I wasn’t aware of this as I only just joined the forums. Maybe it’s because alot of people want it :P

there is a search function. And really, you REALLY did not think this would have been suggested?

Sorry for not thinking to search for a thread before making one of my own.. (not actually sorry) -.- Of course it probably has, doesn’t mean I shouldn’t be able to share my own view on it and why I think it’s a good idea.

if you think it has been, then instead of maing a new thread clogging up the thread with more threads on it, while posting in the wrong place, go to the right place, find a thread that already exists and post in it. Forum etiquette

i suggested this long ago but no one seemed to even care. In-fact i think i talked about this a few weeks ago. Its a great idea, but great swords can be further separated, great cleaver would be a one edged sword that is much heftier but would do slow but powerfull attacks, and could include blocking using its backside. Double sided would be quicker as a slash can be fallowed up quickly. Sawblades would apply effects like bleed and cripple and the attacks would be used in both slash and drag motions. so on soforth. the same can be said with many weapons and subwepon classes

i would also like to see single handed wepons and double handed to change the skillbar fully and not just the last few skills.

NPC Trebuchets

in Suggestions

Posted by: Cloud Windfoot Omega.7485

Cloud Windfoot Omega.7485

Truth be told that man for man being on a treb is the most efficient way to make progress for your WvW team. The problem is its way too boring. Who wants to sit in the same spot pressing 2 for ages? Not I, yet i do it cause its the best way to help my team.

What I suggest is this. Create a new type of Trebuchet with about 50 casts on it (number can be altered). for this trebuchet it might cost more supply, prehaps 120. You aim the treb where you want it to fire, it has 50 casts so try to get it right asap. Then you hit the auto cast button and leave the trebuchet and an NPC takes over the shooting for you, where you had the treb aimed and with the force/distance from your last cast.

Regardless of if you keep the types of trebuchets currently in the game while also having these new trebuchets it would free people up from not having to sit pressing 2 all the time. Maybe the casts would be slower or faster thats up to Anet to balance out. Any ideas on how to improve this idea are welcome.

give the treb a supply pool which can be refilled, firing the treb will cost supply. run out cant fire anymore. Simple

I believe they should have:
1) Weaponsubclasses (like swords can have sabre, rapier broadsword… so on)
2) each weapon has its own weaponskills (fullrework) will give players reasons to search out different weapons
3) A system where you can evolve the weapon bar though play. As you level with a certain weapon type a new skillset unlocks for it with different skills and you can switch between the skillsets but not individual skills. and it can be done on the fly.

WvWvW: Make zergs less effective, while endorsing team play.

How would you do that, though? Be specific. Not trying to be a smart kitten here, I just don’t see how to make numbers not matter in large scale pvp. And what do you mean by endorsing team play?

team play is when you work together to achieve a goal using each other to work towards a goal. zergs can be avoided by using fortifications that multiply damage based on how many enemys they hit. As most zergs travel in large packs the multiplier would be huge making the zerg work less.

come on dont give me the 3rd degree just because you dont like what i said,.

-Unique Town Clothing that they can’t get (Baseball Hat, Devil Horns, Witch’s()Hat) because they were limited time only.
-Lost Shores Event: A three day event that reward players with precursors/exotics/rares, 20 slot bag, exotic trinket, armor skins, and all the experience that came with it.
-Shadow of the Mad King: A week and a half event that gave players exotics, a chest they could farm, 10 slot bags, weapon skins, Unique town clothing (limited time), and the experience that came with it.

And you think it is unfair that they get a few one use items and a Wizard’s() Hat? Let’s not forget that they are starting completely fresh and you have all your work that you have accomplished, and if you bought the game during beta, you got to participate in the beta weekend events as well.

Yep. All that stuff Anet has given you over the last few months that they cannot get is nothing compared to a Wizard’s() Hat and a few consumables.

but they get it for cheaper, and i could not attend anything but a cap that i kinda dont want….. and it cost me more. they should have thankyou gifts that cant be missed easily. if they wana look like cool grandpa

80 doesn't feel like achievement

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Cloud Windfoot Omega.7485

Cloud Windfoot Omega.7485

What is the meaning of leveling if leveling is meaningless. And if that’s the case why do it?

Try to make a list of things you can do at 80 that you can’t at level 79 and you’ll see that this list is very small. Reaching level 80 therefore has very little meaning in this game other than that it’s an activity that has ended and doens’t give you an achievement.

So anyone who says that leveling is just a precursor to the full game are talking out of their rear ends. You can do almost anything before you are level 80.

There is hardly any level 80 content
You don’t get any new skills or abilities at 80
You can go to lower areas but that kills the replay value for alts
Most dungeons are pre-80
WvW doesn’t require level 80
Story line ends in a most non-epic way
etc.

It’s just a silly idea to artificially create additional levels that don’t actually add any value. The game could’ve gone to level 30-50 max and it wouldn’t have made any real difference.

The story line could’ve been done within that time. Just do one or two story line quests per level and presto.
All skill slots are unlocked by then anyway.
Traits are a system with all kinds of unnecessary things in it so can easily be simplified and actually might make sense then.

And you needed a lot less persistent areas to level in per race so each race could level most of the time in their own regions adding to the replay value or use fewer areas so people are less spread out while leveling.

And then you could unlock dungeons and certain cool skills at max level giving max level something useful and thereby meaning. And a better story line would’ve helped also making it feel more of an achievement.

Just some ideas.

so your saying levelling is not meaningless.

unless its this game where it is meaningless because you get almost nothing for levelling.

Someone is snippy this morning. That is not pseudo wisdom, that is just how it is. Don’t like it? I could care less. This is not a game about getting to the highest level.

You say it isn’t meant to be…based on what? You gave no reason or foundation for your statement. In fact if reaching max level isn’t a big deal then why did they go from 20 (GW1) to 80 levels in GW2?

Same reason attacks now do 100 times the number they did before.

If anything it’s getting more and more people. Can’t walk 2 feet on my server without running into people. Did Teq last night at 4am and must have had 100+ people. Seems most people just refuse to open their eyes.

100 people is nothing. Opening week, you can’t even get out of overflow to do shadow behemoth.

facepalms

On opening week, every single player was in the same zone. Now the population has spread out more. Doesnt mean the game is dying, just means that there are no longer 1000 people stuffed in the same square meter.

it went from stuffy to barren though (all zones) except 1 or 2 areas per zone. there really should be a happy medium

Cloud Windfoot Omega.7485

Thanks for the brisk replies. As I mentioned in my OP, I do have a biased knowledge of how RP goes based on roughly 6 years of playing on a pvp server in wow; wherein saying you RP was met with unanimous cruelty and rudeness.

From these replies so far, I’v gathered that RPing is more of a persistent state of play rather than a scheduled or spontaneous event; i.e. my character Lord Bidwell is a certain way always and thus I personally respond to all situations as if I were him. That sounds fairly fun and immersive, however I must admit that constantly being in character sounds like a pretty daunting challenge. For example, if I accidentally say something out of character at the wrong time I could end up spoiling other peoples’ fun which is obviously the exact opposite of what I’m going for here.

slipups are fine. seeing as you are new. and even pro’s sometimes slip up. just dont bring attention to yourself by saying sorry about it or explaining it. either pretend it did not happen or explain it in character like you meant to say it.

Cloud Windfoot Omega.7485

I’m always a little dumbfounded at how many people don’t get that this game doesn’t have mob tagging/kill stealing and that everyone gets the same reward killing something with others as they get killing something solo. I always try to double up for greatest efficiency when I overlap with others, but maybe 75% will actively separate rather than cooperate, making the task at hand take longer for both of us due to the thinning of mobs in the area.

Speaking of dumbfounded… gw2 actually does have mob tagging and kill stealing. If you’re not doing AOE damage, you’re going to miss the drops and even credit or certain events. Hence why when there’s larger groups of people doing events, it’s smarter to group up so you can do more damage to groups of mobs and have it spread because events don’t scale properly based on the population. Mob tagging and kill stealing doesn’t matter in smaller groups but it most certainly does when there’s more people around.

really sucks when there is gigantic groups in some events, where you cant even land a blow and when you do you still feel like you did not do much to help. Simply because too many are playing that event

My guild trebbed down a wall at garrison, called it twice in map chat to push to the side and enter at the big hole in the wall. We push in and scuffle with the defenders for about 5 mins, I happen back outside to see people still beating on a reinforced door -.-

had stuff happen like that but in reverse.
they blew a hole in our wall, with 0 defenders besides me and their hoard army kept attackinng the door…. then they left for god knows why

WvWvW: needs defence structures that do more damage, better placemnt and gives the defenders an advantage that the attackers must overcome.

give the attackers alternate ways to attack. running a keep out of supplies should make its defensive emplacements weaker. secret ways in, alow attackers to take secret ways in, but allow attackers to set up traps that can kill 1 player instantly, but alow some to be disabled and/ or avoided. (more should always be added to WvWvW)

PvP: game modes is pretty much spot on. i dont see much esle to say.

PvE: this one is tough. i cant come up with much And i am a PvE player. one solution may be more 1 time events…. but that means people will only crowd those events……

Rate my creation & tell me how you'd improve.

the way i see it, is the downed state is great on paper but at this moment is flawed, not because it sucks in-game, its just unbalanced and lacks depth that i was hoping for. the downed state Should mean a much higher attack (with a bleedout, no mobility) and the ability to get back up if used right. each have their own skills but some like the warriors are just odd. guaranteed death with a off-chance of not dying? used this in pvp and died after killing what seemed like a buttload of enemies. im jsut hoping they put ina bit more veriaty and ways to use this mechanic.

Geek,

While I agree that system sounds more convenient, it also seems to lend itself better to the style of wild star, from the screenshots I’ve seen. That game takes a much more cartoon/colorful take on a game world, in my opinion, so that giant red and blue circles isn’t that distracting.

Guild wars 2 seems far more subdued, and I just don’t know how giant filled in colorful circles everything would look…think about WvW battles…maybe 30 aoes going off in total…it would be sheer madness.

if they are a magic attack, make them look like a magic circle for the whole area, making it glow. if its physical then no change really needed. they are not meant to be easy to dodge.

It is whoever buys or sells first. if there was 200 being sold and you sold 200 more you would need to wait for 200 to sell before it sells your items. i have seen this though trial and error.

i recently proved this when i sold 250 of one item but none of mine sold until the item stock got to 250, as no one added any items to the stock of that price.

i tested the same for buy and it holds true, which begs the question. why dont they make the list of items being sold available on the sell screen. it makes figuring out if you want to wait on a price or sell at the lowest or even if you want to undercut so much easier. the current system just has too little info, you got to run around to figure it out.
