OP, you have a point. So many people complaining. I’m complaining now, that people are complaining that you’re complaining on people complaining. No, no inception joke here.

People have right to complain. You can’t satisfy everyone. But at the same time, I think most of such topics are pointless and stupid. People are complaing and demanding something impossible, like to change whole classes or huge parts of content. If you don’t like it that much, it means the game is not for you, cause it does not satisfy you for some reason.

PvE Revenant question

Hello! This is the build I’m running right now – http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vlUQNAseinXN2gSqJvQR/kbosgyPU4Q5IKYr8ElFNFyegJshsj5MxpdABoBA-TBCBQBCU9HKoEMcm/Wy+DbzpEIP9FSU5HAeSAAA-e

My problem is… I do not switch from Herald. Like ever. Can you give some advice, maybe I should change the 2nd legend? Or, do I need hammer for ranged? It’s just there, in it’s slot, not being used. I liked Rev during beta, then not, now I’m kinda enjoying it… but I feel like I’m not playing it properly. I wish to learn, I wish to understand. Teach me, senpai.

Rev is worst class in the game

Cecylio.1286

which class isn’t forced to elite spec

Ranger
Warrior
Ele
Mesmer

This! Yes! I agree, yet I’ll do Chronomancer, cause it seems fun. Druid, Berserker and Tempest are completely optional for me. Herald, Reaper, Daredevil, Dragon Hunter and Scrapper are imo must have. These specs really add up to the basic classes. Nice melee weapon for Engineer and Necromancer, good ranged for Guardian, Herald is unfortunately the best legend and third endurance bar for Thief is must have.

Back to the topic. Revenant is not the worst, but it lack diversity. I see no point in switching from Herald to anything, but at the same time, Herald lacks condition removal and break stun skills. But other legends are not much better. Dwarf has the best healing skill, but pretty much useless utilities. Shiro is not for me, but has break stun. Mallyx is second after Herald, but I don’t want condi build. Ventari, pff, please. Why can’t we pick our favourite utilities/healing/elite and create our own skill bar? Like on the other classes. Revenant is imo not the best idea, Anet. Sorry, it’s just not.

Personally finding Revanent Lackluster..

Cecylio.1286

Yeah, same here. Revenant is kinda squishy before 80. I’m now on level 80 and I still find Rev to be lacking something. I’m using sword & shield / hammer for ranged, Glint/Jallis. Aaaaaaaand, it’s ok-ish? I guess?

I see nothing awesome in Revenant. I’ve no problem to survive in PVE (full marauder set and weapons) and I don’t lack power, but I’m not 100% sure that my build is good. At all. Revenant is just not my style. It hurts that you can’t switch skills and have f.e. two skills from Herald and two from Jallis. Ok to play, but far from my favourite.

EDIT: I can’t remember, but I think I went up to 80 with Demon Stance and Mace/Axe. Condi is fine for leveling, imo. And it’s a lot of AoE.

That’s why I stopped representing my guild – they demanded more, and more gold. I get it, they want to finish guild hall, but I can’t afford it. I only send them crafting material, when needed. That’s my part, otherwise it would be rude to represent again after it’s finished.

I think it’s my favourite class to play (but not favoured, if you know what I mean). I came up with really well done build and with high toughness, some vitality and even crits in hand, I do enjoy playing him. It’s really reliable class. I choose him for toughest jobs :P

I, on the other side, still dislike Revenant. I’m so used to using five different utility skills, because usually not every skills in set, f.e. Guardian’s Meditations, are good, so you switch them with others and have like 3 meds and 2 from other set. And here? So what if I have 10 utility skills, if they suck combined together (and on 10 sec cooldown)? I would like Dwarf healing, cause it’s the best healing for me, but other than stability one, Jallys skills set sucks. Herald is BORING af. Shiro is not good enough, so I have to keep switching him. Only Mallyx shines a bit, but not all of his utilities are useful and I can’t possibly combine him with other Legend. Ventari? What is Ventari?

I think I’m going to strip naked my Rev and get part of my money back from him. So much wasted gold, it’s unbelivable (I tried two different eq sets, Rev still sucked).

No, pardon me, Rev do not sucks, I just don’t get and dislike that particular playstyle.

Honestly? I’m happy with changes, especially Warrior and dual axe damage increase! In general it’s really well done balance patch. It doesn’t change anything drastically, at least not for me. My builds are basically untouched. Does this mean I’m in meta? :o

Good job!

Maybe add some damage and knockback. Heal yourself, remove two conditions, damage foes around you and knockback them (not in that order). Not some huge damage, it’s a healing skill, but still. Especially knockback would be helpful.

I’m using this build right now, and it’s okay, but still nowhere near perfection. Jalis has really useful skills and I need Hammer as a ranged option, but overall Dwarf stance is kinda weak. And it works better with Sword/Shield than Hammer, lol.

About Shiro. I just don’t like it, not my style. It’s hard enough for me to play as Thief/Daredevil (great mobility, yes, but my fingers are too slow).

Here I am again, still confused about Revenant. I think I don’t like Rev, cause I don’t understand it. Legend swap feels like I’m changing a class, not just skill bar.

F.e. Mallyx’s weapons are obviously Mace/Axe, but there are no alternative condition damaging weapons. It feels like every Legend requires specific weapon. Why would you use Mace/Axe while on Shiro/Jalis? Shiro – Sword/Sword, but not other weapon, Jalis – Hammer is perfect match.

It’s hard for me to combine dps Shiro with healer Ventari, or condi Mallyx with boon/support Glint. I just don’t see connection. What stats to use? Which traits?

Cecylio.1286

Hello! I didn’t notice it before, never in Guild Wars 2, but nowadays I started to notice strange characters. One time it was Charr, then two Humans at once. Anyway, character is always a thief with dual pistols, using 3d skill “Unload”. They wear the same armor, have normal-ish names (only one was like “rsdgsgjsdkgtjsg”). They’re very smart – they activate hero points, participate in events, just explore the map like normal players would. One even was in guild! And obviously, what got my attention was their walking. They usually stuck at walls, but not for long, they move forward and then turn when blocked.

I don’t know. They’re strange and suspicious, but I wonder if I should report them? How to prove that it is a bot? Screenshot does not show much.

Ruka is voiced by Steve Blum and I know that because Ruka’s voice sounds exactly like Ensign Wilton (spelling?), one of the NPCs you have to speak to just before you start the third story mission. Also, once you’ve heard Steve Blum’s voice, it’s hard to “unhear” it—at least for me.

Steve Blum is the voice or Rytlock Brimstone, don’t know about the others you mentioned.

Thanks for answers. I think I’ll stick to Shiro/Mallyx then. Mallyx is pretty mobile too and has great aoe. I can always torment enemies and make them run (double the damage >:-) after me in Assassin Stance. I don’t have to worry about all that, cause they’ll be long gone.

I don’t know how bad is my english, but… about 2nd part of OP… I wanted to ask, why is the skill not working sometimes – not working, like, I click it and nothing’s happening. Awkward :o

P.S. Maybe someone will read it before balance patch – 2nd skill on Mace (Revenant’s) does not seems to work while the terrain goes up (like stairs or just some hill). I hope it’s understandable, again sorry for bad english :P

Some questions, some rants

in Revenant

Posted by: Cecylio.1286

Cecylio.1286

Hello! I’m really enjoying Revenant and Mallyx stance, but overall Rev has few flaws.

1. Empowering Misery. It’s nice healing skill, but it could be better. It heals more for each condition on me, but does not heal conditions. It’s not enough for 30 seconds cooldown. Compare that to Necromancer’s “Consume Conditions”. Same cooldown, no conditions after. Resistance is not enough, it doesn’t help if you have 30 seconds of bleeding or poison.

2. Embrace the Darkness. Are there any special conditions for it to launch? I’m asking, cause sometimes it’s just not working. Even when I have 100% bar.

3. Mallyx desperately needs break stun! Shiro on the other hand, can’t heal conditions (he can, but only not damaging ones). Dwarf stance is perfect for that, but I don’t plan to use it on my build. And here comes:

4. Am I wrong? What is best combo with Demon stance? I only came up with Shiro/Mallyx build, but maybe Dwarf stance can fit here? I’ll use Mallyx for sure, that’s my main Legend. Or maybe should I focus on only one Legend? They’re all so very different, hard to combine.

P.S. Link for that build I mentioned – http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?vlAQRApX8snvNeNS6JvJRVlHlsrykSYW5SJYssrkFNFJdznTtLC0gd862A-ThDBABP/gAkQJIAHBgU0M0sJm/3fIBzTF4EAwRtCjUeIgDKwZ9EUrETaVVAA-e

Charr warrior, Norn guardian, Human revenant

This is what I thought to do.

Still confused. Norn looks great with gs and lb, and Human too, but Charr doesn’t fit for me as archer. Revenant seems more agile, so Human fits perfectly. And Charr warrior, dual axe, pure awesome.

Yeah, I think I’ll do that. Thanks for answers!

Thanks for all the answers. Yeah, now I see that masteries progress if fine as it is.

I didn’t speak about other specs, cause they’re fine, but I’m not interested for now. I focused on Revenant and my favourited classes (Necro, Guard, Thief).

However I must say that:

Temepest is just not for me. I’ve my own, perfected build and I’m just not interested in either Warhorn or Shouts. But I see why others might find them useful

Chronomancer is similar, but I would consider using Wells. Especially gravity one, really great idea, Anet!

Berserker is fine, but doesn’t seems my playstyle. Perfected build here too, but I might consider Rage skills, who knows. Head Butt is great!

Keep up the good work. I’m looking forward to Druid and Hammer-Engineer!

Specializations

Specializations are really, really well done. I enjoyed mostly Dragon Hunter, Reaper and Daredevil, but the others are also fun to play.

Dragon Hunter is fantastic after few changes. Longbow/traps combined with my previous build – greatsword/meditations – works wonders! I can’t wait till day one!

Reaper now feels smoother and faster. Greatsword is now much, much better weapon, before it felt clunky and slow. Reaper Shroud got better for sure, especially whirlwind attack not going through enemies.

Daredevil’s physical skills are… fun, but… I love third endurance bar, love new dodges, but quarterstaff and physical were little confusing. Sorry, but I don’t know how to explain it better. It was probably just first impression, but in general I enjoyed this new specialization.

Legendary Dragon Stance is quite fun, but I also noticed something. I went on fractal and I was using Legendary Dwarf Stance, but I was ASKED to use Glint. I did and I notice how easy it is to get 25 stacks of might. We were literally wrecking enemies. It’s not forbidden to stack 25 might, but it felt way to easy with help of Glint stance skills. Anyway, Glint or not, they’ll always find ways to stack the might, I guess.

I really enjoy Revenant in general. I’m in love with Hammer and Legendary Dwarf Stance. I’m also using Legendary Assassin Stance (dual swords) and it works great together. If I need to be more defensive I use Dwarf, if more offensive I use Assassin. I was bit confused, but then I created satisfying build. I really like the fact, that legends cover every aspect of the game.

Creatures and Events

I really enjoyed new content. Creatures were fun, especially beetle (I think?) that can only be damaged in front. I could handle myself, but enemies in general were in groups, so it’s natural that it’s easier to pick up a few friends and explore the jungle.

Events were as usual, but that’s not a bad thing, cause I enjoye events in general. I know it’s hard to create new kind of events, but here’s idea – maybe events that are based on gliders? Like a race or something. Hmm, that would better match guild missions.

Mastery System

I don’t have much to say about Mastery System. Progression seems slow, it’s good that we got glider for free at start. It’s not a big problem, but it may be for players that do not play 24/7.

Gliding is really fun. It helps to explore and improves movement. I really enjoyed discovering new places of power. It feels like I earned those Masteries.

This new system has future and I’m waiting for more.

P.S. mumbling as I said. Hope it was helpful in any way

Some griping about support guardian

in Guardian

Posted by: Cecylio.1286

Cecylio.1286

I had support Guardian. I was using Staff, i had nice healing power, my build was built around Virtues (30 points in last trait bar), i was giving 150 toughness to allies (trait), my passive regeneration from Virtue was given to allies and was powered up (both traits), hell i even healed 3 conditions when i was activating it. I used Stand Your Ground for stability and retaliation (had longer retaliation +25%), Save Yourself (boons for me, cleaning conditions on allies), Purging Flames (another condition cleaning), Renewed Focus (when used all the Virtues). I healed with Healing Breeze.

And what? Either I’m noob or good supporting in GW2 is impossible. I couldn’t heal allies enough, boons are basically useless, my toughness and vitality was too low. I just stood a little longer than zerker-players. Not to mention really low DPS. I’m frustrated by this, honestly Holy Trinity isn’t that bad idea at all. My wishes to be a Cleric of some kind, was destroyed. Bleh.

Thank you all for builds, but i made my own, i hope it’s good. Meditating Guardian lol. Guardian’s elite skills, no idea which to choose. Any race propositions for racial skills?

So basically, it’s copy of my Warrior build. Great damage, nice defense, but no vitality at all. It works better for Warrior, of course, but it’s nice here too. Meditation utilities supported with traits. New healing skill, kinda weak, but i think it’s got potential.

Here’s my build. It felt nice at the beginning, i wanted to be support – healing/boons – but more further in the fractals and i feel weak. I have no good power, not enough toughness/vitality, boons are not effective at all, i realize i can’t be healer in GW2, so it’s only huge build-mistake.

I tried to change it, but I’m out of ideas. Any help? Also notice I’m kinda stuck with Soldier’s ascended stuff, cause i don’t have enough laurels anymore.
