I’ve never experienced that. All the way up to diamond I never lost more that 3 in a row.
Can’t you see that you’re just on the opposite side of the same problem coin? How do people not make this connection?
It just happened again. I teleported to Phinney Waypoint in Queensdale and made it all the way to the cave full of Ettins and a Rich Copper Node north-northwest of the waypoint. As soon as I drew the attention of the mobs, I was sent back to Phinney Waypoint. Aggro’ing mobs seems to be the trigger, somehow.
I have this issue where I’ll teleport to a waypoint, start running away, and then get hit with a loading screen 15 seconds later and placed right back on the same waypoint I just tried to run away from. It seems like the game isn’t registering that I ever made it to the waypoint the first time, so it re-syncs and puts me there again just to be sure.
I do not experience rubberbanding in any other aspect of the game. It’s only when I use waypoints, which strikes me as particularly odd. I don’t notice any high ping during these issues either, and I’d say it happens about 10% of the time that I use a WP.
Could we get an update on this? I’d love to be able to finish my story.
It’s validating to know that other people share my opinion. I thought my post on the new hairstyles was going to die pretty quickly. I miss being able to take the lore and art style of GW2 seriously. Even with the goofy Asura, there was a sense of artistic integrity in creating lore that pushed the limits of being funny without resorting to gimmicks. I know there were a lot of comic-relief moments, but nowadays, it seems like the kitsch has gone way too far and the entire game is just one big “Who can look the most ridiculous?” contest. It was funny for a second, and now I’m over it. I wish ANet could take themselves seriously again.
The lions mane seems to make sense, what’s wrong with it? Apart from the clipping issues, I would have assumed those without reading on the forums about them.
Ppl have asked for for Lion manes for a long time – now they got it!
I know. This is the only one I’m not fully disappointed with, which is why my first post mentions only two styles. I’ll edit it to make it more clear.
I should note that the
lastsecond one, when paired with one of the new faces, looks exactly like Shou Tucker’s dog-daughter. “Ed….ward?”Y’know, I had to think about that one for a minute.
And then…
FEELS
T____T
Right? So sad…
Based on what I’m seeing in LA, I’m afraid I’m in the minority on this one :-\ It’s clear that giant low-rez hairstyles that clip into essential body parts and reek of kitschy comic relief are what people want. It makes me feel like I’m taking crazy pills, but there’s nothing I can do except complain, and that’s not very attractive in large amounts. My opinion is out there now, but I don’t like it when people rant, so I guess I’ll leave it at that and let people use this thread to agree or disagree as they please.

I rarely get annoyed enough to post about something in the forums, and I don’t want to rant in a “tl;dr” post, but what were you thinking, ANet? Two of these new Charr hairstyles (the topknot and the Super Saiyan nonsense) look like my third grade drawings of DBZ characters, and I’m not happy about it. I guess you gave up on making them look good and decided they should be the comic relief? It’s shameful.

As a VERY casual player who got his recipe from his 50th gauntlet chance, I still agree that this is completely unfair, even though it happened to work out in my favor. There’s no reason I should have something that other people farm endlessly for and never get. I didn’t try at all.
There’s a problem with Japanese (kana and Japanese-exclusive kanji) not being supported in the game. It makes it really obnoxious to write to each other.
All scenes should be subtitled, unless there’s an issue. See this thread: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/archive/tower/Please-subtitle-all-cut-scenes
Is the problem that it looks “too feminine” for a human male? I think it’s refreshing that there’s more feminine male armor choices for the people who want them. I’m not one of those people, but it’s nice to see options.
I can confirm this as well. It makes underwater combat nearly impossible.
Well in all fairness, (unless you’ve checked it every day since launch) it could have gotten stuck again rather than being stuck continuously for over a year. Some escort events get hung up every now and again. I don’t know why it happens, but they’re usually fine after a day of me reporting them.
I got the Hero’s Band as a drop from a centaur in Queensdale. As far as I knew, this item was only available through pre-orders and the digital deluxe version. Did something change or is this a bug?
Every time a battle starts in there, the gates close while players fight him. A brawl event should activate, which will keep you busy until they open again. It’s like this in all of the races’ tutorial zones. Just be patient.
This is completely unhelpful and rude. Maybe you should at more details and ask politely for your problem to be fixed.
Have a nice day.
::edit:: I am NOT the OP. I guess OP didn’t add any body text, so there’s no first post. Whuh?
How can noseless Sylvari speak with the same voice as other Sylvari characers when they have no nose or sinuses to create the same resonance?
The same way that all male sylvari have exactly the same voice, somehow: suspension of disbelief. It’s a fantasy game, after all. Surely you’re used to doing this.
::edit:: after holding my nose and talking to myself like a dork, I have concluded that I can make myself sound almost identical with enough practice. And the Sylvari aren’t speaking English, anyway. They’re presumably speaking New Krytan and what we’re seeing is, in theory, only an English dub. So it makes sense that the voice would go unchanged if you desperately need an explanation. As amusing as I find it that you experimented with holding your nose until you could get your voice to sound the same, I don’t “desperately need an explanation.” The vocal resonance is one of several small issues I have with the noseless faces—besides the fact I think they look like the aliens from Independence Day—that prevent me from liking them.
Edit: To clarify, my opinion on the appearance of the noseless faces is largely in regard to the pine cone ones. I’ve come to like the Voldemort face. While a Sylvari with it would still have to chew all their food with their mouth open, I think it has more character to it than just existing to be cutesy and different.
That’s still a very strange hangup to have about a face. Just pretend their nostrils were relocated to the corners of their eyes or something.

I don’t I agree with the “they’re plants so they don’t need noses” thing.
Normal plants don’t have noses, but Sylvari aren’t just normal plants. They’re plant beings created in a human image. If they have stuff like eyes, mouths, and ears (which regular plants also have no need for) and even human-esque reproductive organs (even though they can’t reproduce) because they’re made in a human image, then having a working nose certainly doesn’t seem out of the question. Which means the faces that don’t have noses at all would be at a disadvantage. But that’s just my take on it. I’m glad other people like the noseless faces, but I’ll always consider them impractical, personally.
I think you might misunderstand. No one is claiming that having a nose is superfluous, but rather that not having a nose is not unquestionable. I don’t think it’s at all a “disadvantage” or that not having a nose is any more alienating than the fact that they’re walking, talking, glowing plant people. Some of them have thorns and some of them have giant fungus hats growing from their heads. Surely that’s equally strange.
(edited by DallasisaLeo.1584)
…they actually do have noses, just small and without noseholes…
What do you mean? I don’t see a nose, and the sliders only slightly change the shape of the area of their face where their nose would be if they had one.
The pinecone faces for the male and female remind me of Pikmin, and they’re adorable once you come to terms with the conspicuous lack of nose. At first, I didn’t like them at all. I really had to remind myself that they’re not human and don’t need noses, but once I was able to do that, I truly came to appreciate the design choice. When I sketch something (I’m an awful artist), I can’t even work up the courage to post it online anonymously, much less stamp my name on it and submit it for everyone to use. I don’t like destructive criticism, and I get discouraged easily. Kristen Perry had to know that the initial reaction would be one of shock and slight disgust. Seeing a face without a nose is fairly unnerving to begin with. He-who-shall-not-be-named (Just kidding. I can say Voldemort) was designed that way specifically to provoke that reaction, after all. Releasing the faces, knowing for sure that there would be potential backlash and hatred, is a sort of artistic bravery that I can really appreciate.
As for the noseless male with the scars, I’m in love. Again, when I saw this on Dulfy’s coverage, I rolled my eyes, laughed, and gawked at how ridiculous it looked. I thought, “No one is going to pick that face for anything but a laugh.” Days later, I’m using my free Makeover Kit to “fix” my Sylvari.
This new face addresses something that has long since bothered me about the Sylvari: There are very few masculine faces. The most masculine one (in my opinion only, I am not stating this as fact) is the one with the goatee, but he has features that don’t really appeal to me. The only other two I was interested in were the skull-like one used on the default Necromancer, and the one covered in layered bark (You know the one). In general, I felt overwhelmed by femininity when I wanted to make a masculine mesmer.
Now hear me out. I’m not saying anything disparaging about feminine men. I’m not the most masculine man myself, but I typically make masculine male characters only because that’s what I like to play. The Sylvari, even the males, are designed to be beautiful, and I appreciate that. In fact, when I set out to make my first Sylvari mesmer, I went ahead and accepted that Sylvari males were okay with femininity and I embraced the idea once I realized that making a masculine Sylvari mesmer would be a huge challenge. I made him incredibly flamboyant. He was thin, periwinkle, and I dyed his gear the most feminine and extravagant colors I could find. I thought it would be kind of cool, progressive, and unique to not be hindered by the idea of masculinity. …And then I ran into hundreds of feminine male Sylvari. It seemed like this was either the trend, or it was just very difficult to make a masculine Sylvari. I took that as a challenge. The end result was a black Sylvari with a hot-pink glow and the bark face. Little did I know that I had subconsciously internalized the concept from this brilliant piece of art that I had stumbled across and soon forgot about. (I did the same thing with my main, a Charr Ele, and now I’m struggling to redesign him… But that’s another story about Charr in light armor).
So, maybe this is horribly hipster-esque of me, but it made me uncomfortable to be using the same look as someone else. When I came across the picture many weeks after “creating” my new look, I felt like I had unintentionally plagiarized. I stopped playing my Mesmer and focused on other characters. That is, until the new faces were released.
I opened my Makeover Kit just to have a look and play around with the noseless faces, which I thought were completely ridiculous and impractical. I wondered what my Mesmer would look like with no nose, so I swapped the face… and fell in love. After an embarrassingly long time with a color wheel, I finally created exactly what I was looking for.
Below is the result of my work. I’ve always wanted to have a masculine Sylvari with a tri-color scheme centered around purple, and I feel like I succeeded. I’m nervous to get feedback on it, but I want to convince people to have an open mind about these noseless faces. I have never been so satisfied with a character’s look, and I feel like this face is exactly what I was looking for in a Sylvari character.
Thank you for reading, and thank you especially to Kristen Perry for the design choice.
tl;dr Read the title.

she seems very tom boy to me now
Caithe is rather masculine, and that’s not a bad thing at all. I like your new look a lot.
So you’re saying that you changed more than your hairstyle, but when you go into sPvP, everything but the hairstyle reverts back to how it looked before you used the kit?
Definitely a bug. Pull some screenshots to show your exact problem. Try changing your PvP gear. I have no idea how this game is programmed, but it sounds like there could be a cache that’s saving the wrong colors, and you might be able to force it to update somehow.
Try switching your audio to German for a bit. «swoon»
Male: One of the new ones with no nose.
Female: #8. A lot of people are obsessed with making their female characters pretty, but I’m a bigger fan of aggressive-looking characters. There really is no better choice for a necromancer. She looks dead, and with the right adjustments she can look positively frightful.
I have to say that I agree wholeheartedly about the majority of the OP. It’s not the difficulty of this that gets to me. In fact, I kind of love that it’s so difficult to beat these guys and I love thinking up new strategies for each one. I don’t mind paying for a respec, and I don’t mind that I have to be level 80. I enjoy a good challenge. But as the OP stated, this isn’t challenging in all aspects; it’s punishing.
tl;dr: Challenging (not punishing) content should be hard to beat but easy to access.
I’m not thrilled with my kite. It’s cool, I guess. But you know what? It was free. I didn’t expect to get it, and I’m thankful for the surprise. I give companies my money because I feel like they deserve it. If you don’t feel like they deserve your money, don’t give it to them (but don’t ask why you weren’t compensated for something you didn’t do)! And since when is it a bad thing for a company to randomly thank its customers for their support? As far as I’m concerned, it’s a fantastic business practice to send thank you letters to customers. If you’re bitter, I don’t know what to tell you. This is a TINY gift that does nothing more than put a smile on the faces of people who got it. It doesn’t give us any sort of gameplay advantage, and you’re still free to play the game normally without buying it. And it’s not like you’re left in the dust either. You can buy these things on the gemstore if you want. So relax!
The entitlement of gamers astounds me. I could justify it when I was playing WoW, but I don’t know how GW2 players rationalize either: “This free gift isn’t good enough.” or: “Why am I not entitled to free things when I didn’t support you financially?”

8/10 has a nice ring to it.
Mine’s a male guardian (Blond to boot with scars): Random Pug Killer
XD1/10 because I feel like you might randomly kill a puppy, and that makes me sad.
Krutt Fjellsson is the name of my Norn Engi.
It’s Norwegian and is intended to mean ‘Gunpowder, son of Mountain’.I seriously hope you’re joking lol. That’s not the pug I had in mind with that name.
What springs to mind springs to mind! Double meaning will be the death of you. :P

She’s just that lucky. Probability is fun like that.
::edit:: and by “fun” I mean “stupid”.
OK hold up. I understand the frustration. I just bought 25 USD worth of gems for those darn coffers, and I got nothing in return. It sucks. But if you walk into a casino and lose everything, you can’t go to the owner and complain that he’s ripping you off. This is gambling, people. If you don’t like it, don’t gamble. I learned my lesson today and I won’t be buying any more.
The REAL problem here is the coffers that you can get as drops. As mentioned above, it isn’t really fair that I can walk in and get wings on my first coffer while someone who’s been farming for 48 hours straight still has nothing. We need to reward skill and dedication. Leave the luck and chance to the people who are willing to gamble with their money.
::edit:: I’d like to make it clear that I will gladly spend money on things that don’t involve gambling. Town clothes, toys, unlimited harvesting tools (yes, I know the statistics, but to me it’s worth it to never visit a vendor again.), skins, etc. I like this game, and I feel like they definitely deserve my money when I can afford to give it to them. I gambled, I lost, and it’s my fault for using the gambler’s fallacy to drive my way of thinking.
Next time, think to yourself, “How happy will I be if I win? Will it be worth it compared to how unhappy I’ll be if I lose?”

I’m gonna go ahead and rez this thread because it’s a great suggestion. There’s virtually no difference between giving us an out-of-combat weapon swap and me opening my inventory and swapping manually. It would just be a LOT easier if I didn’t have to dig through my bags to find what I want.
The Earth Troll never leaves earth attunement, gasp.
I didn’t so much gasp as make this face :-\
I know that there was an issue like this related to the interface size. I can’t find the thread anymore, and I’m on my laptop so I can’t confirm, but try changing the interface size to something else. IIRC the problem was with the “large” setting and switching to any other size fixes it.
This issue showed up again for me today, and I’m glad I dug up this old thread to find your answer. Thank you so much!
Unfortunately, this is something that should really be fixed. “Large” is the only UI size that’s really comfortable on my monitor. :-\
On my elementalist I’m unable to click two of my dagger skills. They’re unlocked (I assume) because hovering over them shows the entire tooltip. However, I can’t activate them by pressing the respective key. And you know how hovering over a skill puts a little golden outline around it? Doesn’t happen. Instead it’s darkened as though it’s locked.
I’ll add screenshots as soon as I’m able, but I’m running -repair right now to see if that fixes it. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
::edit:: Resolution: The skills were locked. The game must have gotten confused because I added an off-hand weapon for which I had already unlocked all of the skills ¬_¬

I feel like this is a really important bug that can’t be ignored…
Do you think you could go into a bit more detail about that “Gift” thing? They look impractically expensive to craft. Are they?
First off, let me say I’m sorry. I know this must have been posted before, but I’m having trouble finding an answer. Maybe I just suck at searching… If that’s the case, please link me to a relevant thread and I’ll happily close this one.
So, on to the question:
I leveled my armorsmithing up to 400, and now I don’t know what to do.
Can I make cool stuff? Make unique stuff? Can I even make back some of 5g I spent on extra mats?
I apologize if the question seems stupid. I don’t dedicate that much time to researching the game, I just hop on for an hour or so between real life responsibilities. Your patience is appreciated.
Old as this is, I’m going to bring it up again rather than make a new thread. When using the Microsoft US-International keyboard layout, I cannot send special characters in chat. It simply crashed my client when I press Enter to send it. It’s not related to the keyboard layout, however, because using the standard US keyboard layout and pasting the characters provides the same result. I just tested it again, and it is related to the keyboard layout. I can type á on the US-International layout, switch to regular US, and send the character just fine. But if I try to send while the US-International layout is selected, it crashes. Using the German or even Japanese layouts works just fine (though GW2 only has support for Chinese characters… which is silly.)
“Special characters” refers to any non-English character, including the following:
þ ð æ ø å ä ö ü ß ¿ ¡ á é í ó ú à è… etc.
This makes it REALLY challenging to type in foreign languages, which I need to do fairly often. I’ve found that running the client in repair mode sometimes fixes the problem, but I’d say only about 10% of the time.
(edited by DallasisaLeo.1584)
Horns are just as much for defense as they are for offense. When creating my Charr, I thought about protecting my neck from an decapitating slice rather than impaling someone with my head. In fact, if it were safe and easy to use our horns to offensively, why would we bother with weapons at all?
[Elementalist] Swapping into Air attunement causes character to auto attack nearest mob
Posted by: DallasisaLeo.1584
If you have invested 15 or more points into air attunement, switching to air will trigger the targeted attack. If you do not wish to accidentally attack people with this, go to your options and turn off your auto-targeting.
I think you missed the part where it was said that it doesn’t matter what your traits are. ’Tis a bug.
Ahhh… The spotting of the elusive Land Shark.
Arrgghh I remember the days where these sharks were bound to the seas. Never in my day did I expect to see them sprout legs and wonder the land of Tyria.
:D
The issue with these guys was a pretty risky fix. I got a fix in to keep them in their cave a couple weeks back, but it affects the whole game and not just them. We’ve been letting this change get plenty of testing before setting it wild. It’ll make it into our Wintersday build later this week.
-Bill
Thank you for getting around to this. I’m sure many a map completer will be thrilled.
Still bugged @ Crystal Desert.
Stuck at 2/3.
No third shark to be found.
How can this go on for 3 months without someone taking note?
I know this is a REALLY late response, but I had the same problem as well today. It seems to be an anti-botting countermeasure. Just sell things more slowly and you should be fine.
I don’t mean to rez an old thread, but I’d rather not make a new one for the same issue. I’d like to know if this is the intended operation, because it certainly doesn’t seem so. That waypoint is WAY out there and would be really useful if you could actually, you know, use it…
This happens to me too on Windows. Not only Mac. It worked perfectly fine yesterday, but after the patch earlier it is saying ½ instead of <
Run the repair tool and let us know if it helps. Also try deleting My Documents\Guild Wars 2
Still waiting on this…
This is irritating and I’d also like to know if it’s intended.
