It’s doable but not comfortable, eh (completely subjective!). I switched to valkyrie armor + zerk trinkets for the jungle. So much more funner, you can pay less attention. lol.

And how paying less attention ís more fun?

Berserker is more than tanky, actuañly, i am now seeking the enemies to kick their kitten , as opposed to vanilla gw2 where fighting the mobs was boring and mindnumbing.

Well, requiring most of my attention at all times in a game is less than ideal for my lifestyle. I’m sorry if I do not fit your definition of fun; I usually have people around the house when I play, and I interact often. looking away for a sec and coming back with a downed toon is not fun for me. I’m really sorry. I’ll start switching my gear to berserker right away.

do what you want, but for me, a game that doesn’t require my attention is a game that doesn’t catch my attention.

Hey look, I switched to berserker gear already :P. I didn’t know promoting non-berserker builds still causes all this fuss. I did say that it was completely subjective, it should be noted the “fun” is obviously subjective. No need to attack other people’s ideals, geez.

Hey OP, I tried a sinister build in the jungle today. Completely fine for me now, except when I run out of dodges against pesky mushrooms! Definitely have to watch my routes!

Could really use some assistance downloading this?

Would it be possible to request an “all files” download, instead of just the 64x launcher? :\ I can’t seem to get it to patch.

I can’t seem to finish 64x initial launcher patch.
-assetsrv 194.25.94.170:80 doesn’t seem to work with the 64bit client, so I’m out of luck on trying to use this.

Confirmed, normal 86x client is patching, also confirmed my internet is completely fine.

Been running BB on a power reaper for around a week now in the jungle.

Best used with buff shouts and elite shout, you will never run out of Life Force. Healing in shroud is almost negligible though. Still unsure if the life for regen is worth than loss in 15% attack speed and extra cooldowns for shroud.

It’s o-kay. That’s about I could say about it.

Clairenix, i don’t mean to pick on you i just wanted to point out the biggest issue with necros right now and your post illustrates it perfectly.

The problem with necros, IS NOT with necros.

It is with the culture of misinformation, that is aggressively spread by a very vocal and very ignorant minority in this game.
It all revolves around this so called “Zerk Meta”.

I wont go into too many details here because its a dead horse that i just don’t have the energy to beat on right now.
But basically, the whole idea is that there is this small contingent of players who are VERY BAD at the game and have no idea how it actually works.
These players have essentially been spreading poor, misguided and ignorant “information” for the past 3 years regarding the necro and other classes in the game.
They say things like, “necro has no party support” “bear bow rangers pew pew” “X class has the best DPS” etc etc.
These players, by and large, have no idea how the classes actually work and more importantly they make claims which have no factual proof or evidence behind them.
Case in point, ANY person who tries to tell you about DPS numbers is flat out full of crap.
We have NO DPS tools in this game, disregard this propaganda.
These players run whichever classes/builds have been handed down by other ignorant players and the whole situation just perpetuates itself.

Unfortunately this particular contingent is very loud, and volume is how ignorance often tends to spread itself…

But the greatest tragedy comes when other players simply take these statements for granted and repeat them on forums like we are seeing here…
People literally repeating things they have heard with absolutely no understanding whatsoever…
This, is just plain lazy…

PLEASE, do NOT help to spread this propaganda.
Be aware of the fact that when you repeat these things, you are promoting a culture of ignorance, laziness, exclusivity, elitism and poor performance.
DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH,
KNOW YOUR CLASS,
MAKE YOUR OWN DECISIONS,
FORM YOUR OWN OPINIONS.

A couple of those ‘bad’ players are here, you may want to speak with them.

I stand firm with my post as this was my experience, I do not acknowledge yours however for pretty much just raging and thinking that I did not do my own work, and that I only read a couple of posts and have already formed my opinion based on that. That’s just condescending viewpoint on other people. You also called me ignorant in a huge paragraph form. Also, you just outright invalued ALL OTHER PLAYER’S research (unless they agree with your opinion). These things don’t just happen because of a ‘bandwagon effect’ but I can’t dismiss the fact that it has contributed in it but it has definitely rooted to players experiencing this.

Why does everyone think necros are bad?

in Necromancer

Clairenix.2780

Because they offer nearly no team play compared to other classes. Has average DPS despite being a selfish class.

It’s not that they suck, it’s just that; they’re bad with other people. Which is counterproductive in this game and actually results in a less than average overall efficiency in groups.

Please explain this better. Cause what you are saying here doesn’t match what I am experiencing in the game. How exactly is my necro a selfish class and not good with other people?

Let me rephrase that, it’s not that they’re bad. Other classes are just better at them. (it doesn’t really make them bad, and could still feel overall a good class.)

For general buffing/tanking/DPS/healing/Etc..roles, other classes apparently are better at them than the Necro.

I would love to expound and give you a paragraph of sorts but.. that’s not my thing, This has been discussed over and over and to be frank, I’ve just embraced it.

The reaper does give new possibilities though; need some time before we can actually tell what its status is right now.

Full Valkyrie Reaper?

Clairenix.2780

I was going to run valk but decided on zerker anyway. The problem with valk is you are stuck with death perception and decimate defenses. If you don’t go the valk route you can take dhuumfire which ends up being like a 2.3k burn tick on top of your other power damage. It’s pretty insane.

I mixed them up and still get solid 90% crit, which still allows me to get dhummfire.. The 10% almost never happens anyway.

But for general purposed where I am alone, I take the stability shroud trait anyway, since it’s a stunbreak.

True you get stuck with those traits but in return you get to free up a ton of stats for something other than precision. I don’t know how much precision it takes to get 50% crit but its a lot. With zerk trinkets and valk armor + weapons I have almost 30% cirt and ~28k HP and 220% crit damage. Full zerk you’d have more crit out of shroud, less crit in shroud, and free up the GM trait slot. Basically it comes down to whether you value the HP from Valkyrie or the traits. The vit scales with Shroud too (though its nto as dramatic as on your normal health bar)

It’s possible to get 40% base with that mix!

Scythe is clipping my camera. kitten it.

Apparently….people have been using a few combos.

Chill doing damage or reaper’s onslaught.

dhuumfire

and Soldier’s/valk gear with Sinister trinkets.

I would try this…but sinister trinkets seem really difficult to actually obtain

otherwise the combo seems nicely when:

staff 3 poison field, Reaper shroud 4 spin inside of it, stack 18+ poison, and then swing away to do massive ammounts of burning.

I want to try it…I really do.

alas, I am unable to get a lot of sinister trinkets.

;_; sadness overhwelming.

This makes me really proud of the reaper. I personally find staying in one stat-set lame and wish it was the more viable option.

GS Necro in Teamfights Even Worse

in Necromancer

Posted by: Clairenix.2780

Clairenix.2780

I’ve been enjoying GS in pvp, 1vx and teamfights.

The main things I notice I want are stability while not in shroud, Death Spiral to do more damage, and the heinous aftercast of Gravedigger to be reduced so that it actually feels good to chain together without quickness. Oh, and I’d also like access quickness (beyond the excellent Superior Runes of Speed/Agility), but that’s less realistic.

I can get around the above, but they sure would go a long way to Reaper feel like what it was advertised to be and flow better.

I’ve been making do with the stability from the elite shout, but It could use a stunbreak tho..

Blighter's boon is not a grandmaster trait

Clairenix.2780

i run Spite, Soul Reaping, Reaper with a strength sigils
in reaper shroud every swing is pretty much proccing 4 stacks of might,
meaning either a nice bit of healing or 4% life force.

with the right build Blighter’s Boon is awesome!

I am running the same, and this is like, the universal build of most reapers(except with onslaught). At most if feels like life stealing in shroud. Out of shroud, it’s not 4% life force. It’s around 1% per might proc from str sigil, and if you run buff shouts and elite shout, a couple % of burst LF% (10%?15%?)..

At this point, I’d consider decimate defences to be the GM trait in it’s place.

I wonder how swapping them would affect current builds..

That wouldn’t be a good idea. Reaper’s Onslaught can’t compete against DD as a DPS trait.

And all synergy would be lost with Chilling Victory and Blighters Boon if they compete for the master slot.

Yeaah.. nvm, but that other comment really shows how much value DD has.

Blighter's Boon Recrafting

in Necromancer

Clairenix.2780

I honestly loved the concept of blighter’s boon, just a lighter version of the nerf would’ve sufficed for me.

Such as gating the heals with an appropriate cooldown.

The Necro, for the first time actually had a really good possible team play (kindof like powering a juggernaut), that said; there was too much healing/life force generation going on. I think just toning it down would’ve been great.

Another idea that I think maybe(?) could work was:

A reverse of what we have now, instead of healing whenever you gain boons.. how about gain short-term boons whenever you are healed, time gated ofcourse..(thematically, what doesn’t kill you; only makes you stronger)
I found this interesting in a way that you can’t be healed while in shroud!, so there would have to be a balance shrouding and not shrouding..
This also finally gives the necro a boon generator, much like other classes..

But eh, could be broken, could be lame. I found it interesting..
maybe I’ll think harder on this one lol.. I’m not very good at this ..

Runes of Strength vs Runes of Scholar

in Necromancer

Posted by: Clairenix.2780

Clairenix.2780

I’m running strength for the 100% uptime of the 5% bonus damage, and for higher uptime of 25 stacks of might (trust me you feel this one, huge duration boost).

Scholar’s 10% bonus damage was too hard for me to maintain and I feel like, despite the ferocity boost, and bigger damage numbers when my HP is above 90% that I am still doing better DPS with strength.. plus the 25 stacks of might duration always feels great to have, you really feel the power for longer.|

That said, Scholar will always (I think) output higher DPS, IF and ONLY IF you maintain above 90% HP the whole fight!, which I think is undo-able for me.. the only deal breaker to the rune, I’d say.

P.S. I went yolo, I used to rune scholar all the time.

What gear do you use? Full zerk or something with Valk?

I’m using Valk Armor + Zerk Weapons + Zerk rings and amulet + Marauder backpack and earrings.

Pretty happy with the setup, since I have around 40% crit chance, and alot of vit to sustain my shroud and my self. (I tend to play recklessly, and it’s more fun that way..)

Clairenix.2780

BB is fine it’s still the most versatile GM, the nerf isn’t that terrible, I’m just saying it could have been a lot worse like if they went back to BWE1 kind of reaper.
imo str sigils does a mighty fine job Even if u don’t run spite, let’s be real how many of you would spam autos all the time in shroud anyway, and if you happen to also take chillin victory it’s still allright of a grand master.

Edit
Let’s not for get infusing terror is also a boon giving skill and it needs no investment in spite
This is a better way to handle such a trait as BB compared to adding more Icd
The only other way I can see this being handled is to restrict BB to specific boon types example: might only, but that’ s even worse than restricting it to self applied boons unless u roll with a ps war

I wouldn’t call it versatile as it’s dependent on spite. Sigils of might give you 1% life force per second / around 200 hp per second on a level 80 map, nearly negligible.
Not only that, it’s only dependent on your ‘self-stacking’ might, the necro barely has any other boons to throw, maybe a 2-3 other boons at a time which equates to around 600 hp and 3% life force; unimpressive.

Chilling victory does have good synergy(nearly doubles your lifeforce/life gain whenever enemy is chilled) with it, but I wouldn’t really drop decimate defences either, unless you’re taking death perception, in which case you’re not getting a crit increase outside of shroud.

There’s alot more factors we can talk about such as, taking death perception – taking chilled victory for might – dropping spite all together for something else and then taking blighter’s boon..(not sure how good this would be but sounds unappealing..) but then chill uptime is a bit abysmal.

overall BB amounts to a small increase in sustainability.. eh. it just doesn’t work too well with current necro/reaper, to be honest.

Since when was negligible damage on a non-stacking condition with only like 80% uptime assuming the enemy never cleanses conditions a grandmaster trait?

I wouldn’t think it’s negligible when everyone is going gaga over it, not to mention BB needs spite for it to be usable now.

From what I read though, you might be talking about Dhuumfire.

I think he means Deathly Chill. At least Dhuumfire has the broken damage going for it and can get stacked decently with Reapers srhoud. But yeah, we pretty much have 1 good Grandmaster in that line now… Seems to be an illness most Necro-Traitlines seem to have.

That makes alot of sense now. I thought he was replying to my previous reply.

Now I retract my previous reply, and actually somewhat agree that Deathly Chill.. is pretty meh as well.

Sidenote though, Deathly Chill is lovely with a condi build, not sure about how much DPS it contributes however.

If you play as a Reaper you have to stay all the time you can in RS to deal your max damage, making you 50-66% of the time in RS

because dealing max damage and playing correctly are the samething. Survival? who needs that! dodging? nahhhh.

lol

You have to dodge and increase your survival rate to be in RS longer, so you can keep your damage up longer. Haha.
