The leagues have destroyed some servers by ruining their community. Yes, we know what to expect every matchup now but nothing can prepare us for zerg servers against which we lose no matter what we do. We’re tired of being the scrub of the silver league. We’re hoping to drop to bronze league next season. Or better yet, why don’t we just remove the leagues and go back to random matchups? The imbalance was a problem even before the leagues but now it’s much, much worse. This sucks. ANET, this was a horrible idea.

You can’t transmute level 80 items to items below level 80. But you can transmute a legendary item to a basic (white) level 80 item.

Say that to my level 7 Warrior with Twilight and bolt.

I also hope we can transfer legendaries between our toons easily without removing their legendary status and upgrades.

What I get from this is that it will have the same stats as the current highest tier of weapons (right now it’s exotic. My untransmuted Bifrost has the same PVT stats as an exotic Ghastly staff from AC, although my Bifrost is purple and the Ghastly is orange). When ascended weapons come out, the stats of my Bifrost will be auto-upgraded to match the ascended weapons stats.

I also have a Twilight that I’ve transmuted. It’s still purple and legendary but it says “transmuted” in its description. Will it be auto-upgraded too? I don’t know but of course I hope so. If it doesn’t get auto-upgraded it’s going to severely negatively affect my desire to make more legendaries and ANET doesn’t want that I’m sure.

Before these changes happened, we were in a tier with a server that always came out on top, week after week, month after month. The reason was they were more populated than the other 2 servers in the tier (or they were more of a WvW server while we were PvE). This was frustrating for the other 2 servers, obviously. Everybody knew the perennial number 1 server in the tier (Darkhaven) could do enough to move at least 1 tier higher, but always near weekly reset they would stop and rest so that they don’t move up tiers. They probably knew they’d be beaten in the higher tiers so they wanted to stay in our tier to be the bullies. The changes have gotten us out of this horrible, disheartening situation. Yes, this new system still has flaws but at least we have equal chances of going up against “weaker” servers as well as stronger ones.

Please post them here! I wanna see a lot of variety. Please include armor/weapon/trinket stats and runes/sigils. Thanks!

I really hope that if ascended weapons did come out, that my 2 transmuted legendaries would be auto-upgraded :P Otherwise I’ll quit this game.

I actually like random server matchups. More exciting, more unpredictable and I think we’re learning more as a server this way.

True story. I was in an AC pug (pick-up group, random people) on my first toon, a human necro. Then I heard the male sylvari voice for the first time and I thought it was the sexiest voice I’d ever heard in-game besides Logan. Later on I whispered that sylvari player and as we got to know each other, I learned he was a guy (I’m a girl). And I said his toon is sexy and, trying to make a pass at him I said, “I wonder if you’re as sexy as your toon.” He replied, “Yeah, I tried to make him as sexy as possible. I’m gay.” XD After that I made my second toon,, a male sylvari guardian, and it’s now my main.

Haha yeah, the first time I did it, it was in a PUG. We had 1 tanky warrior and the rest were glass. The second time I did it, it was a guild run and I was on my “anchor” guardian. No wipe happened on the second run. I was kinda disappointed lol. If Molten Berserker does make it to a mainstay dungeon path I hope they make his difficulty level the same as Lupicus.

I would love if they’d keep the dungeon itself… Either by keeping the dungeon as it is or adding it as a fractal, either way would be nice.. although I think my preference is as an actual dungeon.. although lore-wise it wouldn’t make any sense since we “stopped” the F&F alliance, so a fractal would be more appropriate in that sense.. but at the same time we’ve completed each of the dungeons multiple times and they all have stories attached to them that get repeated, so why should this be any different? I dunno… either way, this should stay!

Agree with everything you said. I hope they keep this dungeon. Even though we wiped a few times on Berserker it was still fun. That feeling of urgency we had when the countdown to explosion happened – it was very appropriate for the kind of game GW2 is.

I love him and I love trying to figure him out even while dying in the process. He reminds me of Lupicus. Anet, please don’t listen to the whiners who want everything nerfed to be easier. They already have their COF p1.

Haha yeah, but there’s not much incentive to do that either, is there? If I did that I’d just get my name on some board that nobody will notice unless I’m in the top 3 or my guildmates look for my name specifically.

Now what? A short while after my guildmates and I got what we sought out to achieve, we were still enjoying the game, running dungeons daily, doing the guild missions, WvW and world events including Temples. But dungeons and world events have become boring to us now and WvW a bit too futile and endless. I thought about maybe doing PVP tournaments which many of us haven’t done but pvp’s something to do when you enjoy it and there’s little incentive to do it.

Oh I don’t feel that at all. WoW is just…wow. I feel that I have more freedom in GW2. And I know my guildmates would let me play whatever class I wanted if I really wanted to, but I feel that it’s my responsibility to bring the “useful” class, especially with the newer players coming into the guild but that’s way out of topic. Guild runs are smooth and great but I love PUGs with all its craziness and diversity (plus it’s a great way to chat with people outside of the guild) but it seems PUGs just want me to be either Guardian or Mesmer. I wanted PUGs to be my chance to use my necromancer and the engineer I’m leveling. Sigh.

I wish each class had its own special niche in the game. Some of them do; like Thieves have PvP, Guardians have FOTM, Eles are said to be good at destroying sieges in WvW at long range. Mesmers are useful all around. And Warriors -well, enough has been said about this class. What about the other classes? The Engineers, Rangers, the Necromancers? I love my necro but I never get to play it anymore because people always want me on my mesmer or guardian.

Yeah man! But it’s something else. I lived in England for a few years but nobody sounded as sexy as my sylvari guy. I wish they’d make that water race (forgot the name, one of them was in storyline) playable so that we’ll have another sexy sounding race – sexy Russian fish people!

I’m usually on my guardian and mesmer because they’re the more in demand classes in the game. But necro was my first and every time I get to play it I remember why I fell in love with it and I realize that it is still my favorite class of the 3. Everytime I play my mesmer I hate why it’s so darn useful in the game. I haven’t grown to love it the way I grew to love the guardian, though necro is still my number 1. There’s a group of people that are hardcore necro lovers and I’m one of them.

When I started playing GW2 last year I quit WoW and never went back. I try not to nitpick GW2 because I still find it fun. I still login everyday and play, enduring bad lags and whatnot.

Right after the maintenance yesterday I was in fractals with a group from various servers. One of them quit at the last fractal due to 10 second lag spikes. The rest of us were having them too but not as severe as that guy. Then while we were lagging, most of my guildmates were complaining about lag. One of them retired early due to this. Today I had some lag spikes much worse than the ones I had before maintenance. I thought maintenance was supposed to make things better not worse?

Oh yeah, I saw another pet pig named “Dinner”. XD

I’d be happy with more challenging dungeons like FOTM and Arah. I’m okay with gear progression as long as there are many ways to get it.

A thief named Bren the Thief, a warrior alt named Warrior Bren, a ranger alt named Ranger Bren, an ele alt named Bren the Ele, a mesmer alt named Bren the Mesmer.

Saw a pet named Gang (guildname was Bang). And a pet pig named Tom Cruise.

Depends on where you wanna go. Thieves and eles aren’t really “in demand” classes but they’re welcome everywhere except in certain COF p1 parties. Both classes have anti-projectile skills so they’re good for FOTM. Thieves are desirable for Sons of Svanir and Dredge fractals.

I’m not sure I still understand why most people want at least 1 heavy armored class in their parties. Any class can take lots of damage, just depends on how they’re built.

I say keep the dungeons challenging. The jerks are in the easiest dungeon, COF path 1, and the nice people are in the more challenging ones.

I’ve leveled a human male and a sylvari male. Although the human may look more pleasing his battlecries just annoy me and his deathcry is just funny. Listen to a male sylvari and you’ll fall in love. Even after months of playing my sylvari I’m still not tired of listening to him. And I actually think he’s cute in an exotic kind of way.

By the way, I’m a girl so don’t give me those weird looks.

I found him boring until it was hinted (or was it just in my mind?) that he has a girlfriend. Then he became much more interesting. Of course being Sylvari he could be batting for both teams. I always giggle when he says certain things in cutscenes to my male toons. I wish anet would explore his romantic side more.

In a good group I can do speed run in 6 minutes. In your case your group did in 10 minutes.

Now let’s make some assumption. Let’s presume every cof speed run net 90 silver. So in 10 hours my group can make 90 gold. But in your group I can only make 54 gold.

As far as I can tell, there is a big difference between 90 gold and 54. Do you start to get it now?

Oh yeah, I get it. It’s all about efficiency. Like I said, they should have stated in their post they wanted a highly efficient mesmer that can let the party finish in under 10min, not the vague “EXPERIENCED ZERK MESMER. PING GEAR PLEASE.” Failed to mention this happened to me twice. The first 4-warrior group kicked me without letting me finish the run. I’d thought it was because their friend had suddenly come online. Of course the second time it happened with another 4warrior group I realized they were dissatisfied with my performance. Until that experience I hadn’t known there were players like these in GW2 and in the easiest dungeon path in the game of all places. The thing is, if they’d been explicit about what they were looking for I never would have had that experience and they never woud have gotten noob mesmers.

Completely agree. If the party starter had said, “LF highly efficient mesmer that let party finish in under 10min” I definitely would have stayed away.

If you don’t like speed runs why would you join one then come here to complain? You messed up the 3 main things a mesmer is in the run to do. A Mesmer’s job in CoF 1 is about as demanding as GW2 can get. Elitism =/= looking to play with like minded players, and you obviously don’t have the mentality that someone that could have learned the mesmer roll purely by observation on other classes. would. It’s not elitism just a mentality to play competitively and seek others to play with like that. It’s not their responsibility to teach you either, although it would have been nice if they did. A mesmer in CoF speed that isn’t doing their job is incredibly easy to notice so it’s a very vulnerable spot to be in if you are underprepared to be honest.

While over the top elitism is on one side of the spectrum there is also people that care so little and invest so little time that they become a burden and frustrating experience and can make playing the game much less enjoyable. GW2’s challenge bar is so low that even the most casual with the slightest bit of will power could bridge this gap.

To be absolutely blunt doing a few runs of CoF on any class would reveal almost all of the mesmer tricks purely by observing. I think the problem is your definition of your own experience and not that some people were looking to play with other like minded people, and wern’t trying to set up a mesmer classroom for you to learn.

You don’t even need 4 warriors but you do need a Mesmer mostly because from my experience you’re lucky if 1/5 people can do ball gauntlet without many attempts.

You’re right, they didn’t set up those speed runs to educate mesmers and we’re not as fast as you are at picking up little things by observing. I’m used to being asked to ping gear and when party leaders ask me how experienced I am I say I’ve done this dungeon path at least 30 times before because I have. But I didn’t expect to encounter those kinds of people in COF as I haven’t even encountered that kind of extreme elitism and rudeness in fotm 40+ parties.

I’ve realized that many people in the game are still willing to help (like one of the warriors in the party who responded and took the time to show me what to do). In the 6 months I’ve been playing this game that was really the only time it happened to me. Although those other people in the party don’t define a whole community it made me wonder if that was the direction the community was heading; such that new players will get kicked and berated by the more experienced ones and the newer ones are just supposed to take it if they want to play this game. This is what’s happening in World of Warcraft and it’s the reason why I decided to quit WoW for good after returning to it and finding that the community there was rather unpleasant and really unwelcoming to new and even rusty returning players like myself.

Sounds pretty ridiculous. I did around 100 pug runs and never encountered this. We also played with mixed groups. I almost always play guardian. I never encountered a) class limitations (ok let’s face it: guards and warriors are always welcome). Yet, even with all the stuff, we also had Rangers, Engineers whatsoever in our group. We finish often in 8-10 mins, so I simply can’t see any problems. From time to time, there are groups that may fail or die at some point. The run takes 1-2mins longer. Who the hell cares?

I do enjoy PUGs though, to be honest. I enjoy it because I usually learn new things from these groups which I then introduce to my guildmates. I also like the challenge. I did join the that COF speed run group because I wanted to challenge myself and be better with my mesmer after having already explored my guardian’s skills and capabilities pretty thoroughly by doing fotm 30+ everyday with random people of different classes. But that experience in COF was just really upsetting and that’s coming from someone who’s used to a lot of ranting and rage-quitting from party members as I was leveling my 2 toons in fotm. At least the ranters help sometimes by telling you what you did wrong. The COF party I joined didn’t help at all except for that one member.

Since when did that become derogatory? PUG just stands for “pick-up group”, a party of random people doing a dungeon. And I join PUGs every day for FOTM runs because most of my guildmates are not keen on doing it. I have joined PUGs since I started playing and I still continue to.
