Hi there, I am looking for a good PvX Guild. I am an experienced player who plays Thief as a main and Ele as a secondary. I am a player who likes most aspects of the game and would like a guild that participates in a lot of things. GvG would be a plus!

I am also in South Africa and some of my local friends had the same error. Could Anet please look into this

Auto Target

Dehvi.1435

Most games I generally don’t use auto targetting, but GW I do. Don’t know why, guess I was just too lazy to turn it off. Either way I think Anet did a pretty good job as far as MMO targeting scripts go.

I have experienced none of the above mentioned problems OP said, and as yuyuuu said it is all about camera positioning, it targets the closest center of your camera. Use this and tab, you will be fine. Else just turn it off

Yes it can be a more enjoyable way to level up if you stick with zergs (large groups of players) in which case go for it but if you are going alone, there is little you can do as a level 26. I’m not online currently, but will be tomorrow.

I would advise you don’t try WvW till you are nicely geared out as a lvl 80. You will have a bad experience otherwise. I’m happy to help, so feel free to contact me whenever I am online.

Hi Vincent,

I myself am a level 80 thief, and I totally agree that the leveling can be excruciating (although not as bad as many other MMO’s). Do not worry the game will get fun once you reach level 80 and the process won’t be so long that you have to worry about looking good. To those who would complain about my comment on leveling, this is just my point of view – I mostly enjoy WvW and world events, not the leveling process.

Vincent if you are looking for other people to play with I suggest you Join a guild, meet people and chat with the players online. Go ahead and add me in game as a friend, I can help as best as possible.

Welcome to Guild Wars 2 and have a good adventure in Tyria!

~Sahvienn

Edit make it your goal to reach level 80, and see how you like the game from then on.

Well having in mind that if you stand close to a wall you can scroll with a wheel into your character’s head, I don’t think that it’s that hard to implement. We need it.

This… I don’t even know how to respond to you. Here goes..

Scrolling into your characters head has absolutely NOTHING in common with FPV at all. All you are doing is scrolling into your head. If you enjoy playing inside your toons head fine enjoy but don’t try tell me you are “going FPV”

Finishing off attempts should break stealth

If he think that stealth finisher are unfair, wait until he figure out stealth + shadowstep finishing lol.

This is true. Absolutely nothing can be done to stop this finish.

Actually this is untrue, have you ever tried to shadowstep out of a guardians hammer 5? It won’t let you do it without knocking you down, correct? Same thing applies if he were to ring you and you shadowstep returned. Line of warding works, along with countless other control effects over the downed player.

His hammer 5 won’t do anything at all if he is blinded, which he will be when I CnD and immediately shadow step. It is unstoppable.

Feedback/Questions: The Megaserver System: World Bosses and Events

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Dehvi.1435

Dehvi.1435

Honestly IMO you are right, the megaserver will probably (if done right ) be a good thing overall. The only worry is the boss times and the fact that they are only half rolling it out (not merging guilds together as well as the servers at the same time).

I just read your posts about how negative the megaserver system would be and how it would ruin some of the moments you love in the game. I’d like to hear some of your thoughts on the other side of the coin, because right now you just seem to have a very arbitrary opinion depending upon whichever conversation you can be a part of at the time.

I’m so incredibly excited about this update. This will eliminate a lot of grinding/farming and champ train opportunities, which, yes, may harm the community on some level (there are a lot of people who do those things) I think that it’s a good thing because people whine about the game having too much grind when it wasn’t supposed to. (I am a staunch believer that the game only has so much grind as you allow. I have never grinded!) So the more ArenaNet neuter grinding potential, the better!

This update will also really make it more fun to just play the game without a focus. As in, if you’re just exploring the world, you’ll have more people to play with, and a lot of dynamic events that are rarely accomplished will be successful! There’s nothing more frustrating than just playing the game to get my dailies done but not being able to complete the successful events category because I’m romping around in a quieter zone.

The only concern I have is the boss timers, and how some people will honestly not be able to do the bosses, realistically. However… this is such a freaking easy fix (add more boss spawns, change the timers, etc) that I’m not even worried. ArenaNet is so good at listening to feedback and making changes (despite what people say, I’ve never been involved in a developer-player community that is this close and responsive) that I know they’ll make things better for everyone in the end.

Why this is a great improvement IMO is that it will make toon leveling so much more fun as we can now do it with more then just 1 or 2 people per map (for the low level areas). It allows us to actually interact with all the people who play Guild Wars and not get frustrated because they can’t understand you.

I am also worried about the boss timers, but then again this is just the beginning, and we haven’t even tried playing on these servers yet. I am sure that the Anet team will have it work out in the end.

in Thief

“Countering” the thieves stealth stomp depends completely on the amount of people trying to oppose. I play a thief and can tell you straight that if I am fighting 3 or less and I get one down, there is nothing to stop me from finishing. This is because of my blind on stealth. If however there are a few people then AoE/cc will “counter” it easily

Exotic gear frustrations

I’m sorry if this offends, but this post is pathetic. Exotic gear is really easy to get. Costs a couple gold to get full gear of average looking gear, and if you want your guy to look good, then just put a little more time into it. This renders the thief completely useless until he can relearn this ingrained timing to work with the new revealed timing.

Learning the necessary timing of your class skills in a variety of situations is pretty much the norm for any class in any game.

I don’t think you read. Please tell me another class that has a particular timing that they rely on, that changes depending if they are in WvW or PvP?

I do understand this, but if you played a thief (maybe you do) then you would understand how much they rely on stealth. increasing the debuff that stops stealth’s use and you completely ruin all that thiefs ingrained timings and combos.

This renders the thief completely useless until he can relearn this ingrained timing to work with the new revealed timing.

Then he wants to go back to WvW, and do you know? Yes that’s right, you have to re-learn the timings again.

PvP Revieled debuff for thief

Dehvi.1435

I was asked to duel a friend in PvP heart of the mists today and had an absolutely horrible experience. The revealed debuff that thieves get after hitting an enemy while in stealth lasts for 1 or 2 seconds longer then it does in PvE and WvW. It completely throws my timings off for all of my abilities and all I get is a drained initiative bar and a dead thief.

This makes no sense to me at all, why change the timings for something like that from WvW to PvP? Especially for such a huge mechanic in thief.

Edit: I do not play much sPvP and this is why I have only noticed this now.

I haven’t played the game no but have seen others play it and it didn’t grab my attention. I am not looking for something that is done in other games because I want to play Guild Wars 2. That is the game I want to play and I love playing it. The only reason for my post was to say one thing. Duels with PVE armour would be cool. I am not wanting to switch to another game or play GW differently, I only want to say that that extra option would be enjoyable to me
