OMG, could we get a Taimi backpack? Like the Ho-Ho tron Backpack? Just like a little Taimi that rides on your shoulder and yells at everything? I would totally drop some serious gems for that.
I’ll second that.
I’d rather they kept real-world events/politics out of the game.
Agreed. No damage meter, ever, personal or public. The effects it has on a game have already been shown (WoW) and if they add one to this game, I quit. Instantly and without hesitation.
Nope, no damage meter of any kind. I’ve already seen what it does to a game (WoW) and if they add one here, I quit. Instantly. Without hesitation.
Dragonhunter is the “no brain, high reward” class now. So go for DH.
I played thief before and i was shocked when i changed to DH. I dont know why anet allows such class imbalances. Thief is “high skill, low reward” class atm. This differences shouldn’t exist in an esport game.
It’s only an e-sports game in the developers heads.
If this game is going to start filling up with PC Bros then I’m quitting.
dear anet, pls b considerate to casual players

Too casual to spell a two letter word?
Oh look, it’s this topic again…
This seems familiar somehow…
I solo’d it, so clearly it can be solo’d.
I guess I’m not going to get an official response for this problem either… bump…
I’m on Windows 10 64bit using two AMD 7970s in Crossfire. I’ve noticed that regardless of my settings (in the game or driver control panel) Vsync only seems to work… sometimes. This has happened for every driver version I’ve used on Windows 10.
Sucks to hear that it’s bugged for some people, hope they fix it soon. I did it earlier without any issues.
Your complaining about the complaining doesn’t help.
It’s a dangerous place. By design.
That’s the point.
It should run okay, though you might need to turn the graphics settings down, a little or a lot, depending on the rest of your hardware.
But I have to say, with GW2, an Intel CPU does make a difference. I switched from an AMD to an Intel with fairly similar specs, and up the FPS went. And that’s with a graphics card that was even worse than the one I used with the AMD (sadly, the new mainboard and the old graphics card weren’t playing nice with each other…). Point being, you can run GW2 just fine on an AMD, but it will probably run better on an Intel.
Can be just difference due to PCI Express v2 versus v3 on your new intel MB.
I fussed with that thing for hours, and I still have no idea. Funny thing was, another series of the same model works just fine, according to the internet. Either way, I have a new one now anyway, and the old one got a new home in my brother’s computer, so everyone won :>
The best way I’ve found to reduce the CPU strain is to use these settings…
Character quality and model limit set to medium.
Shadows set to low.
Reflections set to off.Not much else seems to matter too much as far as CPU goes. I use these settings and I’m on an Intel 3770k at 4.5GHz.
Those settings are awfully low for your CPU (and I’m assuming your graphics card isn’t too shabby, either). I run most stuff at high, except for reflections, with a Xeon @3.4GHz. Of course, if you run a million programs in the background, low settings do seem sensible…
I’m using two 7970’s in Crossfire for graphics. I don’t find shadows or reflections worth the FPS that they cost. And the character settings help a lot in crowded areas.

No way. No nerf please.
Why elite spec reqs DON'T need to be changed

I just want ArenaNet to let me solo all the hero points. That’s it. The one and only change I want them to make to HoT.
Edit: Not saying I don’t want them to be challenging, that’s great. I just want the option to solo them.

All they really need to do, imo, is make all the hero points able to be done by one person alone.

The ONLY complaint I have, so far, is being unable to solo hero points that require combat.
I’m okay with difficulty. I’m okay with a really tough fight. I just want to be able to do that myself.
I love the new content and pretty much everything in HoT BUT the hero points I need a group for. That’s just frustrating and ridiculous.
This issue seems to have been resolved since Heart of Thorns launched. The game no longer freezes on the character select screen.
Did you try switching the bottom trait line to Reaper? I think you can only use that one.
I’m thinking Rabid stats for my Reaper at the moment. Condition spec.
I’ll probably go Greatsword/Staff. I’m not playing a Reaper to use measly little daggers.
Excellent. Thanks for the responses.
If I were going to gift Heart of Thorns to someone who already has a Guild Wars 2 account, how would I go about that? Just buy it and give them the CD key or is there a different method?
Thanks.
That poor dead horse. People just won’t leave it be.
I’d love to have a full color 3D printed statue of my Necromancer.
Installed the newest AMD 15.10 beta driver, issue persists.
I’d love an inspect option which pulled up the forum post history and if there was any posts regarding mounts, DPS meters or capes, etc. I could immediately know and not group with that person.
Seconded. A horrible option that’s been gone over many, many times.
The horse is dead, we can stop beating it now.
I’ve had this issue happen a few times, but I have an NVIDIA Card. However, I do have Windows 10 64-bit… Other than that, the game runs beautifully when I am able to log in. When it does happen, I cannot force close it and I’m forced to reboot the computer. Slightly annoying… May try rolling back driver or something.
I’ve been on around 3 different drivers, and considering we have completely different graphics cards I’d be surprised if that works sadly. I thought this was a Crossfire issue, maybe it’s just a Windows 10 issue?
I’ve also noticed that Vsync seems to only work sometimes, regardless of the settings in the game or my drivers.
That’s definitely working. Although it sure would be nice to get some kind of official confirmation that this is being looked into…
Alt-tabbing as soon as the game starts loading (black screen) seems to do the trick. Must be something with the way crossfire is being activated on the character select screen.
I might have found another temporary work around. It seems that alt-tabbing while the game is loading into the character select screen, waiting a few seconds and tabbing back in prevents the freeze.
I need to try it some more but it seems to work.
Is this a known issue? Any fixes incoming? Sometimes when I start the game, it gets to the character screens and locks up. The music continues to play and the rest of my computer seems to run just fine but the animation is frozen. The colors on my character’s armor don’t appear to have loaded correctly and are a different shade. Alt tabbing doesn’t work, trying to close the game or kill the task on my second monitor doesn’t even work. I have to reset my PC.
I’m on Windows 10 Home 64bit. I’m running two Radeon 7970’s in Crossfire with 16GB of RAM and a 3770k CPU.
Hello.
Have you tried to rollback your graphic card driver.
My latest driver (i have an nVidia) update made GW2 unplayable, freeze + black flickering and when it was working had a ….some kind of lag..
All i had to do was to rollback the driver and now i can play the game.
I hope this helps you.
This has happened across 3 or so drivers on Windows 10 64bit.
Win7, single GPU, happens to me from time to time. Restarting the game is usually the solution…
When the game freezes this way closing it isn’t an option. As Silver said, you have to restart your system. I’ve tried opening the task manager on my second monitor and killing the process and nothing happens.
Daily bump for an official response…
Well I’m definitely glad to hear that it’s not just me. I’m also glad to hear that disabling Crossfire seems to be a work around. Hopefully that discovery will lead to a solution.
From what I can tell it’s an issue with Crossfire. When I disable it for GW2 the issue is completely fixed. I’ve tested the cards with and without the overclock, nothing. Tested it with and without running MSI Afterburner, nothing. The only thing that solves this is disabling Crossfire completely or just for this game.
This is on 15.9.1 beta and the previous two driver releases. Only on Windows 10, it didn’t happen with 8. Any ideas?
Edit: I should add that this issue doesn’t happen with other games I’ve tried, such as The Witcher 3 and Cities Skylines.
Here’s my Necromancer. Soon to be Reaper.
It’s probably good that they renamed it, if it’s ever going to downloading anything then that’s not really an “off” setting.
You likely want the “on demand” setting given in the streaming options.
I had always assumed the “off” version is the “Idle” option… Some more clarity on those options would be appreciated.
Idle just streams content when your connection is idle. There is no “off” setting.
It’s not like I was ever going to get to raid when HoT released, now I can practice not raiding ahead of time.
No one is taking your ideas. Deflate yourself a bit.
It’s not just a hair thing so it wouldn’t make sense to do this.
So you’re saying the game goes black and then doesn’t go back?
I’m sorry.
