Crashes in beta map and now no character (beta or normal) can log in.
Lost? Confused? Lonely? Hungry? Kidnapped?

Gliding could offer other uses for siege weaponry and introduce “AA siege items”
Eg: Flameshrike Rocket: Launch at air targets: (unlock 3-5 with WvW XP)
1. Rapid shot x4 in succession, single target
2. Single launch with Airburst AOE Fireball (Enemy have chance of catching fire)
3. Single launch with Airburst AOE Fear (Enemy literally drop from the sky)
4. Single launch with Airburst AOE Targets Marked (Continue to show on map +60 secs after they have dissapeared from visual range, even if they are on the ground: magically marked that can only be removed by portalling back, or for the duration to run out (60s))
5. [Specific to class using the AA, so 9 possibilities]
Also from what I recall this beta slot in HoT had a rather (annoying) feature:
It was not in a guild.
So you didn’t see guild chat.
Will this be resolved in this beta weekend?
Orr (pun intended) will they be only available within the PoT content?
After all, gliding did migrate into the core f2p zones from HoT, and into the PoT (end of LS Season 3 area)
So with gliding in central tyria…
Would it be possible to glide from the top of Rata Sun to the map zones below it?
Please.
If gliding was possible in Tyria then there should also be some of the Avian mobs around to snack on the unwary.
In no particular order:
Ambient crow
Eagles
Griffons
Jornmag
My main (Tsathogguha, a highly intelligent Asura Mesmer), discovered a Tenebrous Shard by using her “means to gather crafting materials protocol” on the Guild resource nodes in the Guild Hall.
She wonders if you have correctly applied the protocol to enable you to acquire this material? She is disappointed if you are an Asura and did not apply the scientific technique. Of course, if you are a Bookah * then it is to be expected.
Bookah *: accessed online: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Language
“Bookah” is a large, loud, bellowing, and dumb imaginary creature that the Asura used to frighten their children. Since their surfacing, they use the term to refer to those they view as inferior beings, which to them is almost everyone who is not an Asura
Or the option that if someone has unlocked the Mentor level then they can use the
/comrades
command to remove all mentor tags on their map display as they quite rightly believe that they do not need mentoring!
Or the requirement that anything chatted while using /mentor active costs 1 silver per line of chat, not that prohibitive but also helps vs a lot of spam.
Sometimes the Mentor tag is useful, Sometimes a commander tag is not useful (“Hey are you going to move from that spot, oh your afk, well whats the point of me coming here…”)
Mesmer also can do good conditions, certainly crowd control skills and torment.
“Elite” just as others have stated – can only have 1 Elite Trait.
Just because we only currently have 1 Elite Trait, doesn’t mean future expansions won’t come out with their own ‘Elite’ traits, thereby giving you the choice of more than 1 “Elite” traits, but still only being able to equip 1 “Elite” Trait
The main benefit with the “Elite” trait is that it also comes with unlocking a equipped item, you would not normally be able to equip.
I’m expecting future expansions to come out with Expansion specific “Elite” traits.
As long as the players “Grinding” don’t post in the forums in about 1 month time that “there’s nothing to do” while those who choose not to take this “shortcut” still have plenty to explore.
I like it so much that I don’t do my Daylies in Tyria.
Can we have some Daily relevant to the area we are in?
It is possible to play solo, but you may want to reveal your build here before you declare its’ impossible to play Solo. Think a lot of normal Tyria (the training zone) metas will not be viable for HoT (the advanced area).
You may have to take different items to swap in/out.
And yes some mobs are not solable (even with mesmer clones).
[Wonders how many people claiming it is not solo-able are running full zerker gear]
Or how to, if you need to, and have got Heart of Thorns teleport to anyone who is in your party and (a friend). With the map now displaying all guild members, select the one you need, party, and Whe-hey get to that location.
Of interest to those going for a guild hall and their members may not have got to this location yet, or for those really needing to get to some places.
You will need to have had a Birthday with your character..
I really do like this expansion, for 3 years my Condi Mesmer has been grumbling – now its’ viable even more in pve: but you do need to use dodging more and more awareness of the environment. I like the fact its hard, as it should be. And unlocking the elite trait is taking time – gives a sense of achievement.
All my Asura now wants is Insect/Bumble-bee wings in the gemstore, with the added emote ability to /bzzz
I Vote Taimi for Marshal of the Pact.
When has an Asura plan ever failed.
[Pause for effect, to let the Bokkah viewers catch up. Checks Golem, and various experiments. Returns to the forum and hypothesises that non-Asura may have disseminated the question and have started to formulate an answer. Waits a moment longer connecting the red wire to the green terminal. Golem informs that FF 09 86 78 23 93 92 84 Active. Smiles. Checks forum again. Picks up a cattle prod just in case mental stimulation of you, the reader is required, and now you are reading..]
Never.
Asura plans just produces different scientific outcomes. Some very interesting.
This is why Taimi should become Marshal of the Pact.
In the first year of the game, the competition to slide the furthest down the outside of Rata Sun without Dying (And still remaining on the lowest possible part)
Convincing a guild mate that the April Fools Aviator Costume allowed you to fly when jumping off somewhere high. He tried 2x .. thought the first jump wasn’t high enough.
And I know one WvW player whose ultimate quaggan gear would be a Quaggan Golem.
Forced Engagement – Taunt and Slow enemy. Can be used to interrupt enemies. 1 second cast, with 50% energy cost. 3 second cooldown.
This one I found really interesting with some of the traits also selected (taunt), it appeared to really scupper thieves, necros and elementalists once downed, makin these hard to kill evasive beings on WvW … dead.
Mine was fine:
Soldier armour / Traveller Runes
(+attributes, Condi dam / condi duration, extra speed)
Mixture of trinkets
(Kept some celestial)
(Put in some zerker)
Mainly used:
Mace / Axe
What could be interesting if weapon skills could charge up, rather like firing a mortar, hold down the button for longer time, taking more energy into the weapon and then releasing with more power and/or range.
[Suggestion] 5th Trait line:
“Sight without sight”
The revenant selecting this trait line perceives the world behind their blindfold, to see the crux of the environment, through the ethereal plane.
The set bonuses for this trait:
[N] The condition blind does not affect you, as you intentionally wear a blindfold.
[M] Targets you call are visible to all allies, not just those in your group
[X] On swapping heroes, you have 10% chance of detecting foes who are in stealth. The chance to detect increases with increased energy for use.
Now to think for some really useful “Heartbeat” skills ( Aka the trait line )
Yes, that would work!
And it would please a certain mind-set of people without impacting on the community as a whole.
[Humour]
I think the achievement “I got to Silverwastes/Pacman with a level 10 character, without any help and without dying” though, is my best personal achievement, although the title probably would be “Insane”.
[/Humour]
“I did it the hard way”
For a character who got from level 1 – 80 without using any boosts from xp scrolls, tomes of knowledge or birthday up-levelling scrolls. This would unlock this title!
[Speculation,Suggestion] Traits/ jungle races
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Byakhee.8652
It’s be cool if by unlocking these trait lines you had the chance to activate event(s) that were not available to be activated by people not with the activation level, but would allow anyone to assist in the activated event.
If something akin to factions was implemented, where you could get an influence commodity with a particular race, as you acted as an ‘agent’ to get people involved, getting a small bonus reward at the end of the event triggered (bonus open to anyone else involved who is of that Trait’s minimum level requirement).
Could allow for more inclusive events.

Expecting some flames for this but.
I’ve always found it really odd that burning damages the Fire Elemental. Surely use of burning on the Fire Elemental should heal it instead? This world boss could be made more strategic this way.
If it is the case that elemental skills are converting fire —> ice, then maybe its about time the Fire Elemental puts down some floating / orbiting pulsating fire weapons of its’ own that converts all elemental damage to fire, so it can then heal.
This could make this boss more strategic if you also have to remove its’ generated fire weapons also, and you wouldn’t have to do a standard doubling up of health.
Well, I can see it now.
“The City Authorities, in order to enforce health and safety regime requires all users of gliders to register their use, to the sum of 1 gold a minute, while using these unregulated articles in the city. "
“Rata Sum is organising a glide from the top competition, we have provided golems to test your skills at evading enemies, use our powered Air Veteran Elemental Gliders (AVEG), four wings are better than two! These short and stubby wings are high tech conversions based on the insect world. For extra gold you can even make a buzzing sound that will inspire all Bokkahs. Just avoid too much wear on the shields holding the Air Veteran Elemental, otherwise it will escape, and gravity is the least of your worries then”
And, are you really sure you want to glide in FrostGorge and become a mid-air snack for Journmag?
Oh it seems to.
Conditions heavy characters seem to have less loot capability than Zerker heavy characters.
IMHO
The perceived opinion on the forums that I see is “Conditions are overpowered”.
True, those who play condition characters are seeing an upscale of their stacks, but it has been my experience from playing multiple builds from zerker to condi, that zerker still has the greater loot reward than condi.
Consider Tequatl ( Different Days, 1 attempt, each day alternative, better rewards with zerker).
Zerker build: 4 bonus chests at end
Condi build: 3 bonus chests at end
And this tends to happen a lot more frequently, throughout the game.
How many broad damage types are there?
Physical Trauma: / impact / crush / etc
Physical Conditions: / fire / frost / poison
Physical Healing: / negative damage
Mental Conditions: / daze / fear / confusion
Mental Trauma: not present? / skill recharge increase / etc?
Mental Healing: / recovery?
Certainly in GW1 the Mesmer had more of the “Mental Trauma” skills ( Arcane thievery, Signet of Illusion, Backfire) where they would interrupt skills, remove skills from your skill bar, give longer refresh time. Maybe these “Mental Trauma” skills should come back..
And the 3rd way is a suggestion for Quality of loot:
Physical [Suggestion]:
High precision reduces the chance of physically damaging YOUR loot, and yes if your perception is impaired, so the chance of getting miscellaneous damaged goods in the loot.
- Trauma
Ferocity may get in the way of damaging YOUR vital loot, use precision to attempt to avoid areas you would like to be undamaged when you loot.
- Conditions:
Use of fire, frost, etc has a chance of destroying/damaging YOUR loot, use precision to attempt to avoid areas you would like to be undamaged when you loot!
Mental [Suggestion]:
Extra contribution to end of battle based on if you use of Mental skills had a beneficial overall effect on the battle. At the moment the fact you dazed or feared an enemy causing all your allies to hit harder, seems not to have any discernible reward at the end of the battle; compared to physical damage.
After all the physical damage may have been less successful if these Mental skills had not been used.

With the potential of different specialisations, wouldn’t this be the opportune moment to implement an easy one-click to swap between various skill/masteries? Still have to equip items but the headache of trying to remember what to specialise would be easier.
If NVIDIA is everyone’s graphics then it may not be the fault of Anet. NVIDIA’s last game ready graphic update has caused a whole lot of problems in many games for various graphic cards.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/NVidia-Driver-350-xx-GW2-exe-32
If you have an NVIDIA graphics then the below link may help you with the problem
If you are like me and have a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 and made the mistake of updating the game ready drivers to 350.12 then the below link is likely to be highly relevant to your problem
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/NVidia-Driver-350-xx-GW2-exe-32
Lots of other games with same problems. I wonder how many here with graphical problems also have these drivers.
I was having a problem with the GW.exe.32*
I had recently installed NVidia Driver 350.12
Then the problems started.
I had to rollback the NVidia Driver to 347.88
Now there is no problem with the game.
For all those experiencing problems, and if you are NVIDIA users, you may consider a rollback to this version. It works perfectly for me now.
Further info:
350.xx = unable to close GW.exe.32* process in task manager
347.88 = close process down no problems
= faster response in desktop

System Spec:
Windows 7 64bit

NVIDIA Geforce GTX 680 ( This is confirmed to have problems with 350.12 )

Definitely.

NVidia Driver 347.88 was the route for me to go!
(edited by Byakhee.8652)
With me it only recently happened within last week.
The other recently thing I have updated is my NVidia Drivers ( Version 350.12 )
The Affinity thing:
I did also try and starve GW.exe.32* for a bit by lowering its’ priority and giving it no CPUs to use. However, I’m not sure if this helped that much.
The biggest problem is when It happens it prevents GW from submitting any bug reports, is it possible for these to be able to be “saved for later submittance”? The only button to click you have is wait. It is almost like the GW.exe.32* threads are blocking any internet access to Anet.
To check this theory I attempted to run Guild Wars Diagnostic while the problem was running, not sure if this was helpful – it couldn’t see any network paths. However, other internet applications were connecting fine.
Oh, the teamspeak had in the shortcut : " -nosingleinstance
I’m testing removing this now, but it was useful to be in multiple TS groups.
======
Removing the " -noSingleInstance has seemed to help me at the moment from the TS3 shortcut.
======
No. It still has problems.
The route to clear out of task manager was:
Set Afinity: 1 CPU
Wait
Set Afinity: To what it was before,
(edited by Byakhee.8652)
Had the same thing.
However, also had TeamSpeak3 active.
TaskManager would allow you to close processes on GW2-exe-32 but the thread for GW2-exe-32 would still be running, until I also closed down TeamSpeak3 (most recent update), where the process then completed.
Just a Q to all the others here, do you also use TeamSpeak 3?
Gotcha!
And Got someone in my Guild with that April Fool too!!
[Suggestion] Moa Form elite instead uses the form of the last killed ambient…
And you thought you hated the moa!!
In fact, if you ask the imperitor he already said that same thing during the storyline… o.O
The problem with asura technology can be clearly seen in the Silverwaste encampment:
“Now cut the blue wire…” BOOOM
“Was that intentional?”
“You never know with Asura…”The times their technology works, it works magnificantly indeed, but many other times it ends… unfortunatly…
No No No.
You Bookah do not understand, the blue wire ( 05,05,255 ) not the other blue wire ( 04,06,255 ) or that blue wire ( 05,06,255 ), the blue wire ( 05,05,255 ).
Take the leadership of the Skritt.
Organise a Skritt Zerg of 10,000 Skritt ( hive mind ), which would find shiny, yes, yes off most of the players here!! Shiny legendary, yes? Give us shiny!!
And with that Zerg you’d probably be able to beat Tequatl… that is until some of the Skritt make off with the “shiny cannon thing”
And given a new expansion is coming out with a lot of new characters ( although Revenant probably instantly levelled to 20, then tested, then to 80 via various stacked rewards); the newbie zones will be full of lower levels.
The further ¬15% could be there to give the mass influx of lower levels a sporting chance. Some of the world bosses now offer more of a challenge.
I prefer metaphors, and such is my view on this idea.
When Guild Wars 2 was new, four adventurer’s set fourth: Quaggan, Skritt, Hare and Tortoise.
Quaggan thought “Oooooo”, followed by “pretty” and “I wonder if”, and headed off on their own. Not being focussed on any one ideal.
Skritt thought “Shiney”, but then got distracted with other games and split time between other things and Guild Wars 2, returning for new content, Living Stories, Events etc.
Hare thought, “I need to make as much wealth as possible, maybe Karma and other stuff could be used to advance my wealth – I’ll target what is selling for in-game funds, play the Trade Post and target my in game aims to being rather successful. Nothing problem about that, easy come Karma, easy go.”
Tortoise thought, “I don’t really need all that, I’ll spend as little as I need, to unlock skins, or stuff I really want. Maybe if I bank it I’ll spend it on something that I really need.”
Time Passed.
Hare did very well, in advancing ingame presence. Got in early on the Trade Post and soon knew how to buy/sell, with a constant supply of resources.
Tortoise also advanced in game, but built up reserves for “a rainy day”
No one saw Skritt for 6 months than it returned for “Shiney gear” and was seen not as frequent as Hare or Tortoise.
Quaggan had fun.
Then an Asura popped up her head and stated “Things are going to change!”
Hare panicked and thought, “could the changes cause others to take the lead?”
Tortoise thought “Maybe I can spend my banked resources on stuff I really want!”
Skritt thought “Change, what change?” and proceded to speculate on things that had not yet existed
Quaggan thought “Ooooooo.”
So Hare thought, “If i convince Skritt and Quaggan that Tortoise should loose half of their resources, maybe I can catch up with the change.”
Tortoise thought, “Thieving Hare”
Skritt thought, “Yes, Shiney, I want Shiney”
Quaggan thought “Ooooooo.”
Then Tortoise thought, “But if I loose my resources, maybe there should be a retrospective reduction of resource, Hare could then be in debt, but Skritt and Quaggan would be fine as they rarely spent resources”
Hare thought “No, that’s not how I meant it to be”
Skritt thought “I will still get Shiney, yes, yes?”
Quaggan thought “Ooooooo.”
The moral of the story is for the most we all had the opportunity to gain from Guild Wars 2, and chose our own paths and aims. And due to being abscent during a lot of last year, I consider myself to be Skritt. Shiney, Yes Yes Yes.
I hope this helped.

In your shortcut
after the ….\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe"
Where … is from your root to the Guild Wars 2 directory
make it:
…..\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe" -assetsrv 62.154.232.187:80"
Restart GW2
Then that last file will complete in under 1 second!
Then remove the -assetsrv 62.154.232.187:80" from your shortcut and play as usual
Reason:
Its’ a good job I don’t have epilepsy because watching the updater flip between updating and Connection error(s) detected: Retrying screen like a crazy Max Hedroom style blipvert could have sent me loopy.
Anyway, 1 file remaining from about 900 MB to and including 1703 MB makes me wish that once 99% had been reached with 1 file to go it then switched to letting me know just how large this file was. That, or when a patch update is announced the theoretical maximum patch size is given in the update. Give me a chance and others to go and avoid watching a hypnotising flickering screen!
[Slime Barrier]
Covers the outside of a creature, until this is removed by non-crowd control conditions, from a source with equal or greater level of a specified condition attribute the creature is immune from damage. More slime exudes over time. Refer to Tequatal/Scales.
[Reflection Aura]
Surrounds the creature, until this is removed by non-crowd control conditions, from a source with equal or greater level of a specified condition attribute the creature will reflect all ranged damage back to the source of the damage
As level 80 zones, suggested required minimum condition damage
400 – removes 1 point of the effect / application
800 – removes 2 points of the effect / application
1200 – removes 4 points of the effect / application
1600 – removes 8 points of the effect / application
When the effect is removed, the special defence is discarded and normal damage can resume, just keep the effect tick/regen down by repeated application!
Such effects can be overcome by swapping in/out items or by a build that has at least 400 condition damage ( not a lot tbh, could easily be done using adornments ). It also provides work for other build types
This kind of effect could work with other attributes

Yes. I have had some involvement in a non-for-profit mmorpg, and understand credit sinks.
