Usually, when you have these bulk-of-complaints threats, there will be a point where somebody jumps in and says: “Wait a minute, let us all take a step back from the topic, take a deep breath and look at it objectively…”
The fact that this hasn’t happened yet for almost a thousand posts should be a clear indication that something very bad has been implemented into the game.
Seriously, revert this crap. And send the next paycheck of whoever came up with this idea to children in need.

As a very vocal critic of Living Story season 1, I have to say, I really, really enjoyed this new patch. If this is the kind of quality we can expect from patches in terms of storytelling from now on, I’m really glad I stuck with the game for so long.
Good job, everyone at ANet.

Now I only have a choice of 6 non-WvW, non-sPvP dailies?.

Used to be that you had no choice; you did the 4 given to you and you liked it.

The reason why it was changed from that state was because people didn’t like it.

Exactly. This is one of the few patches I remember that nobody had anything bad to say about. Everybody was happy with the new system. Why revert it back (almost) to the outdated system?

I guess they’re thinking that the “ideal player” will come online, figure that the PvE-dailies will take too much effort and try sPvP or WvW instead. In reality though, those strict PvE players will go online, look at the daily and if they feel that it’s not worth the hustle just log off again.

Seems to me like another failed attempt to get every player engaged with every part of the game. Whatever happened to “play what you want”. It increasingly feels like “play what we want you to want.”

It’s currently the worst it’s ever been.
I remember back in the early days of GW2 you had to aim for one of the stalagmytes and then down into the water and although it was tricky, it would work if only you knew how. Then they fixed the entrance but after the attack on Lion’S Arch it has become a lottery. There are also a lot of broken textures in the general area. Kinda like the whole section was overlooked in testing.

[Spoilers] Trahearne & the Living Story: WTF?

in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

CorneliusCoffin.3169

Technically the pact has no standing army of it’s own. All of pact participants are from the orders. So if the orders need to re-deploy assets to Lions Arch, what makes you think they are going to ask the pact to do it? They don’t need Traherne’s permission or command structure to move their troops in Lions Arch. He probably doesn’t have any experience with civil defense anyways. More than likely, in the attack on lions arch, the orders would have recalled forces from their pact deployments if they determined that they needed more forces in Lions Arch. The pact would already be suffering from a lack of people, so contributing any the few soldiers that remain under their command would be out of the question because they need somebody to watch their forts and outposts.

So much this!
People need to realise that Trahearne is not at the top of the command chain for the pact. As the pact almost exclusively consists of order members, these commands can only be given by Steward Gixx (head of Durmand Priory), Almorra Soulkeeper (leader of the Vigil) or Riel Darkwater (Who is the Master of Whispers).
The pact had no business in Lion’s Arch prior to the attacks and I’m sure the citizens of LA wouldn’t have appreciated them just marching into their city. I’m pretty sure though that there were pact members involved in the evacuation of LA. Trahearne however is the leading expert on the undead, which is why he was in charge for the assault on Zhaitan. As far as I recall there were no undead in Lion’s Arch (this time). So why would the pact call him back from Orr, where obviously his work is still needed?

So uh.

Where’s Canach?
Where’s Mai Trin?

Canach is actually still in custody. He could be seen leaving Lion’s Arch during the evacuation events with a Sheriff. My guess is that he’s being held at the vigil keep.
As to Mai Trin…who knows? To be honest, I found it strange that she wasn’t with Scarlet when Lion’s Arch was attacked. We know that she (and the aetherblades in general) were scared of Scarlet’s antics. The aetherblades were there for the attack. the only reason I can imagine why mai Trin wasn’t there would be that she was specifically ordered not to come.

Official Stance on AFKing?

in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

CorneliusCoffin.3169

Let’s get some definitions straight here.

What is botting?
Botting is using a second-party software that issues commands that are then executed in game so that the user doesn’t have to be physically present and control his or her avatar.

Is AFKing botting?
With that definition in place, no AFKing is not botting, because it doesn’t require a second-party software.

Is auto-running into walls botting?
The same applies here as with AFKing. As long as they are not using second-party software, they are not botting.

Should AFKing or auto-running be bannable reasons
No. At least not on their own. You can not ban people simply for being away from keyboard, Most of the time their AFKing doesn’t even affect other people.
I myself like to afk through the Crab Toss activity, because even after all this time I find it a horrible game (personal taste.) The thing is, just by standing idly by, I’m not spoiling the game for anyone. If at all, it’ll be easier for them, because there’s one less person competing.

Is it okay to report people who are afking or auto-running?
Yes. Absolutely.
AFKing or auto-running won’t keep you logged into the game. People who afk intentionally have to take some measures that keep them logged in the game. These measures would either be coming back to the PC ins regular intervalls and moving their avatar or using an automated program (timed macro) to do it for them. Now the latter case would actually be considered botting.
The point is, there is no way for any player to see whether people who are AFKing excessively are using bots or not. But ANet can see it. And that’s why I think it’s okay to submit reports if you see people afking over a long period of time.

I don’t play a ranger so I’m curious, are we talking about using macros to keep the pet in attack here or is this possible without the use of second-party software? Because if it is, I find the possibility that it could be considered botting outrageous? If it’s botting, then why is it even a game mechanic?

Rate the LS as a whole

CorneliusCoffin.3169

Just give your honest appraisal of how the LS season 1 has been on a scale of 1-10

I would say 7 out of 10

The story taken bit by bit is underwhelming but as a whole it is pretty good. I know saying that sounds flawed but I think that moving at a faster pace could have helped it aloooooot (maybe two arcs over the course of a year).

The combat seemed really poor however with some of the more recent fights I have come to believe that mass numbers combat can be interesting. I am excited to see if anet can overcome the inherent obstacles in the form of combat they have chosen to elect (difficulty coordinating, lag, and griefers).

Finally, implementation these past few patches has been poor. Anet, you have got to find a way to make these patch days run smother.

All in all this first ride of the LS has had high and low points for me. Their have been moments where I sincerely thought this story was going absolutely no place and I am glad that anet has been able to turn the story around. However, I can say that the end still leaves much to be desired. Good experiment run, next season is the real thing and I hope that you leave the MMO world stunned.

Without giving a certain number, I absolutely agree with you there. The story in itself is good. If you go back and read it all in one sitting, it’s actually not that bad. The main problem, I think was, that we only ever got 5-10 Minutes of the story (or say 1 plot point) every two or four weeks over the course of 1.5 years. It was like you just read one chapter of a book and then put it aside for 2 weeks to read one more chapter and put it aside again. It’s not just incredibly slow paced, it also leaves you with enough time to ponder about all possibilities and (even worse) all the flaws of the story. Whenever you read a good book or watch a good movie, it sucks you right into the story so bad that you hardly have time to actually process all of it and very often the pacing makes you overlook all the little flaws a story might have. And it also leaves you enough time to correctly predict the ending of the story 5 months in advance. I know the devs are now arguing that people didn’t predict Mordremoth and didn’t predict the attack on Lion’s Arch, but the real surprise should have been the arrival of the elder dragon, and not that it was Mordremoth instead of Primordus and that Lion’s Arch was under attack yet again (after it was attacked by the undead (in the personal story), Mad King Thorn, the karka and the aetherblades (at Dragon Bash and when they freed Mai Trin)) Lion’s Arch is number 1 on the “1000 places you need to attack to be a super-villain” list.

Now, I’m not sayin that they should tighten their schedule. Just take some bigger breaks and release more plot…way more plot in a single update.

That explains pretty much… nothing. We all came to the conclusion her goal was the dragon before. The real question is: why?

I’ve raised this in another thread in the lore section: Was her goal really the dragon (singular) or rather the dragons?
Remember how Scarlet set up probe-nodes all over Tyria and only the one in Lion’s Arch returned a positive result? She clearly wasn’t just looking for a ley line there. If this was just about re-channeling some of the magic towards Mordremoth, she could have drilled at the Thaumanova reactor, where she knew (as was shown in the Thaumanova Fractal) there was an intersection of leylines. There’s something special about the magic underneath Lions Arch and her schematics along with the fact that it was the only probe reacting seem to indicate that it’s probably the highest concentration of magic in Tyria (and the mists).
If this is true, whatever she does to that magic is bound to have an effect on all the elder dragons and not just Mordemoth. I’m not saying they’re all affected by it in the same way but whatever Scarlet intends to do in Lions Acrh means less magic to consume at least for Kralkatorik, Primordus, Jormag and Bubbles. (Which I think might either cause them to attack or – in a weird turn of events – go back to sleep.)

Why rush LS content in 2 weeks?

in Living World

Posted by: CorneliusCoffin.3169

CorneliusCoffin.3169

You are making a big mistake here.
You are assuming they only work on stuff for 2 weeks and then releases it.

That is not the case. They have closer to four months for each update (due to having multiple teams working at the same time on different releases).

You are also very selective when it comes to your memory of GW1, there were quite a bit of bugs there as well, some that took years to fix, and some that still aren’t fixed.

The main thing is that no matter how long time you develop and/or test something, there is always a risk of something slipping through. Especially considering the fact that a test environment is not identical to a live one.

The problem remains the same, you just found a different way to look at it. It doesn’t matter if it’s the time frame that gets shortened or the number of people working on a release. If you have only a quarter of the team working on a release, that means they’ll probably need 4 times as much time to deliver the same kind of content (both in terms of quality and quantity) as you would get from the entire team. You can’t just split the team into 4 teams and expect them to come up with the same results as before in the same time period. Whether you call that a time problem or a manpower-problem in the end is just a matter of perspective.

I have a problem with this whole “Scarlet wants to intrrupt the leylines to wake up Modremoth”-theory.
It’s that in the Thaumanova Reactor Fractal she says:

At least they helped identify the network of magical channels that crisscross the globe. That was a breakthrough. Now we know how NOT to do this kind of research right on an intersection of those channels.

This is something I never really understood. Scarlett basically knew that there was an intersection of ley lines beneath thaumanova reactor. If she wanted to simply disrupt them, why not just drill there? Especially since they seem to be fairly close to Modremoth’s estimated location. From the schemematic on the wall inside of the breachmaker it seems, however, that her intention was to find the “center” of the ley lines. (which could either be where they all meet or where they all originate.) I’m not an expert on dragon magic but wouldn’t that mean that all of the elder dragons get affected by her drilling there?

Maybe it was an intersection of the wrong leylines?

Which is exactly my point.
There were six elder dragons. Wit Zhaitan being dead, we now have five of them left. , Kralkatorik is somewhere between Elona and the Crysal Desert. Jormag is in the Far Shiverpeaks, Primordus is still somewhere underground and we don’t exactly know where and “Bubbles” is said to be somewhere in the unending ocean. If there are intersecting leylines somewhere in the Maguma Jungle region, they’re most certainly leading to Mordremoth. If Scarlet just wanted to disrupt the ley lines leading to Mordremoth, she could have done it right there.
However, for whatever reason, she had to disrupt the ley lines right where they converge. No matter if she intends to simply disrupt or recalibrate the flow of magic from there, it’s got to have an impact on all the remaining elder dragons, not just one.

Whether all that is going to be true remains to be seen (although I pretty much agree with you for the most part.)
The whole “one in a million has guessed it right” statement, however was about the end of the living story, which turns out to be the awakening of an elder dragon and hence the ending that everyone and their mother expected since we first heared Scarlet mentioning the ley lines.

A Human found a seed in a Wurm cave. He planted the seed at his family grave. Ventari wrote a tablet with beliefs.

This ’’cured’’ the Pale Tree and the future Sylvari for being dragon minions.

In the future, Ceara experimented around, and entered Omadd’s machine. This machine returned Ceara to what she truly was, and what every Sylvari is, a dragon minion.

Ceara, now named Scarlet, wanted to awake its Master.

Mordremoth is now awake.

Not entirely sure about the “cured” part. I think the pale tree knows fairly what it is and it has made the active decision to lock that part of the Sylvaris shared experience out of the dream. We do know after all, that a dragon’s champion may choose to fight its master (—> Glint). All Omadd’s machine did was to give Scarlett access to this part of her subconscious.

They answered most of those questions in her secret lair and in the investigation instance a couple patches ago. The only question left unanswered is what she saw in her vision that drove her to her plan. That was answered at the end of the cut scene.

I actually knew very little about the dragon until recently. Also, people have wanted a link to the elder dragons and existing lore, and now that it’s confirmed it was connected all along, people still complain?

No, that’s not enitrely correct. People wanted elder dragons instead of Scarlet. This now, at least to me, felt like they were throwing the dragon in order to get people to like their living story.
I also distinctly remember that the devs used to say that some people were already correctly predicting the end of the Living Story, but the majority was guessing wrong and only a slight percentage had guessed the correct ending. This statement was made at a point (after the “Fractured” update) where pretty much 90% of the forums were guesisng “dragons” because of the leylines and such.
Finally, it’s also probably a pacing issue with the Living Story why it feels so anti-climatic. Said “Fractured” update was in November. In terms of story-conetnt updates, it’s probably just 5 or 6 chapters of the living story, but in terms of time it’s been almost 4 months that the majority of the people have correctly predicted the ending of the Living Story. If these final 5 or 6 chapters had been told in a quicker succession (and I’m not talking weekly releases, but maybe bigger content releases, less frequently), this problem wouldn’t have been so evident, I guess.

There shouldn’t be any loot for standing around. The real problem here isn’t that people are afk, the problem is that they are rewarded for it. It’s actually encouraging that kind of behaviour.

There’s also little sense in talking reason to those people, because if they had that in them they’d wait for 100 people rescued and then join a new overflow. That way you’ they’d get at least twice the amount of bags they currently do for standing around.

To be honest though, even that last kill on Deso, wasn’t a real Deso-kill, but more of an [NiP] guild kill. There are still a lot of people on Deso who majorly contributed to anyone being able to kill the wurm at all, who didn’t get their title yesterday. I’m gonna stand by my opinion. Yes, the wurms will be killed again, eventually, but people who have done it in the past are deserving of a title that is handed out for slaying the wurm and not for “you’ve done it once, you can do it again”

First of all I’d like to publically retract my statement that a guild I knew of was still using an “exploit” mechanism to kill the wurm. I’ve been assured that I was wrong and have eddited my post acordingly.

That being said:

I disagree with those who think they should get this title retroactively. It’s a new title, just go kill it again. You are too busy farming bags in LA? Then that is a decision you’ll have to make. However, the wurm isn’t going anywhere. It’s still being killed plenty, do some research and find out who and when it’s being killed.

I can only repeat what’s been said before, please stop trivilazing the wurm kill. It’s not something that’s in anyone person’s hand, because you need about 120 organized people. If only a fraction of those decides that they are no longer interested in the wurm, that’s bascially a “screw you” to the rest of those who originally killed the wurm. The only ones who are still consistently killing it are 3 guilds. Guilds who, still as far as I know, aren’t currently accepting new members. Yeah, we’ll probably do it again eventually. Still it would be fair to award the title to those who already did it. (And I am now actually speaking from a position where I did repeat the kill and do have the title, but still I think it’s unfair that those of us who couldn’t be there today or weren’t there for the kill but actually paved the way do not have the title now. Saying those people are undeserving of that title is actually really ungrateful).

My guild and I have done it (twice in a row), I’m sure Deso can too.

Deso seems to have completely given up on Wurm. There’s been no attempt since the Living Story update.

Yeah. It’s not the servers who are getting the kills, it’s guilds guesting on empty servers. And only 2 or 3 of them, none of which, afaik, currently accepting members. And at least one of them is still abusing a mechanic that we’re expecting to be patched in the future (I was made aware that this wasn’t actually the case and would like to apologize for this statement).
Don’t get me wrong, it’s nice for these people to have figured it out, but it’s not getting us anywhere closer to the wurm being on farm mode.

Not trying to justify anything here. I wasn’t at the world’s first wurm kill, so I really don’t care if you or Deso get it. But if you want that title to be worth anything, it should be given to Deso, if not by ANet then at least inofficially by the community.

Also, we still don’t know if it’s going to be awarded retroactively, since there’s been no official statement from anyone at ArenaNet yet.

Most of groups doing the Wurm event can down 2 of 3 heads (or very close to it) in an average run, with the last head’s HP below 10 to 20%. Before it was an adventure just getting to the 2nd phase. Once we discover the sweet spot strategy for all three heads, it’ll be farmable.

This is simply not true. Most of the groups who are doing the wurm still have trouble getting into 2nd phase on a consistent level. There’s only one giant guild (with several sub-guilds) and 2 or 3 servers who get to 2nd phase consistently, although even there you still get the occasional fail in the first phase.

Don’t overlook the determination of players who really want that kill.

I know you’re right but at the same time that determination has taken a blow with each and every update. People have called for the 2nd phase of the wurm to be made easier, just a little (whether that’s through additional time or a HP-tweak or simply fixing the bug where the head goes invulnerable for more than 5 seconds.) Instead every patch and every hotfix has made the encounter harder and less predcitable. I don’t know about the other servers but today was the first day on Deso without a single coordinated attempt at the wurm. It’s little things like this, a simple title not being awarded retroactively that make experienced players give up the content altogether because they feel like their effort is not being appreciated by the devolper. And as a result, everyone who wants to kill the wurm now will have to start from scratch.

There’s a lot of Captains that have nothing to do with the running of Lion’s Arch, so we can’t assume it’s one of the Captains’ Council just because of the name.

And how many of those would you say would get the permission to anchor their airship at the Vigil’s keep?

The Wurm will be in farm mode within months, so there’s no real need to have this title given retroactively. I say this because I foresee many possible problems trying to give us credit from past kills. WvW chests are a good example of the potential problems. So instead of fighting to get past credit, just put that energy into fighting the Wurm again.

No it won’t neither the tequatl as people said at that time!

Well, Teq sorta is. The difference is that Tequatl only needs a coordinated effort by 20-40 people (i.e. the cannons and the def-teams) while the rest can basically faceroll the entire event. Now the wurm is a completely different story. Unless there’s a massive nerf incoming at some point, this event won’t ever….ever be on farmstatus. Especially not with Living Story content happening in the same map.

If he could, then why didn’t he do so?

I can’t quite follow you there. Evon never sold things directly. Now he does, so that makes sense? Please elaborate.

He is selling stuff now because he was ordered to do it by the Lionguard. If he had not they would basically have executed him (they actually say it to him directly. Either he becomes a quartermaster, or they will hang him).

Oh, that’s nice then. Thanks for clearing that up. I’ll go check it out because I must have missed that.
Sometimes it’s really quite usefull to let off some steam on thess forums, if only to be told that you haven’t been paying enough attention. ^^

Commander Tag Zerg

Commander tags should be removed from the game IMO. They are a major contributing factor to why zerging happens so much in large events. People load into a map and directly run towards the commander tags. It prevents groups from forming organically and takes away a sense of exploration.

This event is a great example of how the tags are hurting the intended gameplay. I’m sure not everyone will agree, but I do think the commander tags hurt the game more than they help.

Just out of curiosity, have you ever tried the marionette (or the three headed jungle wurm) without any commander tags? The ammount of fail is simply overwhelming when “groups form organically”.

I attempted to find anything interesting near the drill… I don’t recommend it. It’s sharp.

Is it really? I swam right done into the drilling hole expecting to get killed and didn’t. It lookes dangerous but it doesn’t really seem to do any damage.

I am in a large, organsed guild still doing this event. Personally, I was missing some kegs at Cobalt and the Amber head phase 2 kill for the meta.

With the changes, I should have the kegs (had 11 kegs already done, will check when next in-game), so only the Amber head kill left to complete the meta. This should give me two titles, if I understand the changes correctly.

As for Bloodtide map, we often use overflow and ‘taxi’ for this event to avoid pugs, so not a big deal for us. However, it will be big problem for some not so well organised servers trying to do this event over the next two weeks.

No, actually the meta is just going to award you the title “Great Jungel Wurm Slayer”, as it always did. So for the meta, nothing has actually changed, except for the number of delivered kegs needed.

As to the overflow question, I wasn’t even talking about mains servers there. With the living story happening on that map it’s going to be literally impossible to get anything organized going on a main map. But even the overflow seems to be next to impossible because once the main map is full, everyone is going to be redirected to those overflows, pugs as well as organized groups. The thing that has changed from previous weeks though is that the demand for pugs to actually be on that map has massively increased due to it being one of the three entrances to the Lions Arch LS-content. You’d probably have to set up an overflow 3-4 hours prior to attempting the wurm in order to get it hardcapped only with people who are going to do the wurm and hence keeping random people out.
In terms of developement this seems to me like a typical case of when the right hand doesn’t know what the left hand is doing. As in, one LS-team gives us content that requires at least 120 coordinated people on a map and four weeks later another LS-team uses the same map as a que for their content. Of course I don’t work at ArenaNet, but it does seem like the communication between the individual Living Story teams could definitely be better.

Either way, i opened a ticket with the support to get my title, let’s see how that plays out. I do have a screenshot to prove that i was there and I should get my Wurm’s Bane title.

I’m kinda suprised how little “nerdrage” the current update is causing with people still doing the wurm, especially the part where people need to gather in Bloodtide Coast in order to get to Lion’s Arch, which is going to make all future efforts to collect 150 coordinated people for the wurm in the same map almost impossible in the coming 2 weeks.
Either people haven’t noticed yet, or they simply do not care any more. .

Evon is standing right next to several trading post merchants. He never sold things directly, so that makes sense.

I can’t quite follow you there. Evon never sold things directly. Now he does, so that makes sense? Please elaborate.

In lore, the attack did come out of the blue. Marjory, Kiel, and etc. tried to warn the council but were met with no success, extended from the last patch.

Yeah, I know this has been said in the last patch. It didn’t even make sense back then, considering there was a probe in the middle of Lion’s Arch, a giant marionette in Lornar’s Pass and a three headed jungle wum in Bloodtide Coast, which by the way is directly in front of Lion’s Arch’s gates. That giant toxic plant in Kessex Hills, the attack on Queen Jennah’s jubilee and the watchwork attacks on basically all maps of the game, those aren’t warning signs? Seriously, who are these merchants in Lions Arch trading with that they don’t get to know what’s happening everywhere in Tyria? Worst of all, there’s been an aetherblade attack directly on Lion’s Arch in the process of which the pirate captain Mai Trin was freed merely four weeks ago. That was visible for everyone in Lions Arch because she was on public display in Fort Marinner. Still, that’s no warning sign?
Any ou know, not being prepared, that’s just one thing. But mainting that “Come to think about it, there really have been no warning signs”-attitude even after the attacks have happened, that’s just plain silly.

Well, there’s lots of small pieces of lore in all the refugee camps. If you go there, you’ll find a lot of familiar faces from Lion’s Arch and they’ll tell you what exactly happend to them (although that rarely goes beyond “oh my god, it’s all gone, I lost everything, what am i gonna do now?”)
A lot of it, I find slighty confusing. Like, why is Commodore Lawson Mariner degraded to a simple merchant? Why isn’t Evon Gnashblade selling his stuff through the Blacklion’s tradepost?
And why do people in the refugee camps keep insisting that Scarlet’s attack came totally out of the blue?

As far as I am aware to get the Great Jungle Wurm Slayer title you do not need to kill the wurm as none of the current achievements require a kill.

I have attempted loads of times and the only thing I’m missing is slaying the crimson head, so once that is done i will have my title even if the other heads are not slayed.

The new achievement requires an actual kill as far as I’m aware, which is fair. This gets you a new title, the Jungle wurm slayer is not taken away. So i dont see the problem here at all.
Plus if you read carefully it specifies that the new achievement does not count towards the meta achievement for wurm which means those who want the slayer title will still have to do all the others.
The only thing they changed is the keg achievement as far as I’m aware (from descriptions) and most people will be grateful for that and maybe there won’t be so many players camping for cobalt. So it is just as hard to get imo.

I don’t think you understand what i’m saying. I don’t want everyone who has the title of “Great Jungle Wurm Slayer” to autmotically be upgraded to “Wurm’s Bane”.
But there are people who have succesfully killed the wurm (as in: done what is required for the title) who are now not rewarded with the proper title. People who have not just killed all three heads individually but actually completed the entire event.

As to the repeatability of those kills. Good luck with that, now that part of the Living Story requires people to wait in the exact same map the three-headed wurm spawns.

If you killed it before, you can kill it again.

There’s a reason they added this Achievement. Some people with the Great Jungle Wurm Slayer title can get it without necessarily slaying the Wurm.

No…actually that’s exactly what the new title is about. Slaying the wurm.

After having patched, I can now see that it’s not awarded retroactively
This is now the second time wtihin about a week that we’re being told that whatever progress we made with the wurm is null and void.
I know this won’t probably cause a big uproar, due to the comparatively low amount of players being effected, but I really don’t think this is a nice way of treating the most die-hard amongst the PvE-players.

If you can do it once you can do it again.

Fair enough, but that really isn’t the point here. Personally, I’m still doing the wurm encounter despite having a tripple-head kill to my name and you’re probably right that I’ll probably get to kill it again sometime.
But I’m definitely not going to invest the same time into the wurm anymore that I’ve invested before I’ve got that kill and I know that a lot of players who did the wurm the first 4 weeks feel the same way.
It would simply be nice to award the players who have more or less beta-tested that thing for Arena-Net over the past 4 weeks with a bit of appreciation.

The portals being active or inactive most likely has to do with the person’s graphic settings. I remember being asked by a guild member whether those portals have always been active (he even sent me a screenshot from his PC to prove they were) but when I stood next to them on the same server they appeared inactive for me.

Where the new hub should have been...

CorneliusCoffin.3169

I would jab out my own eyes before using Southsun as a hub. The Southsun zone like Orr are designed to make the simple act of character movement tedious and incredibly annoying under the excuse of being ‘challenging’. Any hub would have to break this design, in which case I could then see using it as a hub. My suggestion would be another asura reactor explosion that killed every wretched mob on the island.

Not sure if something as big as that would even be neccesary. At least in theory, the karka on Southsun Cove should be on retreat ever since their queen was killed and the settlements have been cleansed of the whatever essence it was that Canach had spread there.

Why do people think LA will be rebuilt?

in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

Posted by: CorneliusCoffin.3169

CorneliusCoffin.3169

The one main reason why I think Lion’s Arch won’t be permanently destroyed are
seasonal events

Whether it’s Dragon Bash, Wintersday or Halloween, these events all centered around festivities in Lion’s Arch. ANet developers have stated in the past, that they are planning to leave these festivities as they are, in order to give them the time and resources to work on bigger content updates. Having Lion’s Arch completely destroyed would mean that these event’s would have to be completely re-worked.
So my prediction is that Lion’s Arch will stand again by mid-june.

Does the Wurm have any longevity?

Well, two weeks of research into the wurms mechanics by a couple of hundred determined players have culminated in the realization that possibly all the succesful attempts so far were caused by a bug that nobody was even aware of until two days ago. Nonetheless, all the servers/guilds who have managed to get a wurm kill are now widely regarded exploiters by the community and are now being monitored by ANet Developers.
Although I already have the meta achievment, I still like to do the event. But to be honest, I’m quite tired of how some of the most dedicated players in the game are being treated. I know of many wurm-regulars who feel the same way, which is why at the moment, if the communication doesn’t start to improve and there isn’t a huge fix incoming, I feel like the wurm will be deserted in a week or two.
