Sometimes I wonder if we even play the same version of the game as the Dev’s.
I mean no disrespect, I admire all the work they do but when it comes to Necro in PvE it has always been in a bad spot, always! (outside of the short lived Minion gimmick in raids)
The ‘meta’ has ebbed and flowed when it comes to dominant professions but one thing has been consistent since launch and that is Necromancer never being needed or wanted, merely tolerated at best or out right shunned at worst.
We (the players) have tried to voice what the problems are and how they could be fixed, maybe not always in the most constructive sense but five years of feeling ignored can do that. It seems to always come back to Necromancer needing to fit this “theme” and suffering because of that. It ‘needs’ to be a selfish class etc.. but why?
I’m not going to lie, I was hyped for Scourge, I heard Necromancer and Support Allies in the same sentence, I thought Anet had finally listened.. but after play testing during the weekend I have to say I’m left disappointed. Sure we got barrier and a lot of this can change based on how viable and needed it actually is but outside of that what is there? From what I can tell there are some might stacking potential which multiple classes already do but nothing along the lines of Grace of the Land, Glyph of Empowerment, Spotter, Spirits, Banners, Alacrity etc..
Please don’t hype it in your live streams as finally giving Necromancer the support ‘niche’ it’s been needing since launch that “couldn’t be given for free” due to power creep when outside of barrier there isn’t any meaningful support there.
Right now I’m just hoping the damage is at least there on this supposed support spec.

How is Ele a contender? How can our 2 conditions compete?
Because the only condition that really matters is burn and we apply that rather well.
Tempest has a rather good condition build, I remember it being posted not long ago. Here is the link https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/elementalist/Condi-Tempest-Build-for-PvE-22k-DPS
The single most interesting skill to me was Heat Sync and they destroyed it. Why do we need more ways to share might and fury? Hello ‘Persisting Flames’…
I keep hearing about how broken being able to share quickness, resistance and aegis is but Mesmer can already do it via a trait and utility. We should at the very least be able to also share the boons we give from Elemental Attunement.
Tempest gave us a couple NEW things that we weren’t able to do before but slowly they took them away. First was the removal of boon rip from Wildfire and now any meaningful boon share has been taken away also, until we are left with the same exact stuff we had to begin with, just wrapped up differently.
Please reconsider.
Is this still not fixed? Six days since HoT launched and an entirely bugged skill is still… bugged. At least it’s animation got fixed ^.^ /s
I personally don’t understand the nerf to Heat Sync. It was one of the single skills on Warhorn that interested me and actually gave Elementalist something new, now it’s just another Might/Fury bot skill that doesn’t even do that currently.
If it was because of being able to share Stability and Quickness (Which Mesmer can do via a trait and a utility) then just take those out but I don’t see the issue with Protection, Swiftness and Regeneration; all of which Ele can already give to others.
For fractals specifically? Or just in general. Overall I would recommend Staff to be your first priority, it’s the most widely used weapon in PvE that is and is the current ‘meta’ build. Dagger/Focus would also be a pretty good idea for high level fractal content.
All in all, Elementalist’s do not have access to that many different weapon types. So it isn’t that much of a hassle to craft them all.
Yes, there will be a second generation of Legendaries with Heart of Thorns but only three will be available along with the release of Raids (not the expansion launch). Those three are the Staff, Axe and Pistol. You can read more about it here https://www.guildwars2.com/en-gb/news/hot-new-legendary-weapons/
As for Legendaries on Elementalist, I couldn’t really choose just one. I’m a little bias since I have them all but I will say I use Incinerator and Bifrost the most.
In the case of Warhorn, I haven’t seen much that interests me (apart from Heatsync) to take it instead of an off-hand dagger or focus. If you craft Incinerator you will be able to use it as both a main hand and an off-hand, where as Warhorn will only be an off-hand.
At the end of the day, craft whatever you like the most.

Mesmer’s signet of inspiration works the same way than Elementalist’s heat sync . Please do not change Heat Sync.
I cannot express this enough, please leave Heat Sync as it is. Currently Mesmer has a utility and a trait that does the exact same thing. We do not need another way to share might. The current Heat Sync gives Tempest something unique that Elementalist can’t do and makes Warhorn much more appealing.

Wasn’t it only the first three that didn’t have a Wednesday reveal? Tempest did.
I’d love a decent elite skill, something along the lines of this. A moveable storm that uses the same tech as Ventari’s Tablet.
Warrior has had a Sinister build using S/S-Longbow but it was used mostly for solo in PvE.
All I’m going to say is Tempest offers nothing new. Burn, healing, regen, might, it’s all things we could already do and do well. I don’t want a new (worse) way to play D/D, I’ll just play good old D/D. How to change Tempest? I’m not sure with it’s current state, I can’t see it bringing anything new to the table.
This is just my opinion which can be taken with a grain of salt because I would have been happy with a REAL auto attack chain and overloads being more like ’Enchantment’s’ to empower you and your attacks.
So Tempest is the ‘new’ healer, aren’t we forgetting about Ventari Revenants, who the devs stated is the closest thing so far to dedicated healing.
I still believe they shouldn’t have abandoned the concept of Sword, we don’t need another D/x build or something competing with offhand Dagger or Focus.
I still love the idea of that one data-mined sword skill in fire (think it was from the auto attack chain) where you gained endurance on hit. Overloads could have been enchantments/buff that empower your sword (or other main hands), for example fire giving you might on hit but right now I’ll settle for Tempest just being half decent.
That’s because tempest went over many, many iterations and sadly Karl overshot it
I still wonder what plans they had for sword at one point.
“Transmuted legendary precursors will not be recognized as such in the Mystic Forge. This means they cannot be used to create a legendary weapon.”
Source – https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Transmutation
Not sure if it’s still correct or not.
Bring back sword!..
(I will never forget that we had a chance of getting sword at some point)
5.
Just more AoE and more support…
‘RIP Ele Sword, you died too young.’
Why do people keep comparing Sword to Dagger? Dagger is not a true Melee weapon, it has 300-600 range skills and no real auto attack chain, it’s not the same! Yes it’s close(ish) range but it doesn’t make it a melee weapon, I’d class it more as a close/medium range caster weapon.
I imagine sword being more 130 range with auto attack chains, that is a melee weapon.
Doesn’t really matter since it seems Warhorn is rather likely, just getting tired of reading “We already have a melee weapon, we don’t need another (sword)”.
I will always prefer the idea of Sword compared to a Warhorn, the animations alone would have much greater potential with a sword and lets not even mention how awesome Bolt would look (I’ve wanted to wield bolt on my Ele for so long!).
Sadly I’m pretty sure they were toying with the idea of using sword (hence the placeholder skills) but in the end it didn’t work out for whatever reason and they settled with Warhorn.
RIP Sword Tempest, I’ll never forget how amazing you could have been.
I totally agree. I was super excited when I saw that Sword Elementalist was actually a possibility, I’ve waited a long time for it. My heart sunk a little yesterday when I read that Warhorn may be on the table. Please Anet.. just no, go back to sword.
(edited by Autumn.8043)
Actually there is rather a lot of evidence that we are getting a Warhorn (I have to agree with others, it sucks). A Warhorn skin has been datamined with a water/cloud theme, you can find out more on Reddit.
Sadly most of the data-mined sword skills were placeholder dagger skills, so it’s perfectly plausible for them to have decided to scrap that idea and go with Warhorn instead.
I believe the skills were found under ‘sword’, so I’m pretty sure they are sword skills with place holders since they may be the same as Dagger but they have different ID’s.
Mist Angels are still recruiting. If you’re interested, come check us out over at http://www.anook.com/guild/mist-angels and fill in an application.
Like Gator said, the legendary’s aren’t created equally (which I think is a mistake). Take the Minstrel and The Flameseeker Prophecies for example, neither of them even have footsteps/footfalls.
I wouldn’t mind a weapon swap that can only be used when out of combat, would help on the convenience side of things.
I would love for tornado to be changed. So instead of turning into one, you can summon it, similar to Trillia Midwell’s. They must already have a similar skill, since she does it.
Or a ‘Signet of Arcana’, not sure what the Passive/Active would be.

Hello everyone!
I’m 20 years old male from the UK who has been playing GW2 for the past two years. I’m looking for a guild that is active, friendly and has organized dungeons/fractals. Not necessarily elitist but not overly casual. Basically just using the right builds for the job.
One thing you might want to know about me is that I do have social anxiety so I can be quiet around people I haven’t had a chance to get to know and I do worry about messing up.
Over the past two years I’ve played Elementalist. She is in full ascended (Armour, Trinkets, Weapons), has three legendaries, 100% map exploration and dungeon master. I’ve never ‘farmed’ AP but I’m close to 11k (about average for the time I’ve played).
I also have Mesmer, Guardian, Thief, Necromancer and Warrior. Most are in full exotics but I don’t play them very much :P
I hope there is a guild out there for me, thanks
Elementalist has been my ‘main’ for two years now. I have full ascended armour, trinkets, weapons and three legendaries. I also have 100% map exploration. So I’ve kind of come to a stand still when it comes to progress for the moment.
I was thinking of levelling up an Engi and working on some ascended for it. The reason I was thinking of Engi was for the complexity of kit swapping. I get rather bored with professions like Warrior.
Is engineer a good choice? I mainly run Fractals/Dungeons and some PvP. What type of build should I aim for, I like the look of P/P but it seems to be for condi spec.
Hello Anomica.
Not sure if you’ve decided on a guild or not but MistAngels could be of interest to you. We’re a relatively small casual, social guild, where no one is ‘just a number’. We try out best to create a relaxed, cosy and familial atmosphere, where everyone is happy and enjoying themselves in whichever aspect of the game they like.
We’re based on Piken Square.

Hello NovaDuck,
It sounds like you’d fit in perfect with MistAngels. We are a casual, social PvX guild based on Piken Square. Our mission is to create a relaxed, cosy and familial atmosphere. We do use Teamspeak but members aren’t forced to use a mic, they can simply listen We’ve been going since October 2012 so we have all upgrades completed.
I myself suffer from acute social anxiety. I joined MistAngels nearly two years ago and I’m glad I did. It’s helped me grow as a person and given me much needed confidence, I can now use my mic!

7/10 – Love the hairstyle and Aetherblade top but not sure about the pants, T2 might look nice, I don’t know much about Human Male light armor.
Here is my Ele Autumné, she’s been my main since the very start. My first ever level 80, first 100% world completion, first legendary created for her.
Hello Alberto,
Sorry for the late reply, I forget to check this thread sometimes. That isn’t a problem at all, we don’t require our members to be online everyday. All we ask is that when you are online, to try and join in with any guild activities that may be taking place.
Hope that helped clear a few things up.
Mist Angels are still searching for active people to join our lovely guild

I love the hair ^^ but you look like more of a Necro to me.
My Ele, using the Ancestral Outfit. (I normally wear something different)
Managed to defeat her last night, didn’t take too long. Was nice to earn something that required only myself and not a zerg.
I’m guessing a lot, I have 4 80’s but whenever I get something good It’s goes on my Ele. I crafted Bifrost & Minstrel for my Ele, Ascended Zerk armour and my original Exotic zerk armour. I’ve been through multiple rune sets, Traveler, Divinity, Strength. Full ascended zerk trinkets and some other stats.
I’m not even sure to be honest.
Honestly, some people are ‘blessed’ by the RNG Gods. Some people In my guild have had 8+ Precursors from the Forge, other have had multiple drop. Whilst some have yet to have seen one drop.
Hi Solus,
Yes, we are still going strong. We’d love to have you as a trial recruit, It sounds like you’d fit In perfectly. I’ll contact you In game or feel free to contact me – Autumn.8043
