Seems i wasn’t hacked then, everyone needs to calm down. A lot has changed in the 8 months since i was last here, my guild seems pretty dead though! Maybe i’ll see you all again in another 8 months.
Well I have a massive load of updates to do to see, how did they get my email add then? The password is totally unique to GW2 so they would not have got it from anywhere else.
I haven’t played in ages but I have apparently been hacked from some mails you sent me. I take it all my stuff I had is gone. Strange as the password for GW2 is only used for GW2 so I assume it was lost your end.
I still think this isn’t 100% true. I believe it makes botters work harder to avoid this. In doing so slowing down the average program from working at full potential. Yes there are programs/bots that probably are coded better to deal with it, but I’m sure not every baddie uses the same one. In the meantime they (Arenanet) find the botters while they can, ban them and those who may have dealt with them in an RMT way. Sooner or later they will find a fix for the teleporting and regular bots. But all in all how much RMt spam do you see in this game? Compared to Aion/WoW etc. So they are already ahead of the largest problem. Giving them more time to work on fixes for bots, which are really all thats left besides hacking. I think the B2P model really helped with this as well. Big losses to someone who gets caught, probably far more than they earned.
I would also say that legitimate farmers also know ways around DR and do not share them with bots. As the bots are actually hurting the economy by mass selling at low prices at times. Thus driving down our worth when we work hard for those drops. If it was simple enough to just ban all bots instantly every MMO would have figured it out already. I compare bots/rmt to viruses online. A company has a loophole and hackers find it and get in or send trojans. Company repairs the hole and now the hackers have to find something else to get in. DR is Arenanets step 1 to closing that gap. There is no doubt in my mind they are already working on step 2, 3, 4. Just as RMT/Botters are working on them. Hence the great need in the world for Information Security Specialists. And why they get paid so much :P
I have no doubt that Anet are looking at ways to tackle botters as they are in direct competition to their own selling of gold via gems, but DR is a blanket and untargeted approach to a specific problem. One that can only be solved by acting on the individuals perpetrating it. It does no good to lower my drop rate, or yours or any other legitimate players. But every player has the potential to suffer that punishment and likely has just to make the botters less efficient!
No, there is no ‘reset’, you are experiencing RNG (alimo)
maybe anet would be willing to remove any doubt by standing up and being transparent about their policies instead of being afraid of telling us what they are.The DR policy is, at least in part, there to thwart bots and gold sellers who farm. It prevents them from farming the same thing over and over.
If you become transparent, all you’re really doing it telling them how to design better bots.
If that’s the case it’s ridiculously lazy and heavy handed of them. Why implement a device that effects everyone but because of that is no deterrent to the bot? Bots were always going to exist, they always do so all that DR does is make the value of the items that the bots are farming higher.
Also why make the most desirable items, the legendaries, a massive farm fest if you have also implemented a system to deter farming? It would have been far better for ANet to be more creative in identifying the bots and removing them than a non-system like DR.
It affects regular players less, if at all. And is much less problematic than people think. I could give a hundred examples on how to avoid it but that would only help bots and RMT, so I refuse to do that. People who farm areas regularly simply know at some point they need to do something else to switch up. And this generally is what players do anyway “naturally”. There are many variables to how it works, but again, no point in helping people bot/rmt.
Your point may be true, but it does not address the reason for DR to exist. If its to stop botters then it doesn’t, the only time i have noticed a decrease in their numbers was after the last purge. I can think of three things will stop them, banning their accounts so fast the process of farming is impossible, removing all methods of gold transfer or removing the market for the gold. Having DR does nothing to remove the botters, it just necessitates a change in behavior on their part, at best its an inconvenience to them. Remember they have access to a great many likely hacked accounts, and have to put little or no effort into the actual farming.
Also Anet keep the mechanics of DR under their hats as they don’t want to give away anything to the botters, the only way to see it is in the effects on drops. Who do you think has best access reliable, repeatable and consistent farming results? Who has most to gain from understanding DR?
So we are in the ironic situation where DR is in place to deter botters, but they would likely have the best knowledge of anyone on when it kicks in and how to avoid it. It does not stop them, only direct action from Anet does that which also has nothing to do with DR.
So whats the point in DR as it only effects real players?

+1
This tread was started months ago when after a patch there was a fall in drop-rates, it has since improved though maybe not to the pre-patch level. The drop rate is very low for lobestones of all types.
Generally the only reason to level a craft up to 400 is for the leveling experience it gives you or for a Legendary as Lpfan said. You will not have any advantage over a character who has not leveled any craft.
You can make some copper from crafting but it is a lot of effort, the problem being that so many people use crafting to level they sell the items they made cheap as it is treated as a byproduct of the 10 character levels they gained.
If they changed it so that once you have clicked on them and ‘selected’ them they stay selected even if they disappear then you can report them in your own time.
There is a bug where the item you have selected on the left pane is not highlighted, this is particularly annoying if you are building a number of different parts in succession.
Your best bet Robet is to not grind for particular items but to grind gold and buy what you need from the TP.
What Irena said, your best bet is to not pre-buy all the mats for a particular guide but to have a good amount of the basics (unless gold is no object), then just sensibly level following the standard principle of refining everything you can until it turns white, then do a few insignias and use them to discover all combinations until the next level of insignia become available, same with them until you can refine again.
The only problem with this is that if you do run out of something before the next phase kicks in you have to run to the TP asap to pick up the remainder as your buff is on a timer, though I guess you would have a few TP express boxes handy as well.
You’ll get 10 character levels for leveling anything from 0-400. It does not matter what level you start at as it scales (so it will take you from 20 -30 or from 65-75 and so on). Cooking is the quickest and cheapest assuming you buy everything from the TP, Jewel crafting next I think. And you can do all the professions if you want, not just two though it will cost you to swap between them after the second one.
I think I’ll leave my keys in this thread

Use this one.
2. Having a back button on the trading post. It is a bit annoying when I am viewing my buy list and select and item to view, there should a way for me to go back to my buy list.
Just click on the item again to go back. The TP UI should be a lot more user friendly however.
The TP UI is in fact shocking. Considering how polished the rest of the game is its a wonder that its in the state it is.
they also stated that all exotics arent created equal. Lindsey said that I believe. I take that named exotics have a higher chance to produce an precursor than just normal exotics.
But that is just my take on what she said. I have 0 luck and dont play the toilet often cause it flushes my gold out to sea to fast and too often. The scav hunt will not be coming in the near future – Colin stated so so dont expect it within the next 5 months. Although they may attempt another way to increase the availability or drop rates but that is all unknown at this time.
Good luck – someone has to have it lol.
Edit- yes they must be level 75 min.
I think while she said that they were not all created equal she went on to say they were all sill exotic. The way I think it was meant was that named does not make any difference. It has not made any difference at least in my tries.
Dreamer should definitely cause little footprints that are little patches of love, making anyone who crosses them before they fade to have love hearts float about them and randomly shout lines of poetry and the owner.
I agree 100%, but think it should be ‘Bunkle’ after my pet rabbit.
Hey MossyStump,
If your thinking of going down the modeling road for a career a good idea is to help out on a Mod of a game. There are plenty of them about and tend to always be looking for people to chip in. This would be really good for you as it will help you learn about all the issues faced by game modelers like poly count, texturing and unwrapping, animating and so on in a pressure free and usually helpful environment. It may be not what your looking to do but games and films are using more and more 3D models, if you have something under your belt or a portfolio it will help a lot getting into Uni or a job.
It would be handy for reporting if once you selected someone they did not unselect when they disappear, you would not need cat-like reflexes then to report them
+1, defiantly would make some of the jumping puzzles easier
I’d have my mini on me if it had its own slot. At the moment it was equipped initially while i had a look at him then was consigned to my bank deposit.
I started listing things but to be honest the TP interface is a car-crash of design, and so at odds with the rest of the game which is so polished.
Apparently its basically a web interface thats used ingame so why they could not apply basic web usability to it is beyond me. Maybe its what happens when you have game developers create something a web developer should have?
Like Asumita said, I too have a Warrior and a Guardian at 80, my Warrior has way less survivability though he does hit harder, but I feel I get far more from my guardian. Maybe its because you have less fear form wading into a crowd of mobs as you’ll likely be the only one standing at the end.
Agreed, admin please move this thread to bugs
I did not see any mention of it being fixed on the fix notes, though I have not been in game to see if its sneakily made it in.
I think another fix could be that once selected they stay selected so you can report them at your leisure, even if they disappear. Maybe use shift tab to select the nearest friendly though tab’s success at selecting the nearest enemy may mean that wont work.
But as an idea, as you approach a node if someone teleports in shift-tab to select them then report them even if they have gone.
Another idea would be to fix the node locations for a while and write in code to monitor them for teleporters.
When you try buy a stack of an item, but only part of the order is bought there is a bug where you have no way of knowing how many it actually bought unless you go to the pickup tab, to then complete the order you have to return to the trading tab and research for the item again and try to buy the remainder.
I considered posting this as a suggestion but as this cannot be the intended as the ‘workflow’ for partial sales posted it here.
Can you please fix it so on the ‘partial order success’ note it says how many were bought so you don’t have to navigate away.
The burnanator!
It costs them too much money. Apparently they have to store the pets names on their servers. Taking up space that they don’t want to give.
Now you’re cynical – I think it’s just a bug
I think Fomby is right, though there is nothing to stop them having the names stored locally on our machines as far as I know.
There is no trick as far as we know, if there is then the people who know it are going to keep it close to their chest to keep the prices up.
Apparently the odds are when 4 rares of L80 are flushed:
20% return of an exotic
0.3% for a precursor
Named weapons makes no difference either, nor does type.
These odds will apply if its your 1st try or your 50979th so just because you have been on an unlucky streak does not mean your closer to getting it.
I like it, likely lead to a gatherer alt for everyone but I guess many people already have an alt that fits that role already.
nope i was banned for 3 days because i made a bunch of parody porn names … eta 40h
lol
Its never happened to me, must just be a bug. Maybe one of the swords has incorrect tags so the forge thinks its something else.
atm it costs about 1.30 silver per T5 mat and apparently the odds of a Precursor are 0.3% on 4 rares according to some other forums that consolidated a large sample.
So thats 25 odd silver per crafted rare, at four rares per flush with a 0.3% chance it works out at 333G average for getting a precursor by my calculations, assuming the 0.3 is accurate.
Factor in getting a rare back 80% of the time and an exotic 20% for a more accurate average, I can’t be bothered to do this though :-)
Pro tip, on malchor’s leap there is an area where risen chickens sometimes spawn in numbers, if you fail the destroy the coups event then eventually four vet chickens will spawn. DO NOT KILL THESE as they allow the chickens to constantly spawn.
Chickens are fast easy kills that hold great loot and respawn very quickly. You will very quickly fill your inventory and you always get a handful of T6’s from them.
I’ll check it out, thanks
Agreed 100%
I find that there is no continuity between the areas on it, so if I for example search for an item then go to another part, the gem store say or whatever then return to my search its reset.
It does not remember any previous searches, it would be handy if it gave auto completed dropdown results that included previously searched items at the top.
If you could search within search results.
It easily loses focus (sometimes my fault for clicking behind the window) so when you type something then look up (for those non-touch typers) you have a load of other hot-keyed windows open and your character is running at a wall while attacking thin air.
DR..Divinity’s Reach?
DR is diminishing returns, where drop-rate falls if you repeat an action too many times.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Diminishing_returns
Its claimed that its inclusion is ‘anti-farm code implemented to prevent bots and exploits’.
I think its universally hated, and its a ridiculously heavy handed approach to potentially punish everyone in the hope of stopping botters (which there is no evidence that it does)
Isn’t that basically what black lion salvage kits do. 50% chance of rare materials and 100% chance of recovering upgrades. U can buy em of the gem store if u don’t have any left.
Black Lion kits destroy the item, rewarding you with some of the parts. He wants to split the runes/sigils off without destroying the item.
I have a suggestion for armour and weapon buffs that use other armour/weapons to improve your equipped items for a time. The length and amount of improvement depends on the class of item you use to buff it with.
So for example you have an exotic berserker sword that you buff with a rare carrion sword, the rare sword is destroyed but you get +power, conditional damage and vitality for the next 500 attacks or something. The higher rarity of the buff sacrifice the better proportion of stats it adds.
If its only available in PvE then its not going to upset the PvP balance, it will add another gold-sink for the economy and will allow yet more customisation of your character.
Its a great idea but I think that it would remove another gold-sink so its unlikely.
They need gold-sinks like this for the economy, they mystic toilet being the most glorious example.
I love this game, think they have done a great job with it. My only gripes are DR and right click targeting. Its a shame that any DR related thread just gets deleted by the mods now but the right click targeting thing surely is a relatively quick fix? Every update i check the options to see if the magical toggle has been added but still no dice :-(
How about the chance for a precursor in Black Lion chests.
It would drive down the price on the TP, make the chest vaguely worthwhile and Anet would sell more Gems.
How is this an exploit? Its just abusing the kick feature, same as regular dungeons.
Clearly an exploit, and worse its not victim less like many exploits.
I saw this the other day, and again the person who needed reviving was not on level ground. We got the F prompt but it did not bite.
Also consider that Anet want you to be at ‘endgame’ for most of your gaming experience, you can get to 80 quickly, get a full set of exotics pretty quickly.
The only thing that takes a long time, and relative to the other parts its a ridiculously long time is to get a legendary and that requires grinding.
So why have they added DR to punish you from doing what they intended you to do at end game?
It makes no sense.
