A bug story

So today I was trying to do the daily fractal, I usually PUG it so I used the LFG tool.

I tried to join a couple groups but I was too late and those were already filled in.
I finally joined a group and I got the window to enter the instance which I promptly clicked.
I was rewarded with a double loading screen one for going into the instance and shortly after one for loading LA, nope I had not been kicked, the instance was bugged, tried to relog, but nope didn’t fix it.
I told my group it was bugged and left the party to search for another party.
I was rewarded with a greyed out “join” button because I had joined too many groups, I thought “great a bug and I’m punished for it…”
A couple minutes later I can join groups again, “look a party?” Too late, it is full…. “oh ####, I’m punished for joining too many groups again…..”
The aforementioned punishment happens once more but eventually I manage to get into a group and finally enter (successfully) the instance.
We complete the fractal uneventfully.
I finish the daily netting me 10 APs which today means AP chest time, nice even though this one doesn’t have anything noteworthy, just some junk among which there is 15 mystic forge stones, "ok let’s stash them with the rest of them in the bank. " Bad news they aren’t like the rest of them any more, they are a different item now, even it seems identical and they refuse to stack. This was too much, I’m done for today.

Fix fractals bugging out, this was an old bug that was fixed like year ago but for some reason it’s been back since HoT launch.
For LFG tool, do not count for anti spam system attempts to join a party that failed for good reasons beyond player’s control.
And make sure single items don’t get two IDs or whatever makes the seem different for the game.

Two boring mini bosses to go after real boss
Boss is basically a bloat of HP
One shot sequence with little explanation and bugs
Oh did I mention bloated HPs…

Man made fed up with the story, it’s all wrong. I honestly think Zaitan’s fight was better, sure it was completely unchallenging but at least didn’t chore players with what 30 minutes of mindless hacking at DPS sponge?

At least a LS seasson will be part of HoT, but possibly more than one.

I think they plan to release a limited amount of permanent content and add more as they go, they did so in GW1 and they have done it even more in GW2.

Specially after them making the core game F2P I think we should see the HoT license, not so much as a game but as a ticket pass for next few LS seasons and some extra permanent content. People without HoT won’t have access to most of it.

I have to say I loved the daredevil concept so great job ANET.

That said the execution is still a bit cumbersome, it is meant to be an agile toon but it feels heavy on the keyboard because some animations are too long and unresponsive.

I am sorry OP, but you are recalling the past as way better than it was.
When Nightfall was released there was a series of skills / professions that were better than everything else.
Dervishes dominated PvP.
Searing Flames was (by a long margin) the best elite skill available to elementalists.
And so on.

HoT won’t be different, some stuff on it is going to be over powered (and this is imposible toa void when releasing so many new mechanics) and while everything will eventually get honestly balanced, ANET is not going to be overly zealous about nerfing it too fast unless it’s blatantly broken (*), it’s just the way the world works.

(*) Dervishes were nerfed pretty fast because PvP got for a few days just [self redacted]. SF on the other hand was the best elementalist skill for a long time.

If I go to the supermarket and see a pack of youghurts and the label says “1$ for one get 3 for free” I know each of them is worth 25 cents, simple as that. I already own GW2 I don’t want to buy it again.

And that’s not going into the price itself, which from what I know about HoT’s content so far it really doesn’t look like a good deal.

I supose you do, I respect it, but honestly things couldn’t get more unexciting for me than the blitz.

Sure there are random rules that forbid zerging, but seriously when you kill any of those six bosses, do you feel more achieved than when you killed queensdale’s troll??

I used to kill the troll in queensdale while having breakfast, u know one hand in cofee and another in the mouse, doing it wasn’t exciting but had it’s right mood and momment. The blitz bosses fall in a blan middle ground, easy yet annoying s**t to get done.

Hopefully it’s the same old versions of the old festival/events. I’d really hate it if Anet is again dumping work in tenporary grindy content, I’d rather think they learnt something from LS seasson 1 and are working on meaningfull and lasting content … meanwhile, please ANet, re-release some of those little patches from last seasson so we have something to do.

Well that’s what I wish at least …. who knows what they are doing, but despite the claims of Anet being focused in the china release, that’s a missleading claim: to release an already done(mostly) game you don’t need artists, level designers, voice actors, writers you need ITs who know how to set up the servers, so those other people not involved in the deploying of the game must be doing something and I doubt they are having kittentails and dancing … I just hope I truly like whatever new stuff comes in the future, but them taking more time than last time surely is a GOOOD sign.

PS: The autocensor is kitten.
PS2: For once that last kitten wasn’t due to censorship :P

I’m geting tired of hearing cryes from Desolation players, I understand losing in the alst minute hurts, but get over it and look at the broader picture: SFR focus 50/50, the match lasts a whole week not just the last 3-4 hours, so did it cross your mind that you were slightly ahead of BB becuase before of SFR siding with BB it had been placing most focus on BB? Nope, jsut cry.

When two servers focus the other, the other can only defend, i know because this happened this week to BB sometimes, you can’t win then, but you can limit your loses and score as much as u can, Desolation completly failed at that, Desolation didn’t just lose to a focus, it was steamrolled, next time play better and instead of losign by 300 points you’ll win by 300 points.

I just did one of the smoothest PUG CoF1 runs in a long time, it was a wild party composition we even had a necro, didn’t matter bosses just melted, but I supose we were all on carrion’s gear :P

I know very few people who haven’t goten more than enough worth of the 50$ this game costs, and I know lots of people who have left, none of them paid more than 1$/€ per hour, a show or entertainment can’t get much cheaper than that. So just buy the kitten thing, if you get just one toon to level 40 it’s worth it.

I really like the general idea of the feature, I really do.

What I don’t understand is why that obsesion with automatism, is it so hard allowing player a choice of the kind of server they want to end in in an explicit changeable way?

A drop down list like in GW1 would be great it was a let down when I learnt of the district system of GW2 at release, guesting improved it a lot, but it still is cumbersome in comparisson. With Megaserver system it seams a drop list with the current “worlds” in a given area and a description of each (language, RP…) that leats you travel to them without loging out is just a tiny step away and it would be such a huge improvement for the game.

Also I think guilds should be able to build a new improvement at a huge influence and merits costs:
Guild Raid: Open a private instance of a map only guild members or people partying with them can join.

Also champ farming in Queen’s Dale, you can get a level every 20 minutes or so which is prety fast specially considering you earn rather than spend ….. it’s boring though.

Eles don’t heal much, ppl smashing your water fields DO, it is their healing power that counts not yours.

Eles should worry about the following WvW:

  • Killing Stuff
  • Geting the right fields under the commanders feet at the right momment
  • And most importantly not geting killed so you rally several foes (valid for everyone actually).

Find the right balance and you’ll be an asset for your world, until now I considered celestial to be a decent trade off between survivaility and damage in WvW, after 15th update celestial will only be good to salvage for dark matter :P

Not enough gold sinks?

The big gold sink is the 15% tax on TP sales, what is more if gold sinks aren’t enough prices go up and the TP tax grows, eventually balancing creation / destruction of gold again.
That’s why those silly “sinks” of repairs and respec fees are absolutely unnecessary and are being removed. I might have spent 2-4g in respecs, meanwhile I probably lost 100s of gold to TP tax.

Personal Story was a single player experience of low quality story telling that mostly consisted of you using WP to travel around Tyria get into a scene kill 5 guys, get out, rinse and repeat.

LS flaws:

  • Singleplayer in an MMO game
  • Poor story telling
  • No challenge, its difficulty is addressed at newbies

So please, I don’t care how next living story will be called, but if they do call it personal story please make it not in any way like the original PS, PS is doubtlessly the lowest quality part of this game.

While I agree it’s an improvement I also agree with some people on this thread that that artificial wall we will all reach sooner or later is a bit silly. Wouldn’t it be much better and very easy to implement a hard cap to max AP you can get each day from daily?

Something like 5 daily tasks to get the daily reward and 8 AP from daily per day rings right to me.
And similarly, max 60 AP from monthly per month.

Initiative is basically a shared cooldown of all weapon skills for thiefs, a thief bursting runs through initiative in 1-2 seconds. How long does it take for another class to get all skills in CD?

Not to mention chill is a very common and long lasting condition and condition removal for thiefs isn’t exactly outstanding, what you are asking is for thiefs to be shutdown alltogether.

Stealth is a dirty tactic, some people get angry at geting backstabed to death, while that’s understable, one shouldn’t confuse beign beaten dirty with overpowerness. There is one role and just one role where thieves are the best of all classes: WvW roaming. In all other modes they range from good to sucky, let them enjoy their minute of glory in WvW, otherwise why play thief?

Yeah, while defiants is a very crude mechanic the point is inmune to CC bosses can be killed faster than anyway else in zerker equipment without CCing them, defiant or not.

Player damage taken needs to change form, dodge is a bad mechanic, I know it’s active and involving but it’s the true mother of all GW2 problems. Other stuff could be tweaked for better, but removing the ability to become invulnerable once every 5 seconds regardles of: class, build, equipment == everything is paramount.

Since that’s not gonna happen becuase it would be a too strong step for Anet I think, a partial fix would be to decrease the rate of “one”-shot skills and add more smaller yet more frequent damage sources so pasive defences become meaningfull.

Everyone who bought berserker equipment did so becuase it offered the damage, it will still do so. Why would you want to use another equipment then?

Celestial equipment on the other hand will change roles completly since it will sink in a bottomless pit of low DPS.

Most people have been playing so long in zerker gear and builds that don’t know there are other posibilities, some setups allow to stack several regen-like effects in a team that when powered by healing power can add together well over 1K heal/second party wide. Add to that the healing skill, personal regen-like effects (healing signet…) and the inmunes, reflects that non zerkers can use too… and you don’t need to use a dodge in most bosses; of course that is if you drop your DPS in exchange of healing power, not so smart actually, but imposible NOPE.

I keep facepalming every time I hear this. I’ve experimented with lots of builds I can say that assumption is totally false.

Anet intended to let us play “the way we want” and they succeeded: stacking on vit, thoughness and healing power works. Of course stacking on power, precission, crit.damage works too and is also faster and more efficient than the former so it rules.

But it is not becuase you get “one shot” by bosses, bosses one shot zerkers, if you stack enough resilience and healing you don’t need to dodge a single time, just facetank bosses for minutes until they die of old age rather than damage. Meanwhile somewhere else in Tyria, the zerker group has completed the content and moved to the next speed clear.

I am prety sure everyone complaining about condition damage are refering to PvE, so let’s focus.

In PvE conditions are weak, they can work sure, but except in some very custom tailored events, conditions are always inferior to sheer berserkerness.

Sure condition damage has better base damage but that means nothing when the lower direct damage base begins acumulating damage multipliers, each of them compounding with each other. Meanwhile in condition damage land the only meaningfull “compounding” they can get is condition duration and it’s one of the worst “damage modifiers” since the longer a condition lasts the easier it is overwrititen thus shafting the damage in a very compounding NEGATIVE modifier to damage.

I am quite happy with the trait changes overall I only wish they woudl implement a trait configuration save system …. please. It involves a lot of clicking to reconfigure a trait config, refund, realocate points, pick all majors, doing that during a run will interrupt it for significant ammounts of time that seams to go against the spirit of the change: “allowing seamless trait changes” and i woulso add: “giving people who truly master a profession an edge over those who just master a build”
I would also prevent trait changes in dungeons and fractals.

In terms of new charqacter I undestand the problems pointed out, but I think most people are overstating them. First of all when I leveled characters 1 to 30 was fun and 31 to 80 was very boring, they are trying to improve that long boring stretch which has its cons sure, but makes sense to me all in all. The having to unlock the traits, and there will be 65 per class, might become a chore when oyu are leveling your 3rd or 4th alt.

I honestly don’t think Lion’s Arch is going to disapear for good, at most it will be unavailbale for a few days:

A new HUB isn’t exactly what I’d call a real content addition but it does take a lot of work to make.
It isn’t just the HUB as in merchants, Mystic Toilet and all, what about al the Personal Story instances that start there? Are they going to change all those too?

It’s not that they can’t it’s that imo it’s a hell of work to do just to get a new place for merchants to stand in.

The cutscene says it clearly: Lion’s Arch is “under siege”, it never says it will be conquered …. but we’ll see.

For an all-stat gear, Critical Damage was WAY too high in comparison to gear that relied on it. It should have been lower to begin with.

The problem ANET is addressing is zerker dominance in PvE. Reading that sentence carefully will quickly make clear that:
They are addresing a zerker problem, not a celestial problem.

You know why? Because celestial has nothing of overpowered despite it being true that it gets more crit damage than it should, that extra crit.damage barely makes it usable, many of those extra stats celestial gets are barely noticeable like thoughness or some prety much useless like healing power, so shafting power by half in a DPS oriented game is prety much pointless.

If by Zerg you mean a lot of people roaming around together, that’s because more people are generally more powerfull than less, so the motivation is wining, and people want to win.

If by Zerg you mean a profesional tightly packed bunch of organized players facerolling anyone not tighly packed themselves that’s becuase attacks in this games are limited to 5 targets mazimum no matter how large the area is, so any player over the 1st 5 inside a lava font doesn’t get damage: the motivation here is outgoing damage concentration and incoming damage spread. It’s quite stupid actually since in real life armies spread out to mitigate damage, they din’t stack together under the boiling oil.

Guess damaging everyone in an aoe would dilute zergs, or at least spread them out in a front, but then ranged players would dominate the meta most probably.

I hate Mai Trin fight, it is not a boss fight, it’s a cheating NPC mixed in with jumping puzzle and ludicruos mechanics I can not withstand. I did that dungeon once and never again bothered, that was my call and I was prevented from playing 1 dungeon because of it. Yeah it’s an irrational fobia, but it’s just as real, nothing in this game annoys me nearly as much, I will not say exactly how much because I’d get banned because of foul language, and quite rightly.

The point is: before I din’t get much enjoyment from one living story it was my call and the price I paid, now Mai Trin threatens to kick me out of fractals, a place I otherwise love.

No one has soloed it no matter how much they try to feed their egos on a forum, this is open world, you get help (or in this case harm too) from other players regardless of you being in a party or not, if you think being partyless means you soloed it you need to think more.

Turns out if you have the crab, channel the runing skill and drop the crab just before it ends it never goes into CD resulting in infinite runing around for everyone else’s frustration and cheating.

Sugested change: disable the droping of bundles in Toss Crab activity.

I remember last year, in the early stages of the JP you were trying hard just to see your character, this year it’s hard to see the “competition”, all in all it’s made thr “hadest ever JP in GW2” a “yeah that was kind of hard JP”
Not saying it shouldn’t be like that, but I remember spending over 2 hours last year to get to the top….2 tries this year, sure experience matters but…. it felt lackluster and what is worst it devaluated my memory of last years “real” challenge.

You get that when you are about to be “oozed”, that said they do nothing other than graphics. I’ve run this JP multiple times and fell into the ooze a gazillion times but skeletal hands never had anything to do with it, just my clumsiness. And when I succeded it, it wasn’t becuase the hands were nice to me, but because I jumped fast and right.

There is nothing more (nor less) to it, jump it fast and right.

While Fw/Up certainly is harder than it ever was, and while i certainly becomes nigh-on-imposible if you fail the boss fight the first time, anyone who wants this should be able to get it.

There are two working solutions, both need to work in the first try, or restarting the whole dungeon is easier:

a) Faster but harder to pull out: Simply stack within the treeboss and DPS it while avoiding a whipe with proyetctile screens and pushing away the few mele foes; guardians, eles and mesmers excel at control, while warrior excel at the DPSing part as always.
b) Slower: Simply make sure you have plenty of swiftness buffs and have the party “orbit” the tree in the same direction while range DPSing it … slow but does work with no requirement in party composition, of course helaings and all kinds of defensive booon and utilities help.

All that said, this boss encounter should reset as all the others do … or well go for true dificulty so no bosses reset, but having this one not reset while all others do can only be seen as bug.

Crafting is boring and always will be, it consists on clicking and watching a bar fill after all. Having to browse a guide to learn a complicated recipe and craft several subcomponents to craft the final product will simply be a compounded bore.

¿What’s the point? I came here to play, not read guides about a complicated for no reasson crafting system.
