They pretty much all were destroyed by charr or decayed naturally, minus the largest ones in game. Stated by several charr in ascalon.
Events are just unrewarding if you don’t need the exp to level up. At 80 its just 1,5 silver and 250 Karma or whaetver for 5-15 minutes and even that was nerfed now since we even don’t get a reward anymore when events fail.
So why should we do them when i just need to harvest a tree to get 4,5 silver in 5 seconds ?
Because fun? I mean, the whole point of a game is to have fun, not to be the richest. They are catering to the farmers because the farmers complain the most, but they are getting rid of the people who went back to low level zones because they look nice, or they like the story/events there, or they just like it. Now its all “Wheres train?” “Here.” and then silence for the next hour.
Did a quick skim over your post, will get more into it later. Some things that sparked my interest though:
Think of the dinosaurs. Where did they all go and who is most likely responsible for their demise?
I think Giganticus Lupicus are exactly that – the GW-version of dinosaurs.
In particular, I wanted to categorize the nature of (at least some) Elder Draconic corruption:
Very, very, interesting… My over-analytical mind says we are missing an ED under one of categories. If it’s Mordremoth we are talking about maybe she reanimates rotten plant matter (e.g. the champion rotting oakheart in Queensdale); again bringing to question this Sylvari immunity that they all seem too overconfident and flippant about.
That would give GW2 a nice over-arching theme of undead.
Dinosaurs existed in GW1 time… and were very alive.
Will we ever have a real expansion? The living story is a horrible substitute.
I’m just here to point this out: Steam creatures were from a possible FUTURE, and since some of the inquest now work for Scarlet, this may be the point in time they were invented and put to use. The alternate you doesn’t look that much older.
“I would expect at least some priests or devout followers of Melandru to know this passage, and starting to worship these Tree-children as being sent by Melandru herself.”
To worship (idolize) the Sylvari for their physical form without regard for their spirituality would be shallow. Sylvani spirituality and morality are tied into the ventari tablet, the pale tree, and the dream of dreams, all of which are alien concepts to a follower of Melandru.
If we destroy DR they may finally worship us…. GLORY TO THE TREE!
No sylvari has seen zhaitan up close, so the pale tree didn’t know what it looks like.
Maybe Anise is a disguise… The whole 2 professions thing isn’t around anymore, but what if sometime between then and now she learned mesmer skills? Or maybe Queen Jennahs doing the disguise for her.
I always thought of it in a way similar to the elevators in the grove.
Ps. I got an asura with your username. If you want the name Smeen, just reply and I will change it.
Tough question. On one hand, the 6 human gods used to give power to its believers and are proven to be real. However, nowadays for all we know they could be dead, and the only power they give are small magic boosts, which could just be a placebo and you’re channeling your own magic power. Dragons can grant insane amounts of power, but at the cost of your soul. The eternal alchemy is a nice idea, but it seems like that’s more of a science than a religion. Charr atheism seems to be distrust of magic, which in a world of magic I would never want to do. Then Koda is stupid to follow if your not Kodan since it says that the kodans are the highest ranking species on Tyria. Great Dwarf is a bunch of hairy statues running around underground, so no thanks. Ventari’s Teachings seem like more of a cult following than anything, but it does seem to be a good set of rules to live your life by. Grawl worship flowers, so that leaves the Spirits of the Wild. I don’t see many negatives to worshiping them, so I would worship Bear.
Will the new ascended gear be tradable?

What about the dropped ones?
It’s already cannon… And if you don’t like an game that is optional to play and more than 3/4ths of the player base likes, then don’t play it.
I think the problem here isn’t what the individual Sylvari might know upon awakening, but instead what the Pale Tree herself knows through her connection to the dream.
I would assume the Pale Tree gets the same things sylvari do, just from many other angles. Shes basically what would happen if about 1000000 insanely stupid skritt formed a scratch. Because of this, she connects them all and cam occasionally see a missed connection- IE the attack on the Chantry of Secrets.
Question: Why are we assuming the Pact is full of idiots? They would probably just sell the land to the highest bidder, so it will probably be Asura.
Sylvari only get vague inklings of an memory or experience. They can look at a building and say “That looks like… What was it again?” Some Sylvari even need help translating the dream, as the dream is often mixing real items and metaphors, and apparently it is quite hard to tell them apart. A Sylvari could never hear a secret plan through the dream, and though they may see the Chantry of Secrets, they won’t know what it is, only that it is important to them. The dream also alters appearances and size drastically sometimes, as an NPC Sylvari who is startled by how big/small your norn/Asura is.
TBH I don’t really see why humans don’t have a claim to their homelands, just hate the humans of Tyria.
she’s just playacting with her “I’m insane, I will kill kill kill all the peoples!” personality. It would turn out so much better if her acting like an insane terrorist.
“linear story with temporary content”
That monologue at the end of the dungeon kind of hinted that she wasn’t quite as idiotic as she made herself seem.
Also isn’t that what an living world is? A constantly changing world that points towards an larger story?
Orr is located within the Sea of Sorrows, so LA seems to have jurisdiction over it as soon as the pact moves out. The Lionguard claimed Southsun Cove for that same reason. Also, any rights humans had to the land were thrown out when their king decided to sink Orr instead of evactuating. If anyone has the right to Orr, its the many displaced by other dragons, like the kodan and quaggan kicked out by Jormag, or ogres forced out by the Brand. The majority of them will flock to either LA or to other places with their race. Either way, they will need much more space as the Branded and Icebrood expand their territory, and Orr or Southsun are the best places I can think of, and no one wants to live with Karka.

But I prefer winning over mindless looting.
I mean the whole champ farm going on when invasions are up. They cause everyone to stack and us to lose.
Oh, but if we win too much, it’ll get nerfed.
Splitting up a big zerg into smaller zergs is an exploit.
By that logic, forming a big zerg is an exploit.
I mean the whole champ farm going on when invasions are up. They cause everyone to stack and us to lose.
Disable champ loot for aetherblades, molten alliance, and twisted nightmares plz.
Not likes its hard to notice. its there when you start to log in.
To people who don’t like mindless zergs, DON’T DO EM! Grab some guildies and go to the events without zergs if you truely don’t care about champ farming. There are more than enough!
Steam creatures come from an alternate reality’s future through portals. So it just means the aetherblades are somehow connected. Maybe they have discovered a way to summon them, maybe they come from the same future.
The steam creatures are basically golems created to be a personal army.
Yes, I know the lore behind steam creatures. Theres an alternate reality where your asura toon has became ruler of Tyria and creates the steam creatures. But how are they connected?
I have been doing the emissary escorts to get my balloons, and some of them have the steam creatures popping out of portals instead of aetherblade pirates coming from the sky. This is not just in the shiverpeaks, its happened in Sparkfly Fen and Iron Marches as well. Arent they contained on the frozen lake?
Well actually wintersday is the celebration of the end of the year, so FF was in 1326 as well.
People in my guild are saying that in this update, the treaty between charr and humans is finally signed, but I see nothing about it anywhere. Where are these rumors coming from?
The other mentors have risen taunting about them as well, but when it’s taunting about Tybalt it’s always a charr.
And when you kill his risen self in the event that pops up hurts so much as well.
We want a corrupt two faced politician in a game. It will make for interesting story.
Soooo how bout a loan? :P
Kiel is a hero, yes. But we players need something worth our votes. Until she offers something more than useless WP discounts, Evon wins.
I hope and pray Kiel changes her offers soon.
I couldnt disagree more, I bought guild wars 2, for a story revolving around the Elder Dragons, I did not buy casino wars, to play with lottery boxes, nor did I buy irrelevant human god wars. Kiel offers a discount (minor though it may be) that affects every single player, Evon offers a way to take away your money. Kiel offers research that could help us understand and fight the other elder dragons, Evon offers a boring story we all already know.
#teamKiel ftw
Evon is Yomm times 10. We will be able to build as many airships as we want with him on the council, supporting the pact. We can have gates from Orr to Frostgorge to the Crystal Desert to Cantha. Soldiers equipped with full exos. Southsun turned into a true nation for lions arch.
#TeamMoney
Gnashblade at 99 posts, Kiel at 78.
WIN FOR MOAR MONEY.
What boosts would matter in WvW or PvE? No matter what, the other side will have them too, so no point in having any.
Also if you WvW or PvP only, you don’t do the living stories. It’s kind of fair. WvW boosts affect WvW too btw, not sure if anyone realized this.

Lions arch was actually protecting Tyria from invasions by Zhaitan since Cobiah founded it.
It is the first city, or now an nation with southsun being under its control(and possibly Orr?) to treat every species equally(Not sure if the laws against norn or charr still stand in Kryta.)
The pirates must follow Lions Arch laws, or they will be arrested, so technically they are privateers, operating within the law. They don’t support the Consortium, but they haven’t broken any laws so they have their hands tied.
Canach was harming Lions Arch citizens, so he was a menace, regardless of intentions.
When have they ever competed with local governments? All the major cities support them.
The Mist Wars sounds more like they are defending, not invading, based on NPC dialogue.
They don’t have a trade agreement with bandits. They hate bandits. They just would prefer not getting attacked by them to being at war with their forces.
Name one nation against lions arch and I will delete this post.

Waypoint>Keys.
Abaddon>Thaumnova
Crab Toss > Crab Toss
Charr > Human
Money > “Morals”
Evon wins my vote!
Warrior of Azgard: But Zhaitan doesn’t take the soul with the body, so they are just puppets. There is a Ghost in Maelstrom or Sparkfly of a norm in the vigil who says he was killed by risen and they now are using his body.

Hopefully they change it to +rare drops from boxes/bags. Or a lower selling fee.
Well, flame legion was the Citadel of Flame, and that’s pretty much all we know. Ash is probably east of the Blazeridge Mountains.
What about an endless tonic that’s customizable? That wouldn’t interfere anymore than the other endless tonics.
I mentioned more than one option. I see that erosion may not have occured, but my thought on the iron legion just taking them out to get them out of the way is still valid. I mean in Iron Marches they are attempting to take down the Great Northern Wall for pity’s sake!
I meant that the Tail of the Star God SP actually implies it never eroded, while the post I replied to said that that specific crystal eroded a lot.
Actually it is very obvious that the one in what was Pockmark Flats has eroded a lot from what it used to be. It is just that the crystal there was one of THE largest searing crystals in game, so even eroding away it is still around. I’d post links, but apparently the wiki doesn’t have a picture of the pockmark shard.
“Two and a half centuries have failed to dull these crystalline shards called down by desperate charr during the cataclysmic Searing.”
So apparently it didn’t erode at all. Though that may just mean its still very sharp, but not as large.
They probably eroded away, judging by dialouge for the tail of the star god.
Wasn’t an insult, though reading it again I notice why you would think that. I just noticed you say that whenever someone brings up Dhuum or Menzies or the Mist Wars.
No idea why I said Lord Konig…. XD
(edited by Beetle.2476)
There isn’t too much lore around it, but there are a couple theories. Lets wait for Lord Konig to post the Dhuum-Menzies one.
But we would need to create some sort of super-virus to cause heart failure across Tyria first… Then we will make a fortune selling hearts!
And I don’t think nations that support the pact will like inquest stuff…

Kilroy Stonekin.
@ Gandarel: The memorial to Kilroy Stonekin at the Granite Citadel seems to point to the idea that he is, in fact, dead. There could be a change in the future, but for now it seems to be the case.
Or its for future generations to know how epic he was before the rite.
Nah, these aren’t bad patch notes. It hurts bunker rangers and 111111 pew pew shortbow rangers a bit, but it’s not game breaking. Looking at the other stuff, longbow is getting some decent buffs (double cripple duration is no joke), the spirit tree is getting an overhaul (much needed, in a good way), and we will finally have a viable group build. Ranger shout regen/swiftness is amazing. Every 15 seconds along with a pet invisibility on “guard”, an aoe stun break on “protect me”, etc etc.
Also, rapid fire isn’t getting 50% damage reduction. Not sure where you’re looking Zenith. I might be missing something, but I’ve looked it over like 5 times.
Ive waited for you at the SOAC man…I would really love to play with you…you said it right btw check this as a potential build for bringing dmg to pets
take these:
1.Stability Training:This trait now causes the pet to ignore the incoming crowd control skill as well as granting stability. This has a 10 second internal recharge.
2.Beastmasters Might: This trait now grants 3 stacks of might for 15 seconds.
3.Companion’s Might: This trait now grants 5 seconds of might to your pet, up from 1 second.
4.Fortifying Bond
5.Rampage as OneYeah, I had a few people really angry at me for leaving last second. I got off work early for it, was online for the party invite, and literally the moment I said hi to everyone, I got a text telling me to cover for the guy who was supposed to show up after me.
I’m two for two now on the SOAC tourneys, and not in a good way. Probably won’t register for them again until I’m done with this job since it has become so unreliable ;(
As for working on making pets dangerous, I’m looking forward to some of the unconventional hybrid builds people will come out with aside from the x/x/x/x/30. Assuming that these patch notes are legit.
All this is doing is making my build better. Soldier armor and runes 20/0/30/20/0, Spirits, Bird and devourer, GS/LB. This will just make my spirits and longbow better.
