I think a more reasonable solution would be to add dye channels to the backpieces that also serve as gliders, rather than every single backpiece in the game.
I’ve been having this issue as well. Everything was working fine until yesterday’s patch, now the game chokes and lags seriously. And it’s not just in heavily populated maps.
I know it’s not my computer, or my graphics settings.
No, I do not want to switch to male armor for my females. I want feminine armor for my asura and charr. One that note however, I would like the armor to be ALTERED. Instead of cups, why not change them to wraps or just plain, flat cloth without the pattern that gives it the illusion of cups?
I don’t want a cheap copy-paste. Please don’t take that route, Anet.
I want that griffon plushie that appeared at the first Wintersday. I remember legit screaming when I first saw it.
This guy? Dear heavenly Dwayna, yes!!!
I would walk to hell and back to get this plush in real life!
I found this beauty of a thread a long time ago, and I feel it’s very useful in getting a feel for how the different races talk.
Update: I couldn’t figure out the appdata thing so I just uninstalled and reinstalled my game. Already that bumped me up to between 20-30fps in a high traffic map like LA, which is so much better than 8 fps. It’s not 60fps like my character select screen runs, but at least the game is playable now.
Since you still refuse to post a picture here like i requested and don’t say
anything about your CPU speed and temperature i thing i’m out since
that leads to nowhere.
I fail to understand what sort of picture it is you want, and I am not very computer savvy, so I have no idea how to check CPU speed or exact temperature. My computer does not run hot when I run GW2, if that’s what you’re asking.
I’m trying my best to understand all these instructions, and to be honest, I am very much confused. Forgive me if I’m a bit on the dumb side.
No I don’t have any extra nvidia stuff except for the updated drivers. My internet plan has not been changed, and I can’t afford to change graphics cards. I’ll try fixing those files that were mentioned, but this issue is driving me up the walls.
I did check and I’m running @x16 so that’s obviously not the problem
Be sure to do a complete reset every once in a while
Just today, I logged on as normal, it did a quick patch, I joined my Necro that I left in Lornars yesterday and… 15 fps. Pretty much framelocked. Stare into the sky, 15 fps. Stare into the ground, 15 fps. Teleport to another zone, fps was still down the drain. As a note, I have a GTX980Ti OC so its not that bad.
So…
- Delete GW2.dat (that big 20gb+ file in your GW2 folder)
- Delete the GW2 folder in appdata/roaming (this is where your settings and temp file is stored)Launch the game and it download again… Better set aside some time because its going to take a while. Be sure to reconfigure to your normal settings, keybinds etc.
So just now when I logged back on, fixed my old settings, my fps went from 15fps to 60fps (frame locked at 60fps, I like it like that). Its not the first time this happens…
Dawdler, I have no idea how to find these files. The only gw2 folder I know of is the one where my screenshots are saved. I’m very interested in trying your method, so if you could give me a step by step, I’d really appreciate it.
I’ve been playing GW2 for a year now, and it’s always run at a healthy frame rate of about 50 or more fps. Then in this past month, my fps dropped drastically to no more than 10 frames, sometimes even lower. My computer and graphics drivers are completely up to date, and changing the settings in game does nothing to fix the problem.
I have i7 running Windows 8.1, with a NVIDIA GEFORCE 840m, I should not be having these problems. None of my other games run this badly, just GW2.
What’s going on?

This animation change upsets me greatly. My asura’s AA was so lively and unique, and now it’s just… bland. Swing right. Swing left.
You took away what I feel really makes the asura attacks feel so different. Please change it back Anet!
I greatly enjoyed Sea of Sorrows and Ghosts of Ascalon, but I felt like the author for Edge of Destiny got lazy. His writing style was a bit sloppy to begin with, but about half way through the book, you could tell he just gave up and wanted to get it over with.
The only good thing I found about Edge of Destiny was that it at least gave you a telling of what happened with Destiny’s Edge, whereas in the game, you only get hints of what really happened.
Not mine, but me and my friends ran into Marvin the Martian in Frostgorge. He even had a bomb!
Now that Lion’s Arch has been rebuilt in a more contemporary style, I find myself regretting that I never really took time to appreciate the old Lion’s Arch, pre-Scarlet. I missed out on a lot of really beautiful screenshots.
I’m wondering if people would like to share their screenshots of pre-Scarlet LA, as the only ones I have are just from the personal story instance, and thus limited and faded in color. I’ll share them nonetheless.
I know this is supposed to be a thread for suggesting human male hairstyles, but after seeing a few female examples, I would like to add a couple.
Could we get long, curly hair? And I mean curly, not just a little bit wavy or Shirley Temple ringlets. And instead of cutting it off around shoulder length, how about making it as long as about some of the norn female hairstyles. It’s not fair that the human females don’t get to have long, flowing hair.

Anet said that the removal of those armors from the gem store was just for a while. They’ll bring them back at a later date.
If it’s baselined, then how come the bounce counts for GS2 or staff1 are still the same as before the new trait system? I’m confused.
GS2 got nerfed on July 28. Staff1 should still have the full number of bounces.
Nerfed how? And when I hover over Staff1, it still says 2 bounces.
If it’s baselined, then how come the bounce counts for GS2 or staff1 are still the same as before the new trait system? I’m confused.
What the hey, I’ll toss in some of my characters too!

I just got into GW2 this past January, and since then, have come to love the game immensely and made characters that I adore with all my heart. I’ve poured money, time, and passion into this game for these past nine months, and had no issues whatsoever in learning how to play, especially seeing as this is my first ever MMO.
For Anet to pull a bull**** move like this, eliminating the fun and immersion from the game that was so easy to obtain before, is like getting rewarded with a knife in the back. These poor decisions on their part are pushing me towards giving up the game completely, which is heaartbreaking to even consider. It makes me fear that this is just the first step towards the complete and utter downfall of GW2.
We were promised that the systems implemented in China would not effect the NA/EU servers. This has apparently been a lie that they were not keen on alerting us to, most likely because they knew the what the reaction would be. Now I’m afraid they’re going to pull more stunts like the VIP system, and if that happens, then most assuredly, I will not be returning to GW2. The levels of my upset are so high that I feel like I’m not even organizing this post as effectively as it should be.
Anet, I beg of you, please change the game back. Listen to your consumers for once and fix this.
Here’s the problem for me. I attempted to use SweetFX on Guild Wars 2, and both game and laptop promptly freaked the kitten out. My game crashed completely and I couldn’t even uninstall/reinstall it. I had to reset my computer to a previous backup in order to even regain any semblance of control.
Needless to say, that was one heart attack I am not keen on trying again. And it makes me sad because I see all these awesome screenshots and stuff, and here I am with poor graphics on my only computer.
I’m itching for some new ringtones and Guild Wars 2 has some amazing stuff that I would love to use!
I personally love skritt lines (ex: ‘what what whaaaat?!’) and asura lines (ex: ‘excelsior!’)
Does anyone have any ringtones they can share or even make? I’ll take anything and everything!
Norn shaman have amazing outfits. Please ANet… we want these outfits!
I had a horrible experience in CM story mode where not only did I get kicked from the party, but they decided to start whisper messaging me in order to mock me over it. They got pretty downright horrible in what they would say. It really put me off dungeons for some time, and back then, I was new so I didn’t know if it was something ANet would look into if I reported the verbal abuse.
I like to think of the GW2 community as a friendly and helpful one, but unfortunately, with things like dungeons and competitive play, you find the most unpleasant people. The only thing you can do is be the instance leader, or start building up that block list.
ANet, I hope you realize that I would JUMP at the chance to get some of these armors. NPCs often have an armor piece that would be better for my characters than anything available to us now.
If anyone else would like to share their favorite NPC armors, feel free to add some screencaps!
kitten, I haven’t been able to get any from all the chests that I’ve opened T_T. This drop rate is ridiculous.
How do you make the scarf and spectacles in the first place though? I can’t find any crafting recipes and those parts sell for stupid expensive on the trading post.
Sweetblue, you are the most amazing! Thanks so much! It was driving me crazy trying to look through galleries to find the same gloves.
At the moment, I have one of each type of class (except engineer, still haven’t gotten round to that one). The way I picked my classes depended on my characters themselves. A lot of it came down to personalities and backstories that I had created for them.
As for what class I enjoy most: Guardian & Mesmer. I love my guardian because he was my first character in game, and he’s an absolute tank with a focus on healing. He beats the crap out of enemies and is great in group.
Mesmers I love because they’re just plain fun in my opinion. And they have the portal skill which comes in handy 9 times out of 10. Bless the mesmers, as I like to say. Plus, my asura mesmer is so darned adorable I have gushing fits over her.
When it comes to picking classes, it’s really all dependent on you. I know that everyone says that by default, but it’s honestly the truth. I picked based on how I RP my characters. Some people pick based on what’s best for Competitive Play. Others may just like one class’s skills over another. It just boils down to your play style.
My advice: play around with it. If you decide you don’t like that class, delete before you get too far and try again. Save that scroll for a character you’re certain of.
Hope this was of some slight use to you. And if not, then I wish you luck either way!
I was just playing through my human storyline when I noticed that this NPC, Priestess Rhie, has totally awesome gloves that I want. Can anyone help shed some light on what armor set they belong to?
Image provided below.
I would DIE for new charr horns and asura ears! Faces and hair are nice, but racial features should be a no-brainer!
I know you can do it ANet!

It’s good to know I’m not alone in this issue. It worked fine for me for the first few minutes, then just started eating my messages. Hopefully this will get resolved quickly!
I’ve been having issues with Blink as well. After teleporting, my character is frozen in attack stance, and just glides along. It takes me 1-2 tries of letting go of the movement keys and trying to move normally again.
I just checked again, and it has it set at it’s normal price, and I haven’t gotten it before, so I’m starting to wonder if it’s a bug?
So this latest news for this weeks BLTC says we can get a set of Minis for free, but I haven’t gotten that option whenever I pull up the BLT window and look for it. In previous weeks at the TC I’ve noticed the announcements say we’ll be getting a free deal on one thing or another, but sometimes it doesn’t show for me. Is those deals something that show up later in the week, on certain days or something? I’m just plain confused.
Trader’s Forum defense achievement for me. Same issue where I get the success notification on the side of the screen, but my achievement panel doesn’t register it.
I’ve noticed that group events aren’t popping up now. I just finished a LA run, and the defend area events for Fort Marinner and Trader’s Forum didn’t come up even once. I’m in Emhry Bay.

It’s the Defend Traders Forum achievement that’s glitching out on me as of today. After finishing the event, I got the little “Hey, you got the achievement!” icon on the side of my screen. Then I checked my achievement list. The “Extraction Complete” achievement has my count at 14/15 (Traders Forum was suppose to be my 14th), but the actual achievement for TF is at 0%.
I tried doing the achievement again, to see if it would fix the issue, but still nothing.

I would go absolutely insane with elation if they put it out as a novel. I highly doubt they’ll ever provide us with a means of playing it again, should we have missed it or just recently joined GW2, so I’d more than welcome a novel that goes a bit more in depth with the characters and helps me better understand the lore.
I love everyone’s input in this, and the expanded ideas. The reason I suggested that they be a paid DLC (as much as I would love it to be free), follows Mastruq’s point. Profit seems like it would provide more incentive for ANET to possibly give us a way to replay the old LS. And to be honest, seeing as this is a no-subscription game, I don’t mind paying for a DLC if that means it supports GW2 and goes towards a better playing experience.
I don’t see it happening soon, but I hope this is something the ANET devs would be willing to listen to their consumers about.
I’m fairly new to GW2 and I’m kicking myself for getting into it so late. I’ve read a bunch of summaries on the past Living World Events, but most are brief explanations and all of them make me want to play them for myself. It makes it real hard to get into current LWE’s when I’ve missed so much already.
My suggestion is to make the past LWE’s some sort of paid DLC or expansion for those of us who missed them entirely. I know that I personally would not hesitate to lay down the money to be able to experience those stories for myself. I’m sure there are others out there who would be equally as interested.
(I tried to post this in the Suggestions forum, but I kept getting a message that said I was unable to do so.)
