling at (which usually doesnt matter much when you wanna sell quick but might be useful sometimes).

So what do you guys think of this idea and how would you like it to be implemented ?

This matchup is obviously not fun for anyone, but come on YB … have a minimum of fair-play. Spawn camping with siege is really lame and I’ve seen it countless times in the last 2 days.

Very disappointed about that. A dev already mentioned on the forum that we would soon be able to buy liquid WXP with badges. Looks like he forgot to mention that this will require laurels…

This is a definite NO for me.
I do like the new mechanism but these new objectives should offer some other kind of rewards, not a crazy buff like this. The devs keep claiming that they want a better balance in the game and that achieving that is complicated. I totally agree that it’s difficult, but it also seems obvious to most people that this buff is a big step in the opposite direction.
Like other people I would like the idea of a significant mf, xp and/or karma buff instead, that would be available both in WvW and PvE. This would give more rewards to the dominating team, but wouldn’t break the matchup even more.

I think this buff thing is a new example of ANET recent policy concerning new content. They work hard to design new content and they want people to actually play it so they add excessive rewards. This was the case with Scarlett invasion in PvE, and now it’s the case again in WvW.

I totally agree with this post. This is the biggest aberration in this patch.
I appreciated though that they decided for once to make all resources available from WvW but the balance between all of them is terrible. I took 2 keeps today and I got 8 dragonite ore in total. It means that in order to get an ascended weapon from WvW you need to take over 125 keeps. It would take months to get a single weapon and it’s totally unfair in comparison to PvE players … After the previous patch that was giving away an enormous amount of resources to PvE players and this, I really have the feeling that despite all the nice talks about fair rewards in WvW, the game keeps taking the opposite direction.

Haha yeah those updates with a 2 minute notification are very annoying. The other day we were preparing for a golem rush. A bunch of golems were already ready when suddenly “New built coming soon. WvW is closing…”. Of course all the golems were gone after the patch. So this is a big problem for 2 reasons :
1 – we need a notice way ahead when you’re gonna close down WvW servers
2 – siege weapons should not disappear randomly like this. It’s not only about golems, a keep or a tower can be heavily relying on a bunch of sieges already built for its defense. ANET aknowledges that siege weapons are an important part of WvW, so the possibility of all siege removed from the game at any time can really kitten up everything.

Here is a beautiful example of sf stupidity : their whole zerg camping our wp for no reason…
They were not trying to prevent us from reinforcing a tower since we had already lost everything in this map.
They didn’t capped all the map so they could still attack the blue part.
But no, they would just stay here with their zerg and build balistas in front of our wp.
I wonder what kind of commander does that -_-

So, SF, what are you looking for in this match?

Friday….

So….you aren’t going to play until Friday, you’re going to spawn camp us ’till Friday, what?

Friday hoping that we get a better roll, you guys put up a good fight, but we can’t get better fighting the same people/outmanned people every week.

It breeds bad habits on our side…people think WvW is just run to a tower, throw 2 rams, cap it, move to the next.

Then we move up and it gets harder, they quit. So we need to keep getting better, not PVgate all week.

Just a random suggestion but why don’t you try to split your forces when the 2 other servers are outmanned ? this way you would have more challenging fights on different sides of the map instead of moving in a giant ball that run through everything because you have 3 times more people. There are a few hours in the day when we (ET) can put a fight against your zerg but most of the time it’s just like this. Honestly over the last 2 weeks I really had the feeling that sf was enjoying rolling over people who can’t do anything more than fighting fights that are a little challenging.

We like to not really have more than 2 commanders on a map at once, which usually ends up as being 1 commander.

We do try to split the zerg, because I really hate trying to finish off Blue keep, and have people crying out for Anzalas being attacked…

I favor the “zone-approach”, having a commander at each 1/3 zoning it off, with a 3rd havoc group roaming to support either. Just always dont have the people for that.

Well in this matchup you do have the people for it but you just don’t do it. So to us it looks like the majority of sf only want to roll over smaller armies rather than to have a fair fight. I say the majority because I’ve often seen VS fighting on their own apart from the main zerg, and they are not afraid to fight with equal numbers or even with a number disadvantage.
The rest of sf however won’t fight if they don’t have at least twice the numbers. It’s ridiculous how many times we took Anz and Mendon totally undefended while sf was busy attacking blue keep with 50 people against 10 defenders.

The comment was directed at your inability to win fights while you aren’t PvDing. Also, look at the points, SF is at 55k points, which is a whole 15k more than the next top leading NA server. That means both ET and AR are getting owned. Nothing to be proud of here, no matter your temporary strength at this moment.

We did win a lot of fights and probably so did you. We just have the exact same problem you have : time when we just don’t have the people to do anything. So sf pretty much dictate the pace of this game.
My comment was provocative because I didn’t like the tone of that message but I honestly find it pointless to trashtalk in this forum, especially between 2 servers in the same situation.
So let’s just do our best, respect other servers, and enjoy the fights we can have in this matchup without a 3:1 ratio between armies.

GG ET, thanks for the free badges and the 5+ golems you jus gave us at garrison in ARBL. I guess u cant take back your borderlands oviously cause ya all scared off getting wiped by SF. So thanks in advance for the badges you will give us in ARBL the rest of the week.

That’s funny last time I checked the map we had 4 fortified keeps while AR had 5 points : a camp in ET borderlands. We sure are not a strong server in WvW but that’s ironic to get this kind of comment from a server that is doing even worse.

Today I have to say I’m impressed !
Before that I had always seen SF stomping us with rather unorganized zergs that just outnumber us 3 to 1, and take everything they want with numbers. Nothing really exciting here.
But today I saw VS fight on our Borderlands (ET), and those guys are freaking good. Setting traps, maneuvering as a compact ball and totally wiping groups of equal numbers. Congratz guys

Personally I absolutely love the look, the atmosphere and the level design of this new zone.
It is so sad however that the new skills are really bugged for people who have some latency. The whole jumping thing is really fun when it works, butincredibly frustrating when you keep falling and dying because of bugs.

Don’t bother with BlueSoda and VinylScratch. Those people have been explained many times what this mini game was like for people outside the US and/or with high lattency : basically you just fall every other jump for absolutely no reason. It’s not a slight disadvantage, it’s a gigantic one that makes it impossible for those people to get the achievement in normal conditions. So stop being idiots repeating that people needs to train to compete with you. Fortunately most people who can play in normal conditions know they are being lucky and that’s why they want to help others. Big thanks to them

Here is a very good reason things are what they are : to prevent people who really outnumber their opponents to stay at their spawn point and farm them. I’m pretty sure it doesn’t take hours to refill your WXP value, and if the guy died a bunch before you killed him, it’s probably because his server is being outnumbered, or because the guy is a sub 80 who doesnt really know how to play. Either way, killing him isn’t a big achievement.
