I’m starting to think Discord is actually paying people now to promote them…

Duelers that duel in heavy-traffic areas or within range of guards (which causes something to contest) should be run over. There are plenty of places on a map where no one will ever see you where you can go have your 1v1.

That being said, if I run up on a 1v1 and I have even a slight thought that it wasn’t a consensual duel, I’ll do what I can to down the opponent BUT I will not spike. I’ll run off to the next thing and leave it up to my team mate to decide. If it was a duel, then he’ll let him rez. If it wasn’t, then I leave it up to him to finish. That’s the solution that works for me.

I’m in the camp that absolutely despises map completion. I’ve just recently completed it a second time in order to get the GoE and it is the most excruciatingly ridiculous and unfun thing I think I’ve ever had to do in GW2. And much to my horror, I want another GoE so I’m going to have to do it all over again. Not being a PvE’er just compounds my dislike for it.

They could always make it so siege can damage itself with it’s own blast. Catas at point blank range would kill themselves.

Not a big deal to me personally. GoB are easy to earn in 6ish hours. Heck I could earn that on reset night (with lots more ancillary loot) if I burned the midnight oil. There is some precedent as one of the guild hall upgrades also took a legendary crafting item (Gift of Music was it?).

Having this cat isn’t a requirement to play the game, it’s a bragging right.

If you used staff in WvW on your Guardian (probably all of we Guardians, especially in lag fests), you were probably in melee range anyways in ball vs. ball fighting. This shouldn’t change much in that respect.

Maybe this will encourage people to quit camping staff.

This item is insanely priced. I would fully support this at a lower price point AND if the ability to convert 80 tomes of knowledge to one of these items were a thing. The “cost” for the conversion would be not getting any of the drops that you would normally get if you did it 1 level at a time like now.

Do you get the same free stuff that comes along with the expansion instant-80? (gear, bags, etc.)? Because if so then I would change my view to this: 2000gems for all the goodies is fine BUT also allow conversion of tomes for a “plain” instant-80 that provides nothing else beyond the levels.

edit: and while I’m wishing: at least allow some small degree of equipment stat selection. Maybe the core stat choices.

Or you could just play on the other three maps.

@Odokuro I’ve seen queues on ebg on some servers of 60+ with no significant presence of that server on any other map PLUS their home bl almost completely another color. Amazing really.

Once per day max would be nice. Could be a happy medium between the “many-keys-per-day keyrunners” that were apparently a huge blight on anets profit margins and the once-per-week we have currently.

There is occasionally a GM at this event that can help you. I was able to get what I needed for Zap. They can’t get you through the gate but can help with the item you need.

Legendary items (armor, backpieces, weapons, etc.) are not about instant gratification. 3 Months is a paltry amount of time.

I think this sounds pretty freakin amazing. I’ll keep an open mind and try it out and am optimistic! WvW Air Force. Woot!

You know what I think would really impress players? Have a GM stand at the locked gate in Vexa’s Lab for a little while and offer to move players to the other side (I think they can shift players’ map coordinates).

Sound advice. This is exactly how I received the item I needed to continue my Bolt III: Zap collection today. All I can say is keep a character in the main room and check in occasionally. Keep an eye out for characters with a “Gm” in the front of their name. As an added security feature, they whisper in GOLD text.

I feel your pain and can add this:

I can’t even complete the stuff necessary for the VANILLA legendaries. The dang events are broken for some of the collections and there’s no patch/update in sight.

One thing is kinda funny though: Multiples times a day I hop onto a character that I have parked at one of the broken events and see all the other people over and over again that keep doing the same thing as me. We’re like “sup…still broke as $%#@?”. “Yeap”. log off

So after an update yesterday I ported immediately there to see if the event had restarted. Several other people had the same idea and we made short work of the enemies that spawn from the jail cells. After they were all defeated, everything once again “broke” and the mission would not progress.

A few of us chatted and I discovered that this affected more than just the Bolt legendary journey but other legendary journeys as well. We submitted in-game bug reports as well as reports on the gw2 web site.

PLEASE FIX THIS EVENT. I need my precursor now more than ever for the impending expansion.

I wrote off 85% of the human population as a complete and utter waste of time. My life became considerably more stress-free after I made that decision.

Yeah, i’m 99% sure they said you get the whole gw2 experience for that 29.99 price point (and the higher versions too). Vanilla gw2 and xpac 1

edit: we’ve since learned that this is not the case. You will get vanilla gw2 + the new xpac. You will not get HoT unless you purchase it separately (or bundle it together on the gw2 web site for an extra $20)

I have the exact same problem. I also need to complete this event but it seems to be stalled.

Logged in today for an attempt at silver doubloons and noticed that there is no longer a chest at the end of the Under New Management jumping puzzle in Southsun Cove.

It’s completely gone. Anyone know what’s up with that?

I can also corroborate what trailofsalt has observed: In several of my local Target’s, not only have the cards disappeared but there is no longer a stock location or tag for them. They are truly gone from my local stores.

I’m not a PvP’er so please forgive my attempt to describe this in layman’s terms:

This is also possible on the map that has the big laser thingie. On the blue side for sure, not positive about the red side. I’ve seen enemy inside the spawn area.

Edit: I can’t see the OP’s pictures but the rest of the thread mentions Kyhlo so I’m assuming those pictures don’t reference the same map I mentioned.

I can now report that it is happening to me in PvE as well. I’m working on map completion (ugh….) to make a legendary and I have to relog approximately 3 times per map now.

In my case the screen always takes 121 seconds (in PvE and in WvW). I’ve always had -maploadinfo so I can see exactly how long it takes and I also see that it continues to reload the same assets over and over again for the entire time.

We should find some way to duplicate this issue in a Raid. It’d get fixed lickety split.

If you wanted to give the OP an alternative way of getting the Elite trait line, why didn’t you say so? Like:

“OP, you can also play WvW so you don’t have to do hero challenges in PvE. It works like that: You do this and that, and then, when you create a new character, you can use this/that to unlock the elite traits.”

You don’t even tell how it works, do you have to collect things in WvW that you can use to purchase hero points? Do you get hero points just by playing WvW? I have no idea, and the OP probably neither. Your post arrived at my address like this: “Ha, I have a smarter and faster way to get the Elite traits than you guys, I play WvW!”

Btw. I sometimes do hero challenges despite already having done them before, because just like you play WvW to WvW, many people play PvE to PvE, and as a side effect, they get hero points and other stuff.

Honestly, nothing special here. You play some hours to get the elite unlocked, others play 30 minutes HoT Hero Point train and get it unlocked. For me, the latter sounds like more fun, faster and easier. Thank goodness for 10 point hero challenges in PvE!

YMMV however and I’m happy that you’re happy doing Hero Point Trains but the OP clearly stated he hates doing them. Kudos to you though.

I’m not sure if this is inspirational or “demotivational” but here’s my story:

I have a level 35 solo-built guild hall. My initial desire was to do something to help my server in WvW and in order to do that I needed to claim and upgrade my hall far enough to get all the WvW buffs, be able to level a scribe, and gain access to the various banners, tactivators, etc. I just completed my vitality-on-claim buff a couple of nights ago and I’m really thrilled with my progress.

This is not an instant-gratification kind of thing and there are some obstacles you will face.

The first obstacle is the most obvious: claiming your guild hall. I put up an LFG and spammed VB for a few minutes until I had 4 kind souls to fill my party and we claimed the hall on our first try.

The second obstacle is guild favor. MANY GUILD MISSIONS CAN BE COMPLETED WITH ONLY 1 PERSON
*Guild bounties – help from others on the map is a plus. I’ve always found lots of help by asking in map chat
*Guild races – wait to start these until prime time when other guilds are also doing them as their completions count towards your totals as well
*5-location guild treks – use a character with map completion for the easiest time
*Obsidian Sanctum WvW jumping puzzle

• WvW rank (10k) – I haven’t tried this but it seems possible providing you’re with a good zerg and getting lots of kills. Boosters may be required to maximize your chances

The third obstacle is the depth of your pockets. Again, this isn’t an instant gratification kind of thing. The first few upgrades will come fast and furious, especially if you’ve already started to accumulate guild favor in anticipation of your claim (start guild missions now even if you haven’t claimed your hall). After that the speed of your upgrades will be limited by the materials you can acquire BUT they will also be limited by how quickly you gain aetherium. The aetherium gain actually slows progress a bit, which is good because it allows you more time to gather materials.

Good for you, I’m proud of you, but you still haven’t answered MY question – do you, or do you NOT want more people playing WvW?

Do I need the rewards, no, but I am NOT most people. MOST people new to WvW are going to look at this reward system and how long it takes to get anything as a new player and not even bother.

We want the people who will play WvW and stick around. NOT the people who cry over not getting the mode-specific rewards fast enough and then running away from that game mode as fast as possible once they get those rewards.

This is not instant gratification. Stick around and EARN it, just like everyone else did with all their years of “service” to WvW.

I’d rather see a checkbox for “repeat this track” so I didn’t have to keep changing it back to the one track I’d like to keep repeating.

I play WvW because it’s fun.

The rewards for me are secondary, but so far I think I’ve been fairly successful. I’m currently in Silver rank (700ish) so I’m earning 2 pips from that. My server is usually in 2nd or 3rd place so I’m not earning the max pips because of our placing in the matchup. But I try to play on the more sparsely populated maps, thus maximizing my chances of outmanned pips. This has all netted me enough tickets to purchase the 2nd tier backpack and have a few tickets left over. Because I’m a scout/roamer/repairer/builder by nature I’ve been concerned about maintaining my participation but even after the recent changes I’ve been successful so far. Time will tell though…

I also finished up the Triumphant armor skins (thus unlocking the new ticket skins) and am currently working my way through the Hero weapon skin in order to unlock them as well.

I’m pretty pleased with the reward system right now. As for perspective on my tenure, I’m coming up on my first character’s birthday in a few weeks! :thumbsup:

A full soldier thief (Staff/SB), contested our EBG keep close to 5 hours, we managed in that time to kill him twice, he always came to the same spot, 5 hours to him having fun and getting pips while our keep was contested, so we don’t use our WP. we had to log our thieves and follow him and among many tries we managed to kill him those couple of times, and it was a waste of time. I stayed there just watching (7+ players) following him around trying to kill him, and always failing. He does no dmg, and can’t kill anyone, but our keep WP was useless for 5+ hours, now how is that fair?
no player, no matter how skilled he is, and no matter what class he uses can kill such thief, he always run away with tons of dodges and avoidance, and then come back to the same location within seconds.

I think I know who that is. He plagued our matchup for a few weeks. That seemed to be his full time job.

THAT WAS MY FIRST THOUGHT AS WELL! hahahaha. I swing between scorching an entire battlefield (very rare) and at the end surrounded by a pile of corpses while wondering wtf I just did and failing so horribly that I could have done better if I had played with my feet…with Crocs on. I’m certain I’ll never be caught on video during one of my good days.

My second thought was: I wish I knew how to play Revenant (and warrior, guardian, thief, ranger, engineer, elementalist, mesmer, and necro…) But mostly Rev after watching that vid.

I’m a full time WvW’er and occasionally dabble in a bit of PvE and I miss them a lot.

More (and smaller) guild halls. Similar to the GW1 halls. Some of them seem pretty amazing.

A guild hall “zoo” or menagerie. Some way to allow animals, pets, or even mini’s to roam around the guild hall.

Anything to make the guild halls seem more “alive”. Roaming people, etc. The guy at the tavern was always talking about making stew or something so people would travel in to taste it. Where are those people?

I’ve got a guild hall thing going on right now in case you couldn’t tell… So much opportunity with them.

This happens a lot in WvW on the walls of the northern towers in the desert BL too.

“Polymock” is really the only answer.

I’d even go for some guild missions that didn’t necessarily offer guild commendations but were more “Guild Mission Lite” types of things. For example:

Guild Hall Treasure Hunt: Find a randomly placed treasure chest in your guild hall. Successfully finding the chest rewards you with 5 silver, 2 loot bags, and rewards the guild with 50-100 favor.

Just some minor fun activities with minor rewards.

I vote for that mysterious hero that
*refreshes siege because the other 70 people that just blew through ran right by it
*stays behind after something has been saved and spends the next 10 minutes repairing the gate or wall because the zerg couldn’t be bothered
*scouts the enemy and reports where they are so the friendly zerg can smash them and get much loot
*scouts structures so we don’t lose that t3 keep because the other 70 people on the map can’t be bothered to look at the map screen and see that the wp is contested and investigate why
*pre-builds siege so that something can be defended against overwhelming numbers and then does it all over again after it flips and re-flips
*speeds that yak along it’s path because you only need 67 more to get that wp!

Seriously, you know who you are (probably every server has at least one). YOU DA REAL MVP

@SweetPotato: I did the same thing that’s already been suggested. I used LFG and a tiny bit of /m chat spam asking for help claiming my solo guild hall. I’m up to level 32 so far!

at the very least toss them into a reward track or something. I’m luke-warm on gem store stuff.

So just to reiterate some of the solutions that have already been stated:
1. Put Team chat in a separate tab
2. Block Team chat altogether
3. Select the option that shows the map the “speaker” is currently on. When they say “blob at south bay”, it will say BBL next to their name and you can see that their callouts is from the Blue borderland
4. Block the heck out of all hiney-hole attention seekers that continue to clog up /t chat with their silliness.
