my original Guild Wars 2 install is in the ‘Program Files (x86)’ folder, and I move the 64-bit exe to that same folder, will it affect how the 64-bit client runs? From my understanding, the x86 folder is for 32-bit programs.
It’s not reserved for 32-bit programs (it’s just a Microsoft effort to keep things organized), you can run 64-bit programs just fine from there.
[FUG/SG/TDT] on the Jade Quarry
No memory leaks detected so far. For memory use look at the programs memory private bytes & working set, and not to the memory in use & reserved at OS level (which is normal to end in less and less free memory, since Windows will keep loaded files in memory until that space is needed for something else, would be a waste of hardware otherwise; and it’s not caused by “memory leak”).
There could be memory leaks, but those are the same in 32-bit version too (if any).
About how to install, read first post of the devs. No need to download the entire game, allow the 64-bit exe and the UI through the firewall and let it add a few 64-bit files, just a small download. Create new shortcut. It’s all described on first page. Also it’s optional.
So far all is great, no fps drop at all, it’s like before, just more memory is in use and less time needed to load things once they were loaded. Some systems could have driver specific issues. If doesn’t work on yours, just use the old 32-bit shortcut, the setup folder is not corrupted and the data is never 64-bit (there is no 64-bit or 32-bit jpg for example), only executables and dependencies are, not the resources, so that is shared between 32-bit and 64-bit executables.

Works perfectly so far, 3GB memory in use, ultra settings, Win7 64-bit on GTX 970.

Sorry I wholeheartedly intend, to take my small group and run through that invisible fountain and surprise the hell out of you and laugh the whole time. We might still die as we will probably be outnumbered but it will be fun
A zerg can already be stealthed by using mesmer veils, chained. Go ahead and laugh, that’s fine. As long as there’s someone to “surprise the hell out”. Because those who love to fight can find less and less fights, even on Jade Quarry, and I consider all timezones: fights are scarce. Spending hours to find something enjoyable, it’s not a fun experience for those who are in WvW for the thrill of conflict, massive battles, or even small scale intense fights (not the ganking from stealth and running away if fails – kind of “fights”)
[FUG/SG/TDT] on the Jade Quarry
I already posted on this, read it here:

Tl;dr – Playing against stealth in current implementation, is not a fun experience.
[FUG/SG/TDT] on the Jade Quarry
That stealth fountain it’s a horrible idea.
I loved WvW because those (very) rare fights that lasted for a while, where each side could win. Not because all that prankish foolery (called “cheese”) and one sided “good laughs”, that have no place in a long lasting PvP. RvR it’s not a 5mins birthday clown battle, keep that around those “Box o’ Fun” in PvE.
For us who love fights, design choices like these are more than disappointing. If you don’t want us in your game, keep it up like this.
[FUG/SG/TDT] on the Jade Quarry
This doesn’t solve the problem, but at least your post is constructive.
Stealth in this game – it’s very annoying to deal with. Has nothing to do with thief, it’s just as bad on mesmer, engie, ranger, or anything stealthed by somebody else: it’s potentially a large damage incoming from nowhere, which can mitigated or evaded in the best case. It’s far worse when this is about a group of 4-5 “gankers” that can hit you all at once from nowhere.
Now one maybe know how to react: don’t stand in a place, be ready to react, have proper build to be able to respond, use surroundings, and so on. All that doesn’t matter: you may win a fight against a stealthed class, or let it run away (because chasing it’s not really entertaining), but in the end — was not a fun fight. Very rarely it is. It’s really all about fun.
It’s true that most of the times, what is fun for one, may not be fun for the other. This has to be solved at design, then tested; to keep it fun for both sides. Both using stealth and playing against stealth. And this is true to all other things: CC, burst, DoT, teleport, evade, …
I don’t cry about stealth, just trying to make clear why it’s “hated”.
I started on thief, and played mesmer for 1+ years as main. In the beginning I used stealth offensively on thief. Every kill felt cheap, like cheating. Wasn’t fun for those killed, I’m sure of that. Most people simply run away, and I let them because a game that is not fun for both sides, will be soon a dead game. Why would one spend time in a game that is not fun for them? On mesmer I avoided stealth, except to escape. But even that felt cheap.
If your enemy can’t hit back a few times (even if you evaded or blocked those hits), if either sides doesn’t have a chance of winning (at least a semblance of hope), and the “fight” means just a few sparks that one can’t even see because server lag and worse ping than the rival, in a fight system that allows a stun opener, followed by a huge burst… and add stealth on top of this… ends in a bitter experience.
Winning or losing doesn’t matter in PvP, but enjoying the fight does. Has to be fun, for both sides. That’s what leads to people coming back and wanting more fights like this. This way everyone gets better, and a fight between good players is incredible fun.
Tl;dr – Playing against stealth in current implementation, is not a fun experience.

Stability buff change needs adjusted again. Some conditions are overdone: immob can last too much, burn it’s too powerful. Stealth is just as game breaking as ever, classes that rely on that need a complete overhaul (replaced with evades). Damage is too high overall. Healing power stat is too weak. Revenant can’t solve all these.
How exactly to change these, it’s up to testing results. The “pirate ship” meta is not fun; and I play as ranged. What currently is happening is just silly, please devs test playing as melee in WvW. Adjust values for WvW separately when that is needed (already it is in some cases) and based on test results, hard to guess how each plays out.
[FUG/SG/TDT] on the Jade Quarry
WvW is a balance between those that want fights and those who do not. Whether fight guilds use a server TS or not doesn’t really matter; they still play an active role in assisting the server by wiping the enemy zerg so players like you – who prefer to ppt, which is perfectly okay – can freely cap.
Signed, a GvGer in T2 <3
Both of those are extremes:
1. we only consume the fights
2. we will sit on siege until the enemy is in, then waypoint away to not feed them bags and not give them fight, so they will log out bored
There is a third category, what I would consider as being normal RvR play: those who enjoy taking and defending objectives WHILE FIGTHTING in both of those.
I hate fighting for the sake of fights only, and also hate being semi-afk during sieges; that’s what using siege means, or waiting others to use it (most are just watching, what else can do)… only to take an – empty objective.
Sometimes the defenders fight back, which is fun, if there is a meaning fighting.
Nothing is worse than having a fight a group on the map that kills the enemy zerg on their own. Feels like they consumed the topping on the cake, and you are left with to eat the rest. Some may like eating the rest, but some of us want the whole.
This is what WvW should be; everyone on the map playing as being part of a single team, not unconnected islands, doing their own bidding. The GvG scene needs a completely different game mode, not castle sieges, and WvW is not that game mode.
We don’t have fight focused game modes at all, sPvP is all about reaching 500 points by any means, and killing gives far less than capping. It’s is very sad, because the GW2 fight system is well done, (except the prankish stealth and one shoot kill parts), and would be much fun. A game mode focused on PvP, 1v1, 5v5, 10v10, 15v15, 20v20, 35v35, nothing more than 80 on a map on current hardware, where only killling matters, nothing else – no capping, no siege, no walls, no casuals crafting and doing map completion, and no managing centaurs.

First of all, kudos to Anet for trying to reduce lag and all the work done towards a more responsive game!
Speaking about the WvW side of things only, currently the game allows to start skills more quickly (accepts the commands and most of the time executes it), so more can be cast. This is the plus side. The bad part is that is more frequent the teleporting around and instant being hit with huge damage, and this in large zerg fights of over 120 players or more in a WvW clash.
So while we can do more miracles, we are also being hit with more such miracles, out of nowhere. But this is most likely related to the servers being overloaded in such moments; it’s very clear that the servers can’t handle a clash of 120+ and you allow about 80×3= 240 three way fights. In such fights is worse than was before, because it’s not better than was (nothing works, we can just walk, rarely we get any numbers on skill 1), but now we are randomly teleported around more frequently (it’s rare though). You have to ignore these moments and tune to normal server load. Allowing 120+ on a map its’ very much company policy related to spending on WvW hosting, or you just want huge “epic” fights (we want too, even larger fights), but the current server hardware (and software) won’t allow it. Either reduce players skills in WvW (special builds), player numbers to 40 max. on each side or get 2015+ hardware (year 2100 or 2500, with quantum processing) or we will have to “enjoy” lag.
[FUG/SG/TDT] on the Jade Quarry
What is “consistent action”? If you mean constant action, then there is none. Not even the tier 1, EU or NA included (NA = North America, EU = Europe)
24/7 = constant = nowhere
You should say where you are currently, in which timezone you play (even if in every timezones randomly), then someone will answer something vague, because nobody but Anet knows.
My guess is that most likely the higher tiers have more action, though not sure what is “small group”? Two, five, ten… I’ve seen a “roaming” guild with 20+, they were just “ganking” around the map (not taking any objectives, except camps maybe or sentries). Let’s say you mean a group of about 5… Even in tier 1 can happen in certain days & timezones that there’s nothing at comparable size (I guess you won’t hit a group of 20, and against less… I wouldn’t call that “action”). It’s all random.
The short answer: likely a few tiers above, but sometimes that’s not true. Who knows, maybe there is a roaming server.

The AC is still very bad currently because backline can’t stand in AC fire and there’s no way to avoid it, no way to fight under AC fire — it’s the end of PvP (unless siege wars are considered PvP too, a different kind anyway). It’s very unfair, because shooting with an AC requires no knowledge, and still wipes out even the most skilled players, thus encourages unskilled play. IF the AC was meant as a way to end fights, then should be fixed weapon (like the cannon for example), well thought out why and where, and tested of course. Allowing it to be placed anywhere, it’s just a huge failure. Was tolerable in the first months, because the damage was low, but the game needed more ingenious solutions – the opposite to the increase in siege damage that followed.
Defending can be helped by adjusting wall & gate HP (if it’s about giving more time), limiting how many siege is allowed to hit it (so having 20 golems or 15 rams wouldn’t do go through faster than 5 golems or 5 rams for example), creating better, fixed to objective defensive solutions (protected cannons, oils, new items, placed in useful positions), giving +20% (or higher) health and damage to defenders inside the Lord room circle + debuffs to attackers if the group size ratio between attacker/defender is higher than 2x times, adding more defensive tools inside the walls (deadly traps, static buff/debuff circles), … and so on. Then test these and adjust.

The OP is right. The same is true on an ele, has nothing to do with thief. A very bad design (most likely wasn’t made for WvW like most other things). The projectiles should originate where they are visually depicted, not under your foot.

Gotta admit that outfit looks pretty cool on your charr. Gotta dig that Indiana Jones look.
Also i feel ya. Hold out it will be over soon.
Thanks mate
I actually don’t mind the spawn camping. During weeks like this, you get lawnmower’ed by the blob anyway so I find fights at my doorsteps rather convenient. I simply don’t get why people throw sieges, especially since fights will be scarce for FSP as well. Why not enjoy the smallscale on a fair level?
Agreed. Right here is the reason why WvW turns into PvE: siege that can be placed everywhere, players that do that and Anet that considers that all is working as intended (and maybe it is). This is not a game for us, those who love a good fight, a competition where the rival has the chance to fight back and win.
Of course that’s not the whole server, and on all servers are those who do things like that. It’s just an example of bad game design, or unintended failure – both asking for a fix. After 3 years.
Thanks OP for making a funny post, even from a situation like this. Indeed, no skills are involved there. It’s a very sad picture, that still makes me smile. It’s a perfect picture of the bittersweet state of the WvW game mode.
[FUG/SG/TDT] on the Jade Quarry
It’s so bad that is a complete waste of time to give any feedback on how to fix it. Just remove it or replace it with something useful. I will be happy if I can avoid it. I don’t even comment on warhorn. Start over. Or rather do something else: allow us to place a regular skill in elite slot for example, re-design stealth, fix… so many things.
[FUG/SG/TDT] on the Jade Quarry
All this “Tempest” is for what? Dungeons, general PvE, sPvP, WvW, EoTM, Fractals, or what? For everyhting I guess, but I don’t see anything at all useful, or at least nothing that could compete with what we already have. Brings a mix of everything, but excels in nothing. No way I would ever stay longer in attunement than needed just for a …gimmick, that keeps me locked in the same attunement for what?
These could become useful in certain isolated niche situations, but why waste time on bringing more problems into the game, instead of refining what we had. It’s all just quantity over quality. Shinies I guess. Because that’s what sells. But in the long term? Ready to deal with all that mess that follows: imbalance, bugs, exploits, even more lag? – and that’s just thinking about the WvW side of things.
I’m all in favor of change, but only if that means improving things, not adding just for the sake of creating hype. Now it’s too late: changes were already made, work done, sales started. Cannot be undone. I don’t like it at all, and that’s the nicest thing I can say about the whole HoT effort, except a few QoL improvements here and there. And yes, I pre-ordered it, just to support your game.
[FUG/SG/TDT] on the Jade Quarry
And that’s the biggest problem of GW2: tries to be everything for everyone, though PvE (dealing with “AI”) and PvP (against humans) are very different. No need to go off-topic here, just as exceptions were made up to now (confusion for example does higher in PVE), those should continue and both PvE and PvP has to be improved. Healing would be, and it is, most useful in WvW. Still, people love to heal and revive even in PvE, just because it’s fun and is great – except rewarding that in a system not designed to do that for anything but damage dealt. That’s why mixing it with outgoing damage and balancing to make it fair seems the best outcome. Or just ignore healing power completely (I do), and move on.
[FUG/SG/TDT] on the Jade Quarry
I put together a fix for a pretty nasty performance issue on our game servers. This should make it into our next release so I’d be curious to see if it makes a noticeable improvement. The bug looks like it was introduced around when this thread popped up.
I also got a couple client improvements that should help reduce framerate hitching with lower-mid range video cards and/or higher shader settings. Coming next release, too.
-Bill
Wvw improved for me after you did maintenance some days ago, PvE got worse, the mobs ported all over the place. That’s gone, I think since wvw reset last night but the wvw “lags” (it’s not really lags, I just can’t properly hit and my opponents seem to port from time to time) are back.
I hope that weren’t the changes you meant but the real ones are still to comeNope. Changes to the game server almost always (aside from when we do things like disable content, etc) come from a new game build. The server maintenance the other day wasn’t part of the game server whatsoever.
-Bill
Thanks for posting here, much appreciated. The game has many bugs, it’s almost normal to some extent, it’s very complex, so hunting these, checking results and constantly improving it is essential. Many thanks for letting us know about.
We still getting lags, but it’s better in the last few days or weeks… except from time to time. If we are quiet, it’s because we either have given up or because things are fine – or a bit both
Was already answered by Anet devs and it’s not an ideea that all of us like, but maybe limiting total player numbers to 90, 30 on each side and adding more maps – could create a smoother WvW-PvP experience, with less extreme lag moments. Adding more resource intensive calculations (like the stability change and not only) doesn’t help reducing lag. But it’s not up to us, devs and players, we are in this together, but the decisions are made a bit at higher level unfortunately.
[FUG/SG/TDT] on the Jade Quarry
Removing Healing Power is one solution, but maybe it’s too late and it’s included on many items.
The other option I think may make it useful, on par with the rest of stats, is by making it similar to Precision: add a chance on every hit – received – to heal x amount. For example; 25% chance to gain 100 health on every hit received. It’s up to Anet balance team to decide if the 0% to 100% chance on being hit or the amount of healing received on being hit – or both, to be affected by healing power. This has to be balanced in favor of attacker, because “being hit” is a passive play, but still has to be significant enough to be considered useful.
Or the previous ideea, but healing received, based on your outgoing damage, a percent of damage or just fixed amount on every hit. In each case not tied to healing skills and regeneration or anything, so those can be balanced separately and Healing Power still kept useful, but not overpowered or alowed to encourage passive play. Healing could be even shared on hit, adding more support, without making a healer class.

So if you want to come up to T1 and replace the dead wood, we have openings! Please have a sense of server pride and care about being a part of a larger community. TY
I love the people who think we’re dead to them because we leave a server. You’re welcome for all the work we did for Jade Quarry.
I’m just glad your deplorable opinion isn’t shared by many of my other friends on the server .
It isn’t. Beyond that, TW are JQ natives and are always welcome as dear friends.
They left exactly because “empty maps” i.e. the good fights lately become a rare commodity and the players are trying to save their preferred game mode by themselves. Good changes are needed desperately, because every WvW player lost makes the situation worse.
[FUG/SG/TDT] on the Jade Quarry
(edited by Delta.2093)
We all log into PvE mode – because we can’t avoid it. What Mike said it is true to some extent: we “play” most or every game mode… but WHY?
Ask us please, add an in-game or launcher option to vote which is our preferred game mode, and beyond that, if only one of those can be improved and supported financially, which one we would like that to be?
There are many games that focus dungeons, small scale PvP, all kind of story PvE – and are built to be the best doing those things. The WvW of GW2 it’s still the only option for us who like – large scale RvR – games. It’s not just an end-game or mini game mode for us – but the whole reason we all still here.
We are sad because your WvW could be so much more, if development were focused on keeping it a PvP and not adding more and more PvE into (siege vs. player for example, player vs. NPC, player vs. gates). Large scale PvP content always has something new, because the players involved. It’s easier to keep it fresh – but still needs new things from time to time. There are so many to improve and fix, starting with coverage, guild alliances, real skill level based balancing, removing NPC and non-fixed siege (or complete redesign to prevent making PvP pointless), WvW specific rewards based on effort-skill level-contribution and so on.
And why not, instead of your PvE focused HoT expansion, give us a WvW exclusive expansion (you won’t, but I would be happy to not have to be kicked to LA during WvW battles when you are fixing… that “living” story… so happy when you do that). So Mike it’s true in OP – sadly, we are all just PvE players, because that’s what GW2 it is – with some semblance of RvR, that still converted so many PvE players into PvP, and maybe a few from PvP into “loving” PvE (think about k-train and pvdooring).
[FUG/SG/TDT] on the Jade Quarry
OP, if you can’t fight back properly; by not noticing them (or at least not letting them know that), then stay at least afk until they leave. Never let them know that you are bothered. They can’t “win” if they can’t see that you are bothered. Just play normally like they are not there at all. Mute sounds if needed. Collect evidence, screenshots, maybe video, if you want to fight them that way (depends on what happened/was written) and send to Anet. But these actions won’t turn bullies into better people. They will always exist, and if you can’t deal with them, find someone who can. “Ignoring them” it’s already fighting back.
Regardless of details, of what whas described & proposed, we should never side with harassers and trolls, no matter what. Some can’t fight back. If anything more can be done to help those in need, we should support that. One day we may need it too.
[FUG/SG/TDT] on the Jade Quarry
It seems to me that the OP is being very intolerant of the diverse community within GW2. The OP has no respect for the diverse culture of people present, nor tolerance for those that think differently from the OP. My advice for the OP is to have more empathy and be more open-minded.
Yay! This is the solution! Should be added into the Charter of the United Nations too. A huge step forward for the mankind. /endOfJoking

[FUG/SG/TDT] on the Jade Quarry
I think you missing the point here, with the “I like it as it is” & “I don’t like it”. Feedback is great and so on, but why not make it better (without breaking it of course). Take the siege weapon upgrading for example (where you have to place each piece one by one and then click on that slow pop-up to receive it), and so many similar examples of clicking and clicking endlessly in an UI, which is not fun, it’s worse, but… should be fun, right?
Let us skip, automate, buy or create in packs… even if you feel the need to “time gate” certain actions (such as crafting for example, where at least we don’t have to click ONE BY ONE to create 5,000 Mango Pies), because it’s not just annoying, but it’s literally painful to do it.
#playingforFUN
[FUG/SG/TDT] on the Jade Quarry
It’s the internet, humans are bad, get tougher skin.
Not “humans” are bad, just those, their actions. What if we start harassing back? Should this game turn into who can harass better?
Luckily these cases are rare, but that doesn’t mean that we should ignore them or side with trolls. Neither it’s acceptable.
[FUG/SG/TDT] on the Jade Quarry
Or they can just give an option to close automatically any such pop-up after x seconds. Also a customizable UI, with a way to add, hide, move around, resize.
#wearewaybeyond2000
[FUG/SG/TDT] on the Jade Quarry
I agree with the OP. We need a far better system, not just to hide these (which is fine as temporary solution), but to have a human GM online to stop them. By not having these in place, trolls are actually encouraged to “have fun” this way, since they can get away without consequences.
Or maybe this is a game where these actions are allowed and encouraged, and “overly sensitive” people, “with no sense of humor” should not buy & play this.
[FUG/SG/TDT] on the Jade Quarry
I have to add that what I posted in the first post it’s not constant, but was on the day I posted that. Yesterday was fine. Even in larger battles, the lag was minimal. Maybe Anet needs a “Server Status” page, that informs us if they have hardware problems (this can happen from time to time, it’s normal), or maintenance running in background or similar. Testing included.
Off-topic, but the slow motion or similar solutions can be adjusted, to prevent them, by limiting player numbers, skill operations and so on, scaled to what the server hardware can handle. These are already in done in GW2 (from what I’ve seen in dev posts), but all companies can still learn from each other, to push tech limitations further, and especially what I meant there; to design software parts in such ways, as to prevent situations where the hardware can’t cope.
[FUG/SG/TDT] on the Jade Quarry
“Lag” can’t even describe what’s happening right now and lately in a medium (~30vs30) to larger WvW fight (~50vs50) – it’s a complete failure. 4-5 seconds (and longer!!) of skill delay it’s completely inappropriate, for a PvP based gameplay.
Test your game, your hardware and don’t stop monitoring. Learn from EVE Online or anyone, don’t care where, what’s needed for a large scale PvP to work. Just no words how bad it is the reaction form your servers. And no, it’s not our internet (it is sometimes), but this is about your servers: hardware and software on your servers.
Don’t just believe me or anyone: test it, go play your own game, pay people from around the world if needed, to test it — with tools you provide — it’s all there.
[FUG/SG/TDT] on the Jade Quarry
I agree, the player who spends gold for upgrades, should receive a reward, whatever that would be: +% WXP & MF gain boon according to amount spent for example and more, or points that can be converted into outfits or those boosters sold in gem shop.
[FUG/SG/TDT] on the Jade Quarry
Most WvW guilds care about their server, and that’s why they provide a commander tag/pin – not because they have an obligation to do so. Everytime they do that, it’s a privilege to follow them. This is their contribution to the long term survival of a realm: by becoming a “school”, where new players have a chance to learn WvW with less stress and even enjoy WvW from the start. But this is a heavy burden, and gets even worse when “PUG’s” don’t listen (chasing randoms, attacking anything on sight, even if asked to skip or stay hidden, and so on). Some new players don’t even read map chat… try to “lead” them. These are mostly exceptions thankfully. And the worse of them are those who “know better” what should be done, and just troll endlessly.
In the end, we all are and should be – grateful, when a good guild, provides a commander, allowing everyone to play with them. It’s a gift from them. You can play together, without being part of that guild. A thank you in the end, is the least they deserve. When they run without a pin, they have reasons for that, not because they are “such excluding kittens”… Join them, and find out. Or just ask, many times they may give an answer.
But even if WvW guilds are evil, you can step up – and you should. Not by trolling and backseat commanding, but by communicating with everyone online on the map, working together with those who answer, and contributing. Every bit helps. In time, by doing this, you will learn all the “secrets”, and you will be able to help those who are new. One step at a time. By expecting less, and contributing more. Not just in this game…
[FUG/SG/TDT] on the Jade Quarry
I would pay for a WvW focused expansion, with most of those things asked/proposed on this forum included – but not another EoTM or similar…
They should make a survey about this, included on launcher or using the in-game mail system, and ask us, if we would pay for such an expansion, and if yes, how much.
But… it’s a bit too late already for all this. Living Story is the only part of the game they see it as the future of GW2. The rest is just “bonus” there, and will stay mostly as it is, for a long time.
[FUG/SG/TDT] on the Jade Quarry
When the action on a BL is light there is no need for a tag. You see something that needs to be done and you do it. I stick to our home BL and represent our little guild of 2 people, the wife and myself. If there is a push on a keep or tower and they call for people I will go, tag or no tag. If there is a camp to flip I will flip it. If there is a tower to capture I will set up a cata myself and start hammering away, eventually people will come over or I map call for help when the wall is down.
Too many people are sheep and need the tag to be effective. I do not have a tag, neither does the wife but there are many times we will have half a dozen people following us because we do what needs to be done. If there is a ktrain running we normally avoid it and go capture camps or other objectives, set up siege, refresh when needed, repair as required. Do not put yourself in the position where you need to be told what to do, find things that need to be done and do it.
This guy is made out of win and decision making.
lol
This guy is what we would call a Militia member as opposed to a pug. Your amount of militia members and their level of activity/ability to work with wvw guilds determines what tier you are actually in.
Agreed on all this. Every player can and should contribute, far more than just following a pin/tag, and being “lost” when there’s none. A single player can kill a dolyak, a sentry, take a camp – but all those are easier and more fun in a group of 2-5. Five man group is very easy to form; just ask in map chat, and sooner or later more players will join you – or just let other know where you are headed, someone will most likely come to help (even without joining your party). “Our group of 2, 3 and so on” heading to take north camp, NE tower, please bring more supply, we will place rams/cata, and so on.
The more such “groups” or individuals you have on all maps, the more alive your server it is – and even “non-PPT” servers (like T2 for example) need some PPT – but this is more than just that, it’s meaningful contribution. You can choose to prefer fights too: take a camp/tower important for your enemy, and sooner or later, they will try to take it back. Bunkering in with siege weapons, or just fighting openly them, it’s all up to you then.
If a large group comes, and you can’t win… that’s the same whether you are following a commander or not.
But if you wish for large groups fights, then start your own WvW guild or join one of them. Become a commander. Don’t expect others to provide you with everything ready. Try all these and you will understand how frustrating it is, when you try your best, and always there are those “backseat commanders” who know better, those who always have to say something negative. Since that’s the easiest way out: I will just find a “good commander”, and will tag along… WvW is just a mindless zerg & karma training anyway, and those lousy (lol) WvW guilds should provide all these at no charge, to everyone – they are after all, paid to just serve us, right? So we can just sit back and watch and criticize… or troll map chat with how bored we are.
Tl;dr – Step up and contribute, following a commander is just one of many ways to play, not the only one or the best – and if it is… become one, form a group or join one.

I agree with Tarkus (OP) on this – it is very bad, and what’s worse: it’s been a long time since these are… ignored (?) by Anet or whoever should care.
And it’s not just wasting supply deliberately – some of them just “take over” map chat, insulting everyone, making racist remarks (against “asians”, “french”, “canadians”, …) and hate speeches, and so on. We can report/block/ignore – that’s nice… but not really – because the next day they are still there, and the day after… Anyone cares to check the chat logs after players being reported and see at least the insults there?
We need a few players choosen by each WvW community, from their most trusted members, given the right to temporarily “ban” chating, taking over siege, taking supply, placing supply (and similar) actions from these individuals. Spending time in this game should be fun, not intoxicated by these… (add the most negative words to describe them… )
Stop ignoring these reports. Feels like you support them. What can we do more? Please tell us. Exploiters & hackers are already in advantage – we need to make videos & screenshots, and send it to your exploit email… not everyone can do that. You should have at least from time to time a presence in this game, hunting down these problems. Contacting community leaders and working together with them, would be a huge step. We can’t solve these – you can.

This should have been in the game since day 1. Now it’s far too late. Faithful players are the most important asset of any RvR realm, those who never leave, no matter what. They give a meaning to the game, that nothing else can give. We still have those, who live this way, even unrewarded and forgotten, and it’s the greatest honor and privilege, to log into a game playing alongside such people, or meet them in battle. Ganking those red named “elite” “skilled enemies” for good loot and fun… pales, behind being in one team with those people, who give a meaning to the word “team” – no matter what the game mode tryes to do (attack castles, hold points, win fights, gather resources, anything). Would have been a fundamental game design decision, but this is not such a game, was not, and it’s too late now.
[FUG/SG/TDT] on the Jade Quarry
To Moderators: this is about less and less players in WvW – NOT a match-up thread. Thank You!
JQ is still alive, but not “overstacked”. It’s all relative; compared to our rivals, we look like that in SEA timezone, and almost outmanned during NA. That’s because they have even less players active lately… when we have 2 maps almost empty (except scouts) during SEA.
Most (or all) our WvW guilds gets smaller and smaller day by day, with lots of inactives, and we play less than ever – mostly logging in to meet each other and help our community. Even our “enemies” are dear these days, since good WvW players are “rare commodity” lately, and without them, “good fights” are gone.
These are facts, not a “WvW is dying” cry. New players still come to WvW, but their numbers are less. This is normal sadly, and was expected. If outmanned is at home in T1, MOST of the time, then the rest of tiers are barren lands. Maybe in your timezone there is some activity from time to time, at least on one of the maps.
Also I won’t blame Anet devs… and those above them, who had the power to change things, maybe were not interested to invest more in WvW and turn it into a working RvR + GvG gamestyle. It’s about money after all, and that’s not bad in itself. We had much fun in WvW in the past, and sometimes, we still have, thanks to our great rivals. Salutes to WvW players from everywhere, for bringing life into this WvW.

Broad paintbrush: “all T1 stacked, blob-centric servers only play for PPT and no one there knows how to fight or is skilled.”
Realistic photo: many good players on all servers (including T1) have a lot of experience from other games as well as GW2, enjoy fights and are skilled.
Balanced view: WvW players have different expectations about how they want to play their particular type of WvW.
That’s true.
Also there are many new players, who are “unskilled” compared to those who played in WvW for a long time already. They are not welcome in “skilled” GvG groups, and are considered rally-bots (they mostly are) and forbidden to even follow “skilled” groups. How will they learn and where they can improve, if not in WvW?
In a fairy tale, long time ago, WvW meant to be a battlefield of large scale fights – with thousands of players… actually less than 100 per team. Not a 15vs15 or so, “highly skilled” (…) groups fighting for… (not sure for what, for “fun” or “fame”), and excluding those who… are not good enough yet. But it’s not the players fault after all, WvW “evolved” into this, and those who could decide and change the fate of this game mode are… nowhere to be found. (Not the devs, they just are just workers…)

This video continues repeating the same line, that we already heard before from BG: “An honorable battle was not presented”. All that is packed in a tone used by real word nations to promote their hate propaganda before an armed conflict (yes, they are both always “right”).
This season was a fail, everyone knew the “winners” from the start, no reasons to “celebrate” such “competition”. We all served our realms, as well as we could, and sometimes even beyond. Two tier 1 servers had to work together, to stop the BG war machine from claiming “victory”, but it seems that not from further boasting… Those who never gave up, are not just on BG. But we need a bit of modesty to accept that. Less crying about how unfair the fate was with us, and more respect towards those who provide us with awesome fights. “You are judged by the quality of your enemies”, and without that, WvW is empty or just boring fights.
The 2v1 was “honorable”, or more exactly, has nothing to do with that word: was not cheating, was not against the rules, was not “unethical” (as being wrong) – and was the only way to stop that huge force amassed on BG. We had to do that, unless you prefer dumb enemies. And because we “had to”, the season was a fail. Now we at least have the decency to not brag about “winning”.
All servers had unsung heroes, core WvW players, a “dying breed” these days, who made great efforts for their servers, BG included. Much respect to them, greetings from JQ. /salute
[FUG/SG/TDT] on the Jade Quarry
The whole idea is that people who either don’t play gw2 yet or who don’t play WvW will see these and want to get involved.
Cheesy vids like the one in OP, won’t attract anyone but boasting, bully type people (and you already have a quite large “collection” of those). These ostentatious presentations are the expression of that part of BG which drives others in 2v1, or Xv1 against your server. Too bad for those on BG who are both modest and skillful, old time RvR players, who deserve to be honored even by their enemies, and who provide good fights in tier 1 – because they are worthy enemies. But we all need time to “grow up” it seems, and understand that WvW is more like a team sport, where real friends are in rival teams, and fight each other with dedication and honor – and not a war of hatred & bigotry.
There are many players on BG (and on all servers) who deserve our respect, true WvW players, who are really unbroken and it’s a great honor to meet them in battle. They don’t need to make boasting vids, making noise is for those who lack substance. But if you really want to promote WvW gameplay, please, show a bit more decency. We all role-play a bit, but there is a line which should not be crossed (called… sanity).
[FUG/SG/TDT] on the Jade Quarry
“Winning” has nothing to do with this “tournament”. It’s just war as usual, with too much whining from those who thought that they can become “winners” (not just from BG, every server has their cry babies, and they always find something to complain about: why we are being 2v1 or why “we” 2v1?). When we will have a competition that gives fairly equal chances to all, then we can talk about winners; until then we can have only losers.
And Anet, please no more such “competition”. Not until you
1. unite all EU and US servers into a three WvW realm system,
2. work out the details of rewarding loyalty to realm (like +10% or more health for being longer than 6 month in a world, and -20% less health for newly transferred, and so on)
3. redesign PPT gain around holding objectives, not taking and abandoning them
4. redesign classes around WvW game mode
5. implement a guild focused grouping system, up to 50 players with leader and sub-commanders
6. build WvW realm system around guild alliances and give meaningful bonuses to the guilds who contribute the most, (like flags and cloaks with special effects for the leading guilds and so on)
… yes, GW3 or a WvW expansion is needed for that
Kudos to all who still endured WvW as it is and thanks for the quality opposition, the good fights from those who did well in the past months (1year+ since WvW started). We cannot do more for now, just serve the interests of our worlds. Much respect for those who can act with dignity, in victory or defeat, and everything in-between.
[FUG/SG/TDT] on the Jade Quarry
This was very funny, just imagining how this could play out. Would end badly, destroying the game (very good arguments in prev posts), sure, but just think a moment how fun would be to be able to kill those most annoying players?
Nice to see AGG “still alive and kicking” too.
[FUG/SG/TDT] on the Jade Quarry
WvW is not the main game mode in GW2 but PvE, and the game was not build around RvR gameplay. The servers being separated between EU and NA creates coverage problems. Transfers makes this even worse. There are no bonuses for those who stay in their home world (should be, very significant bonuses, and penalties for those who transfer). And now these latest changes move a step forward and destroy even the illusion of being part of something. Maybe it’s needed, since the maps are emptier each day, there are less and less active players (on all servers)…
If the day will come when we no longer are part of “our world”, then those of us who fought for that, will no longer have ANY reasons to play. Then the game will belong to those who doesn’t care of that “detail”.
I don’t believe that Anet tries to “destroy” the WvW game mode, but will be almost impossible now, to not to. “Change will come into the world…”, and cannot be stopped.
[FUG/SG/TDT] on the Jade Quarry
lol, I’ve seen that many times
Imagine the hard job of refreshing those and arranging them properly (there are different “artwork” solution, like “Stonehenge” circle, or statues near each pillar like in greek temples, these “chinese terracotta army”, and many others…)
[FUG/SG/TDT] on the Jade Quarry
That’s good to hear! Our graphs are showing improvement too, but it’s good to hear from you guys that it’s gotten better.
It’s better than before, skill lag is still there, but at least it’s not unplayable. Whatever was changed, it’s in the right direction – but go on, and do even more if possible, using the comparison data on the code – before this patch (bad lag) and after (improved).
Also, maybe not directly related – but could be: options to skip sending customization data, and display one set armor and weapons (something choosen by us client side, same light, medium and heavy armor for everyone, including us), and thus reduce load on both server, network and client, could help a bit both server lag and client performance, including immersion (too many silly wings and “titles” and effects vs. a WvW world specific army uniform). Optional for those who want/need it, those who would do anything to improve reaction times even further.
When doesn’t matter your part, since lag kills you – then the game is over. Lag still isn’t solved, just improved a bit – and the next patch can destroy this improvement again. This WvW league should have been delayed until lag is reduced enough.
[FUG/SG/TDT] on the Jade Quarry
No, the above workaround doesn’t work – a PvE map loaded fine, but as long as I switched to a WvW map is back again.
And there’s no option to turn it off. You either “love it” or quit playing.
Dear Anet! You know what would make me laugh? Fixing your terrible laggy WvW. Adding options to customize UI – like removing your awesome story reminders. And adding option to end “jokes” that we don’t like.
If I make a bad joke ever, and I see that the I hurt somebody with that, I would not be able to laugh anymore. But I need “therapy” it seems, so go on, 4th of July or 1st of April, doesn’t matter, we all are in the mood of laughing (and if not, it’s our fault). Cheer up, nothing happened, play on. I won’t.
[FUG/SG/TDT] on the Jade Quarry
Workaround: set your system date to 4th or further, disable automatic time updating service and similar.
Those who want to keep this, set your system time to 1th April and keep it that way (adjust every day).
No comment on the rest.

After the usual queue I got in the WvW and had to see this horrible “joke”? You think it’s funny? No, I don’t have any sense of humor at all… What if someone would hack all your source codes and delete all your data? Where is the limit one can go to “have fun”?
I exited to windows and got back to game and queue… and the “bug” is back. Switched borderland and nothing changed… Will try a few times starting again and again. Really hate this game.
Go ahead and laugh Anet!

“Duel” option and it’s consequences can be viewed differently by each of us, and we have different expectations. State your position, bring arguments, and allow others to do the same. Neither of us decides on this.
I for example view “Duel” option on PvE maps as “Skill Lesson” – not as skillful killing or PvP. It’s not a duel then. Not a fight until one is defeated one. I’m against harrasing others. This happens in SWTOR too: many times a higher level player invited me to “duel”. No comment. Then used emotes to… express whatever emptiness lies within that brain. But this can happen in GW2 too, insulting players are among us, this planet is infected by many […]
WvW map is not the answer either. I never duel in WvW, because I want to spend every second in helping my realm. Don’t have time for those poor chasers, wanting to duel. But I feel for them… since they are lost in this game. A bit. Still, I consider myself a “duelist” (on mesmer and thief only), but I do that only when an objective have to be taken or defended or somebody stopped from contesting a keep. Can be 1v1, or 1vX, doesn’t matter. I may win or not, doesn’t matter, just doing the uttermost possible under any circumstances. I would feel very guilty to take up space on WvW map and “duel” just to have fun (obviously feeling guilty it’s not fun). That’s why that kind of “duels” should be moved to a game mode aimed for that.
sPvP it’s different game, no comment on that. Playing two different games it’s confusing; whatever learned in one game mode, may not apply to the other. Then I don’t like to spend time for my own “achievements”, I play just for my own team. Even scouting in a tower, refreshing siege, escorting dolyaks… anything feels more rewarding, then just chasing for my own “fun” (obviously it’s not fun to me).
But others feel differently. They can duel and do whatever else, called “roaming” sometimes. Or duel in Obsidian Sanctum, including GvG – just for the sake of “PvP” or whatever (they know better why). It’s important to still respect each other, let others have a game mode where they can have fun. Without calling them “bad”. Options are good. If a game don’t have a game mode you like, offering options you like – then you can ask for them politely, and do something else until then. Insults are not good and never help.
