A giant axe or a greatsword SHOULD do more damage than a pigsticker.
Someone wielding a dagger should be more agile in fight.
Now look at greatsword and dagger mobility and compare.

No sense.

Just hopping in here to say that in Tyria, magic isn’t just some flashy stuff old men with long beards conjure up for birthday parties. Magic infuses everyone and everything, so you can’t be an edgy “I ESCHEW MAGIC TO KILL MY ENEMIES” Warrior because, whether you like it or not, the techniques and abilities you use are infused with some level of magic. Do you really think your shouts and pieces of cloth on wooden frames are so powerful because they’re cool? No, there’s magic involved.

you sure that banners dont work because of instilling inspiration?

im pretty sure magic is involved with them appearing out of nowhere and the elite making a magic circle tho…

I was pretty surprised that spellbreaker seemed to have even less depth than berserker, and I was disappointed in the lack of depth then, too

its kind of true
reused animations (sofar), boon removal… and a counter… not really setting the world on fire… at least berzerker literally did that :P

The berserker primal bursts really changed the class to make its bursting faster paced, at-least it felt like a change to warrior.

really, all we really got with Spellbreaker is a cool counter, boonstrip does not feel new.
Really the elite is the real talking point here, counter only really shines when the enemy is also shining. And boons being stipped is not the end of the world to an enemy, hell i belive other classes still have better boonstrip already, especially when talking about reapers who corrupt the boons, arguably better.

Possibility to make spellbreaker feel better

in Warrior

Posted by: Cloud Windfoot Omega.7485

Cloud Windfoot Omega.7485

Anyone have Ideas?
I have two possibilities which i think will strengthen spellbreaker, synergize with necro better and make us feel like we actually got something new.

The first suggestion is rather than stripping boons, what if the spellbreaker DISABLED boons. Simply put, the specialization would have its first minor add something like “when boons are suppose to be removed, they are disabled instead.” What this means is that for a short timer, the boon that would have been stripped will instead be crossed out. Basically they would have a boon which is not giving them any help until the timer runs out, reapplication would still work, it would just continue to be disabled for the short disable duration. And since the boon is still there, just disabled, necros can still capitalize on their existence.

the second suggestion is to simply add a F3. Hell knows its about time for it. I was thinking about two different possibilities. One a chargeable boonstrip/disable mechanic, not using Adrenaline, but instead something specific to this burst. Simply put, the more you charge it the more you can strip/disable when it is released. The second version could use the same charging mechanic, but instead of stripping any boons, it copies boons from players around(possibly even teammates) for as many charges you have gained. In not as keen on the second but it does sound interesting to me.

Feel free to add your own ideas in this thread. Always a fun topic.

Well it is obvious characters will be deleted with everyting on them but what about rewards earned by pvp reward tracks. In my opinion it is more like acc progress and we have no option of turning them off . So lets say I finished reward track with beta character and I passed item to bank or salvaged and passed away or something similar. What will happens to item after beta ?

Probably only Anet knows answer but it feels like waste to contact support about things like that xD

It might be ok in PVP, but it’ll be useless garbage in PVE.

I’m ok with that.

I’m not. I don’t do any PVP at all, and I want my new expansion thing to be useful in the area of the game that I play.

It’s total stupidity to make any specs be catered only to a specific area of the game.

you realise that that is the whole POINT of the elite specs, right?

the whole reason they exist is so the devs can make each spec good at something without the issue of needing to make them good at everything, which is an absolute NIGHTMARE to balance.

think of it this way: would you like base Warrior or Berserker to get nerfed in PvE because it’s doing really good in PvP?

of course you wouldn’t, why should you be punished for the class doing well in a mode you don’t play?

well, by making Spellbreakers a PvP focused spec, they can focus on making it good in PvP whilst keeping the nerfs done to the base class or Berserker at a minimum.

sure, you don’t get a shiny new spec this round if you are absolutely adamant that you NEVER want to do PvP, but that could easily flip around next expansion if it introduces a PvE focused spec, heck, look at Renegades: they are shaping up to be great in PvE but absolute GARBAGE in PvP

(I’ll also point out as well that from last week’s demo, Forged seem to give themselves a LOT of boons, making boon stripping a valuable ability even in PvE)

All I’m hearing are excuses for lazy balancing. All specs, all elites, everything, should be viable in all aspects of the game.

Why would I pay real money to not have the class I play, that I have spent real money to expand its inventory, not be usable in the game mode that I play?

It really does reek
people who skip a expansion should not be penalized and locked to any mode. If your xpack has PvE(which it should….) it better have all classes shiny news be able to play that PvE well.

Why not begginer mode raids? getting meta is a bit of a learning curve to ask off casual newbs. but lots of casual nubs would like to raid. Begginer mode to kindle a passion for raiding instead of all the hassle of being perfect first raid, or more likely…. being the carried burden.

its not practical. Good in theory, but in the end the players will not learn the lesson that would be needed to register the numbers, and the people using these programs will not be the ones running these training raids… their time is too valuable to themselves, why else do you think they would rather waste time by kicking people?

Yes, labeling and calling each other names will always end well. Kitten elitists and kitten casuals will be forever locked in a world of kitten.

actions have consequences, the act of kicking someone like that has the consequence of people disliking you and giving the player base a bad name. There is nothing wrong with discouraging the elitist attitude by calling it like it is seen.

Before dps meters we had party search requirement that tried to do the exact same thing. You had to have over 30k achievement points, the right titles that prove that you have finished the content on challange mote, Legendary insights/kill proofs from raids, and in some cases you also had to ping gear on joining. Failing any of those resulted in a kick.

On the more extreme end you had people that wouldn’t even let you in their group to start with until you filled in an application, soloed a 5 man boss encounter, and preferable been personal recommended by someone they trust. The distaste for “pugs” was real and very noticeable.

DPS meters mitigate the need for all that. Some people still behave like that but in my personal experience it is much less common now after DPS meters have become main practice, and I rather not go back to how it was before. Pugs are no longer hated for being pugs, but rather people are judged based on metrics. Those metrics could be flawed, but no one need to solo lupi or MAMA.

So, toxic people had to show up front they were being toxic and now they get to hide behind a dps meter and be just as toxic but won’t show themselves until someone looks to join into their group?

Here’s a thought, how about those people make guilds based solely around their perceived “elite” gaming set up and have some kind of rigorous guild membership whatever. If people want to join their guild, its on them to deal with whatever tests and metrics they want to set and if they fail they get kicked from their guild. Outside of that, if those people want to fun high level fractals and raid, they can just do them with their guild. They want to DPS meter anyone, they need to be in their guild. If they do anything with anyone outside of their guild though, they can just hush it and keep the dps meter bs to themselves.

haha, you expect elites to befriend others. They will just end up kicking everyone else out for having an off day where their dps is sub-optimal!

Why do you think they play public, because no one wants to play with them and their elite attitude. Otherwise, they would.

Magic find does not worth anything…

there was a video Potatoe Made not long ago about it

he stacked a BUNCH of stuff to get his magic find to arround 800-900….. then oppened a BUNCH of chests and bags and also done some stuff and events…

and there was no visible change in the loot at all….

that stat is the most useless stat in the game right now…

I play accounts with both high and low magic find and I’d disagree with that categorically. Magic find is from drops, not from bags or chests. Killing stuff, a lot of stuff is the only real way to test it.

I get far more rare and exotic drops on my high magic find accounts than I get on my low magic find accounts. Enough to be easily visible to the naked eye.

See that’s funny how that works out, as I maxed out along time ago, and id be lucky to get 1 exotic a month from all content I play, yet my friend who doesn’t believe in it, and only has around 50% MF is getting exotics every couple of days from the same content?

Which brings back the old topic of accounts are tagged to get rare loot vs accounts that are not.

remember it is just a modifier, it does not guarantee anything, some people just have all the luck.

DPS meters are fine, but in my opinion have no place is being used as a tool to judge if others deserve to play with an elitist holier than thou player.
Its a tool for self optimization and premade team optimization, LFG teams should not be perfect, its what makes them fun, not for hitting quotas.

These DPS meters only help a very small percent of people, and are more likely to drive away possibly promising players from playing a game mode that they may have interested in. I can never be fore something that will potentially drive people away due to people and their elitist attitudes. No its not as bas as using arbitrary things like mastery level or achievement points and titles, but do not mistake a lesser of two evils as good.

Does Tanking exist?

in Warrior

Posted by: Cloud Windfoot Omega.7485

Cloud Windfoot Omega.7485

The thing is, people still look at classes in GW2 the way they look at them in other games:

Warrior = Tank
Guardian = Off-tank/Healer
Elementalist = Ranged DPS/Healer
Ranger = Ranged DPS
etc.

GW2 isn’t structured like this. GW2 says “Here are classes. Classes have tools that make them fill a variety of roles in different ways. If you want to be tanky, build a class tanky and see what makes it different.” As to how well they’ve accomplished giving each class tanky/damage/support options, that’s a topic for another day, but fundamentally each class is designed around tools and playstyle, not a given role.

What’s contested is more the fact that tanking is owned by a fashionista class instead of either one of the heavy armor classes. This is absolute nonsense, counter-intuitive and misleading. And frankly as one of the classes that has the cool armors it’s disappointing to be incompetent as a tank, especially when the guy that tanks well wears a dress.

I don’t think warriors would object tanking belonging to guardians or revenants, as long as you get at least one valid tank option for one of the heavy armor class.

atleast guardians have guard in their name, ridiculous that warriors and guardians do not live up to the kitten namesake
Warriors are suppose to be good at fighting, not supporting
guardians are suppose to be good at guarding and light healing sure.

Its ass backwards when heavy armour cant do heavy armour things too. Why even bother.

You know how people "Adapted’ after the last patch? We switched to Cancer Condi, or tried to salvage the fun we originally had with Power Berzerker, in the hope that this time around we’d get Power Warrior back.

The only time berzerker was in a “Worse Spot” (Allegedly) was early in Heart of Thorn’s PvP, when we had far more deadly and fun Primal Burst skills (Decapitate, Arc Divider, and Gunflame were all stronger), but insufficient sustain to contribute competitively.

I really wish the developers would stop taking fun things away, especially when it’s generally underperforming anyway.

And what’s this nonsense about Berzerkers being OP in WvW? Druids, Engis, and thieves all were better roamers, and Guardians, Elementalists, and Necromancers outshined Warriors in larger fights, while Mesmers provided insane utility (And roaming power with GS). Then again, it seems any time Warrior is strong enough to provide a real role and hold its own, players of other classes perceive it as OP because Warriors aren’t merely the stock disposable redshirt footmen everyone fighting them wants them to be.

The funny thing is, you can go to pretty much every subforum right now and find posts just like yours about different classes.

Within hours of a major, across the game balance patch (complete with new traits) people were already complaining about the death of their class.

The dust hasn’t even settled yet.

only warriors before the nerf were already under preforming.
The other classes also got huge nerfs, but they were actually performing before.

Does Tanking exist?

in Warrior

Posted by: Cloud Windfoot Omega.7485

Cloud Windfoot Omega.7485

Theoretically there could be a PS warrior tank (tank and PS support), but that hasn’t emerge.

This game is often disappointing. Tanking is a natural role for the warrior in every game. Players don’t play warriors to be support healers but to be tanks.

By avoiding pure Trinity this game has gotten to position where even though those roles exist, the meta for both roles are filled more optimally by hybrids — chrono (tank & quickness/alacrity support), druid (healing & GotL/GoE support).

I don’t think this is a bad thing. Anet can maintain this dynamic, but they just need to make other “hybrid” roles viable.

I disagree… i believe that if a role is hybrid it should preform lower in both roles than a profession geared towards a single role.
Its rediculous to have a hybrid do a job better than a single class, you might as well just throw the single into the trash, because not only does that hybrid do it better, it does other useful things too. You just cannot invalidate another profession like that.

Berserk=downgrade: build stage 3 to get 1!!!?

in Warrior

Posted by: Cloud Windfoot Omega.7485

Cloud Windfoot Omega.7485

So the actual nerf means that;

-Cleansing Ire now cleanses 1 condi when you land your Primal Burst instead of 3
-Adrenal Health gives you 1 stack of AH (but you can still stack it to three times I believe?)
-Berserker’s Power also requires stacking to reach 21%

Everything else remains the same right (dmg, condi application, durations, etc.)?

Cleansing Ire nerf seems totally justified. Warriors in Berserk were nigh immune to conditions. Adrenal Health seemed a little overtuned as well, this nerf is quite extreme though. Berserker’s Power nerf seems uncalled for, but who can afford to run Strength in PvP/WvW anyway?

Berserker’s Power is a PvE trait and the best trait Power warriors had in increasing their already underwhelming sustained damage. The change goes against what ArenaNet stated what they change would do: feel good about using consecutive low level bursts.

the problem is, they did not add a positive to the trade off for using lower level bursts at all.
There were so many possibilities they could have went with to make it feel better.

1) they could have lowered the cool down of bursts for using a lesser burst allowing for more consecutive level 1 bursts (not recommended as that is the point of primal burst)

2) increase the duration of berserker’s power with a lower level burst, allowing them to actually make use of the god kitten stacking mechanic… Giving players a lower overall time with 3 stacks than level 3 burst would have gave them, but with a longer time having berserk power active in total.

3) reset the timer each burst, which will have players devoting most the playtime to keeping the stack up, making it yet again just have players have to keep gaining adrenaline, it would just be another rat race to 3…. but if we allowed this we could potentially have 3 for indefinite playtime…. so for both those reasons… i say this does not work either…. we cannot have players use a level 3 burst and then keep it going with level 1 bursts. Its too much.

4) Throw out the stacks, just go with the max with every burst. 1 2 3 all the same, just have each burst level have a different timer. With the right lengths, you could totally balance berserker’s power for each burst level.

any of the above + this) just make bursts worth 3 kitten, or atleeeeast make entering berserk worth 3! As i See it, you are using 3 stages, then refilling a single stage.
