Guild: Celestial Apocalypse
Mesmer – Krissadi | Warrior – Bloodpriest Rosette
One word for you.
Mesmers.
I am curious tho if you send yer clones to shatter at a target and while they are running to them, they are killed by AOE or something, does the “on kill trait” still proc?
You answered your own question. It’s really a matter of whether there is any enemies near the clone to apply the effect.
Ruby Orbs. FTW.
The game constantly switches me back to normal/combat clothes. Especially after I stop using the pirate’s cannon.
Scepter is so bad that it doesn’t matter that the cooldowns aren’t refreshed on the MH sword.

I’m still working on getting more sets of gear, and they recently debugged Duelist’s Discipline, but I’ve been pretty successful with it for months. The gear also easily translates into a WvW Confusion Shatter build as well.
edit: remember the Build Editor only has PvP gear, and does not reflect my true stats.

Profane armor + Winged Headgear.
Is everyone experiencing this using the dodge roll keybind, as opposed to double-tapping a movement key? We’re aware of a bug related to using the keybind, but if you’re not using that to dodge, it could be a separate bug.
Yes, the dodge keybind continues to fail time and time again.
Disenchanter has a 20s cooldown (16s with 5 in Illusions, 12s with Phantsmal haste and I often run both)…
Phantasmal Haste does not lower the skill’s cooldown. It lowers the Phantasm’s attack cooldown.
It follows the ground sometimes. Therefore it can sometimes get lost in the terrain between the iWarlock and it’s target.
Dueling 15 points gives “Sharper Images” which makes it so any clone/phantasm attack that crits (even 0 damage attacks can crit) apply a 5 second bleed.
As for iWarlock’s bonus damage from conditions? It is not dependant on your clones that applied it staying alive. Even a condition that deals 0 damage still counts towards the +10% damage per unique condition applied to your enemy.
For that let your cursor rest out of the environment (over your skill bar for example) and press the key of the skill. The game will launch the spell at your feet (you have to activate the “fast casting” for AoE option in the menu (F11)).
You do not need to use fast cast ( but it may be recommended in your case) since you can just press the Area Skill hotkey twice to use it.
EDIT: Also like Animando said, any Conditions that are applied by a clone/phantasm that is killed will deal zero damage.

Mantras only heal on cast. Runes that activate on heal will activate on casting and activation of Mantra of Recovery, but keep in mind the 15 second cooldown on these runes.
1: Once the clone/phantasm’s target (meta-term since phantasms can find new targets when bugged) dies any shatter attempt is a failure and no damage is dealt and no benefit is gained. However, defensive shatter like F4 works fine.
2: Yes, the clones/phantasm stops immediately once a shatter command is issued. The Mesmer must be wary of their Phantasm’s attack patterns at all times to use optimal Shatters.
3: Staff clones will apply conditions that use your Condition Damage, which can be quite significant. But, beware the Vulnerability chains that deal no Condition Damage.
4: The iWarlock has a range of 900, as does The iDuelist. Do not be fooled by the skill’s 1200 range.
5: Area skills were designed with a mouse in mind. If there is a Mod that helps you target AoEs it will probably be blacklisted by ArenaNet as a cheat.
Hopefully my answers were helpful.

Hell a random trait that gives +10% movement while wielding a two-handed weapon would be okay. Since, that is where I feel the slowest. (Okay, Staff has reverse blink, but it’s hard to use that to traverse large spaces.)
You could switch out Dueling II to Dueling IV if you prefer when using Sword over Scepter, especially if you use Sword+Sword.
Necromancer portal should provide a one-way portal that works similarly like the Mesmer’s, but everything that passes through gains a status where they lose 50% of their maximum health for 10 seconds, status does not stack.

Only a Mesmer wishes Mesmers got their skills unbugged.
Well, Mesmers are good at burst damage when it comes to shatters. I’m not to sure how good a shattering build is at long term dps so I can’t comment. However, most of your attack rotation is AoE so that’s a bonus.
In dungeons I find I like using an optimized Phantasm build. It’s a bit weaker on AoE since it isn’t shatter optimized, but the iWarden used correctly with Focus 4 → 4 can be a sizable AoE burst. Otherwise, the iWarlock and the iDuelist are heavy hitters against single targets.
Here’s my attempt at a suggestion.
The idea is to summon a phantasm and let it fire then blow it up with another two clones. Rinse and repeat. There should be enough battlefield manipulation here to help you in 1v1 and team based scenarios. It isn’t optimized, but it should work.
I suggest using the Sword over the Scepter, but that’s up to your preference. The Sword gives you more control and damage than the Scepter.
Edit: I realized I suggested Soldier’s affix gear (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Item_nomenclature) which is an Exotic non-craftable set. That may or may not be a problem.
Knight’s, Berserker’s, and Rampager’s are all valid alternatives. I even suggest mixing them up to get a balanced variety of stats.

Only a Mesmer knows what Schrödinger’s cat must feel like. Each time we dodge, we both evade the attack and get hit by it.
isnt that a hellsing fan?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schr%C3%B6dinger's_cat
It existed long before the reference in the anime.
Lol.

Man, so many buttons to push in this game, LOL! Is there a class that doesn’t require swapping weapon sets??
Mesmers weapon swap every 10 seconds. For example.
Why level 2 Mesmers when you can just get 2 sets of gear and reset your traits when you want to switch? JW
iWarden is our most beastly AoE phantasm. The iBerserker is good, but it can’t hold a candle up to the iWarden’s damage.
Luckily the iWarden is on the focus which houses a cripple and a pull ability. Very easy to mob up/disable groups of enemies.
However, against single targets, like boss fights, the iWarden’s overall dps (even if the boss sits still) is lower than the iDuelist and the iWarlock.
You need to be a really bad player to get stuck with the iWarden and let it do its damage. It’s damage is just slow and he never follows a target. And the only reason a berserker wouldnt be able to hold a candle up to the warden is due to all the flailing the warden does, it would blow out the poor candle.
Although I hope your post was full of sarcasm.
No sarcasm. Phantasm build sucks in PvP. But, focus still owns in a shatter build.

Torch is good for stealth, but the phantasm sucks, why not the offhand sword? It has a quick cooldown on its already melee phantasm.
I like the portal wurm from hell idea.
I think a combination of 3 and 4, and a nod to 1 would be good. What I mean is that the focus’ 4 ability’s second part “Into the Void” should grant nearby allies another stack of haste when used for like 8-12 seconds.
On the topic of the Focus, it is our only weapon that gives a good swiftness and could use a good main hand weapon other than the Sword. Scepter either needs to be fixed or Pistol needs to be added.
Good job HoD… you’re making me want to start my own golem apocalypse.
Just FYI critical damage does not work on phantasms.
Just note that Duelist’s Discipline is bugged and reduces the iDuelist’s damage for some puppied reason.
Just an opinion, but I am a Mesmer, not a Bard.
It’s secretly a shatter signet, but it’s effective on hybrid builds. The fact that it’s useful on phantasm builds is a side effect, especially since a bug makes it so the +50% hp only applies 5-10 seconds after the illusion has been summoned.
So I’m trying to figure out Mantra build, and at first I looked at the “Halting Strike” major trait and thought it sounded cool.
After testing it out it does 130-ish damage… no… I can’t do mantra build until that scales with weapons/power or some puppy.
Big picture, shatter strength has been buffed.
Auto attacking removes blind from yourself.
Guys… we have ether bolt… its a 900 range arcing projectile that can hit people on walls. :O
But, seriously I feel the OP that most of the time I’m just leaving clones around and attempting to pull people off walls/siege weapons with Into the Void.
Really? Timewarp? People forget other classes / weapon sigil already have haste anyway.
Its useless against bosses, its semi-useless in WvW, and its pretty useless in sPvP. I still like it, but never use it since the cooldown is too long when the other 2 elite skills are more suitable to more situations.
Shatter x4 > Shatter x4 > Blurred Frenzy. Rinse and repeat.
Also, use focus smartly and the phantasm will wreck.
(edited by Darzinth.7960)
I think that makes alot of sense. I’ll have to confirm it to myself.
The defender dies far too often, but its cooldown is short. The protection proc minor trait per regeneration application was nerfed with a 10 second cooldown. They also nerfed chaos armor’s cooldown to 35 seconds.
I hope you find a cool build anyway, but anet clearly doesnt want Mesmers facetanking the entire game.
I only run with builds that use a focus. Luckily a lot of them can fit a focus in.
The focus is the “fan” in this game. I know I haven’t seen a focus with a fan model yet either.
It was fun attacking Kaineng BL yesterday. Even though we only managed to hold the tower for a couple hours.
Between Shatter AoE, Phantasm bloodhounds, counter stealths, and stuns/immobilizations I find Mesmers have the the tools to deal with thieves effectively.
Basically, I don’t see thieves as OP.
This is pretty annoying in general. It’s accompanied by other sound bugs for me aswell.
Happened to me too yesterday.
Phantasm build is fine. Even one phantasm is useful, especially once it gets to +70% hp + regeneration. You just need to make use of critical bleed and clones that apply conditions already.
I’m not saying to use Sword/(Pistol/Focus) + Staff, but its a good combo.
