I absolutely loved the Halloween event, I completed everything and was terribly sad to see it end. Wintersday feels really forgettable to me, there really isn’t much to it. The PvP mode was okay for a bit but became boring quickly, I enjoyed the bell event quite a bit since I’m a Guitar Hero fan, and the JP was pathetically easy to master. As for Tixx’s “dungeons”, they were all pretty repetitive and lost their appeal rapidly.
I pulled all nighters to enjoy as much of Halloween as I could, I completed all the Wintersday achievements and haven’t bothered with the event since I completed Toypocalypse (my final achievement).

Perhaps a recent FotM player can enlighten us on whether or not the scale increases at Jade Maw or AFTER IT!
No more than 15 minutes ago I was awarded an ordinary ascended ring for the completion of Fractal 24. Also, moments before completion, one of my party members found a Coagulated essence.
In conclusion, I believe this system only applies to 26 and beyond.
The only thing that’s puzzling me, at this point, is the challenge-seekers who are soundly against difficulty levels because they don’t want people lacking their particular skill being able to enjoy part of the event.
Not really. I’m not against it. Just don’t see the point of it.
If you create easy/hard modes for example. People will still complain that hard mode is too hard and it’s unfair they cannot get the better reward because they cannot do it.
^ Give’em an inch and they’ll take a mile. I agree wholeheartedly with Azure and honestly, this is just the beginning of the “Silver Platter Crusade” in GW2. You guys have won in numerous other MMO arenas, I pray you meet some reality checking resistance from ANet.
I’ve gotten a couple skins, an exotic recipe, some normal choir bells, handful of flawless snowflakes, and a bunch of ugly sweaters.
I’ve opened roughly 30-40, you sound like you have terrible luck. :\
I don’t understand why Necromancers can create wells to Chill you or why Mesmers can still create clones.
I finished this achievement and was awarded credit whenever I downed an enemy player carrying the gift.
I won’t be surprised to see this at all. I was with a guy who played Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Deck the Halls, and some other Christmas song in between rounds… it was pretty cool.
Anyway, can’t wait to see the results.
Must be nice to not suck at games.
It is pretty nice considering it’s a major hobby, lol. Keep at it though and as odd as this sounds, take your time. You don’t need to be nearly as fast in this one as you did with Clocktower… honestly the most difficult part was the snowflakes, once you hit the hard candies it’s pretty simple.
[PUGS] is a brand spankin’ new guild and we’re looking for new members to fill out our ranks. Not only are they refusing to even so much as comment on the fiasco, but they are using the fact we have to play FotM to keep up with the gear grind as we currently have no other choices to PR spin it appearing to be popular? 0_o That’s a fine way to say “We don’t care what our users think. It’s all about what WE want, since that worked so well for Star Wars Galaxies.”
Even though I know I’m wrong, I secretly hope the reason they’re “ignoring” all the complaints is because they’re attempting the same tactic used to teach babies to not cry for attention.
I was in a group with 4 80’s, and as a level 50, nobody complained or commented on my level. In fact, I was the “leader” of the group who started the whole thing – and we finished level 1 in FotM.
No offense but that’s probably because a group of level 20’s being played by monkeys could complete FotM level 1…
Probably the only positive thing I have to contribute to this thread is that Tarnished Coast is a great server with a great community if anyone is looking to jump ship to a new server. I’m currently on FotM level 12 and I have never been gearchecked or anything of the sort. I rarely see people complaining in LA map chat, I rarely see any sort of “elitist” recruitment messages for any dungeon, etc etc. I highly recommend TC for anyone who values a good community, we’re also pretty good in WvW if that’s important to you.
Deuces.
LFG channel please.
Somehow, I think you’d see it differently if a dungeon catered to casuals disadvantaged “elitist” because they were “overqualified” for the dungeon but yet the “elitist” needed to get items from said dungeon to complete an armor set, and “elitist” were the ones who were consistently “kicked” from said groups.
Ya think we wouldn’t have a whole legion of “elitist” on these forums crying foul?
If for some bizarre reason that ever came to be, I’d be willing to bet my fully decked out thief that elitists wouldn’t come on the forum and whine about it. Honestly though, most of these dungeons do cater to casuals in terms of difficulty anyhow. The only things I ever see elitists QQ about is content being too easy, being bored, or others being bad…
The solution is simply to create your own group if available groups aren’t meeting your criteria, I don’t understand why people don’t find this to be a viable solution. Some people form parties to help newbs, some people create parties to take their time and explore, some people create parties to complete content as efficiently as possible, etc etc… it’s just the way it is. If I had to put a football team together to win the Superbowl, I’d probably pick players I thought were exceptional at the sport… not Joe Schmoe and his junkyard team. /shrug
I just love this, people who call an argument sad when they are not capable of formulating a real rebuttal. rolleyes
As somebody else stated, it’s simply that you don’t like to be reminded of the fact that once upon a time you knew nothing. And going by some of your statements I’m beginning to think that you know more about gear stats than you do about actual skill,
I think what you’re having a difficult time comprehending is that not everyone in the world is a carebear chomping at the bit, frothing at the mouth, and wildly enthusiastic about helping people. Not many people want to spend their limited game time helping out complete strangers every day of the week, no MMO has ever been like that and no MMO ever will be, sorry to bring you back to reality.
While you’re sitting here acting like you’re so morally superior to the elitists, you haven’t realized that you’re just another elitist in a different form and thus, the circle of the internet continues to go ’round.
EDIT: Dear everyone else in this thread, elitists aren’t keeping you from this content. Your submission to them is what’s keeping you from this content, if some of you would put your dramatics aside you’d realize that elitist groups aren’t the only groups available for FotM. You never see elitists posting that all the casual carebear groups are making it difficult for them to do content, you know why?
Because we make our own groups. :O
(edited by Cyric.7485)
Valid point, I’ll make sure to bring that up at the next Dungeon Runners meeting and remind everyone to slow down because we’re leaving other players behind. I think we’ll realize that sometimes it just takes people half a year to get familiar with content and we really need to make an attempt to drag ourselves down to accommodate you.
What about players who don’t buy GW2 for 6 months ?
Ha, touché sir!
Guilds, friends, and I’m even confident there will still be PUGs available to join/create.
I agree, I’ve been having a lot of fun with it so far.
Frankly, I am surprised some of you didnt complain that people leveled faster than you and wouldnt come back with you to level up.
This guy, right here. +1
What about 6 months from now when most of the people have higher ranks ?
Valid point, I’ll make sure to bring that up at the next Dungeon Runners meeting and remind everyone to slow down because we’re leaving other players behind. As I stated above, there is no gear grind currently.
i just stopped reading right there.
you are acting as if the ascended item treadmill is not a real thing that is going to affect WvW.
how can you expect me to take anything you say seriously.
Lawl, look man. I’m just tossing the facts at you right now, if you want to retain your ignorance then so be it. The fact of the matter is that regardless of what I say in this discussion, you’re still going to walk away with this crazy idea that gear trumps skills in WvW in your head and that this vile gear treadmill is going to ruin the game. I’m no different, I’m still going to walk away thinking you’re neurotic and ridiculous, I only posted because this thread stirred a mix of disgust, amusement, and frustration in me. I have no real desire to sway you to my side, so it’s whatever brohemoth.
Catch you in game and all that jazz.
I don’t understand why this is a problem at all. Don’t like how someone is recruiting for their own group? Create your own group, problem solved. You can scoff and think you’re morally superior in your own little world of fancy candy canes and pink goblins riding unicorns with butterscotch clouds that rain chocolate hearts for all the kiddies because now it’s your group to do what you like with.
Play how you like, that’s the slogan, right?
This “elitism” only affects you because you refuse to take the initiative to put your own group together. So while you’re sitting on the sidelines judging that elitist jerk for having “crappy morals”, relax for a second and look in the mirror because at that moment you’re no better than what you perceive him to be now.

I didn’t realize there was a required time to play an MMO.
I’ve been playing them since ‘94 in Neverwinter Nights, then on to Ultima Online in ’97. Played UO pretty casually, and there was no content i couldn’t do on any given night.
Perhaps that game wasn’t “hardcore” enough to be considered an MMO?
/shrug
I really liked the direction this game was going, away from an internet fashion show in a sense. I hope they remain on that path..
I don’t recall NWN ever being an MMO and UO was an entirely different beast than GW2. Anyway, there is no specific amount of time that needs to be allotted to be eligible to play an MMO, that wasn’t what I was getting at. What I was saying is that any MMO, regardless of how casual friendly it supposedly is, requires a larger time investment than a single player RPG. So, if you’ve gone out and purchased an MMO and then decided to blame the company/game because you lack the time to play that’s just childish. To me, when GW2 is said to be casual friendly, it says to me there’s going to be a lot of easy no brain content so the majority of players will have a level playing field.
Also, this whole 2 hours are required nonsense is based off of people’s senseless fear mongering and incessant need to whine about a gear treadmill that doesn’t exist at the moment… so to me, this entire debate is pretty dumb to begin with.
GW2 is practically nothing more than a glorified fashion show, so I don’t quite understand your last sentence.
your post makes very little sense when these posters are playing a game that was advertised and sold as not having a gear grind which is why this game was appealing to the people who post with little spare time.
you are trying to act like these people are trying to be hardcore raiders or something which is borderline delusional.
As I stated above, there is no gear grind currently. People are grasping at anything to get all hysterical about and it’s causing an epidemic of stupid proportions. First off, ANet explained their whole thought process behind why Ascended items are being put in. Oddly enough, they never mention that it’s so us “hardcore players” can rub our big numbers in your “casual player” faces… Secondly, they also said they’re not going to be adding tier after tier after tier after tier to make an actual gear grind, everyone is just losing their ish over their own neurotic imagination. Thirdly, Exotics and Ascended gear aren’t even that far apart so these people are basically just nitpicking for the sake of QQing. Lastly, I’m not acting like anyone is trying to be a hardcore raider… you can be a total scrub/noob/tool/newb/baddie in this game and still be successful in this game (read: at least half the community), so I highly doubt Ascended gear is going to suddenly shove GW2 face-first into the gear check mud. My entire point was that a lot of these people are childish and I find it mildly amusing that they can’t take personal responsibility for their own lifestyles and seem to think that ANet is responsible for their inability to play as much as they think they have to.

(edited by Cyric.7485)
Happening to me as well, dear gawd make it stop!
I take kitten longer than 2 hours. This post is kittening dumb.
Lawl, seriously. Since when is it anyone else’s fault but your own that you lack the time and/or resources to play an MMO? Why are you playing an MMO if you don’t have time… to play an MMO?
I’m impressed some of you can even hold down a job or a social life while simultaneously deflecting your shortcomings onto everyone else, lol.
I leveled my main to 80 and an alt to 74 before I realized that you could set up a separate hotbar of utility skills for underwater combat.
I’m dumb.
Really ANet?
Now, I know some people don’t like PvE. I know they want to be able to do their dailies and monthlies as well. You could have done a nice menu system: Do four out of eight of these tasks, and your daily/monthly is done. You know, play how you like, as you promised. But no, you made them independent and something to grate on completionists that hate PvP. Every. Puppy. Day.
Not sure if I am uninstalling yet. But, I’m getting close.
And don’t tell me “it’s optional.” The whole puppy game is optional, because it’s a game: this impacts how I want to play it, so it strikes at the core for me. Dailies were already an annoyance to begin with. This just turns them up to 11.
This thread has so much lawl in it, it’s ludicrous. Play how you like. Play how YOU like and screw everyone else that wants to play how they like seems to be your philosophy. The sheer amount of PvP related achievements that you’ll never achieve doesn’t bother you, but this incredibly easy PvP daily is just a tremendous blemish on your “completionist” goals.
Gimme a break, please do uninstall.
P.S. You’re not OCD if you can just uninstall a game over a “OCD impulse” and move on without an issue, you’re just melodramatic.
lots of math
If the majority of players were running around with actual Legendary weapons, I’d be inclined to agree with you. However, I’m going to wager that not enough people have a Legendary quality weapon to make the effects dramatically felt across the board. Aside from that, a Legendary weapon should be… well… legendary, so I have no qualms about the damage increase on it.
As for all your math stuff, I won’t lie to you, I started reading it and then just skimmed a lot of it. I did notice that you may have mistaken my 2k-3k Power remark as me stating that the difference between the two is negligible, which is not what I was implying. I was merely voicing that with either Power value, my results wouldn’t vary much in terms of my success/failure ratios. One of the largest lessons I learned when I first started playing GW2 was that the numbers aren’t nearly as important as I thought they were… it wasn’t until I started moving things around and diversifying my builds that I started seeing much better results, hence the basis of my 2k-3k remark.
This made me almost spit my drink out. ROFL I was laughing so hard at the “wearing trashbags and swinging old newspapers” part.
Lawl, I’m glad you enjoy my sarcasm as much as I do.

“By that logic anything up until now that wasn’t an Exotic tier item has been considered an obsolete item? "
Yes. Yes it is. Seriously? Look at rares : 15 silver a piece. Look at exotics, 1+ gold for most of them (usually, the minimum craft cost + a %). . .
Yellows cost more then 15 silver to make, yet sell for 15 silver. WHY? Simple, that’s the price ectos are at. Hence, obsolete. People go drops -> maybe yellows -> exotics and never look at yellows again. (I went blues/greens to exotics personally)
The biggest difference in moving from rares to exotics are the base stats such as weapon damage and armor value. The additional Power/Precision/Toughness/etc increase is hardly noticeable, to me anyway. I had no trouble stomping the PvE scene or the WvW scene with my rares and when I upgraded to exotics I saw a slight increase in my performance but nothing that made me think “OMGWTFHAVEIBEENDOINGTHISENTIRETIME!?!?!”. Anyone who deems something “obsolete” because it’s lacking a whopping 5 stat points is, IMO, probably a min/maxer. I can kick someone’s teeth in with 3k Power or 2k Power, hardly makes a difference in the grand scheme of stats.
In the other blog post, it mentions how they will be using Ascended gear and the Infusions for future content.
This is just the beginning. In November, we’re only adding the first level of Infusions and Ascended Rings and Back slots, so that leaves us a lot of room to build upon these levels of Item progression in future content.
As we release more new end game content in the future, you’ll see more Infusions and Ascended item types being added to the game. Eventually, you’ll be able to kit yourself out with a full set of Ascended gear and high end Infusions to help give you the edge in end game content.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/linsey-murdock-unveils-new-high-end-ascended-gear/
(I actually just posted this a few posts up already. And no, that is not taken out of context.)
Ah, fair enough then. Suffice to say, I’m not at all bothered or concerned about this change. In fact, come to think of it, it kind of gives me something to do now. To each their own, I suppose.
Aside from the infusions, you have to recognize that the stats increase from tier to tier is very small in GW2.
A naked untraited character has about 2000 attack. With full power gear, you’ll have about 3000 attack. Adding a few points each to 3 slots, you just won’t see any change. Even if eventually we get all 12 gear slots with a few more points each, it doesn’t add up to a noticable change in performance (meaning a mob that takes 10 hits to kill with full exotics will maybe take 9-10 hits after you upgrade every single piece of armor and accessory).
This is essentially my original point. I feel like people are reading a bit too much into it, while I don’t think their speculation about the direction of Ascended is absurd, I think their initial reaction to something that hasn’t even been implemented yet is.
Wasn’t taken out of context. Just a summary of what the entire thing was about. Here ya go. And I don’t see at all how my signature is ironic, sorry.
To make Fractals of the Mist even more challenging, every time you re-visit the hub, the dungeon scales up in difficulty. That’s right, a scaling dungeon! The dungeon will remember your progress, and will poll the party’s levels when you enter, scaling the dungeon to the highest common attained level. It’s a true challenge, but as you hit higher and higher scales, the dungeon will get more and more rewarding. You’ll have to have some serious skills and solid tactics to make it through these Fractals. After a certain point, our new Ascended items and Infusions become crucial tools for survival. To learn more about this new type of high-level gear, check out this post from designer Linsey Murdock.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/leah-rivera-on-the-new-fractals-of-the-mist-dungeon/
Thanks for the link, I hadn’t seen that particular blog, much appreciated. As I said though, that quote is directly related to FotM and the Agony condition, nowhere in that blog does it mention you’ll need Ascended gear for future content. That being said, it wouldn’t surprise me if resistance to Agony was needed for future content but it hasn’t been mentioned by ANet yet so any attempt to spread that around just looks like fear mongering to me.
It makes Exotics obsolete because of the new Infusion slot, not just the stats.
It was quoted by Anet saying, “After a certain point, our new Ascended items and Infusions become crucial tools for survival.”. Proving that Ascended items will be mandatory over Exotics (since Exotics don’t have an Infusion slot).
Which in turn, will make Exotics obsolete if you wish to participate in any future content.
I’m going to assume that one liner quote is taken out of context and as thus, proves nothing without it’s surrounding paragraph. I also have the feeling that quote is talking about FotM and the new Agony condition. Feel free to correct me with a link or something, I admit I haven’t been losing my mind and blowing things out of proportion much, kinda just read the blog and went about my daily life.
Also, your signature is so ironic it hurts.
(edited by Cyric.7485)
+5 power x 6 accessories and 6 armor pieces(note that armor pieces have varying stats depending on which piece, i.e. helm stats <chestpiece stats) there will be a noticeable increase in stats.
now the armor is a bit more guesswork as we have no idea if they are going to account for runes or not. but as it stands right now, the exotic ring shown on the right of the image in the post is completely obsolete when compared to the ascended ring on the left.
By that logic anything up until now that wasn’t an Exotic tier item has been considered an obsolete item? So up until I upgraded to Exotic gear, I’ve basically been wearing trash bags and swinging old newspapers but still somehow I’ve managed to be competitive, that’s pretty embarrassing for my opponents (PvP and PvE alike).
Sarcasm aside, my point is that the increase in stats isn’t nearly as tremendous as everyone seems to think. Yes, it’s a better item stat-wise. No, it doesn’t make Exotics obsolete… not by a long shot.
People are affraid (and rightely so) that this will become a gear threadmill. First, the stat is MF – if it’s another thing, say power, of thoughness, it’ll be a lot more. Second, if it was crit chance, that’s a total of what? Around 30-40% crit damage for an entire set? That’s a pretty huge DPS difference.
2, the stat also include infusion. You want to do fractals? Get infusion. Do fractals to get infusion. But to use infusion, you need ascended armour. Do fractals for ascended armour. Then the next dungeon comes out that needs infusion, did you get good infusion from fractals? No? Go do fractals until you have enough infusion since this dungeon is 40% harder. Done fractals and the new dungeon? New new dungeon. 80% harder then fractals, go do fractals to do the new dungeon to get enough infusion to do the new new dungeon. . .
That’s what people are scared of.
I see, I see…
Well, even with that in mind, it still seems like people are hugely blowing this out of proportion. As I said in my last reply, I was able to keep up with people in exotics when I was running around in masterwork/rare gear with no problems whatsoever so I really don’t expect this whole Ascended thing to have this immensely dramatic game altering effect that everyone is bugging out about.
We’ll just have to wait and see though, either way I’m just going with the flow, haven’t had a single thing in game shy of level ever stop me from doing much of anything and I don’t expect that to change with this.

“this argument is in the realm of fanatical over reaction with a dash of elite fanboism and a whole bunch of I dont know.”

Notice the picture from ANet? The picture with an Ascended ring, that is better then the exotic ring?
The picture from ANet. The one that says “Yep this is what an Ascended item is”.
Our posts may be fanboy, but yours reeks of ignorance.
Quoting you mainly for the link and in regards to people spazzing out about being forced into a gear treadmill. People are seriously losing their minds over this barely even worth mentioning improvement? I must be missing something because looking at that picture of the Ascended beside the Exotic, I can’t comprehend what’s up with all this GW2 doomsday talk. For that specific example shown, you gain 5 additional Power/Precision and 3% more Magic Find… and that’s considered a gear treadmill? Excuse me while I LMFAO at this. I remember playing an Assassin in Aion (pre-everyone gets a stunbreaker) and barely even having blues but still wrecking people with yellows. Same goes for GW2, having a bunch of cheap masterwork/rares didn’t stop me from strutting my stuff all over WvW and dungeons.
That little rant aside, I hardly see how this affects anything in the gear treadmill department unless you’re a neurotic min/maxer.
Here’s how I feel about Nerf threads. Nerf all you want. I’ll still beat you because I’m a better player. When it comes down to it, you can’t nerf me.
+1
I agree, nerf away! It won’t stop me from kicking in baddie’s teeth and attempting to craft some jewelry in the Mystic Forge with’em.
I swear this community goes into a tear streaked uproar over every single new thing ANet implements. I can’t recall a single update/patch yet that didn’t have a river of tears behind it…
The way I understand this whole “gear progression” update is simple, they’re putting in a tier between Exotic and Legendary so people have something semi-difficult to strive for instead of being gear capped in a week (if that, lol) and having to grind for months (with the exception of the hardcore players) for Legendary weapons. I almost expect Ascended gear and Exotic gear to be interchangeable due to their respective “upgrade/infusion” slots in relation to this whole Agony business.
Are they going against their manifesto? Not really. IMO, they’re just trying to add some flavor to the game. At the very least, wait until it’s actually in the game (the patch is coming regardless of the QQ on the forums) and you see the positive/negative effects it presents before you throw a tantrum about it.
(edited by Cyric.7485)
Lawl, you soloed that starter area veteran with the super easysauce gameplay. Thieves need an epic nerf, omg!
+1
but you have to accept these type of things are more important to others than they are to you.
You not caring about the achievement lets you be lenient with A-Net.
If you look at other comments, there are people who care for the achievement and got it and still think it is wrong. Your opinion is biased and I suggest you’re the one who should exclude himself from this discussion.
“I don’t think it’s the government’s fault the minimum wage is too low for you to make a living. being middle class, I think it’s your responsibility to prosper economically and reach out of your low economical standing – despite the handicaps that prevent you of doing so.”
Point is, if in simulation or in real life, you have to take in consideration the circumstances of the people who belong to what ever you’re running. No, you don’t understand what we’re all complaining about.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Affirmative_action
LMFAO!!!! Wow bro, you took this to an entirely different level. This entire thread is based on how people missed the MK instance due to RL responsibilities and are agitated for not being provided with ample warning regarding the instance’s imminent removal according to the OP. Just because my opinion is “biased” or conflicting to your own doesn’t mean I should remove myself from a discussion, lol. I’ve already conceded that ANet’s information needs to be disseminated in a more organized and prompt manner, what else do you want from me? xD
The achievement means next to nothing to me,
Surprise, surprise!
Not really sure what you’re so agitated about, I apologize if me having a different opinion from you upsets you. Perhaps the public forums isn’t the right place for you…
How can you “not be sure” what I’m so agitated about? We’ve been complaining about it for an entire thread.
Allow me to elaborate on my previous response to you. I don’t understand why you’re calling me out specifically as if not caring about an achievement is some kind of elitist attitude or something. I understand what you’re all complaining about, I just don’t really get why you quoted that part of my response and added “surprise, surprise” to it. /shrug
Yes you can.

I finished everything, because I spend time reading the forums, the news feed before logging in, asking guild, twitter, facebook, the wiki, the main site, third party sites……
Seriously, ArenaNet posts different information on it’s official channels with near zero uniformity. Twitter might have an important note about something getting extended while no other source has it…. It makes it a pain because ArenaNet does communicate with us, if you are lucky to find where they put the communication at.
Oh, and Reddit and Guru too. Need to check them as well.
So for all of us that already know how an event will work, it is easy to tell others “they should have known”. Of course we’ll say that…. we get to gloat that we found the source. But I’ve always wondered why the login news feed is always listing patches days late, and not listing start and end dates right where people can see them. It would make sense to list gaming information where people play.
Expecting players to look up information about playing a game outside the game is logical to the point that you expect people to spend time not playing a game but instead reading about it. Really, I do read about stuff… but I realize how stupid it is to expect people to spend time their time reading about a game just so they can play it.
Okay, this argument I can validate and you’re absolutely right. I don’t think it’s that big of a deal to have to check the forums real quick, however, I think ALL the needed information should be on the forums in the Announcements area. As I said above also, it would be very convenient to have the information on the log in newsfeed, but at the same time if it was at least collectively in the GW2 forums it still wouldn’t be a big deal to me. The fact that the information is fragmented between a bunch of different websites is a problem and I’ll readily admit to that. I suppose I may have just lucked out by checking the forums when I did. :\
The achievement means next to nothing to me,
Surprise, surprise!
Not really sure what you’re so agitated about, I apologize if me having a different opinion from you upsets you. Perhaps the public forums isn’t the right place for you…

Nothing beats a human GM taking care of business. MMO’s have had GM’s since the dawn of MMO’s. Unfortunately for Anet that would cut into their profits but so does the mass of people that will leave the game due to this.
If they moderated their game half as much as they moderated their forums, the bot issue wouldn’t even be an issue.
I’d like it to be account bound as well, I will never wear this on my thief, it just doesn’t fit the look I’m going for. However, if I should one day make an elementalist, I’d love to be able to transmute it.
Bravo, sir. That’s a much better attitude to have than calling for nerfs just because you can’t do it.
Your signature fits perfectly with what your arguing here. “Losers make excuses, winners make it happen.” It’s clear that you got your precious achievement title and you’re happy to see that other people weren’t so lucky. Get off your high horse. I don’t care about the title, I just wanted to run the instance with some friends, which we were planning to do on Halloween. What a crazy time to want to do a Halloween event, eh?
About the lore argument: it’s an instance. You can go into the same dungeon and kill the same boss over and over again. That same boss might even be somewhere else in the game, at the same time. This already happens, in every single MMORPG ever. Opening the dungeon back up doesn’t change the lore because it’s an instanced event.
Finally, the “it only takes a few minutes to run the instance, check the forums, etc.” isn’t even the issue we’re discussing. We’re not making a case about not having enough time to complete the tasks so stop trying to make that the issue. This is about misinformation, or lack there of. Anet has been very good about providing everyone with information about the events in-game, so why did we have any reason to think they were leaving something out of the in-game guides?
Eh, sorry for the rant.
Man, you’re coming out the gate swinging, huh? For starters, my signature is simply my mantra to life. It implies that people who just make excuses for all their shortcomings are “losers” and that those who push through adversity to create their desired outcome are “winners”, take it however you’d like.
Secondly, I’m not on a high horse. The achievement means next to nothing to me, I don’t recall ever once bragging about my achievement points being higher than anyone else’s in this thread or any other thread for that matter. Also to note, I’m fairly confident that the majority of the GW2 playerbase that participated in the festivities has the title, so it’s in no way some exclusive “Wow, I can’t believe you got that!” title.
Thirdly, the dungeon isn’t going to get opened back up no matter how much you kick and scream about it. You’re right though, instancing in such a manner that you’ve described does happen in nearly every MMO. Currently I can’t think of any unique boss types that are lurking around Tyria that you also kill in an instance, there are some you defeat, but let’s just hope ANet doesn’t have characters we kill just wandering around Tyria. Opening the instance back up does, in fact, change the lore contrary to your beliefs. The instance is about the Mad King attempting to escape his realm in the brief amount of time he has each year, having a swirling vortex that the Mad King is trying to burst through to murder us all sort of takes away from the “Hey, we saved the day!” feel while the Mad King parades around goofing off.
Lastly, I didn’t say anything about how long it takes to run the instance. As for checking the forums, that should honestly be a standard practice for any MMO player. You don’t have to be an active participant on the forums, but you really should be in the habit of checking for new updates and news periodically, especially if new content is being added every couple of days. You only stand to benefit from “being in the know” and as I responded to another poster, it does only take a couple minutes to do.
In summary, it seems like you’re just mushing everything that’s been said in this thread together and using it in an attack against me whether I’m the one who said it or not.
