This is all just speculation considering he’s using pistol. And a phantasm build even with pistol does not burst down near quick enough like you describe. It has to be a shatter of some sort.

You’d be surprised how fast you can 100-0 someone.
I’ve done so many times with gs/s-p. Obviously certain builds/skill levels have the tools to avoid the 100-0, but it does plenty damage. People really don’t see it coming.

It’s not just the guardian. For dungeons, this game is all dps.
(Disclaimer: I play mostly WvW and have never stepped into a dungeon in this game.)

Run whatever combo of soldier’s/zerk you’re most comfortable with.
If you want to be more support oriented, you wanna run shouts (probly only 2 + 1 consecration)instead of meds and should have at least one point in your virtues line for those boons, too.

0/0/6/6/4, 0/0/6/4/4 are popular setups.

I have only been back about a week but is this something you only start seeing in ranked? I have been running 2/4/3/5/0 Sword/pistol and Staff and I haven’t seen issues with not being able to burst hard enough. maybe it is that I don’t face many real bunkers or what? I can’t 100-0 in seconds but I feel quite safe running zerker amulet and by the time I swap back to sword/pistol to send out a second duelist the enemy has either given up the point or is going to get stompe.
Again I can’t say I am current at all I am just shocked at the claims of not enough burst what is the definition looking into more competitive play?

I think they mean not enough burst when combined with PU, since you lose out on the other 15% damage increase.

Just play your game and don’t worry so much about what others are doing.

How invested in the event are you if you’re spending the whole time watching those who are afk?

EotM’s intended purpose was an overflow for WvW to give people in queue for WvW something like WvW to do which did not affect the outcome of the weekly match. If your server does not have a queue on all four maps then get in WvW and help them out. If enough people on your server did this maybe you too could join the ranks of OG in EotM—if you still care about EotM by then.

This message should be displayed to anyone whenever entering eotm.

Guardian is a solid choice for learning the game.

Elementalist, engineer, and mesmer have the steepest learning curve IMO.

For maximum survivability, I’d stick to the small group roaming. Eles pair nicely with their aoe damage/heals/boons/condi removal. Guards too.
Solo roaming as full zerk shatter can be more frustrating than fun most of the time, imo.

Idk. With all the evades, shadowsteps, shadow returns, dodges, and stealth available to thieves, I think the last thing they need is access to a block.

For team play, ditch the meditations and zerker gear. Grab soldiers/knights gear and run a 0/0/6/6/2 type build. Run hold the line and stand your ground shouts, probably a consecration too. Pure of voice trait + trooper runes for extra condi removal.
Run staff/gs or staff/hammer.

Warrior? When you’re low on health just run away.

My guardian has been bugging me for an elite spirit weapon skill since i started playing him.

Leave it out of wvw. Would too greatly benefit those builds that can disengage and reset.

It’s still condi, but has the EG for the heal, stun break, and poison. I dumped flamethrower (which I swapped around anyway) for the Tool Kit.

After loading up my traits like Vee Wee posted and playing with the bombs, there was a noticeable improvement in their viability for me.

Thoughts?

Couple changes you could consider.
You could Swap bomb recharge with accelerant packed turrets since you’re using the turret heal. Besides the damage, it gives you access to another interrupt (for your runes), and provides a lil extra cc.
You could also swap pistol recharge for pistol range. Helps vs. the kiters/runners.

Engi isnt my most proficient class, but I’ll point out what i can.
If using bomb kit, trait for larger explosions.
If using elixirs and traiting 30 pts in that line, take hgh. With your sigils, you’ll have gobs of might stacks.
Imo, the EG and tool kit are better choices than FT (at least for now).
I’d also consider dropping your knights/zerker pieces for rabid, as condis are strong in 1v1. (And pistol/shield is condi focused).
I’d go different runes, too. There are plenty of speed-boosting options available to engis, no need for speed runes.

Nobody here claims you are an exploiter, or is upset at having their exploit patched. Me thinks you are confused.

Although the first word in the original post was “seriously” I still took this as more of a joke, but if some of you really need to make sense of it, then here – it is called “burning” damage, not “on-fire” damage.
Let’s try (not really) an experiment. Go to your kitchen. Turn on your range to “high” until it starts glowing red. Now, firmly apply your hand to said range. Was your hand ever on fire? Is it still “burning” and taking “burning damage”?
Now stick your hand in a glass of water. Is it still taking damage from having been burned?
I can’t believe I actually just explained that.
