I was getting good matches up until diamond t3 then had a bad lose streak and im basicallly now having poor quality hotjoin like matches. I think my MMR might be kittened now and I was wondering how many loses it really takes to drastically affect your MMR. I thought losing a couple of games diddnt matter since I have 7k games played on this account but I dont know, it looks like even losing 2 games decreases your MMR alot and your matches get way worse than a couple of hours ago when you were on a winning streak.

I have the same exact issue. I got to t3 diamond and had a horrible 9 game losing streak. I had great MMR until t3, ever since I hit diamond my almost 71% w/l ratio has been reduced down to almost 67%. I can never get a winning streak going, most I win now is 2 games in a row.

Not sure if this is a bug or working as intended, but whenever turned into a moa, I am completely unable to jump. If working as intended would be nice to know in the description that the players can’t jump.

And how about you realize that its just a part of their sustain? Its not like every class has cd on demand btw.

If you don’t save your CC then that is an issue of gameplay. When are you using your CC? You really should be saving it for their heal. If you don’t have any CC, that is an issue with your build…What profession are you struggling against engis with?

Their heal may be quick, but it isn’t strong

Ohhh…the moment when you discover healing turret+rocket charge combo along with glob shot and other bs.

Typically they engage with their rocket charge, I typically pressure them out of this before they heal, that way when they heal they can’t combo. Time your bursts, try to do your damage bursts after they heal or after they use their cooldowns. Rocket charge is really easy to look for.

This topic kind of got off track… Although I agree with slick shoes needing a look at or change, they are by no means over powered. Their heal may be quick, but it isn’t strong. It has a very low base, which is the reason for it’s low cooldown. If you can stun them or CC them after they deploy it, you can reduce their healing by stopping their extra skills to blast or leap through it.

As for condi ‘immunity’ I am unsure as of where you are getting this from. Yes, they are most likely going to be immune tot he first condi you throw at them (and every 15 seconds later immune to another) I also don’t find their invulnerability is game breaking, it doesn’t contribute to capping a point, plus they can’t use anything while invulnerable. I don’t think they have perma retal either….since they would really only be getting through 1 of 3 sources: elixir B, elixir B trait for being below 75% and the transmute trait… They most likely will do elixir B in the beginning of the battle, so if you get them below 75% boon stripping will do you good.

As for their damage….If they are doing a ton of damage, that means they are squishy themselves, so you should be able to deliver a ton of damage back to them.

Maybe this is from a biased point..unsure of what profession you play as, but I have never ever struggled against an engineer in ranked as my necro.

What exactly is the input for the ladder search? Is it just based off your rank, or does it include any of your match history? After a few out of wack matches (like the one I posted above) I finally got to play with people in my league. Could be due to more people playing at this time.

How are afks handled in ranked? I have been told to report under botting…but are these actually looked at? Had 5 afkers in the last 2 days… Any suggestions for climbing out of the low ranks? Currently in emerald but get stuck with bad players half the time (or in my case afkers every 5 matches it seems). Should I just duo queue with my diamond friend for possibly more consistent teams?

I have actually had worse…lost a pip when it was 3 diamonds emerald + afk amber vs 4 diamonds and a legendary I think it was. Maybe 5 diamonds. Another where I lost a pip with 3 diamonds a ruby and emerald vs 3 diamonds 2 legendaries. Not to mention I face heavily outmatched teams like this and have only received 1 double pip out of about 15 or more wins (I am the emerald just trying to climb the ranks quick…which isn’t happening)

Juggernaut (trait) + Flamethrower Kit, ideas?

I feel as though the trait Juggernaut has been swept over the rug, it has good possibilities to be a good trait I feel, but at this point is almost unusable I find. Unless you sit with your flamethrower kit out all the time (which I would deeply advise against), you can not possibly prosper from this trait at all. The trait is extremely unreliable in combat, it seems to have its own internal cooldown of when the might and stability is applied, and if you happen to be off it during the split moment, nothing. The internal clock of the trait does not care at all when you actually equip the kit, but if it is equipped during the timer.

While I am on the Juggernaut trait, I have been away from this game for a while, and now that I am back the +200 toughness is gone from this trait. Albeit it being constantly bugged, was there a reason this was taken away?

Any suggestions for this trait? It currently has a monotone play style, leaving you only 1 real option for using the trait: staying in Flamethrower kit.

Any suggestions for a rework for flamethrower kit? If I remember correctly, I thought Air Blast used extended the burning duration? But now it only applies 1 stack of burning if the target is already burning. Napalm strike feels really awkward also, I have almost never used to except for might stacking, which is near impossible in combat. The fire field itself is extremely thin, and requires extreme precision to execute a blast finisher in. Often times when I am trying to rapidly might stack, I will land blast finishers on the edge of it, half in half out and I receive no might. I feel as though this is the worst skill in the kit. Also smoke vent feels slightly underwhelming, but it does have its uses.

Any comments? Whether you love it or hate it, I would like to hear what others think of the Flamethrower kit and the Juggernaut trait

[BUG] Invalid Target Shield

So far I have noticed this bug for the engineer shield skill #5, and I believe the tool kit skill #4 a long time ago. Whenever I have a target, I am immobilized and the target is not in my character’s field of view (ie typically behind me), I can never throw up my shield for defense. When having a target and looking the other way, this does not happen.

Build I personally run and succeed a ton with. If you love Grenades two, I would drop 10 in alchemy, add 10 in explosives and switch tool kit out with grenades (the secondary build I run). Before fights, depending on how many abilities you want to use up, you can buff up to 20 might easily and maintain it passively with constant weapon swapping. If your interested in game play, or would like to see how it plays out, I can spend some time and tape a few matches.

I was not sure where to post this, so I decided to put it here.

I have noticed a fairly massive influx of gold seller spammers, probably due to the all the sales that anet has had recently. I have noticed that me, and a friend, have been spammed heavily with messages in game from the gold sellers. I asked LA chat in the Tarnished Coast, and no one appears to have this problem of spammers. Both me and my friend are currently on the leaderboards for Achievement points, so I think that is where they are harvesting the names from, if that helps the staff at all to reduce this problem. I have posted on the forums a bit before, but my friends tends to never, so I do not think they are taking them from the forums.

Anyways, I hope this information helps the team out. If not, oh well I tried. Thanks, and have a good day.

So, Gaile Gray stated that this was a priority for them. Now, is this priority for just fixing the bug and not refunding us? It seems to me that the bug itself does not need that much fixing, things just need to be more thought out in the future of how they handle these messages to players.

It is going on a month since support has last responded to me…. Maybe they are taking it in priority order of who reported/responded first? Still, if they are working on other people first, it would be good to know. Really tired of waiting.

I am not trying to make this sound like a threat at all, but I might have been willing to spend money on the miniatures and other odds and ends in the store if this bug either didn’t happen, or was resolved quickly. Frankly, you lost my support for in game items now. That goes second for my girlfriend, and others who read these kind of things in the forums. Also word spreads pretty fast, and others might not be inclined to purchase in game things either. In essence, this is a cascading effect…the longer you let this issue lie, the more money you lose.

Eh? The reason I brought up the fear caused by Doom is your picture you posted is the skill Doom I believe…… And my position for the downed state having such an obvious icon should remain, if it hits it is a 2s fear base and is much more punishing than just a 2s knockdown the warrior does.

Im talking about the downed fear in OP. Its a cast and even noobs are dodging it. Haven’t landed a single fear since.

Ok…if you are talking about just the downed state, I find every downed state has a pretty obvious animation. If you are complaining about the downed state necro having a bigger sign that you are using the move, I think it is proper because it is MUCH more punishing than just a knockdown/pull/knockback.

As for the instants…you are so confusing on your posts. Your talk about one fear in one post, then another fear (doom) in another. Why does it even matter if instants have a huge animation or not? If I am feared from the skill ‘Doom’ I do not notice because there is a symbol above your character’s head, I notice because my character is not responding to my keys and moving the proper way.

Please specify what you are talking about when you post….

Are you talking about just the downed CC skills? Everyone that has a downed CC skill has a pretty obvious animation. Warrior, they hold an arm back preparing to hold a hammer. Gaurds bring their hand out slowly before releasing their burst of light. Engineers hold their arm back similar to warriors and throw their tow line. Ranger thunderclakitten imilar to Gaurdian I believe. Everything has a pretty obvious animation, and if they have an invul/instant stability or blind (like the engineer flamethrower kit 5, which I love) they can negate your CC.

The reason this is not exactly the same bug is that it never went to overflow, as you put it: it ate the mail. I never had my inbox go beyond 10/10, not sure about other people though. The messages just seemed to slide in place of other messages. So it is a bug with the message and overflow messages, but not the same bug he encountered. He encountered a bug with too many messages in his mailbox for too long of a time it seems.

@Sonia.7910, it is not exactly the same bug as him. He let his mailbox overflow, where as, as far as I know, ours never actually went to overflow, messages were just deleted and replaced with the new wallet message.

And yeah… I have a bad feeling in my gut that I just lost over 25$ worth of in game items…

Another suggestion for a fix is to send it like you do the living story messages….in a single message that does not compete with player or BLTC messages. Or it could be sent like the dungeon ones, where each character gets a dungeon message, and that also does not compete with overflowing the mailbox. That way each character gets the message, and your mailbox is not spammed with the same message 5+ times.

It seems really inconsistent that these messages aren’t sent this way anyway, tbh :T

Yeah, it seems like a big design flaw on their end. Normally they do tell us new things on separate messages that are single account wide, or a separate message for each character, unless we receive messages from NPCs in game.

My girlfriend did something similar. She had a character that basically was holding onto a few odds and ends, nothing too important other than the Medium Aetherblade armor set, but she had forgotten about it. She deleted that character, then realized her armor was on that character being stored. Sent in a report ticket-and got nothing. I would not expect to get a refund…

Already do have a ticket up and pending… I guess the question is will we get refunded even if you do fix this issue. Is there a way to view past mail received, so you can accurately refund us? Not too worried about the fix…should be easily replicated, and a fix could be just to send a single account wide message stating that to have all items in your wallet, you must log onto each character. But everything is always easier said than done.

I really hope anet refunds the people that deserve it…because this is not a player error, the mailbox is suppose to hold the mail in some sort of overflow….

Hope this isn’t too early to post if you are still creating the thread… But there is a bug with the mailing of the message that you have a new wallet. If you get this message when you have 10 messages, it will delete your most current non wallet message it seems (not 100% sure, just from experience with 9 character slots). I have had multiple items deleted because of this, including 3-4 gemstore items…and would hate for it to happen to more people.

Hey, ever since this recent update I had 5 or more mails WITH items inside that have been now deleted. When I noticed is when I finally got rid of the 8 spammed messages from having my new wallet. Could these messages have overridden my messages with items in them? I know 100% sure I did not open them yet, I was saving the inventory space until I was ready to use and take the stuff. In total I had in my mail: Pheonix Armor, Magitek armor, Medium Aetherblade armor, 10g + desert rose skin, and 5g inside of my mailbox (waiting to record these items so I know how much I have donated to my guild tournament competition reward). I sent in a report ticket already but… Figured I would post here to see if others had the same issue, or if it is a bug that happened. I certainly hope I get refunded….

How in the world is it balanced to just die to a backstab that hits you for 8.5k 1. out of the blue, 2. wearing PVT/valk accesories and weapons, with no way of blocking it, with no counterplay involved, followed by two 3k HS (pray none crits., because then you are looking at 6-7k HS easily). Where is the counterplay to that? 3. Dont tel me that zerg because I was in a zerg, the guy came in backstab, HS, stealth on top of me, nobody could do shiznit about it, stomped me and 4. walked away with 50% hp.

Stealth is out of control, I understand its good to get the jump on people, but I have been hit by 11k backstabs with my squishy equipment, 5. I was wearing PVT/valk weapon and accessories, yet it hit me for 8.5k. EDIT: 10.5khp for berzerker, 6. we have the lowest hp pool in the game, have I been full zerker I would have literally died in one hit, with zerker I get hit with 11k backtabs all the time.

Either you need to 7. reworkout the whole hp from eles or move the damage from backstab to something that 8. ACTUALLY GIVE THE THIEF SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT, A RISK, right now it is incredibly dumb how they can pop out of stealth, 9. kill you in literally less than a sec with Backstab HS HS and 10. there is no counter to this unless you have stealth of your own or have aegis to save your butt.

11. I used arcane shield, it blocked two attacks, none revealed the thief, he kjust backed away until it disappeared, so no, thats not the counter, a good counter would be IF IT REVEALED THEM , but NOOooooo, we cant have a thief having to do any thinking on enemies CD, he could’ve ignored the shield anyways, the damage isnt enough to kill him if it explodes anyways.

1. It is not out of the blue, he has an obvious set up to the backstab in your damage log, so if a thief steals + CnD’s it is pretty clear that he is most likely going to backstab you, especially when striking someone in a zerg.

2. You are obviously NOT in PvT or Valkyrie armor. Both have vitality in the minor line, and if you had full exotic armor (not even including any ascended pieces) you would have a bonus of 698 vitality, not including any trait points in the health line. So if you were PvT or Valkyrie or a mix you would have 17785 health. So you obviously are not in full PvT/Valkyrie, or in very low level armor and weapons.

3. If you were in a zerg do not be at the tail end, people love to prey off stragglers (especially thieves). A zerg does not want to stop just to save one man….

4. He is just as squishy as you, I am sure if you landed two meteors on him he would be downed too.

5. Wait just weapon and accessories? Your armor provides a lot more bonus than that. But still, with exotic weapons + trinkets your health STILL would be at a minimum of 14905.

6. No, you share the lowest HP pool in the game with thieves and gaurdians. You are no the only class with a low HP pool.

7. Reworking ele would rework thieves + gaurdians, and I do not think more health should be added to all 3…

8. A risk is there: You turning around and killing them instead. Or the whole zerg noticing and they would be instantly obliterated.

9. Literally less than a second? If he did a backstab and two heart seekers…. (I am guessing you do not count the obvious set up to a backstab?) Backstab takes 1/4 of a second and heartseekers are 3/4th a second each, that is 1.75s, not including the aftercast required.

10. There are plenty of counters to it…my Engineer with a flamethrower OBLITERATES these kind of thieves.

11. Maybe try dodging too? Double dodge, quickly turn around, use burning retreat, switch to air swirling winds, then set down a static field just behind you, if he is still following you switch to earth and send out a shockwave, if he is somehow still chasing you after that leave down a frozen field. Getting back to the zerg would eliminate the threat if you can’t solo him…..

people complain about thieves being OP because they don’t know how to dodge. Dodge the heartseeker / cloak and dagger, or dodge out of the dagger storm, and suddenly you’re fighting a character that can’t do jack to you because they’re out of initiative.

Unfortunately it seems most people in PVP/WvW don’t know how to dodge.

While that sounds really easy, I was HS-d on my ranger when I used 2 dodges and a shorbow evade in succession. The guy was running a glass build, and I was below half health, so that was it for me. Sounds fair right? Just mash that 2 to win.

Assuming a 25/30/0/0/15 thief…. Channeling CnD before hand, stealing his initiative will be at 12….3 HS’s dodged means he has 3 initiative left, maybe 4. On his 4th attack, why not interrupt it with your Concussion Shot? All his initiative will be wasted then… If he somehow has more coming, switch weapons? Assuming your not running Axe/Axe, Axe/Warhorn, or Axe/Torch you have some form of dodge or CC to interrupt him. If you are running one of those three, maybe put a Sigil of Energy for another dodge?

I have had no trouble using the flamethrower number 2 skill before…though I have auto target off and often manually aim it myself to hit more enemies…. As far as being sent to oblivion on objects….they probably should change it to automatically detonate or something, but it is just acting like a normal ranged attack: if it hits an object it is obstructed and disappears with no effect.

Why doesn't shield block reveal a thief?

As others have said, that’s not an accurate comparison. When a Warrior’s burst attack is blocked or misses, the burst goes on full cooldown (7-10 seconds), but we retain our adrenaline. When a thief stealth attack is blocked or misses…nothing happens. You don’t even lose initiative because it’s the 1-slot skill.

Taking this small part….. what about having a 1-initiative cost to do the stealthed skill, if failed then we wasted an initiative, if hit we get that 1-initiative back? I still say forcing a stealth drop on that would be a bit extreme, but this allows room for good gameplay along with punishing a thief for trying to backstab spam through a warrior’s block. Also this way we can still get past a gaurdian’s initial aegis or a blind.

Yea, just ran into a thief going stealth through reveal timer, cleansing 9 conditions and gaining full health (from 10% left) from 1 C/D, and stealthing from S/D Cloak & Dagger with NOTHING anywhere near him. Oh, and some how hitting for 8-10k through 2k toughness and 1.2k healing build?!

What the hell?! New exploit I didn’t get the memo on? Oh, and he is 1 shoting Dolyaks, as well as full toughness/healing Guardians.

Come on… why don’t I get filled in on fun exploits like this?!

I think you have your weapon sets wrong…if he is hitting you for 8-10k then he is running D/D, not S/D…. I know there are speed hacks, but I have never heard of damage boosting hacks, or invisibility hacks….. Also 10% health for a thief is about 1k health, so a heal can easily bring him to full health, also hide in shadows can cleanse conditions, are you talking about 9 bleeding stacks? Or a total of 9 different conditions from the party? Otherwise if it was 1v1, I have no clue how you would attain 9 different conditions on a gaurdian….

As for the stealthing, it was probably just a well timed chain stealth, it seemed like he was having the revealed debuff when he activated it, but hit C&D when it was gone.

And 1 hitting dolyaks? I highly doubt that.

Celestial vs Explorer's

Looking at the new armor, the point of celestial is to give a small bonus to all stats. But when comparing the two armors, explorer’s is SEVERELY lacking. The two are not balanced, Celestial has just as much magic find as in a major slot. I would say it is more so balanced if the magic find was on the minor side, but all major magic find items seem like nothing compared to celestial now.

Comparing the two, ignoring both magic find and critical damage, celestial gets almost double (1.875x) the stats compared to gear like explorer’s.

Comparing it to something else with 3 stat bonuses, not including magic find and crit damage, celestial has about 1.1 times more stats.

I notice that, with, the ascended jewelery, the ratio of magic find from celestial stats to explorer’s is 1:2.5…so shouldn’t explorer’s be more so 7 or 8%, or celestial 1 or 2%?

So…I think explorer’s magic find should increase, or bring down the celestial armor to make it more equal…

It would just reward skilled play, the players who pay attention would see little affect in their abilities. At the moment it is all too easy to play thief and get away with sloppy skill use. Speaking from experience.

In the case of some blocks, like gaurdian, if they throw up an aegis we can only do one of two things then to get it down: attack through and get revealed, or wait and get revealed without the debuff. The shield stance already outlasts the stealth duration, why do you need it better? And what about blinds then, we would be faced with the same dilemma since revealed debuff would most likely happen on a miss too. This by no means promotes good game play, all an opponent would have to do is toss something out, like a block, and it would neutralize the thief. Not to mention that almost all stealth attacks require good positioning, so just about a second to react before getting hit with the high amount of damage.

When you are blocked by a guardian who’s traited for it, you are set on fire. When you as a thief get blocked by anything, you should get revealed. Stealth traps apply the revealed condition so it shouldn’t be hard to program blocking to do the same.

I don’t think it’s tricky for the devs to program this.

It is not about how easy or hard it is to program something…it is a matter of balance. Is it truly fair to eliminate the main mechanic of a thief due that? Not just blocks, but it would most likely happen on blind and invulnerability too, not just blocking. If this is considered, I am sure they would have to balance by improving some of the effects or something to counter balance since it would then become even more crucial and harder to land the stealthed strike properly.

Heh…wish I was recording during a guild Bounty against Big Mayana….When the boss started the jumping frenzy I activated Rush…ended up immediately taking just about a 90 degree turn, only to do a 180 as she bounced to the complete opposite side I was aimed. Was rather amusing watching my character trying to track the target.

I think the main problem here is where is the balance between fair and overkill. At the moment it may not be fair for them not to be penalized, but it would be overkill to give them the revealed buff that often.

Im not sure if you are aware, but when warrior misses his burst ability, whether it was blocked, missed by blind or just missing completely, it always goes to full cooldown. Even if we cancel it, it goes to full cooldown.

So, I don’t think you can compare them to each other really very well, especially when warrior can easily regain full adrenaline in that 7-10 second cooldown anyways.

You also have a secondary weapon set to try and perform a different burst ability. Also, the longbow one does not require for it to be placed down, but for some reason that I can not understand can get blocked…that seems to happen to me very often when I am on my warrior.

Maybe trying to make the two analogous was not the best, but they still remain similar.

Lets say whenever a thief was blocked they would have the revealed debuff if they were in stealth. This would most likely happen when we try to hit with blinds, is dodged, complete misses or hits an invulnerable enemy. This seems a bit penalizing to give us 3 seconds (4 seconds in sPvP) revealed debuff, especially considering our main defense is either dodging or stealthing.

Seeing how I might be one of the only thieves to view into the Warrior profession….
Let me try to put this in perspective for your class: would you want to lose all your adrenaline when your F1 ability is blocked? That, I think, would be a terrible mechanic. Same thing for thief, if something as simple as blocking gives us a revealed debuff would just about completely mitigate our stealth.

Shield stance lasts 3 seconds, throwing it up should out last the stealth anyways, so thus no backstab unless they chain stealths. Also if your threw it up too early and you see the ‘Block’ while the thief is invisible turn around: he is most likely right there, and start swinging. If he is spamming 1 you will take half damage, and already dished out some to him.

So… we are STILL penalized if we miss our burst. You aren’t penalized AT ALL.

One of the perks of being a Thief is that we have no recharge time on our weapon skills…And neutralizing a stealth backstab is not penalizing a thief? Sure we do regain that initiative in that time to try and stealth again, but it still required that trait, utility or initiative to get into that stealth.

You are pretty bad at stealthing if you only get 3 seconds out of it…

All stealth skills that a thief has access to have a base of 3 seconds with the exception of smoke bomb, shadow trap and shadow refuge. Only way to extend it is by chaining it, or investing 15 into the shadow arts line.

Signet of Stamina is by far my favorite…But a 4 signet (5 signet if you really like that heal…) can actually be very useful if you build it properly. Signet of strength has a very strong effect, allowing you to, for example, shield bash through a gaurdian’s shelter heal, or allowing your F1 ability on your rifle to pierce through projectile absorption (and maybe reflection? Not sure on that, do not remember). I personally use it with axe though, having an unblockable eviscerate. Also I never leave home without my signet of stamina…I love the endurance regeneration boost along with an instant ALL condition wipe. What is there not to love about that? Also Signet of Dolyak is very useful, allowing for stability stomps, or get out of a stun.

What about using some CC skill before he gets downed or a launch after he’s downed? I mean, you can see him tossing it.
That skill had got quite a bunch of counters. Just learn to play.

I have also been able to auto attack an engi to stop him from getting enough healing with just thief dagger onhand… Poison is a huge counter to this. Another huge counter is to watch for it, then pause after the throws it, then resume killing. When the engi throws it they are looking to be downed, so tend to stop what they are doing, and roam around that small area with a giant fake kill me sign.
