I’ll just leave these NPC only cultural armors here, just in case a developer stumbles into this topic. -wink wink-

[SUGGESTION] Design a Weapon/Armor Contest
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Baktwerel.9108
ALL OF MY YES!!!
As a fellow artist I’ve been actually waiting for ANET to announce something like this for years, alas nothing so far. It would be really awesome if they held armor and weapon designing contests (perhaps with different categories like weapon set, armor set for all races/armor classes, individual weapons, individual armor etc.), I’d take part in all of them and flood them with my designs! Crossing my fingers for some devs to find this topic and at least consider the idea.
YES!! YEEEEESSSS!!! All of my YES!!
I was soooo hoping to see the dinosaurs return in GW2 and finally it will happen! I am squeeling like a schoolgirl!
Please A-Net, give rangers the opportunity to tame some dinosaurs (even if just raptors first)!!
If I could create a (playable?) race out of thin air for GW2…. I’d go for a lizardman race. This race would be very distant (and not so legless) cousins of Krait, and they’d be probably an amphibian race who used to revere elder dragons on a yet unknown continent. However soon they realized that nothing good came from that sort of thing and fled to Tyria, only to find the other races (just like how Quaggan and Largos appeared out of nowhere). They could have semi-aquatic villages maybe, similar to the Quaggan but more elaborate. Their theme would be tribal/voodoo maybe. Similar to the Tengu, the males could be more colorful but slightly smaller than females. I don’t know if they’d fit the lore or not or whether we need more animalistic races, but I sure wouldn’t mind such a race.
So far this is what I liked the most, from “this thread”:
http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/9874-capesrepresenting-your-guild-what-would-you-like-to-see/ in a fansite forum.http://s1108.photobucket.com/user/Baktwerel/media/capes_2.png.html
http://i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h413/Baktwerel/capes.png
I deliver the images of capes, if like me, people do not see the links appear.
I think the back could be in great cape! diverces or styles of coats. Even coat with hoods!
We can find full of ideas for adding in Accessories. Personally, I’ve always loved wearing the cape on gw1. Especially in the snow maps.
Hey, I’m the artist behind those cape concepts. I’ve only posted them at the GW2 Guru forums and a good while ago too (before release I think?). I was really surprised to see it still circulating in cape related topics, this makes me happy.
I really wish we had a variation of capes like those. The idea behind them was that even if we play as a nonhuman race or have clipping-potential armors eqipped, we could still try to pick other designs that work with our current character. Be it a huge cape, a fashionable scarf or just a buttcape if you are into that xD Thanks for posting my doodles, I hope some Anet devs will see them and the other pictures posted in this thread!
I would probably buy some cultural armors and spoil my 9 characters with the best armors and weapons available. Of course I would also share the gold with my fiance, maybe secretly buy all his characters the best armors or even convert some gold to gems and if there’s enough left, buy him nice stuff from the gem shop like new character slots. I’d probably also buy rare dyes and minis for friends.
I’d rather have those black skelks as ranger pets. Them and gryphons, raptors and the real river drakes (black with orange stomach). Skelks have been tamed and trained by charr already, gryphons and raptors are ogre pets too…. so why not ranger pets too? I’d be happy with minis too, though…
“In brighter times, Elonian prides gathered around massive “ancestor trees,” where they believed the spirits of their forebears watched over them. According to arcane scholars, the fruit of these trees was seen as divine, possibly as a way to pass down spiritual wisdom from one generation to the next. " From the GW2 wiki on Centaurs.
Back in GW too, I recall Centaurs having a big tree at their home that they considered almost holy.
I think I have made a thread about this last year, still fully support the idea. Here are all the “cultural town clothes” NPCs are wearing and aren’t available for us, players.
It would be nice if we could buy them for gold in game to enhance our cultural looks some more.
You shall fear Vegetarr!
That is the only legitimate way of using that hairstyle. I applaud you, that is pure genius and I have a hard time trying to stop laughing. Good job!
-Playable Tengu (It’d be stupid if they stayed silent after LA was invided right next to them. It’s about time they open their gates.)
-Dinosaurs from GW1 returning (Sure, we have the raptors but I’m talking about the rest that used to live around Rata Sum. Hopefully they aren’t extinct and live at the wastes now.)
-Lots of new armors, weapons, costumes and some new pets for rangers
Please let there be still dinosaurs!
Also if only the Tengu finally got themselves together from having a city invaded right next to them and they’d step outside their walls. A player can dream, right?
-Playable Tengu!
-New maps, if Maguuma maps then with dinosaurs like in GW1
-Lots of new armors and weapons
-Player housing/Guild halls
I can just hope that after LA was invaded right next to them, the Tengu will finally step outside and ally with the other playable races. It’s like, what are they waiting for at this point? Are they gonna sit there and wait for Scarlet 2.0 to knock on their doors next? And what is Anet waiting for? The Tengu were almost included from the start as a playable race, surely they still have all their customization and cities/maps.
You are not the only one missing and wanting that armor, I’ve set my eyes on it ever since we had the concept art prior release. Alas I was an idiot and never managed to obtain it in PVP, especially as I rarely play PVP. Had I known that one day I could use my PVP skin in PVE, I would have probably spent weeks if not months in PVP just to get the armor. It would be nice if a developer could confirm it whether it will be available in some way or another again, because the current PVP tracks mostly only have dungeon armor as rewards. Crossing my fingers for some delicious Tribal Armor for us all.
Hiya, Qvi here! Sariel informed me on DA about this topic.
First of all thank you very much for your interest, I’m always happy when people like my artworks (especially my Asura artworks xP)
Secondly I’m afraid my commissions are closed currently but I will make sure to make it obvious over at DeviantArt when they will be up again. You can find me as Qvi there and send me private messages too. ^w^
Thank you for your interest again, looking forward to working with you in the future!
Oh nice, here are some of my random questions (please bear with me) :
Question 1 : Is there a reason lore wise as to why rangers of the playable races can’t tame Raptors, Griffons and Skelks? Raptors and Griffons are already tamed by Ogres and some Charr have successfully tamed Skelks in Nemus Groves (Diessa Plateau). Surely there is a reason for this!
Question 2 : Glorious Tengus. I’ve seen the rumors that they were originally meant to be playable too but were scratched in the last minutes. Can we get some delicious lore on them? What is life behind their walls like? The females are larger and probably physically stronger too but do they also have a more significant role in their society? What can we know about their houses of the winds? Can we expect them to become playable in the near or far future?
Question 3 : I love your books (Ghosts of Ascalon, Edge of Destiny, Sea of Sorrows) and I was wondering you ever planned to make machinima style movies out of them, using the in game models and graphics at high definition? Of course the expressions, movements and armors (like the ones Destiny’s Edge members wore initially before they got their signature T3 cultural armors) wouldn’t have to be tied to the game’s options. I value books over movies but for the first time I thought to myself, I’d really love to watch these books as movies. Or is this a silly/impossible idea? What are your thoughts about this? Alternately a more mature styled anime (as in not with big sparkly eyes etc.)?
Question 4 : I just remembered from the raptors how GW used to have all sorts of dinosaur-esque monsters even right outside Rata Sum. Are those still around just out of our reach? Have they gone through some physical changes? Will we see them again in GW2? I would sure love to!
Question 5: The book timelines mention that the Gargoyles dissapeared mysteriously without a trace. Such a thing doesn’t happen any day, is there a reason why they dissapeared and how? As in, what happened to them?
Thank you for reading my questions! Keep up the awesome job!
Hey everyone! I just got back home from a 4 day vacation and checked this topic to see what happened during those days.
First of all, thank you for everyone for giving feedback on this issue. I have submitted a report of some sort to Ebay the day I have posted this topic but thus far the only response I got from them is a spam e-mail about watches and shoes…
Since the fanarts and official game artworks are still up for sale, I’ll try to use that Vevo thingy again, hopefully with more luck this time. But even if I manage to get my own fanart off that guy’s listings, I want all the other fanarts and the official artworks removed as well (might as well get the guy banned since he only has stolen merchandise). As far as I know, the other fanart artists I could contact are trying to report the theft too, not sure about their progress.
Art thieves -especially ones that make profit out of theft- make me really mad, regardless whether I am involved or not. Hopefully this issue will be resolved soon.
-Leaves more cookie trays to attract some Anet developers-
-stares at Konig for a few minutes and slowly starts clapping-
You had me at kittenslapping Trehearne x,D
I am sorry about double posting but the culprit is still selling official GW2 artworks as well as GW2 fanarts on Ebay. As far as I can tell he removed the tags from the GW related works so they cannot be searched but when I click the links I have, the artworks are still there. This guy needs to be stopped, if anyone can help that would be awesome.
Leaves cookie trays to attract some Anet developers
One of the artworks is in fact from my DeviantArt gallery but thus far I had no luck using their reporting system. I’ve managed to get a formal message go through somehow and now I’m awaiting a reply while contacting the other artists whose works I have recognised and waiting for a dev to find this topic.
Here’s a screenshot from part of his listings: http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2013/235/3/2/notcool3_by_qvi-d6jd4hn.png
Thanks for the feedback, I’ve edited the link and added some more plus the name of the user if it’s easier to find his listings that way.
I’ve tried to use that Vero thing with no success thus far
Also if you can find the user and check out their listings, it’s full of presumably stolen material from various franchises, you’ll need to specifically search “guild wars” among his listings to find the stolen fanarts and official game artworks.

Hi all!
I know this might be the wrong place to post it but I really don’t know where else I could bring attention to this issue.
A kind person recently let me know that someone was selling a GW2 fanart of mine at Ebay and when I checked their listing I’ve found not only my artwork, but other fanarts some of which I recognised (and contacted the artists) and also official game artwork such as the artworks featured on loading screens.
Here’s a link to the user’s GW2 themed listings (his other stuff also seem to be stolen though) : http://bit.ly/178NhNo
A link to my artwork being sold: http://bit.ly/14L0MAF
A link to an Anet concept art being sold: http://bit.ly/17Q4NGd
Thief’s username on Ebay: desmond103
(Sorry for blacklisting but sharing his name might be the only way he can be found)
Now I am not very familiar with Ebay and I may not be able to properly report the user, but Anet surely can do something to stop this thieving.
I’d really appreciate any help possible, including drawing the attention of the developers to this issue.

But what about those who can’t create a new guild for personal storage??? I surely won’t deposit my gold as an offer on the TP.
If any Arenanet developer is reading this and it wasn’t answered/commented yet;
Can we please get some feedback on whether we will be able to store gold in the bank again?
It’s really dangerous to walk around with all our money, especially if an accidental misclicking could have you unintentionally spend most/all of it, which is not cool. Everything else about the wallet is awesome.
Meh I can’t do that because all the guild bank tabs are used. I won’t empty the guild bank just so I can store my gold in it. Anet better thinks of a solution soon.
If you are leader of the guild, just remove treasure trove permissions from everyone else, and you can use that part of the bank safely for yourself
You know, I might just do that but not happily (this isn’t how it should go). Gonna consult with the other admins first though since we use both tabs… This is by far not a good solution…
While I like the wallet for having all the tokens at the same place, I don’t like how we can’t store gold at the bank anymore. It’s not cool to have all my gold on my characters, I’m really afraid I might accidently spend it all by a misclick (which is why I usually had only 20 silver at hand and anything more went to my bank).
As to those who would reply suggesting me to create a storage guild, I can’t. The game doesn’t let me do that, possibly because I already have a guild that I have created and which has around 100 members. Not gonna store my gold there.
I really hope Anet will allow us to deposit gold into the bank again otherwise I’ll be in constant fear of losing my money due to an accident
I’m surprised that this is the only forum topic about Tengu under the Four Winds section. I mean, come on…. Four winds (which happen to be the tengu houses), bazaar with yet never before seen goods (they have dozens of trading goods in DoW hidden from us) … why wasn’t there a single mention of Tengu yet or at least some guessing topics??
Like any of these threads?
I have only looked at the forums themselves, but not google. Nice find, good to see I wasn’t the only one seeing the connection. Thanks for the search link!

That would be a reference to the infamous 55 Monk from GW1; a build which took advantage of having a tiny 55 point health pool protected by a special buff reducing all damage to 20% while maintaining healing buffs.
Wait, wasn’t there a “monk” girl with healing abilities at the effigy instance yesterday?? Is this some special commemoration on the old GW1 profession or sneaky hints of a new profession sharing the name? (not very likely, I know. Still, strange)
The male voice on female charr might not even be a bug, I’m fairly sure Anet mentioned it at least once that there would be female charr with male sounding voices, but it’s perfectly normal for them. In fact one of the first female charr we have heard sounded like a guy too and after the initial shock people loved the idea.
I’d love to replay my Asura’s final Infinity Ball quest as well as a very special (gigglesnort) quest involving Tybalt :P
As far as the Tengu go, this is how I imagine their customisation will be set up:
Plumage – The equivalent of “hair”. The Tengu are unique in that the males have brighter and more colourful plumage. Female Tengu are bigger than the males, but have drab plumage. (As such, it’s a reversal from the other races where the males are invariably bigger than the females.)
Beak – The equivalent of “face”. The different Tengu species have different styles of beaks, and within those beaks you could have shorter or longer beaks, more/less mandibles, and chipped/damaged beaks.
Feather patterns – The equivalent of tattoos/Sylvari glow. Players can choose a variety of feather patterns like dappled, sweeping or just a flat single colour, and dye it accordingly.
The player can then choose which ancestry of Tengu they hail from (Caromi, Avicara, Angchu or Quetzal). They also choose one of the Four Houses of the Winds (East, West, North or South) to belong to, and these choices determine their initial personal storyline.
I don’t really know enough about the Largos to speculate on their customisation or storyline.
These. All my want! I wanted to post what I’d look forward to in Tengu customization, but Zaxares pretty much already listed everything in my mind (in particular the male-female differences, which in my opinion would be pretty cool in contrast to the current races).
looks at ArenaNet with Puppy eyes
Charr sort of STILL hate humans. It’s the treaty that makes them fight alongside and the fact that Elder Dragons take a priority as enemies – and since they are shared enemies, they have to work together. I’m sure if you ask around some Charr NPCs, most of them won’t be happy about the treaty.
I can confirm that the exploding bridge is indeed this event http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Stop_the_Sons_of_Svanir_from_planting_bombs_on_the_bridge. During the first months after release I was randomly minding my own business on Snowden Drifts when I noticed the familiar bridge in the landscape. As I got closer I saw the New Event notice and that the Svanir were almost done with it, and since I couldn’t get there in time I just sat down and watched the bridge explode – just like in the Manifesto Trailer, only from afar and from a slightly different angle.
I also haven’t really seen a warband yet where the warband specific part would vary between suffix and affix (meaning that it can be both at the start and the end of the full “last name”). It’s either one or the other. In her first warband Pick was an affix and the charr specific trait came as the suffix. In Rytlock’s warband Stone is the suffix so her new warband name can only end in “….stone” but never start with it. Unless of course if there can be exeptions for which we would need examples from the lore.
Also, it’s quite likely that with a new warband they need to change both parts of the name and she had to earn “Whetstone” specifically for that warband and the “heart” part didn’t matter anymore.
Actually, new waypoints came in with the guild missions. Check Cursed Shore too and Straits of Devastation. If you are still missing some, just teleport to each map and see if you are missing a waypoint at the map completion summary.
That’s a rather interesting theory there :O It could be very possible too, since Sylvari aren’t affected by the other elder dragon’s corruption. So maybe Mordremoth’s corruption does affect Sylvari due to it’s plant based magic (as long as he is indeed the plant/poison themed ED), but then again he just looks more mean rather than something actually twisted. Seeing what icebrood and branded creatures look like, I think he should look even more sick/twisted if we are talking about an ED corruption. Though maybe he’s in an early state, who knows? It’s certainly an interesting idea though.
I’ve made a topic on this exact same thing too a few hours ago, good to see that more people noticed this too https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/livingworld/lwd/Canach-new-design
I wonder what’s up with the change :T
I’m not familiar with the first one but the 2nd and 3rd have been there since the start, so likely the first one too.
IF sylvari actually have that ability, which we still don’t know for sure yet. Maybe his old look was a placeholder or not finalized. Or maybe sylvari do have some interesting abilities up their leaves – shot for awful pun -
Sylvari can grow and shed their plant armor, for all we know they might be able to shed and regrow their hair, change their color and even shape/appearance simply because they are sylvari. Would be good to know if they could do that and what happened to Canach’s design.
As I was reading the news on Last Stand at Southsun and saw the sylvari, I’ve found myself wondering where I’ve heard the name Canach before since the design didn’t ring the bell… Then I’ve found him on the GW2 wiki where he has a completely different design (the one I actually remember from the last time).
I wonder, is this really the same Canach? Did his design change because he didn’t look evil or is he corrupted by the nightmare so bad that his look changed too?

I sort of thought the same, uknortherner. Was a little dissapointed, that we couldn’t get those town clothes, since almost every third screenshot we saw in blogposts featured at least one of them (though back then we couldn’t be sure whether they would be armor pieces or town clothes). Their lack didn’t and never will stop me from playing GW2…still, I would feel much happier if we would have access to them too. I know most players are all “meh” when they see new town clothes in the shop, but hey, these really do exist in the game already… ;P So maybe… -wink wink- I’m looking at you, Anet ~ -insert irresistible puppy eyes here-
Well, at least these are already in the game and just need to be made useable by players.
Ikr? The universal town clothes we get in the gem store are nice and everything…but they lack this unique racial vibe the above attached clothes have. I really hope we will be able to collect them for our characters one day, I’d love to give a turban for my asura or dress up my norn in the raven shaman clothes. Our humans could look more diverse too from street rat to noble and the charr and sylvari clothes would be awesome too.
Please, ArenaNet, at least consider this! The models already exist <3
I know there are “More town clothes” topics already, but this one would focus on the town clothes that are already in the game since day 1 – except only for NPCs.
In every major city you’d see NPCs running around in town clothes unique to their race, in multiple colors (so the dye channels should work on those too) and variations (mix and matching pieces).
I wonder if we will ever get these “cultural” town clothes for our characters, since there are many really cool ones among them and I’m sure that not just role players would be happy about them.
Perhaps since they are race specific, they could be another gold/karma(you name the currency) sink in the game or maybe they could be even hidden at certain vendors/NPCs (like that single one rugged town clothing head gear we have thus far from an NPC for helping them fix a vehicle)
It would be nice to know if we could possibly get them in the near or far future, I’d really appreaciate it if an ArenaNet developer would leave their opinion on this here.
Below you can see some attachments of most (probably not all) of these town clothes.
