and IF u were aiming for hardcore stuff, there was legendaries
this game is different from any other game, this game is aimed more towards social participation and friendshipness, removing any sign of direct competition, ie: rankings, that creates tension between players!
this is more like a game to relax and do whatever, whenever!!

So, as i was checking the Wiki to see what was the look of the Legendary weapons that i use the most (Sword/Focus)
i checked the Bolt and the Minstel..
when i was checkin Bolt, i could read a lot of specific details about the looks and the special effects it add to the player when it was being used, but then i went to check on The Minstrel, wich is a legendary Focus, and the wiki didnt had any info about the special effects or anything!!
Does that means it doesnt have anything special?

it was an achievment that rewarded 20 points, it was very worth working for it to have it done,

Why couldnt a Sylvari have visioned it. Why couldnt a a Charr/Human/Norn stumble upon one of their shells, or be part of a pirate crew that came from the island. Again, it did not need to be designed around Asura. As for presents, the Norn are also known for their craftmanship, so it is perfectly reasonable for a Norn to craft toys. Nothing says that these gifts have to be technologically advanced.

’Captain’s Council Commendation’ is a pretty generic name for a currency that could be awarded for almost anything you do for Lion’s Arch. I think it’s safe to assume they were designed to be applicable to more than just the reconstruction event.
but they werent introduced as such.. so i think they shouldnt be removed once LA is rebuilt..
else it would look weird.. and break the story behind it..
mayb they’ll add something else in the future..
It will probably be here to stay. No point in making a junk sink if you remove it after a while.
That makes sense, however the story behind it is that it’s to help rebuild the city of Lions Arch and the citizens in it. If they are able to have a big Wintersday party, would they really need aid?

Truth is, the Jad Maw boss applies a full party agony at each phase change, including the very start of the fight. You cannot dodge that one at all and at level 18/20 it plain kills you if you don’t have resist. You cannot really heal it either. The farther you go the stronger it gets.
welp, i just did another lv10 run, and this time tested some ideas to avoid agony on Jad Maw boss, and yes, u can dodge all the agony on it

Agony is based on a skill that you can dodge
all except, probably, from Jad Maw boss
but even as it is, the first Agony u can just let it run out and after you’r back up healed start fighting! and then just be carefull with it and not lure too many monsters at the same time, lol!
even if u wipe, Jad Maw doesnt reset hp, so is not that bad!
Agony is not a skill based mechanic. The only source of agony that anyone actually cares about is the Jade Maw’s agony, which can’t be dodged.
Fractals tend to give nice items like charged cores on top of rares. These can be sold for lots of money, which can be used to buy exotics. Probably faster to buy the exotics with gold than money, aside from really expensive ones like swords. They also provide ascended back pieces and rings, of course, which cannot be gotten anywhere else.
The game encourages finding a main group only because the normal grouping system is horrid.

normal dungeons give this stuff too, have you tried doing dungeons with the new loot system??
the only thing Fractals have over normal dungeons are the ascendant items, but those cannot be sold, so is not a money making thing!
and if you wanna go high lvl fractal, u’r pretty much going to need a perma group, PUGs fail even on non Agony lvls..
Difficulty scaling splits up people interested in doing the dungeon into many groups: Makes it hard to form teams, usually takes a long time searching for people to join. Makes it unrewarding doing lower level difficulties. Massive LFP spam in Lion’s Arch.
Agony is hardly a skill-based mechanic. It’s described as a condition, yet it cannot be removed. The best way to survive agony is by getting new gear, effectively outdating current exotic gear. The new gear is either hella expensive, or reliant on a random drop system. These are requirements to progress through the difficulty scaling in the higher levels. Being forced to grind through low and easy difficulties before getting to the more difficult stuff.
Fractals having statistically better rewards than any of the other dungeons. Makes it harder to find parties for other dungeons now, because of less reasons to go there anymore.
People not getting auto-ressed when a dungeon boss is defeated can possibly result in griefing: People not willing to res teammates, especially a bad thing at the end of the 3rd dungeon. Final attack of Jade Maw is a free-for-all instead of a team effort: Rewards players for selfish gameplay, rather than teamwork.
I could probably come up with more, but these are the major ones.

And even with that, if some1 is lv30 and his main group isnt on, he can easily just join a lv10 fractals just for the sake of doing it, just because it would be incredibly easy for him! i’v had people of lvl30 fractal doing lv10 with me, just because his main group wasnt on!
That same guy taught me that Agony actually IS a skill based thing, and just like any other skill you can dodge it!
and at lvl 30 you either dodge it, or pretty much die by it!
the kind of partys that make it that far, are the ones that actually study the boss fights and know every possible animation a boss do!
The best way to fight Agony is dodging at the right moment!
Right now ther’s no “better than exotic” gear since the only pink(Ascendant) stuff ingame are Rings and Back item!!
Ascendant gear is account bound, or at least the ones in game so far, u can only “craft” the stuff you already got from the daily to make it have resistances!
Fractals doesnt really “haave” better rewards than other dungeons, they’r just different!
Fractals cant provide you with full exotic set/weapon, yet!
unless you are lucky and get them from drops/chest! wich can happen in any other dungeon as well
The rest of the dungeons give you the tokens to trade for full exotic sets!
and i still see a lot of people doing normal dungeons, not just fractals!
Well, thats pretty much why you should find a small group of friends/guildies, so you dont get griefed,
ther’s Trolls in every game, is just how it is!
you can get griefed in any dungeon anyways, i.e: the person that joined the dungeon first, disbans the party be4 u claim your chest (happened to be twice on CM exp mode b4, not because they were griefing, but because they had to leave and i guess they didnt knew that would happen)
Well the Final attack is in between both things, is a FFA to be the person that picks a crystal up be4 it happens, and its also a teamplay thing, because if u survived you should ress your party members!!

Noone means Tpvp. Win is reward there(400 glory points an chest in frees more in paids)
However in Spvp there aint a reason to defend. Stealing points killing people earns me 300 points a game, but i lose it. Ok you defended your point got 200 points + % for win…. which isnt more then i did just running with zerg.
Your win is rewarded less then oponents loss, in this case, which feels lame.
Reward for win must be increased or reward for point defence.

Back on topic, the reward system promotes the LACK of team play. So, all of those people that play for REWARDS are doing so at the cost of team play, making those who want to win have to struggle because they are the only ones trying to accomplish that goal. Also, your soccer analogy doesn’t work because the goalkeeper is trying to win, but so are the other players. The correct analogy would be if the goalkeeper was getting paid to win, but all the other players on his team were getting paid by how many open field jukes and tricks they could do, meanwhile not trying to get the ball in the goal.

No, I have a team vision! But I also want to be rewarded for winning. I always play to win the match for my team and my personal score doesn’t affect how I play. If personal score was most important, I wouldn’t ever bother with objectives or strategy. I would simply run with zerg. And I probably wouldn’t have made this thread, either
The fact is that Arenanet have set up a massive disconnect between the scoring system and the game objectives. It doesn’t reward players who actually want to win the game and it doesn’t promote team play.
The scoring system appears to have been taken from a totally different game mode (death match) and superimposed upon another (point capture and defense).
I can understand that they want to make it fun for everybody and this includes the zerglings. Currently the score system is (loosely) as follows:
1. Killing people, capping points = large reward
2. Defending points, support, winning a game = unrewardedWouldn’t it be even more fun if it were:
1. Killing people, capping points = small reward
2. Defending points, support = small reward
3. Winning a game = large rewardI’m just trying to find a way that supports all styles of play but ultimately rewards the winners for winning. Call me weird, but I do play to win and I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect to be rewarded for winning. I play for fun too, but winning the game is the most fun part and is what makes me have “just one more match” even when it’s getting late. Why punish me for my victory by showing me a list of losers on a scoreboard, all of whom have higher scores than me?
If you dont feel is enough reward just by winning, you have a selfish vision of teamplay!!
as i said before, you dont see EVERYBODY on a, succesfull, Dota/LoL match being a carry or supports getting all the farm and kills (wich could translate to points here)
every team member has a role, supportive/defensive roles tend to be less rewarded all the time, but it doesnt make them any less important! yeah, it might look that way on the scoreboard, but keep in mind that that support is what makes the Carry strong on early game, in order to be able to win the game for the team late game
on a Football soccer game,
you see 1 goalkeeper, who could be something like a Bunker defending a point!
you see X amount of Defenders, who would be like bunkers defending points if there was more than just 1 Goal in the football game
then there is midfielders, that would be like roamers that go up and down (usually the ones with most stamina) to help either defend or attack!
You dont see 11 Forwards on a match just because they all want to score Goals!
Is all about the teamplay sacrifice!!
if you dont like to be a defender/bunker or if you wanna get more points (“reward”), i suggest u change ur build/class to something more offensive, or play only PUGs where nobody cares what you do and you see 5 people capping 1 point, or 5 people trying to finish 1 downed enemy!!
Defending points even if you do it is ussualy useless.
Their zerg will come you die, get 0 points, spend time ressing.Now lets say you survive the whole lets say 6v6 teamfight, you fight on point 6 ppl downed give you around 90 points, you can cap enemy point too giving tottal of 110 points, maybe you ress an ally afterwards for 10 extra points.
Defending is tottaly crapy. My suggestion to that would be. If you caped a point, time ticks, 1 tick each 30 seconds. If noone cap your point in those 30 seconds you get 10 points.
Since average game is 8-10 minutes you could get 160-200 points if noone caped your point in whole game. However not to abuse this for free farming glory, this should not activate if there arent at least 3vs3 in map
This is the perfect example of someone that doesnt understand the meaning of Teamplay and just wants to get points!
if ALL of your enemy team zergs your point(5 on tourney), means they dont have anybody in the other 2 points, making it easier for your team to cap those and still be on advantage, wich would be good for your team!!
now lets say they change the things as they are, and make them how this guy is saying they should be!
you’ll end up seeing 8 people defending 1 point and hoarding score during the whole match!! why would you go to any other point if you’r just getting free points by standing in a circle with the safety of having all your team there?
why would the enemy team even try to take that point, when they can just take theirs and do the same? or take both and do the same and win the match too!?
also, just so you guys know! you get glory for killing players while defending a point!

im pretty sure 80% of the people that play this kind of games or any other sort of “teamplay” games, like MOBAs, worry a lot more about their own score than the fact of actually winning the game as a team,
and thats is when you see a Support character stealing farm from a Carry ( if talking about MOBAs) or in GW2 case, a bunker build running trough points to cap and get more personal score, or trying to finish a target to get more points instead of defending his “Flag”!!
For this type of games your rewards come from the fact that your team won, you get the victory for your achievment and, if u’r in a tourney, you get a cute chest and extra glory at the end!
the problem is not in the game, is within yourself and the vision you have of the game!

Well… i know the perfect rune for my shortbow hunter.
Weapons use Sigils. Sigil of Air is Fine. It’s the Rune of Air proc that’s over the top. I don’t think there’s any doubt it will get nerfed eventually.

Can anyone post a build that’s registering these crits? So far the highest one I’ve had all afternoon has been around 1.5k, and that is running a full glass spec. Just curious if it’s a random glitch thing or if it’s in the actual programming for the proc.
i think it must be something really rare!
like having the lighting strike be a crit, and be full crit dmg thief, with schollar rune set or something + hitting the target from behind + prolly being stealthed

Their defensive capabilities would be adjusted accordingly. It’s not just oh add 4k more health to the guardian and ele and thief the way they are now, that wouldn’t make any sense.

pretty much asking to make the game PvP exactly like WoW! wich i dont really see why would we want thatbeing tanky and surviving has very few to do with the amount of HP you have, with thief backstabing for 12k, i dont think u would survive much just because you have 20k hp instead of 15k!
if you dont dodge, go invul, evade attack, break stuns, block, get aegis, etc
you aint gonna survive no matter how much hp you have!
surviveablity is based more in what skills you have and how you use them!People like you are why we can’t have nice things. You see one word “WoW” and immediately jump to a forgone conclusion without spending a second to think about what I typed and in what context it was.
Nowhere did I say or even imply that GW2 PvP should be anything like that in WoW. All I did was give an example of another MMO where the designers originally took the same stance on character HP, only to change their stance further along the way.
It was an example, nothing more, nothing less, so stop riding the hyperbole.
All I’m saying, and all I ever said on this matter was that the developers are making balancing unnecessarily difficult for themselves by having such a big discrepancy in base HP. This is as much an issue for PvP as it is for PvE.
Take for example and encounter designer. He wants to create a boss ability that will be threatening to players without one-shotting anything but a glass-cannon build.
How much damage should such an ability deal? 10.000 and the Warrior will just “yawn” . 15000 and the Thief will complain about getting one-shot.
It’s not impossible to pull off, but very difficult.
By having base-HP closer together they’d alleviate some of that balancing pressure by requiring less extremes. Elementalists wouldn’t have to mitigate 80% damage in order to attain decent survivability and Guardians could also have somewhat less mitigation without being less durable.
So we dont have nice things? i find the current sPvP and WvW very nice, ty!

i see why u are saying that HP difference makes balance harder, u dont know the rest of the mechanics! lol
Also, what if it makes balancing harder ?(wich makes no sense to me at all, but just going with what u said) they pulled it off, as you can see the players with the less HP can be the tankier ones!
And you know why you cant use WoW example to compare with GW2 system? because is not the same, ther’s no holy trinity here, ther’s no designed “healer” or designed “tank” or designed “DPS”!

i remember a friend linked me a stream of a tournament for in WoW for 3v3and it was the most boring thing ever
fight would last from 5 to 10 mins, until 1 of the sides lost 1 member and then they all lose!
most boring thing ever! no surprise, no way of making a comeback, nothing! it was always the same! over and over again!
That has absolutely nothing to do with HP counts and almost everything to do with the balance of offense and defense and the trinity system (with dedicated healers and everything).
As it is, we’re already trending towards such boring play thanks to the unbreakable bunker builds (two of which are, unsurprisingly, on two of the 10k HP classes). Those MUST be fixed, almost everyone is in agreement here.
(With this caliber of “feedback”, the devs really have their hands full…)
