Also it seems that if you can’t pick up the purple bauble because you don’t have a whip you can no longer pick it up ever again.

The “has spawned” status will remain.

Correction: if you go back on the original character that had the bauble spawn you can spawn it again, and if you have the whip you can collect it. It will then spawn for other characters as well.

First, off thanks for the replies. I should update this.

I did the first zone where it just wouldn’t work for me. However, I also tried it on the third zone and there I did get th achievement in infantile mode.

So clearly, I must have been missing a bauble in Zone 1. Just a bit odd that I did it in normal mode right after and I did it the exact same way and when in normal mode it worked for Zone 1 right away.

For the life of me I cannot fathom which bauble I forgot in infantile mode but didn’t forget in normal mode.

But yes, answer should be, it works in infantile mode.

Yet I just tried and while following her video closely, I just can’t get it to pop in Infantile Mode.

Go to gw2crafts.net, look at all the automatic guides, pick the one crafting profession that has the cheapest total investment calculated. Chef is usually one of the cheapest but it can also be tricky since the cheapest route involves getting karma items from renowned hearts vendors.

I said 1UP because of two things:

- I really like the content. I’m a sucker for old school games.
- I pitty that new players coming into the game will not experience it if it weren’t here to stay.

The last point is also my counter argument to those saying “you will grow bored of it”.
Point being it’s not always about oneself. With an MMO there’s always gonna be an influx of new players.

Yes there are worlds missing still, as well as weapon skins.
They will gauge the success of the box and then commit to building the rest.
They saw it as an experiment first so thats why they didn’t commit many team members to the thing. I believe it’s only a couple devs who were responsible for the whole thing.

I’m guessing an attacking mob gut stuck under or into some property including the ground. I have seen this happening in dungeons and other events causing them to become stuck.

Today i saw 4 bots farming in one tricky spawn location (they even teleport to mobs).
My first idea was report them, but then i remember that they are the ONLY mat offerers in ALL game because its hell more profit farm 5g/hour in cof P1 that farm mats, because its imposible to do that!

Yeah this is also striking me as odd. Best explanation I have is that some people hoarded ectos in case the new world boss chest situation made ectos harder to get.
Maybe a couple speculators saw this wasn’t the case and then proceeded to dump them while the price was still above 30 slightly and it went downhill from there with other speculators piling on.
I don’t think there is just one explanation for this phenomenon. Therefore I also agree with your assessment about massive exchange of gold for gems to get keys for a chance at the fused skins.

Also, I did find it odd that I placed a buy order of 35 ectos at 26s 75c while the top buy orders where around 27s 25c and it got filled instantly. In 1 or 2 seconds. There were hundreds of units ordered before my order. The turnaround time must be enormously quick right now.

Hm… I dunno if it can be trivialised to always say no this isn’t legally gambling just because the end result isn’t real cash. Also because the game is avalable in more than one country and the very nature of the questions raised are very murky and often without precedents.

I tried googling terms like “rng gambling mmo laws” w/e but it’s quite hard to find definite texts on the subject. I did find this article from 2011 however, which I found interesting. It doesn’t say much about the laws involved but it does indicate that it may not be so easy to always say without a doubt this doesn’t go against anti-gambing laws. At least in South Korea.

In the Netherlands we have strict laws forbidding (online) gambling. Outcomes that are purely determined by chance (and not by skill) are considered gambling. For example, online poker counts as gambling, but also promotion campaigns such as an online quiz. Generally, you’ll need a permit to organize such activities in the Netherlands.

I have also wondered how these BLTC sales relate to these laws. It definitely seems gambling, but there are some legal conditions that seem to apply:

First, one should determine whether gambling can be considered the core business of the company. In this case one could argue otherwise, although the gem store is quite a central part of the games revenues.

Second, the prizes arguable are too small to matter. By Dutch law the maximum is 2300 euro for an online quiz. Although it’s hard to put a price tag on these skins, I doubt anyone would be willing to pay that amount. So it may be perfectly fine to have this sort of gambling in game.

In any case, it is an interesting question and I think ANet is in a moral gray area here. Especially given that minors (12 and up) can play this game, it’s not a pretty system. I too hope that they move away from it in the future; it also doesn’t seem generate a lot of goodwill among there players to be hones.

P.S. I’m absolutely no lawyer and my legal knowledge is limited; I only recapped what I could find online on the issue. I bet ANet’s lawyers have sorted this out way more thoroughly. Furthermore, I didn’t buy any keys and thus have no personal stake in this matter at all

Yes, I too wonder how this relates to law. I agree it would be very hard to actually quantify damages done or to even prove this to violate anti-gambling laws. Although, the core mechanics are definately there.

I think economically there’s a certain point to be made that Anet have to generate revenue somehow. However, the thing with the fused skins feels over the top.
Looking at their jobs page (if that’s any indicator) they seem to be expanding rapidly, thus they seem to be doing just fine financially.

Very good point about minors playing. Guild Wars 2 isn’t marketed as a mature audience only MMO. And for minors it is very easy to loose themselves into gambling that violates the “don’t gamble money you can’t afford to lose” rule.

If this fused weapon skins concept absolutely has to make its return for the next round of super special shinies, please, please, try to strike a better balance in entry costs vs. chance of success. Bring the costs of BL keys down slightly, and slightly up the chances for getting the shinies. Also, please make the super special shiny tradeable on the TP.

I personally have no stake in this. I have no desire for the skins and I won’t try to get them. But I do feel that ArenaNet are losing face over this concept if it continues…

I just got an exotic with the superior sigil in it so I think I’ll put that on my GS and keep the major sigil on my sword and see if it makes any sort of difference in practical terms.

Whenever I read a gold/hr thread, I just assume that we are talking about theoretical max here. Because in all the threads I have seen (except for maybe one, the orr farming thread) noone actually takes the time to test it out fully.

They take a small time slice and etrxapolate. The actual rate in practical terms will be much lower. (it’s just inevitable…)

Question: If you have a single key for dodging, how do you pick which way you’re going to dodge? I like being able to quickly go left, right, or back as I choose with a quick doubletap of my thumb (I seldom dodge forward unless I’m running through aggro with the intent of escaping). Given that I move with my mouse and have my left, right, and back movement handy to my thumb on my HEX, wouldn’t it be -more- work and slower to have to hold down the button with my right hand and tap a keyboard key with my left?

Can’t you just pull the mouse in the direction you want to dodge prior to hitting the dodge key?

I am not in game atm and it has become so much second nature to me that I can’t actually remember how I do it, lol…

I think they could very well be testing how well it is recieved to get unique skins that way. If it works out and it becomes popular, this could be one step in the alternative way to get precursors in the future.

I agree, though, that it will probably be hard as nails to get the skins from this box.

Be very sure you are actually doing events that have the upgraded big chest introduced last major patch. If you are sure the event should have an upgraded chest and you didn’t get a rare, then yes this would actually be a bug (which I have never seen personally or heard about in my large guild).

I was wondering if there is a difference in damage between the Superior Sigil of Fire’s flameblast and the Major Sigil of Fire’s verison of the same effect. Or is it just a difference in the chance of the flameblast happening as indicated by the tool tip?

Also, does the flameblast damage scale with power or with condition damage? My own tests indicated that it scaled with power since I changed my traits to Domination giving me an extra 300 power and this seemed to have an effect on the flameblast damage.
Shouldn’t it scale with condition damage instead since it is a burning effect?

I had a freeze yesterday for the first time. Also at Tequatl. I never ever had freezes before. The game’s music and sounds would change into a feedback tone (like you hear on TS when someone has their speaker’s volume too loud) and then the crash dialog came.

However, I was able to log back in quickly, and even though it was prime time I avoided overflow and did get a chest in the end.

Would love a reply as well since I plan on doing this eventually on my next char.

Well, first I understood it more like this:

There’s two types of boss chests (in programming terms: 2 classes of chests). One type had its rare and better chances buffed with a guaranteed rare. This type we forum goers call “upgraded chests”.
The other type is the same large chest type we still encounter in dungeons and boss encounters that weren’t upgraded.

So then, the boss chest that any dragon event spawns will get degraded to an old, not-upgraded chest (which only nets you blues and greens) and the upgraded chest loot will now spawn from a daily chest like interface and will only be triggered once per day per account.

Right now though, I am not so sure anymore because that way they would be introducing more chances for loot, effectively doubling loot chances if you only play on one main character.

Barring that I don’t really understand the changes yet, my own stance on the issue is that it doesn’t really affect me too much since I only have one main char anyway. What does affect me in that case still, is the rising price of ectos. I felt that 25-ish silver per ecto was a really good price considering how many you need and that you need them for pretty much any endgame content.

Oh, I got to find the Asura Gate Engineer and assistant now from what I read.

When I made my first Asura I stumbled upon a quest line where you had to investigate if Skritt actually just fake their mental state by playing dumb. The answers you could pick to their responses where all hilarious. My forum sig line is from that quest.

Sorrow’s Embrace has some pretty funny lines, like the infamous “No, No, No we should go to the armory instead”. And the 3 little kids playing as Logan, Caithe etc.

Those are my favorites so far.

Ouch, I really feel for you guys. While I agree that it could be certainly made more clear ingame in the upgrades tab what order is required exactly, on-the-spot I am not really sure if I agree that they should be seperate.

If they were seperate wouldn’t it mean you could unlock more at roughly the same time if you had the funds to do so (depending on how many upgrades you could build at the same time).

If you decide to gample, please try to set aside a set amount of money and stop once you reach the end of it. Never ever gamble away all of it. Obviously it is much easier to recover from your loss with the bulk of your wealth intact.

Add to the fact that since they patched champion mobs to always include blue or better rewards I pretty much only get blue stuff from champions and by extension from veterans – if the veteran drops anything at all. Most of the time they don’t

A kind soul ingame showed me how to do it. So it is the obvious way, near the vista, but you have to do one slightly awkard, yet very specific jump onto a ledge with an invisible extension. I tried this before but gave up to soon as it seems.

Been running around for about 2 hours now.

As is usual for Anet, there is a, what seems to be obvious, way up alongside the vista but it ends in an invisible wall that can’t be climbed, indicating you need to go all the way to the other side of the cliffs but there is no obvious connection near it and the cliffs are far to steep to be climbed from the other side.

I’d be grateful for any advice.

Just wanted to say, that Riverside (DE) [EU] doesn’t have the event chain bugged since we claimed Dwayna’s temple last night at 3 a.m. (no idea if it is uncontested right now!)

It appears Riverside does Dwayna fairly regularily. (for some reason that sounds wrong ^^)

Playing since mid january… have 1 lvl 80 main, 450 hrs played last time I checked.
I do all big chest events daily (give or take a day in between) and I always hop on dungeon runs our large guild does. I also do fractals.

So far I have gotten 3 exotics. 1 was a lvl 78 account bound ceremonial focus from a large fractal chest on personal reward lvel 5, 1 a lvl 78 shield from Jormag’s chest and – best luck so far – Final Rest from Shadow Behemoth a couple days ago.

So that would be roughly one exotic every 2 and a half weeks.

(unless we are also counting superior sigils/runes… I have gotten 4 I think all from explorable mode dungeons)

This happened to my group yesterday evening around 20:00-21:00 GMT time.

Same on all three points.

We had two freshmen with us and while explaining one of the group members died carrying the last bomb back. The event failed and we started over.

Then before starting the second try, on the minimap we see the gear icons indicating the bombs to be picked up bunched up right next to Magg at his bomb drop-off waypoint!
We start the event, collect the bombs – which we can even though they aren’t really marked with the gear icons spread out as they should be – but then we find we can’t deliver the bombs to be defused. We fail the event again and start over.

This time we can’t even talk to Magg. Only things he says is the standard reportoire of “Excelsior” etc. replies any Asura can give.

Some operating systems have a low level mechanism for transforming key code inputs into different character codes. Mac OS X for example calls this an “input method editor”.

By utilizing some transformation scheme it will allow you to type in different languages without having a keyboard that outputs the proper target language key codes. (one example on Windows are the so-called alt key codes).

However that’s just there as a crutch if you won’t be using a Chinese, Kanji etc. keyboard to begin with.

I wouldn’t be surprised if there will eventually be something like the exotic trinkets that can be forged by burning dungeon tokens just with ascended items and fractal relics.

That’s why Mesmer’s are really good at solo-ing stuff… as long as I can keep pumping out clones (with the occasional threat drop) I can pretty much do anything.

(anything that doesn’t stun, shadow step, 1-hits 3 clones at once and must be fought in confined spaces – looking at you Champion Risen Worshipper -.-)

Having the Arah gates closed is rumored to have the effect on pen/shelt events happening more often… just sayin’.

The fee is actually split. I believe it is 5% for listing. Theoretically if this were a real market you could say the 5% is for using the infrastructure of the exchange to reach potential buyers.

Then when you do sell an item, you get charged an additional 10% commission fee.
