I don’t want to live on this planet anymore.
I hope this helps you.
I always thought Sylvari has smaller min/max heights compared to humans.
Either that or all the Sylvari I see have their height set relatively low.
Just finished getting my Mesmer to level 80, meaning that I now have an 80 of every profession now.
At least until Revenant is out…
Please ANet!
Please kill Trahearne.
Everyone would be so happy.
I wouldn’t.
it looks like crap to be honest.
That’s your opinion, and you’re entitled to it, but others – like myself – do quite like them.
But this thread is not about whether they look good or not. This thread is asking Anet to bring them back.
Agree, they do, and u cant fly either
I will also chime in and say that they look like hot garbage.
Same with the edgy black counterpart.
And now my eyes have to suffer since nearly everyone and their mother, uncle, and family pet bought the kitten things.
I wouldn’t mind it. If anything just have the waypoint cost be double or triple to travel to them on alts that haven’t been there yet.
Outfits were a mistake.
It turns out the if you click on the initializing screen where the login button SHOULD be, you’ll log in.
I have autostart enabled but I bet if you click the areas where login and launch game are you should be able to get the game to launch.
It’s like the buttons are there but they didn’t load in.
Only have one of each, probably going to keep it that way unless Anet releases a new race someday, unless it comes out the same time as a new profession then I’ll combine the two.
I enjoyed it and I hope we get more opportunities to see the experiences of other characters good or bad, it’s nice to learn more about them.
Yeah! Let’s kill influential high authority figures because they hurt my daughteru’s feelings!
I never liked the mentality of skipping either, I’m more into busting heads than making a profit.
I know map exploiting is different but when you have everyone else in your CM party wanting to use a Mesmer to glitch to the top of a mountain to skip a ton of enemies and spend an hour trying to do so I’d MUCH rather kick all the bandits skulls in and get knocked down a few times.
I’m just going to assume it’s just the two world bosses and nothing else until I see it, better to have no expectation and be surprised than have expectations and be disappointed.
Maybe it’s for the best the Abaddon fractal never happened.
Anet would have found a way to shoehorn Scarlet into it with time travel or something.
I never saw Trahearne as a bad character, though I agree he could have been written a bit better.
In my opinion he seems like a friend who had a lot of trust in the player character from helping him get over his anxiety of being a leader and helping him on his Wyld Hunt.
He may have been the leader of the pact but I was 2nd in command and always around during the major battles, I guess other characters could have shown that more and acknowledged me a bit better, but I never placed any of those feelings on Trahearne specifically.
I hope he actually shows up more so that he can get fleshed out better so people can stop hating him.
That’s just my opinion anyway.
Once everyone knows what they’re doing it’s not so bad.
There’s just some bugs and things that need to be tweaked.
If anything I’d think Scarlet and the Mad King would get a long pretty well.
I doubt it, Canach is more of a victim of circumstance who had to do bad things rather than a full on scheming villain.
The way he puts it all together I wouldn’t be surprised if at least one of those possibilities are true.
Use bombs.
During her second stage, try and get yourself into a rhythm where you’re walking close to the center of the map.
Make sure you’re walking into the red circles right after the attack lands, so that you’re walking into the attack that already happened while walking away from the ones starting up. And just spam all your bombs.
Since you’re around the center of the map, Liadri’s cripple won’t get you stuck inside of the red circle attacks that are starting up.
If I had to guess, it took me nearly 80 tries before i beat her, and I did not have fun at all.
The easiest way for Engineers to do this would be to use bombs that are completely buffed by the Explosives traits that apply to them, and when her 2nd phase starts stay close to the center of the ring so you can weave in and out of the pattern the aoe instakill attacks make, you’ll be constantly walking into the attacks that already happened with walking out of the ones setting up, so you won’t have to waste endurance dodging too much. And just never stop dropping bombs.
Doesn’t hurt to stack as much condition damage and duration you possibly can.
All in all I did not have any fun fighting this boss compared to all the others who were both challenging and fun in various ways. For everyone sake I hope the cosmic rift can get locked away never to be seen again.
I’ll admit, if I ever end up beating her I can’t say I even remotely had fun fighting her. All of the other bosses? Heck yes I had fun fighting them, but Liadri singlehandedly ruined the entire experience for me. I can’t even remember how many times I tried fighting her, but I don’t think I even have the will to try again anymore, she’s just not fun to fight at all.
This isn’t an isolated case. The ideal ‘strong female’ is depicted as hourglass shaped and scantily clad (with most of their clothes being there for aesthetics rather than functionality) a little too often. It’s in comics, it’s in cartoons, it’s in games, it’s everywhere.
Of course, when you analyze just this particular case it seems really ridiculous to point these things out. GW2 is in general good about not objectifying its female characters. But when it introduces a robot which is pretty much modeled after a hourglass-shaped naked woman in stilettos out of the blue, and when scantily clad hourglass-shaped women in stilettos are typically objectified and fetishized, some people will be uncomfortable with it.
Ultimately, it’s unnecessary. It’s something the game could’ve done without. They could’ve made female-looking robots without the naked, hourglass-shaped, stilettos part. There was absolutely no reason to resort to this particular trope. Of course, we don’t know the intention of the designer when they thought of this look, but since the female form is objectified more often than not, and since naked women are portrayed as meant for men to look at more often than not, you can’t really blame people for raising an eyebrow.
(I can’t believe I’m still talking here someone please stop me it hurts)
I’m looking at the Watchknight mini on the updates page right now and honestly, it doesn’t seem that ‘objectified and fetishistic’. Complain about the stilettos all you want (personally, I hate heels and think they’re ugly, but that isn’t weighing into my opinion of the Watchknights all that much)but I don’t think the art teams intentions were to give people feelings in their pants looking at them. They’re more imposing and threatening than sexual.
Their hourglass figure is pretty modest honestly. I guess their hips seem wider than they are because of their somewhat strange way of standing (which makes sense because robot, it’s probably for balance if that makes sense). The breasts aren’t too big either in my opinion.
Is it an ‘objectified’ female form? Heck no, it’s more basic and average if anything, nothing is really exaggerated to be sexual to me. I just feel like everyone saying these things are looking waaaaaaay too far into it and don’t even notice.

That they look “sexy” would also be less irritating were it not a phenomenon I encountered near enough at every turn. A break would be nice. I wonder how many men would be comfortable surrounded by scantily clad or nude men bearing large pelvic bulges, all with smouldering, thoughtful expressions; like they really care about you.
I would be perfectly comfortable. Why? Because I am able to separate a video game design from reality.
I don’t think such a reductionist approach is very helpful in this conversation. Computer games are a reflection of real life (culture).
Think, and pay attention, on how often the female body is simply used as a decoration. Think of for example booth babes, the girls that kiss the winner of some race, the girl on the cover of your tv-magazine etc.
Then having these watchknights with a female body is a reflection of what we do in real life. Again the female body is simply used as a decorative tool. You might call it art, but that doesn’t make it not-sexist.
But the Watchknights aren’t for decoration. They’re for defense. How can you even compare them to booth babes and winners circle girls? They’re cold and metallic sword wielding, shape shifting abominations that just happen to look like women when in their normal forms because they were DESIGNED by a woman.
You misunderstand my argument. First and foremost, they are female shaped for us, as a player, to “enjoy”. The lore is pretty much irrelevant since it can be shaped by the designers in any shape to “justify” their female shape.
For example The scarlet blade game might have lore to justify why all toon are scantly clad big breasted women, but I am sure we can agree that that lore came after the character design. So yes, I compare them to booth babes and winner circle girls, because their female shape only matter for ‘decoration’.
Or they have a female shape because Queen Jennah designed them, and I highly doubt they only created Jennah for the sole excuse of having female robots.
Also yes, they are relatively pleasing to the eye while looking intimidating at the same time. The art team did a really good job designing them and it’s downright insulting for the only thing you see in it is Eye Candy. As I said, I don’t think the lore is a ‘justification’.
You seem to imply that I don’t think that these robots are cool looking. I do think they look awesome, but that doesn’t mean I can’t see the problematic side of again using the female body for this design.
But how is it problematic? Would it be problematic if they were based on men rather than women? There’s really nothing sexual about them at all to be considered a problem at all to begin with.
Why is the fact that they’re based on the female form such a grievous issue?
It would not be problematic it was a male body, since the male body is only very rarely used as a ‘decoration’.
I never said it was a grievous issue, don’t put words in my mouth. But it’s surely good to be aware of sexual objectification when it happens. And that happens now with the choice of making these watchknight in a (idealized) female shape for no good reason, other than probably pleasing the male gaze.
It wouldn’t be an issue if it wouldn’t happen almost everywhere, all the time, in the real world.
Then go complain about it in the real world where it’s a real problem.
I don’t know how anyone can see these things as sexualized, first time I saw them I though ‘Hey cool shapeshifting robot’. The ‘gender’ of the robot didn’t even matter to me, and I’m sure it doesn’t matter to a large majority of players.
People making comments that they want to do the horizontal monster mash with them are just playful jokes by people who DO notice the female form, but are just jokes in case anyone wants to bring that up again.
I just cannot fathom how this can be seen as a problem at all. Maybe I’m just stupid then. All I see is a robot that can turn into things and people that aren’t robots, and that should be what most people see.

If the mechapricks on the robots were done artistically like the Statue of David and went well with the style of Divinity’s Reach, then why not? The Watchknights are doing that fine with their roboboobs.
Why not indeed. But we don’t see it happening. Don’t you wonder why? Btw, this is the equivalent not just of having a prick, but one that is fully erect and throbbing
Why would it be erect? That would ACTUALLY be implying something sexual, unlike the Watchknights.
And we probably don’t see it happening because it’d lead to a possible M rating unless artistic integrity could be argued well enough. But I wouldn’t be complaining if they could get away with it.
If you notice, the David’s umm…package…is quite small. Extremely tiny in fact in proportion to his body. Video game developers however always make their characters have huge boobs. It’s not random. There’s no getting around the fact that they’re sexualized. Not all women have massive protruberances, but women in this game always do.
Hey, I’m not disputing it’s art. I just want people to admit that it’s not just art. It’s art with a very specific gender based consideration in mind.
Save for one or two of the Norn body types, Anet has been pretty modest with bust sizes in my opinion. It’d be pretty stupid all women in this game be absolutely featureless to avoid being considered remotely sexualized wouldn’t it?
I don’t believe there’s much ‘gender based consideration’ in this game to be concerned about at all. Compared to most MMOs there’s not a grossly large number of hyper sexualized female armor I’ve come across and body types aren’t very exaggerated. There’s a few, but they’re not too extreme.
Honestly I think everyone is looking for things to be offended by that don’t even exist.

I agree. The first thing I thought when I saw the watchknights were…why boobs? I mean it’s ridiculous. Not form efficient. Poor balance with the wide hips. So stupid…
You should be more concerned about how it walks on two legs efficiently at all rather than how the aesthetic breasts affect that.
Why does it bother you so much? Honestly asking. It’s just an incongruity. You want killer robots? That’s cool. Let’s say we have the technological know how to make it balance well on two legs. It makes sense. But I just don’t get what kind of person would put boobs on a robot. I mean…even wings would be awesome. But wide hips? What on earth for?
If they modeled the robot on a guy, will we start putting pricks on them next?

Tott, there’s plenty of evidence to the contrary. You ignore it and brush it under the patriarchy. Your feeling of offense is not because there’s some master plot to sexualize women and promote them only through the male gaze.
In fact, where you see gross, unrealistic shapes that could forever ruin femininity, others see beauty and power in SPITE of form. The Watchknights are powerful regardless of how they look. However, all you see is how they look (women) and suppose that it MUST be sexualization, abuse of women, making women weak, etc.
It’s perspective, and your perspective is colored by sex-negative radical critical feminism.
They’re naked women fighting in dominatrix-style stiletto heels. I’m as conservative as southern girls come and I see the sexualization of these statues, too. I don’t understand how you and others can’t.
Nudity =/= Sexualization
The human body isn’t scary and offensive to look at, it’s a natural form that can be appreciated without being sexualized.
The Watchknights have a nice style to them, the female form to them is more artistic and beautiful than sexy.
I’m not too much of a fan of heels but I don’t care that they’re there too, just saying that to say that.
Their posterior seems awfully elaborate too. Someone had fun designing them it seems. Although personally I kinda have to roll my eyes at those Sexbots.
EW THE HUMAN BODY IS SO DISGUSTING TO LOOK AT
It’s not even remotely sexualized, it’s more artistic if anything. Sexbots almost seems like an insult to the art team.
I don’t even see how this is up for debate, the Watchknights are perfectly fine. Stop over-exaggerating everything for offenses that don’t exist.
As much as people want to fight a God, I’m more interested in relevant events in the game world. The effects of Thaumanova’s meltdown continue to screw stuff up to this day, it wouldn’t hurt to learn more about it. Ellen has my vote(s).
People always confuse NEED and WANT …..why?
That isn’t even the problem.
The problem is that someone could have started farming coffers since the second Dragon Bash started and never stopped playing the game for a second until right this second, and still never get a weapon ticket.
Someone could blow (hypothetically, I hope no one actually does) thousands upon thousands of dollars on Rich Coffers, and not get a ticket.
The potential amount of gametime and farming required could eclipse the amount of time it would take to make a Legendary and someone could still not get a ticket.
It’s not even a matter of people whining over wanting things, RNG is just a horrible idea since it’s entirely possible people could get shafted like this, and I dare anyone to say that it’s a great idea.
You can have RNG in this game, but only if there’s some sort of way to definitely work towards the rewards, and no, I don’t mean something insane like one billion Zhaitaffy.
I had transmuted it with an account bound backpack strap (I have no idea where I got it from) and that made the wings account bound.
Great idea.
I also feel like there should be more difficulty to events besides “Moar doods”
