Makes some of our skills very hard to see, which is fantastic for PvP/WvW.
Marjory’s gets my vote too,
rather than a dagger you wield a sort of green spectral tentacle whip which is cool for a necro!
If you look at the Dagger it is a Snakes Head with the blade coming out the mouth, and the Whip Like effect is the snakes tail.
You see a similar snake motif on her Axe as well.
I normally use Skirmishing, Wilderness Survival and either Druid or Beastmastery
Druid gives you Glyphs, and if traited will clear Conditions as you drop Seeds. And you would probably run 3~4 Glyphs
Beastmastery gives your Winter’s Bite an AoE effect.
I originally went Axe/- and -/Torch combined with Quick Draw can give you a Permament Fire Field uptime.
I just started using Short Bow, and SB #5 is great as a Break Bar ability.
Pets:
Lynx – more Bleeds
Tiger – Buff Pet
Blue Drake for the Break Bar
Red Drake for AoE?
Pink/Black Moa for Break Bar
Bristle Back (another new HoT pet?) Ranged, not bad for Break Bar
1. Viper Armor can be expensive, need a lot of Flax Seed, another option is Sinister.
1.5 Weapons – if you finish HoT you get to choose a Weapon with whatever stats you want, I chose an Exotic Viper Axe. Also if you finish the Weapon Collection for the Warrior you can get a Ascended Torch which I believe you can also get as Viper
2. Trinkets, Backpeice, Amulet, Rings etc… if you get all the Achievements in the last part of HoT you can choose a Viper Amulet, all the others just get from the new LS Maps as mentioned.
3. Jewels – I think the Black Diamond ones are the best for Condi? But I think you will want to fill them with Agony Resistance for Fractals.
4.
5. Crafting – 400 Exotic, 500 Ascended
I use Death, Blood, and Reaper for a 2 Handed Minion Master Build for PvE.
Then I use either a Dagger/Warhorn or Staff for Weapon Swap.
Because Necros have Shroud Form?
Death – 111
Blood – 233 (I like 2 because I use Dagger, and I like to Run Fast)
I used Soul Reaping for last spot, not sure what traits, but I think you could use whatever you like here until you unlock Reaper.
Weapons I went Dagger/Warhorn and Staff (Could use Axe for ranged instead if like)
Then take all Minion Summoning. I only use the Wurm for events or bosses that I will not be moving around on. Can drop one of your minions if you like for the Signet that adds power.
This is for PvE
I enjoy my Warrior a lot more, I feel more Tankier and I do not die as much.
I find on Rev that I am mostly Auto Attacking and just swapping between Shiro, Glint, or the Jarlis. Jarlis and Shiro I tend to only use one ability then switch to the other. Glint I may use 4 of the Auras.
Where on the Warrior I am using almost all my abilities all the time depending on situation and how many Signets I take in my build.
If you want to mess with Break Bars go with Greatsword and Mace/Shield or maybe even Mace/Mace?
Use your Break Bar abilities and swap back to Greatsword, then back to use Break Bar abilities etc.
One of the best Break Bar abilities you can get is the Elite Head Butt in Berzerker.
I save the Rifle for Boss Fight/Encounters where I know I will die in Melee.
I used Dagger/Warhorn and Staff (I liked the AoE Ranged Marks)
Death – 111
Blood – 233
Soul Reaping -222 (did not really matter that much since I quickly went to unlock Soul Reaper)
If you use Axe maybe use Spite instead of Soul Reaping.
I use all 5 Summon Skills, I switch out Shadow Fiend for Flesh Wurm if I know I am not going to be moving for a while on boss fights or defense events.
Once I got Soul Reaper I started using Rise instead.
Javelin/Spear would be cool
I can see Torch being used
If Longbow/Shortbow is used I would want the Shroud form to look like Medusa with the lower body of a Snake, and the whole Snake Hair.
New Weapon idea, a Doll, I am thinking LuLu from Final Fantasy X I think used a Doll to attack.
Mainhand Mace.
Get Skin that looks like Hammer
Off Hand Focus, get a Skin that looks like a Stake or Nail

Kurizk Armor from GW1 and Gloom Shield.
For solo work, I would not worry about Banners, I think I would go:
Healing Signet (Some people like Blood Reckoning) – It does not give you that big nice Heal, but the constant healing you get I think is more in the long run?
Signet of Fury – Precision is Nice, and so is a full Adrenaline Bar when needed, usually if your Head Butt fails.
Endure Pain
Berserker Stance
Head Butt – Full Adrenal, Breaks Stuns, great Burst Action
Try that, that seems to be one of the more common Solo Skill loadouts.
I would only start adding Banners when you start to do Group Events.
I usually go with the following while doing HoT areas:
Defense: 222
Discipline: 233
Berserker: 113
For Defense if you are using either the Shield or Mace you can Shield Master and Sunder Mace for faster Skills Recharge.
Also for fights that need it you can use Last Stand for permanent, or close to it, Balanced Stance/Stability. eg. Golem Mk 2 World Boss.
And Defy Pain is another option as well.
In Discipline if you are using Standards you can switch Brawlers Recovery for Inspiring Battle Standard for some extra healing for you and the party.
Berserker I am not sure what is better Bloody Roar or Eternal Champion, so use what ever feels right.
And if you still need more Condition removal go with Savage Instinct
Normally go with GS, and Axe and Warhorn(Speed Boost, and Condition Clear)/Mace/Shield or Mace/Shield
Also carry a Rifle and Longbow for fights that need it.
As for Skills, I pretty much run all Signets, except for Head Butt, because I am mostly Lazy. Change some skills for fights that need it though.
For group play I go Phalanx Strength Warrior build.
@ Casino Dorsay
You know that you can equip 2 weaponsets right? If you run axe axe as primary weaponset, then what the hell is your secondary weaponset? Just wondering
Not saying it is ideal, but you can go Axe/- and -/Axe and then use a Sigil with the text “When Swapping to this Weapon: do..”
lets you stay in Axe/Axe but with able to Bleed, Poison, Might, Swiftness, Crit etc…
Runes of the Scholar is another option over Strength Runes
And for Sigils I would go with Force, and either Accuracy, Air, or Fire
hmm maybe I do the jump and move to, so maybe it was the moving that was canceling for me?
Jump works for me
The Build that I use currently for HoT is:
Defense – 211 (if using a Shield can switch to Shield Master, and if using a Mace can switch to Sundering Mace – 131)(If you need more Adrenaline or Condition Cleaning can use Cleansing Ire as well)
Discipline – 233
Berserker – 113
(If you don’t have Berserker I would probably go with Strength – 221 until you do)
Weapons: Greatsword, and Axe/Warhorn/Mace/Shield or Mace/Shield depending on Encounter. Warhorn is mostly used just for running around for the speed boost.
Also keep a Rifle and Longbow handy for when you need range.
And I usually go with:
Healing Signet – Constant Health Regen
Signet of Fury – Bonus to Precision and Max Adrenaline
Signet of Might – Bonus Power
Dolyak Signet (or Endure Pain) – Reduce incoming damage
Head Butt (or Signet of Rage if you do not have Berserker) – full Adrenaline bar, as well as good for Break Bars
Defense is taken mostly for the Adrenal Health, that combined with Healing Signet and Dolyak Signet are what keep you going in fights.
Discipline is used for the Fast Hands and Brawlers recovery mostly as another way to drop Conditions along with Versatile Power and Burst Mastery, can switch out to Heightened Focus if you like but I find in the short fights I don’t need it because they are over to quickly, and the longer fights I find Burst Mastery more useful.
Berserker is all about the Primal Bursts, and each one counts as using three Adrenaline bars for Adrenal Health. Smash Brawler combined with Signet of Fury and Head Butt, as well as weapon swapping you can squeeze 4~5 Primal Bursts into a single Berserk Mode. Again if you are having more trouble with Conditions you can also go with Savage Instincts too to help cleanse.
I find what kills me the most in HoT is the Condition damage from the mobs, and some of them just hit really hard. So this gives me the most survivability out of the previous build I used in the Old World. (Arms, Tactics, Strength, Berserker – combination of those four).
Break Bars – one thing you have to think about too is that some mobs are a real pain if you cannot bring down their Break Bars:
Head Butt
Tremor
Pommel Smash
Shield Bash
And I think applying Vulnerability helps with this as well – Crushing Blow.
As others have said you really dont need to level crafting at all, I mostly do it to about 400 just for the XP for the free levels sometimes.
But if you want Viper Gear you may need to level it as I never find it on the AH. Berserker though is quote common.
Greatsword is an awesome weapon on Guardian. GET OVER HERE! ALL OF YOU! INTO MY CIRCLE OF PAIN!
I then switch your weapon to Torch and set yourself on Fire.
Guardians are some bad mutha ……
For leveling I generally go with what ever gear has the highest Stats for DPS or Armor.
So if you are leveling with a Scepter that does 100 DPS/Sec but all of a sudden an Axe drops that does 150 DPS/sec I may switch weapons until a new Scepter drops for me.
As for Armor I normally Tank in games and that is why I go for highest ARM start most of the time, but if you have pets to take hits for you then go with what ever has a higher DPS Stat for you, Condi, Power, etc..
But really leveling, stay away from the Auction Hall and use whatever gear you get from Drops, Quests, or Crafting. You can level so quickly that that level 20 Dagger you just picked up will get replaced in a day by that level 22 Dagger that dropped.
The only time I really look at Gear Stats is at level 80 and then you pretty much want to go either all Berserker or Sinister/Viper (whatever you can get)
I did:
Dagger/Warhorn – Staff
Death – Minion buff, condition transfer, poison clouds, popcorn minions
Blood – Speed Boost, Life Steal, Bleeding Signet
Soul Reaping/Executioner
All the Summons you can get, plus Locust Signet for Speed Boost.
For Solo Play pre patch was playing the same build, but instead of Tactics I was using Arms 2,2,2 or 2,2,1
Post Patch I been running around with:
Discipline: 2,3,2 or 2,3,3 (Quickness or more Damage/Adrenalin)
Defense: 1,1,2 or 2,1,2 (Depending on if I am using a Shield or not)
I also do not using any Banners, but I either use all Signets (Heal, Sig of Fury, Sig of Might, Dolyak, and Sig of Rage), for easier areas and I do not want to think too much.
Or I may add in Endure Pain, Berserker Stance, and then Head Butt for the Elite.
I use mostly Great Sword and Axe/Warhorn (Warhorn for speed buff)
But I have tried all weapons and combinations and change it up as I either need or if I get bored. (Like using a Rifle or Long Bow, adding Maces, Shields, Hammers etc…)
This is another good build if you do not have your Special Traits unlocked: http://intothemists.com/guides/5899-solo_pve_warrior_build
So my Necro already has Berserker (Power) and Sinister (Condi) Gear, should I bother with getting Viper, or are our Condi Spec so bad now that I should just stick with Berserker?
Necromancer Locust Signet, move faster while holding a Dagger, and Speed Boost on your Warhorn.
i miss gw1 necro idle/casting/emote animations the most :P
The Thriller Dance moves, and my Fissure of Woe armor.
Arcane Echo Spiteful Spirit and my unlimited horde of minions before the MM “Nerf/Balance”
GW1 used MM in PvP. Just needed a teammate to sac out (kill themselves with Blood is Power or other skill) over and over while waiting for match to start.
I guess you never saw the iWay Groups with a Necro and Monk to provide Minions and Oder of Pain/Vampire and some AoE Heals for the Minions.
And the coup de grace was a Ranger with the Spirit Bomb. Good Times
I have been using mostly Dagger/Warhorn (Sometimes Scepter because it had more DPS, and Warhorn because of Swiftness) and Staff (AOE’s and Mark of Blood will heal your minions if needed).
Just to clarify about the DPS, my Scepter was about 10 levels higher than my Dagger at the time, but now that I have gotten a new drop I have gone back to Dagger/Warhorn.
Also the Scepter causing Bleeds I was using it with the Blood Specialization that caused Lesser Vampirism Signet as an experiment.
I have been using mostly Dagger/Warhorn (Sometimes Scepter because it had more DPS, and Warhorn because of Swiftness) and Staff (AOE’s and Mark of Blood will heal your minions if needed).
I put all my Points into Minion Utility Skills as well as the Healing and Locust Signet and Death Specialization up until Death Nova, I won’t bother with the last two until I am done leveling my other skills first.
Once I had my Flesh Golem and Death Nova as well Locust Signet, I then started putting points into Blood Specialization
For Healing Skill:
1. Blood Fiend – not bad, but will sometimes die leaving you with out a heal
2. Signet of Vampirism – when used will heal your Minions when they attack a target
Elite Skill:
1. Flesh Golem
Utility Skills:
1. Summon Bone Minions
2. Summon Bone Fiend
3. This one I swap around a bit:
- Signet of the Locust – mostly for the 25% run increase
or - Summon Shadow Fiend – if I dont need to run and I need more DPS
or - Summon Flesh Wurm – if I am fighting in an area for an extended period of time as it has more DPS than other minions.
Now I am not entirely sure which Minion is always best but that is what has been working for me at the moment.
For Specializations I have selected:
Death:
Flesh of the Master – Minions don’t die as fast, and increases your Toughness
Necromantic Corruption – more DPS, condition removal and transfer
Death Nova – poison clouds, as well as more Minions (Jagged Horror)
Blood:
Blood Bond – casts a Lesser Signet on Target which helps heal Minions
or
Quickening Thirst – move faster while holding a dagger
Vampiric Presence – you and your minions siphon health
Transfusion – not tried it too much, but I believe you can also heal your minions with this.
Last specialization I am not sure what I will go with, either Spite or Curses? But I will eventually go with Reaper so I can use Rise and two handed sword.
