Guys, it is rare for a representative of the company to give us any kind of information about what may be coming up as far as changes, tweaks , buffs and nerfs. This is why. People set expectations way to high and begin frothing at the mouth (or I guess the fingers) when what comes to pass falls shy of those expectations.

After the full blown meltdown some people seem to have had, why would they ever want to slip us tidbits of info again? You were given some vague information and some hints of things to come and expanded on it significantly. This is why it is rare to see communication from community reps that give you any direct information. We have behaved ridiculously here. I will honestly be surprise if anyone tries to slip us anything other than ‘good things are coming EVENTUALLY’ based on the over the top reaction already exhibited here.

despite the beating we got i pvp’d 6-7hrs everyday and had some good fights .

I get the feeling Yak’s will spring back, you guys have some great core guilds. You guys may have a couple people that come to these forums and act like jerks, so do we, but they dont represent our servers as a whole. I get the feeling that your opponents in this next matchup are going to have some pent up frustration forcibly carved into their skulls from you guys. Good luck.

I get the feeling that after this week, Yak’s is going to come back with a VENGEANCE next week. Out of all the servers we have fought against they are one of the ones I have the most respect for. I look forward to seeing what the resets bring.

Regarding the talk of the new guilds that came to SoR, im personally glad to see more folks around. I think anyone should be given a fair shot at being a part of the community without being looked down on as ‘those kitten transfers’ I know there are a couple fair weather guilds that came along too, but those will probably move on to the next server as soon as we bite off more than we can chew.

People like the [HAND] and [TW] guilds are great examples of the kind of guilds we love to see join us. They appear to have their kitten together in WvWvW, and every person ive seen posting in these forums under their tag has been respectful, and generally cool. These are the kind of people SoR wants to see stick around in my opinion.

I agree that the spawn camping is lame. Spawn camping with siege is even worse. WvWvW is my main reason for playing this game. being locked out of it sucks. I havent even been in it this week, pretty kitten anxious for this reset to happen as well. I hope everyone has a better matchup.

I dont think VIG was a transfer because I recall seeing them before in matches. Some of our best pvp guilds that I have seen have been FL, VIG, FMC,EPIC, LUN (Transfers, but they get things done) There are a couple others I may be forgetting at this moment, but I also feel like GSCH does pretty well too, were just only out in force a few nights a week. I feel like we have a really solid core of guilds. Ive only mentioned the few guilds ive had some personal experiance with, I am sure there are others out there kicking kitten as well.

Thank you everyone for the feedback, I looked at the video today and realized that it wasn’t really all that good. It was pretty shotty work that didn’t demonstrate how the build actually functions, the entire video was pretty much an annoying mess of my rambling and unfunny jokes that just made me come off as kitteny. But this doesn’t mean that I’m just quitting, I’m going to redo the video with much more detail and a bit less stupidity, in depth guides within the post itself explaining the stats and strategies behind the build, and situations that it excels in and situations that it doesn’t do good at all in. I deleted the video off my channel, and there should be a new guide out by tomorrow. After using a minion build for a week in tournament play and in hot-join pvp, I know that it is viable, I just need to explain how it is. Expect a post soon that will be much better than this, and I apologize for this one, I can do better and you should expect better.

Awesome. Just give yourself a outline of stuff to speak about. you seem to do well at keeping up a good flow of conversation, just less over the top silly, more demonstration/explanation with your humor mixed in would be more welcome. Look forward to seeing your next vid.

SoR player here. Just wanted to comment on the current matchup. It is hard to come back from this kind of thing, and really that has everything to do with the way WvWvW is designed. with everything highly upgraded and at full supply, with all the supply camps camped/dominated, it is almost impossible to come back from a situation like this. I really dont like that. I would love to see you guys rally and beat us down to our last keep. I like to see all sides having fun like some of the previous matchups. We have been in this situation before too, and it is just demoralizing. You get in, you cant run anywhere, and there is hardly any allies because no one wants to stick around to get spawn camped. Rallying at this point logistically seems next to impossible.

I guess I just wanted to say, weve been there, it sucks. It has nothing to do with the quality of guilds on your server. Once youve been put in this position it is very very hard to get out of it. The outmanned buff only buffs your ability to PvE. It would be nice if we could reach a gentleman’s agreement where you take back a tower each in each of your various borderlands. as well as a supply camp, that would at least get you a foot hold and permit us to fight on more even ground. I really dont know how we’d go about reasonably organizing such a thing. I hope everyone has a better matchup next week. Also hope to see you guys rally and knock us on our kitten if possible.

Also, wanted to add that ive seen ToG in a few different games now (last I saw you was in darkfall) You guys always seem like a pretty cool group. Kinda neat running into you guys again. Keep on kicking kitten

I agree. long bow does need some love. On it’s own, it is an awesome weapon. Some traits to compliment a style that focuses on the long bow would be quite nifty.

The amazing thing is, I play my necro in game, in spvp, etc, and have a blast. I do quite well in whichever role ive chosen and just generally have fun. PvE is easy, even WvWvW is fun on my necro.

Yet when I come here, apperantly according to a vocal group here I should not be having fun. That my experiance must be made up in my head because the necro is so fundamentally broken that people are dying to rabbits and other critters. I browse a lot of other class forums too. Every one of them has people like this, complaints about how woefully underpowered their class is. The necro has bugs, yes. Several actually. So do other classes. Balancing is a delicate thing. If Anet listened to each community here then the balance between classes would be so far askew that it would be hilarious.

Guys, quit being so kitten entitled about this kitten. If you dont like the class, there are 7 others to play. No class is going to be the best at everything. Play to your strengths, and quit whining about your weaknesses.

I hope you don’t mind an attempt at constructive criticism for your commentating style? I will start with the stuff I liked.

No dead air, you consistantly kept speaking/narrating without allowing for much ‘down’ time.
Very little ‘filler’ words like ‘um, er, uh’ etc. that drives me nuts.
Funny at times.
You played your necro well, in my opinion. Which is difficult when you are concentrating on commenting as well.

Needs improvement:
You try a bit too hard, You seem to try to immitate a few different folks here. Closest I would say would be Tobuscus or however it is spelled. Consider how to bring out more of yourself, rather than immitating other popular youtube personalities.

The attempts at constant sillyness were a bit grating. Mix in some serious narration so the humor actually stands out more. Maybe explain a bit about what you are doing and why, your gameplan for that particular match, or something. Try to be both informative and funny. You had me chuckling a couple different times, but other times it was simply annoying.

Hope this helps, not trying to be a jerk. The build itself is pretty interesting, and I may give it a shot on my necro.

If you want something that feels a bit over powered at low levels, Try a GS/axe+axe combo. PVE mobs will melt before your fury.

Just hear me out, ok?

Listen, first of all, the longbow is awesome in WvWvW. With the traits I have selected, you will be able to use your burst ability almost every time it is up from cooldown. This lays down a huge fire field that combos great with your other shots.

Arcing arrow: shoot this as soon as youve launched the combustion arrow and they will hit very close together. This hurts. A LOT.

Smoldering arrow: Due to the arc travel time, by the time the GCD is done for arcing arrow and you fire this sucker off, it will impact very close to the impact time of the arcing arrow. more aoe pain.

Finally, just follow up with fan of fire, because fire is cool.

The adrenaline you’re getting back from all this, as long as everything is hitting, means that your maybe 2-4 auto attacks away from having your initial burst refilled. This gives you ridiculous AOE damage. The primary problem is I could not spare the traits to grab the increased range. Basic concept is get in range, drop your AOE and use your GS mobility to get back out, recover a bit and do it again.

The greatsword. much maligned as a newb weapon, but I feel that is primarily because people get too focused on building around HB. Kitten that. The primary asset in my opinion is its mobility. You can get in and out of fights at your whim. With the trait setup ive selected, you can not be easily slowed or stopped. your auto attacks hit pretty decently hard. even if you only catch folks in your HB for a few seconds, it still dishes decent damage, and bladetrail is nothing to sneeze at either. (Unless you are allergic to awesome)

When you’re in melee mode, you’re keeping your adren bar full. that means 12% extra damage and 9% more crit. Since you already have another 10% damage from traits, and an extra 50% crit damage, you will be hitting like a truck. A large, angry stabby truck.

As a side note: I really want to be able to grab that increased longbow range trait but I would lose one of the following to take it:
100 precision, 20% reduced GS cooldown, and might on crit and burst skills increasing end.
or
100 power, 10% GS damage and increased burst crit
OR
10% crit damage, reduced burst cost, might on weapon swap.

The final one seems like the most reasonable choice, but losing that crit damage and reduced burst cost reduces the amount of aoe I can put out with the bow, and a bit of the oomf behind my facecrits.

Thoughts/suggestions?

(Current build is axe/warhorn + rifle, is awesome but theorycrafting this at work makes me wanna crit things in the face)

On a serious note impressive gameplay, length as others have stated a bit much which makes it feel like it drags on a little and the whole ‘montage’ thing was really a waste of space and not entertaining at all even though i could see what you were trying to accomplish I and I’m sure many others simply ended skipping it.

Huge props to Foo and the Yak’s bend community for their response to the orb hacking.
I love matchups like this where it is a huge 3 way struggle with all three sides struggling for top position.

I really enjoyed this. cracked up when ‘push it to the limit’ started playing for the montage. Enjoyed the music selection, the video, etc. well done. The necro pvp segment did run a bit long. By itself it woulnt have been too long, but with the initial story with the thief and the montage it pushes the limits.

if you think about it, the GW2 engineer pulls aspects from more than half of the TF2 classes though
Engineer, pyro, and demoman, obvious.
scout – were the only class that can very easily have perma swiftness
medic – healing turret, elixer gun, etc.
soldier. rocket turret + rocket belt + rifle is actually a friggen shotgun most of the time

heavy – nope
sniper – nope
spy – nope

Chill down a bit guys. Calm out. I kind of hope we continue to have each other as opponents, simply because I feel that none of us have a distinct advantage over the other. There is a bit of a difference in prime times, that is fine. All I care about at the end of it all is the pvp. With this match up we have each server holding their own quite well, and no one seems to really take a significant point lead over the other.

I would like to see how our tactics evolve from this. SoR has had some epic battles against both sides. I hope our servers get paired at least one more time, give everyone a chance to vie for the top position.

I am on SoR, with Gaiscioch. Had a blast fighting SF and DH in the DH borderlands last night. both sides put up an awesome fight. I disagree with the stance that DH only thrives on night capping. We fought them head on in multiple skirmishes and they did quite well. Dreaming bay and red garrison changed hands so fast I dont think any side had the chance to consider upgrading em. Just wanted to thank both sides for a great fight.

I agree, necro’s need something like ‘disease’ or a ghostly/spectral fire damage type. confusion is pretty heavily associated with mesmers, i’d like to see a new DoT type associated with necros.

I dont need a over priced mouse to be able to fully utilize all of my skills. GW2 is one mmo where ive had the fewest keybinds.

I use my mb 5 for loot, mb 4 for autorun, ztrl mb5 for about face, and a few other things here and there. I can easily have room for a couple more skill bars using modifiers. You just have to be smart about your binds.

forice, I can’t see the quote button either. However, I notice right when you get your size increase you also get an array of buffs. I think that it is from a tossed elixer from an engineer. Quite possible you just have not run into that particular elixer buff before.

I like to avoid the really popular specs and go with something that isnt seen as often. means that if a nerf hits i am less likely to be affected. Seriously considering a dual pistol/shortbow thief now. lol

Have you actually used the skill?

The change makes it so that you can control whether or not you want to teleport back to where you started from, and when. That is a huge upgrade in functionality. I have no idea how this change to that skill could even be perceived as a nerf. Please explain.

First, I primarily play for WvW, I just love that gameplay. At the moment I have a warrior running sword and board + axe/mace. Usually, if something gets in melee range I am going to chew it up and spit it out. However, I ran into this one thief that was friggen all over the place.

I tried to stay mobile and swat at the air when he stealthed. The fight itself just looked kitten. This dude was popping in and out of stealth left and right, dodging away and generally keeping just out of range. I managed to catch em with a good combo, and I think I got some hits in while he was stealthed, the fight ended with me down and stomped pretty quickly. This guy was the first thief ive seen played really well, and just looked like a total kitten throughout the whole fight. I am torn between my necro, engineer, and thief.

I am primarily wondering what big issues you guys tend to face at 80, every class seems to have some. I was also wondering if there is a viable dual pistol + shortbow build out there? seems like it would be a bit unconventional and interesting.

Yeah, check it out. Make sure to check at the video card connection, as a HDMI to DVI adapter will also say HDMI output.

I know what you mean about the monitor drivers, some don’t have any. Most big name brands will though. It is worth looking into actually.

I hope you can get it fixed for her. I know the frustration of not being able to play a game that I so enjoy.

Guess that will be the first thing I check when I get home is monitor drivers, and see what is going on with her vid cabling. I hope I don’t have to redo anything with that. With her desk/comp setup it is a PITA, heh.

Well that was a spiffy video. Makes me think I should go ahead and make my engy my second 80.

nimrod, strangely, I could swear she is using a DVI connection as well, I may need to investigate that. As far as I know, our specific monitors didnt really have driver software for them, I could google their model and see.

Delta, I may have to try that there are just some logistics that will make that very difficult. (currently a pretty fair amount of distance between the two machines.)
