Toxic and AFK Players (on purpose)

This situation is becoming all too common. It seems that one in every five games I play has someone (on either team) whine then afk at spawn after the first fight at mid doesn’t go 100% smooth.

I can report until I’m blue in the face. Others can do the same. The problem is still persisting. This is one of the reasons the PvP community is so small. It just ruins the game after waiting several minutes in queue only to have one player tank your progress.

A dev response to this situation would be nice, but I’m not holding my breath.

Yeah Leery, I forgot to mention that we also would get the prompt to accept credit for the Rush after completion. We accept. Nothing happens.

As a growing guild, it’s very frustrating when we need the Favor to more forward with Guild Hall upgrades, but can’t because of situations like this.

For some reason, myself and other guildies have been trying to complete this week’s “hard” mission, which just so happens to be the Quaggan Paddle Rush. We launch the mission. Usually there are a lot of other guilds doing the same Rush, so we join in and finish with them. 15/15. All conditions are met for us to get Favor for the guild, and personal rewards for those who participated. However, we get none of these.

This isn’t an issue of us not starting the Rush itself, as you have been able to join in on other Guild’s rushes forever. In fact, our other “easy” mission for the week is another rush. Which we were able to complete and get all the rewards from, doing so in the same fashion.

It will be a bit frustrating if we are jipped out of this week’s Favor for this mission slot.

I know this is happening to a lot of other people to. Almost everyone that waits at the end of the rush, after completion, is left in the same boat I am.

Who else is facing these issues?

+1 on the calendar

I’d like to see the ‘admin lower ranks’ being split up in ‘inviting’, ‘kicking’, ‘promoting’, ‘demoting’.

Another great idea! Never thought of splitting up admin abilities, but that would be a great quality of life improvement for higher ranks in Guilds.

Guild Calendars would be an excellent idea. That way it saves officers the trouble of having to remind people of upcoming guild events.

Yeah, especially as guilds grow and people have conflicting schedules.

Ah yes! Good addition! Notes for members would help wonders! I lead a smaller guild, and we like to get to know everyone and use our real names. It would be wonderful to be able to add a note to each member so that when people join, it makes it easier to remember everyone!

I’m sure in the three years that this game has been out, that the features I’m fixing to propose has come up before. I haven’t seen any posts about them. So, if I’m treading on old territory, please let me know.

1.)A Guild Information tab/panel!

Something that the leader (or member with permissions) can use to display all pertinent info. Teamspeak/Ventrilo/etc addresses, websites the guild have made or use frequently, schedules for events or raids, etc. Right now, the only means of displaying this is the Message of the Day, which I find to be counter-intuitive to what that function is suppose to be for. With a Guild Info tab, all that stuff can always be available (which is especially handy for new members) and the Message of the Day can be used freely for actual frequent updates.

2.) A Guild Calendar!

With the raid and new types of Guild Missions coming with HoT, it looks like guilds will have more to do together than ever before. This means that there will be a lot more planning and coordinating needed to get everything done. A Guild Calendar would work wonders here.

This would be a system for Guild Leaders (or members with permissions) to post future events for all guildies to see. Members can then accept/decline/tentative their availability for the events on that date at their leisure. This would make planning and seeing who is coming to events a breeze.

With the raid and new types Guild Missions coming with HoT, it looks like guilds will have more to do together than ever before. This means that there will be a lot more planning and coordinating needed to get everything done. Have you considered adding a Guild Calender in game?

This would be a system for Guild Leaders (or members with permissions) to post future events for all guildies to see. Members can then accept/decline/tentative their availability for the events on that date at their leisure. This would make planning and seeing who is coming to events a breeze.

We accept members from any server, but we consider our home base to be Henge of Denravi. Seems most of our active members are either Central or Eastern US time.

As for guild missions, we are currently working on finishing upgrades and getting bounties and such rolling out. Our leaders merged our old guild with another guild, and we eventually parted ways from said merger. So we started this new guild, and are building it up. That said, we do still have our old guild that has Bounties ready if need be.

We look forward to get all that stuff back and rolling with raid and such once HoT comes out and we fill our roster out a bit.

And for those that are saying they just recently bought the game and feel shafted now… If you already knew an expansion was coming out, surely you knew you were going to be paying for it? The game is still months away, and the fact that they mention ahead of time that it’s including the base game is beneficial to players coming in from here on out. Sucks that your timing was bad, but that is not Anet’s fault. You are just in the same boat as ever veteran that adopted the game long ago, and were also ready to pay for an expansion.

Before you start white knighting inform yourself.
The people who bought it recently are being shafted because ever since HoT was announced Arenanet advertised that they had to have the original to play the game and you had to buy it. They bought the game recently because Arenanet said they had to if they wanted to play HoT, and now all of a sudden after a lot of sales they change that. These people got shafted by Arenanet hard. It is beneficial for players from here on out, yet they already shafted all the players that have bought it since the original HoT announcement. It is Arenanets faults and thye are not in the same boat as the vets because they got the game under the pretence they had to to play HoT LIKE ARENANET HAD ADVERTISED. So next time if you come and white knight make sure you know what you are talking about.

To be fair, I mentioned in a reply to someone else above that I was, in fact, unaware of the FAQ issue and Anet saying you need to get the base game ahead of time. I changed my stance on that portion of the issue. So that was not needed.

They feel shafted because the wording of the original FAQs page indicated the base game and HoT would be 2 separate purchases and it isn’t. It’s a one-time purchase for both games that the vast majority would have waited to buy together if they’d had any indication of that possibility at all.

Ok, that is a solid point. I had no idea about the FAQ issue. I’ve been wading through all the outcries and must have missed that.

I change my stance on people that recently purchased the game. That said, veterans of the game saying they feel shafted I just can’t wrap my mind around.

Look at other franchise’s expansions for example. Every expansion that comes out for WoW comes with all the previous expansions. It would turn off many new players if they have to buy every version seperately of the game in order to get the new one. While GW2 is still young in its expansion life, this principle still holds true.

Please proves the bold part:
A bundle with the core game exist but it’s usually coming with a extension alone package. here there is only one package.

As for the game is now free; I didn’t heard GW2 core going free2play from Anet nor Anet offering free account to anyone registering & willing to have one.

I bought Warlords of Draenor when it came out and it had the content of every expansion previous to it. I hadn’t played in a while and only had my Vanilla discs left. Draenor provided everything from the previous versions so that people like myself didn’t have to go buy all the expansions just to get the new one.

It’s absolutely blowing my mind how much hate Anet is getting for this. Seriously, think about this for more than a second before you flip your desks.

The expansion is $50, period. GW2 came out nearly three years ago and has been giving us content ever since that we did not have to pay a dime for. If you spent real money in the gem store, than that is on you and has no merit in your argument. Paying for a substantial update once in three years is more than fair.

Now with that in mind, the base game coming with it is FREE!!! It’s not adding on to the price of the expansion. The amount of entitlement I’m seeing is really upsetting. I’ve always considered the GW community one of the best in MMOs. This wailing is starting to tarnish that outlook. I feel like the tons and tons of free content they have given so far has spoiled many.

I’ll probably get flamed for this post, as it’s unpopular, but I wanted Anet to hear from both sides of the “issue.”

Let’s face it… you’re awesome! You’re also looking for an equally awesome guild. Well you’re in luck! All the awesome guilds are full and we just so happen to be recruiting instead!

Cherry [BOMB] is a casu-core guild that is building a friendly and laid back community. But when we get down to business, we do it well. We don’t strive for record breaking speed clears or world smashing tournament comps… but we do like to be efficient. We are looking to fill roles for all aspects of the game (Dungeons, Fractals, PvP, WvW); we have very eclectic tastes. Long story short, we are looking to build a community of capable, mature players that get stuff done and have a good time doing it. We consider our home server Henge of Denravi, but we accept members from any server.

We are currently level 15 and call the Gilded Hollow our home. We have all the basic structures, as well as a tier 2 Arena for punching each other in the face when we have down time.

Oh, and we also have a TS server. So we can here each other scream when we punch each other in the Arena.

A simple google search can do wonders Arcaedus. Also in response to your last paragraph, this is completely false. You can be attacked while still avoiding these orbs.

Edit: Look at how close that dude is too, i’d say he’s around 600 units away.

That video is from 2013, way before they increased the projectile speed of the scepter. It’s not nearly as bad as that now.

Proposal Overview: Guild Airship Fleet

Goal of Proposal: Guild Airships have been mentioned before, but I think it’s a unique way to handle guild halls. The goal is to provide something new and interesting to the idea of guild/player housing, while also handling the issue of real estate issue that would come up with making Halls on the ground.

Proposal Functionality: First off, there would be a main Guild Airship to start it all. Depending on the size and wealth of the guild, the size of the airship can vary. Think of something like the main airship from the Bazaar of the Four Winds as one of the bigger models. This would be the central airship for the guild, with merchants and upgrades available like most of the other posts have suggested. The look of this airship is, of course, customizable to the guild leader’s tastes.

What about all the other guild members? What if they don’t like the way the Guild Airship turned out? What if they want to express their creativity also? That is where the Fleet idea comes in. This allows guild members to buy and build smaller airships that would then soar in the sky along with the main Guild Airship. Each guild member could make their own and customize it to their heart’s content. Maybe even make the bosses in the game have a chance to drop trophies that we can hang up as a sign of prestige. Players could travel between airships also, by way of swinging on a rope and jumping onto the next ship, pirate style. Or you could just use jump pads or the lighting jump from dry top, there are many options for airship traversal.

Associated Risks: One issue I can see is bigger guild making hundreds of airships and that taking up a lot of on screen resources. This can be solved by making only a certain numbers of airships visible at a time, and if you want to go to another set of ships, that would be a separate fleet. So the main Guild Airship would always be there, but then like 10 other ships could show up with it at a time. So their could be a fleet 1, fleet 2, fleet 3, etc. that you could choose to go to.

Another issue, what about being in multiple guilds? Would you have to make a separate airship to be in each guilds fleet? Not at all, that’s the beauty of living in a mobile flying fortress of awesome. If you rep a different guild, the flag you fly on your ship changes and your ship will then fly with the new guild. This also addresses the issue of being kicked from a guild. You wouldn’t lose your airship or progress of making one. You would just have to find a guild that has these features unlocked and continue on your way.

How about a “permanent charge” that you apply to a particular item skin, then that skin becomes free to apply across your account? That wouldn’t need to be so rare – it could be a gem-store item for say 300-400 gems? I’d be interested in something like that – especially for novelty/festive skins, that I don’t necessarily want attached to gear all year round.

I actually really like that idea too! Maybe make the cost of one of these be equivalent to 5 of the regular charges. Could also have them as rare drops in BL chests.

Hopefully it will be introduced as a gem store item instead of black lion chests.

I doubt if they ever made it, it would be a straight gem store purchase. It would make buying/trading gold for regular ones pointless, eventually cannibalizing their own product. They would most likely introduce it in BL chests like the other perma items, so most people still have to get regular ones. Also it would boost people getting BL keys.

That’s the only real way I see it going down, if they ever pick up my idea.

Since we have other permanent items like hairstyle kit and bank access, it would be cool to see a perma trans charge that would be a rare drop in bl chests like the others. If they did implement an item like this, I could only see it being in bl chests since Anet wouldn’t want to cannibalize their own trans charge sales.

Commander tag suggestion

Since we are getting a little update to Commander tags in September, I thought I would give a suggestion that I think would be greatly appreciated by all the WvW enthusiasts. This, or something similar, may have been suggested before; but I could not find anything like it in the forums.

So my idea basically is that when someone turns on their Commander tag, a new utility bar would show up (possibly above the current utility bar, and just move the buff/condi bars up a little). This utility bar would be filled with icons for all the siege/traps in the game. A small number would show how many the commander has left, or be dimmed/grayed out if they don’t currently have any of that siege. There could even be a few slots for the EoTM items you can use like the airstrike canisters and such, although I think using it for siege is the best/most useful.

The Commander could just click on the icon he needs at the moment and have it ready to throw out. I think this would be a great quality of life improvement for commanders. This way they can have access to their siege much easier/faster and don’t have to rummage through their bags to get what they need in the heat of battle.

While new colors are definitely nice, I think the community was hoping for more substantial improvements to the Commander system after two years of playing. Especially if the price is being raised by 200g. There are other things I could list that I think would improve the system, but I’ll just share this one for now.

SAB May Never Come Back?

So… they want to focus on the Living World but they forget one very important factor. In real life there are millions of different things happening at once. Just because a dragon is attacking doesn’t mean everyone is going to be involved in that. It’s like telling a chef to put bombs in his cakes because a war just started. SAB is a feature, a feature that already exists and it happens to be one that brings many people happiness. It won’t be hard to throw in what already exists inside a feature pack (something totally separate from the Living World already…).

The very fact that it isn’t involved with the rest of the world is all the reason it should be put back in. It can’t be game breaking in any way, shape or form. All that matters is that people love it, those who dislike don’t matter because it doesn’t affect them at all. This is a huge slap in the face to the loyal players that loved SAB and those who paid for continue coins.

You bring up a very good point. Mordremoth is not stopping the world from turning. They even put it into episodes that the world is functioning, with other issues in the way of all the leaders of all the races. Not everyone in the world is dropping what they are doing and fighting. Yes they realized how big a threat he is by the end of the mid season finale, but that isn’t going to stop the rest of the world from going about their business. The cities will still function, the citizens will still go about their days, so on and so forth.

SAB, while initially an April Fools joke, still functions as a training program for young asurans. There isn’t any reason atm that would stop them training their young; if anything, it’s more reason to do so.

I see no reason why, since we are already getting a break from the LS until the fall, that we can’t get SAB in the mean time. We are already going to be getting Mad King and Wintersday events. If citizens can celebrate those, I don’t see how this can’t fit in as well.

And so, I think it would be very unlikely that you would see it as part of a Living World season release, as to whether or not we come back to it, whether or not in some other form, you know, I can’t really say, I don’t know how likely that is and that is really all I can say about it. We know that there are a ton of people that really enjoyed it, and we had a lot of fun playing portions of it, but it’s difficult to fit in within the narrative structure that we have now and I think that makes it very much less likely that it will appear in a Living World season going forward.
So no sab for now and maybe not later :/ maybe if we express enough interest in it they will reconsider. At the very least i hope they release the old worlds so i can get all the skins for the wardrobe.

They said it would be very unlikely for it to appear during a LS season, yes. BUT, this past episode was the Mid Season Finale, and they are taking a break from the LS until later this fall. This leaves plenty of time to release SAB and not disrupt the narative of the LS, along with holiday events like Mad King.

SAB was released as a back-to-school parody last september, so this would be the perfect time for it to come back. They are probably being coy about the release as he says “he really can’t say.” I have full confidence that it will return before the LS starts back up in the fall.

Legendary Dye

I think it’s a cool idea. As long as it isn’t a matter of 0.00001% chance of acquiring one through an unidentified crafted dye thing. T_T

It might be too much work though, unfortunately. Even if it’s just particle effects, making sure that they don’t look wonky for each armor set may be kind of a chore. I’m not sure what tools they have available for that sort of thing.

Oh yeah, it would be a pain for devs to make, for sure. I doubt they would ever go with the idea, with armor being easier to make. But one can dream.

Legendary Dye

I may/may not have suggested this before. I do think legendary dyes are a possibility in the future, but I know there are some concerns about it.

For one, the game shouldn’t promote everyone looking like disco balls or unicorns. There comes a point where a character has too many special effects.

Yeah, could see that being a problem. Maybe they could gate it, but making certain legendary dyes only craftable after you make its corresponding weapon. Like if I made Twilight, it would unlock the ability to make a Twilight dye. And maybe make it so you could only use one legendary dye at a time. Just some thoughts.

Dyes don’t require transmutation stones.

I know that. I was referring to if it was legendary armor and you wanted to change the look, that would take trans charges. If it was legendary dye, you wouldn’t.

This subject may have come up before. I have not seen a topic on it anywhere in the forums, so I’m making one.

What do you guys think about this? I know people have been suggesting legendary armor for as long as the games been out, but I think the way to go would be legendary dyes.

Think about it. If legendary armor came out, then a ton of people would be clamoring to make this new armor, eventually having a lot of people pretty much looking the same. This is the case with legendary weapons right now, but it doesn’t affect the overall look of a toon as much as armor does. If they did make legendary armor, I’m sure it would have some sort of cool effect, like the weapons do now.

With legendary dyes instead, they could make these effects applicable to any armor you have; without wasting trans charges that would be required if the effects were tied to legendary armor. So for example they could make the effects of Twilight or Sunrise in dye form, and you could apply it to specific pieces and sections of armor. This way people could look epic, but still have the base armor they are wearing look different and can still claim their unique snowflake status.

I know one reason people would like armor is for the possibility of swapping stats, like the weapons do now. While that would be nice, I still think that dye would be a better way to go, since this game is heavily focus on skins and aesthetics.

Nice! I have a similar Hulk. Was looking at making a green eye mask like yours, but I like how the glow stands out.

I also fun hammer mace/mace for maximum smashing!

Some time back I ran into a group in DR doing a Scooby Doo episode. They looked the parts. I have screens … somewhere … but I’m out of time today to page through all my shots trying to track down that set. Perhaps later this week I can get it, along with the chat logs of their ghost hunt.

They have a screenshot of some people in Scooby get-ups on the GW2 facebook page. Might be the same people.

I have that permanent bank actually. All you have to do is put it inside itself when you log off or switch characters then pick it up on the new character you want to use it on. It is account bound after all.

Isnt it a bother to you that after switching, you have to go to a bank again to pick up your permanent bank & items?

With the introduction of account bound legendaries/ascended, we will be sharing items from char to char frequently. Limited slot on-the-fly bank which can be accessed by all of our characters will be a huge convenience.

It’s not a bother for me really. I usually keep my toons logged near banks. If not, I just go to my servers home borderlands for free and walk over to the crafting stations and get it from there.

And yeah, I do believe they want that slight inconvenience there. So that people sink money into items like the airship pass and what-not.

You know how Commanders can see up multiple waypoints and markers on the map for their squad to see? I think it would be handy that the marker wouldn’t only show on the map, but would actually make a color pillar of light (or something along those lines) that show up on the actual terrain for squad-mates to see and have reference for.

Something similar to the way personal and living story markers have, just in different colors so Commanders can coordinate better. I think this would add better functionality that encourages people to join squads more. Not only in WvW fights and defense, but it could help loads with world bosses and setup.

Having a visual such as this I feel would be an improvement over just map markers.

What would be neat (though I doubt it would ever be done, for achievement and loophole reasons) is that if I gave my norn tier 3 armor to my human, the skin would convert to human tier 3, and vice versa. Wild Idea, but interesting. Would save transmutation charges.

Except it’d kinda destroy the Achievements tied to them.

That’s why I put that parentheses comment there mentioning how I doubt it would work because of exactly that. Just an idea.

Yeah, I’m aware how cultural armor works on only it’s race right now lol. I just thought, if they were ever inclined to, that this would be an interesting time to make cultural armor open to others. I’m sure they would that would have been in the post if that was the case, but you never know. Worth a shot lol.

There’s still a second blog-post today (yet to be posted) titled “Removing Restrictions”. There’s a ton of speculation on what it could be floating around the forum, but now that you’ve said that… maybe the restriction could be letting cultural armor be equipped on all races. Who knows.

I was speculating that it might have something to do with condition application and the current cap and how all that works. But hey, maybe we are on to something here!
